We've only seen the long line at Cucina 35 in Liberty Station and wanted to try it. Being Mother's Day on Coronado Island it was a 2 hour wait for walk in so we got a seat at the bar easily. Everything was superb - the vibe, the ambiance, the tastes - incredible! Highly recommend and cannot wait to visit again. Finally tried Cocina 35 on Coronado and wow--worth the hype! Yes, the wait was about an hour, but they kept us cool with shade, hand fans, and even fresh fruit skewers while we admired the San Diego skyline. Once seated on the dog-friendly patio with a perfect bay view, the vibe was fantastic and service nonstop. The chilaquiles rancheros hit every note, the torta was stacked and delicious, and the agua frescas (Jamaica + pepino) were super refreshing. Excellent. I already had another spot booked for brunch for my last day on Coronado, but, I saw this spot through the windows while out jogging and swapped last minute. If you can, show up right when they open, no line and easy seating. It gets loud and crowded by 10am. I had my choice of tables and the staff were very prompt and friendly, easily able to make menu suggestions and answer all my questions. I arrived at 9am to no line and walked right up, by 10am when I left, line out front. The location is excellent right in the Ferry Landing outdoor complex with free 2-hour parking and loads of street parking so parking shouldn't usually be an issue. The inside is beautiful - very instagrammable even down to the gorgeous bathrooms (see photos). I was alone on a work trip, so I was able to people watch and check out all the good food going by. I went with the Mazapan latte warm, which was amazing and light and slightly nutty. Highly recommend. All the chilaquiles looked amazing but I wanted some protein as I was flying home later so I went with the classic: La Bomba which was crispy and warm and fresh and absolutely wonderful. Slightly spicy but not too bad. They have merch for sale and you can get hats, coffee, mugs, tortillas, etc. Highly, highly recommend. I made my reservation on open table, and added a note that we were going to celebrate my husband's birthday. When we entered they gave me a pouch, and sat us down with a nice view. We ordered our food, and the pouch contained some cute little activities for my daughter to keep busy. They came around and offered us bread, which I thought was complimentary however after getting the bill it was $3 for the concha, and $4.5 for the empanada. I just wish they would've told us! