First time at clementina and was super excited as someone with celiac being able to go to a restaurant and not be concerned about getting glutened is an amazing experience. Food was fantastic and so glad we got to try lots of different things. Hands down top two favorite dishes were the mussels and the pizza. Everything tasted super fresh and the server coursed out of meal for us perfectly. Only rating four stars due to the fact that they were out of the focaccia bread and a few other items. Which was a huge disappointment seeing as they specialize in gluten-free dining experience it seemed frustrating that they didn't have the gluten free bread that I know all people with celiac would love to try, being that it is incredibly hard to get good tasting gluten free bread. Other downside is that you can't specify if you would like to sit indoor or outdoor. it's a take what you can get situation even with a reservation like I had tonight (booked like 2 weeks in advance). There is only two tables outside and I couldn't get a feel of the ambience or vibe of the restaurant since we were isolated outside.

I wanted to love this place so much. My partner has celiac, so he was very excited to try an Italian restaurant that could work for him. Reservations were made, we arrived, we ordered, and we were left impressed with some of the dishes, but disappointed by others. We each had a pizza, and they were good enough, but not necessarily any different than other gluten free pizzas. I felt like mine lacked pizza sauce. His had dollops of cheese, but he had to mix it together (which isn't what pizza usually is). He did love the eggplant fritters and the focaccia. I think the hype - adoring press, lots of social media enthusiasm - had us expecting something a bit higher end than a mid-range Italian place. Prices are fair (especially in San Francisco) and service is great. But it's just a good restaurant.

The main reason we decided to try this restaurant was because I still had a gift card from the previous restaurant, and the owner was kind enough to honor it. I'm glad we gave it a try because we really enjoyed our experience. The pinsa is just as good as the one at Montesacro since it is owned by the same proprietor, and it is one of my favorite styles of pinsa. We tried also the fried fish as the appetizer, but the standout dish was the cotoletta my husband ordered. Not only was it impressively large, but it was also absolutely delicious. My daughter enjoyed the pesto gnocchi. Overall, we had a very positive dining experience and would gladly return.

3.75/5 I was so excited about this place! I've been gluten free for so long now and love the idea of not having to worry about things. We had an 8pm dinner and the restaurant itself was dark/dim lighting and very cute. The decor and theme was adorable. Once we got seated, the service was great and the staff was very attentive. The focaccia tasted SO good and was very bouncy. However it was cold. The salted butter helped! Eggplant fritters were warm and tasty! Very crunchy and honestly the flavor was perfect. 3 of us ordered the Guilia pizza and I wish we got a variety. I felt the flavors were a bit strange. I will be eating the leftovers today so maybe will have more thoughts. The crust though, was AMAZING. Crispy bottom, which is hard to come by at normal restaurants. I think they have their bread down! I need to try here again and order something else.

I dined here for a friend's birthday dinner recently. She has celiac, and had previously tried and loved the restaurant. We had an amazing time eating here and I was very impressed by the food. There are a lot of dietary restrictions in the group I was with (vegan, vegetarian, etc.) aside from gf, and this was probably the least stressful dining experience I've had. There was something for everyone. I eat a lot of Italian food and was honestly skeptical going in, but I was impressed across the board. The pizza was creative and delicious, and aside from the focaccia (noticeably fluffier than the traditional version, though still quite good), I wouldn't have known this was an entirely gluten-free kitchen. We had a flourless chocolate cake for dessert (not pictured) that was one of the better desserts I've had recently. The restaurant was busy so I would highly recommend booking a reservation in advance.

Clementina is a great option for anyone looking for delicious gluten-free Italian food. My friend and I visited for lunch on a Sunday and had a good experience. We ordered the Clementina Pizza and the Pomodoro e Burrata panini. The pizza was very filling, so we ended up taking the panini to go. The service was fast, and it was nice to eat somewhere where I did not have to worry about whether the food was truly gluten-free. Street parking was a bit challenging due to the farmer's market, but there are several parking structures nearby.

Mother's Day and Mom is gluten free. Everyone was delighted with Clemintina. It's authentic Italian and everything is fully gluten free. We started with beverages. Mom had a Mimosa and two of us had Chinotto, like an Italian version of Coca Cola. I always seek that out and it's a sign of authentic Italian food. We had three appetizers between us; asparagus with cheese, focaccia and fried smelts, which were excellent. Focaccia was a bit springy, which you expect for gf. Next up, we had a pizza, the branzino and costoletta all Milanese (pounded pork chop like a schnitzel), which is highly recommended and outstanding. Chef made it for us even though it wasn't on the lunch menu. We left stuffed and sated. Everything on the menu is gluten free, but the food is comparable to what you would get in Italy. Mom said it was so relaxing to be able to eat anything it's also fine for celiac too. It was cold outside, so we opted for bar seating which was a lot of fun and the service was excellent. We will be coming back.

I had heard so much about this place, so we were all excited to finally try it. It's a bit tricky to review because gluten free dishes that try to replicate traditional versions can be hit or miss, and with that in mind, I think they did a decent job. The ambiance was nice, and our server was warm and attentive, which made the experience feel welcoming from the start. What didn't quite work for me was the flavor balance. Some of the pairings felt off, like certain pasta shapes matched with sauces that didn't really complement them, and at times it felt like the flavors were pushed a bit too strongly. That said, I absolutely loved the cotoletta. It really stood out and was a genuinely great dish.

Appreciated the very gracious service! Buzzy ambiance and just the right amount of dimness. I couldn't tell the pastas were gluten free. - Gnocchi: unfortunately was cold, certainly needed more heating up. The sauce with the lamb interestingly tasted like chef boyardee - was hoping for braised lamb from the ragu description - Rigatoni al pesto: lacked attention to detail - the string beans still had their tough stems! The pesto tasted like store bought pesto, was expecting more flavor - Branzino: cooked perfectly and just rightly salted! Wished there was more done with the carrots and attention to detail on the fish - fins were intact and more bones than expected - Tiramisu: the shortbread layer was not fully soaked, lacked flavor. The cream layer was mostly whipped cream - did not get as much marscapone in it

We dropped by on Father's Day and they had a preset menu that you can choose two appetizers from, a main dish, and a dessert. There were 4 choices of appetizers so we tried all of them and they were all excellent. I've been gluten free for years now, so I was excited to try their lasagna and it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend! I also thoroughly enjoyed their tiramisu. I haven't had a gluten tiramisu before, and it was amazing! We need more gluten free restaurants, please show some support to this place. It's nice to be able to go out to eat without the anxiety of ordering something that will hurt me. Felt very homey and the place is very cute! Service was excellent as well!

Loved Clementina so nice to have a GF Italian spot that is soo yummy! My friends and I got one of each pizza for takeout. All were so yummy and dough was such a good texture. I then dined in and got the calamari pasta, focaccia, tiramisu, and flourless torte. All were delicious:) I especially loved the service. Our server was so friendly and inviting. The ambience was so cozy and rustic I didn't want to leave!! Can't wait to come back!

    Branzino

Food was exquisite! Equally good for those that are gluten-free... or not! The wine selections were excellent, service very attentive, but the star was the gastronomic experience. We started off with a peach and heirloom tomato appetizer, followed with the pulpo and patata, which was accompanied by the lightest with savory herb seasoning. For entrees we enjoyed the pescato (whole branzino with baby carrots that was moist, delicately but exquisitely seasoned) and what really rocked my world was the LASAGNA. Tomato-based with some creamy elements, pasta al dente that I sunk teeth into, cheesy, gooey goodness-- this was the best lasagna I've had in decades. We topped it off with tiramisu--heaven for a gluten free person. And did I say the portions were generous? We brought home so many leftovers! What makes it a cut above is that everything is gluten-free but it doesn't taste gluten-free!!! My husband is not gluten free, but he is also looking forward to going back!!

    Beet salad, cauliflower
    Katrina S.

I'm not GF but was curious to try this new spot. I think they are still working out some kinks in the kitchen. The apps were overly salty (green salad and the cauliflower). The salad was overly dressed/salted and the cauliflower had both olives and capers in it which is major overkill on salt. The pastas were solid, the pesto rigatoni and the gnocchi with meat sauce had good flavor and texture. The rigatoni in particular I couldn't really tell was GF. The gnocchi was more dense than regular gnocchi but still good. The interior is well-done but certain tables are nicer than others. We were seated in the back and my friend was basically facing the wall where they run the checks. The service was attentive. Would come back to try again once they're more established.

I called a couple of hours beforehand and made a same day reservation for three at 8 p.m. I was amazed they could get us in. The guy who answered the phone was so nice. We arrived right at 8 and were seated on the back patio. Our server took a little while to greet us, but by about 8:15 she showed up and we immediately ordered our salad and entrees. The heirloom tomato salad came out around 8:30 and was great in concept, though a few more pieces of cheese would have made a big difference. Our entrees, two salmon dishes and a medium-rare steak, came out around 9 p.m. We had waited a little too long, especially since the restaurant was not very full at that point. My steak was overdone, so as politely as possible, I sent it back. The server said it wouldn't take long, so I assumed 15 minutes at most. By 9:20, the steak still had not arrived and my family had finished eating. The server came by and said it would be out in another couple of minutes. Another 10 minutes passed, and there was still no steak and no sign of the server. At 9:30, I was so frustrated that I got up to cancel it. I found the server standing near the kitchen talking with other servers, while my steak was just sitting there in the service window. I'm sorry, but I did not come to a restaurant at 8 p.m. to eat my entree at 9:30 or later, after everyone else had already finished. What made it worse was that the server was not apologetic at all. We also ran out of water multiple times throughout the evening. Overall, it felt like the staff, other than the host, just didn't care. Neither the kitchen nor the server. I don't know if it's the no-tip model, but it definitely felt like an authentic European zero-customer-service type of experience. I'm really disappointed, Zazie. I know you can do better.
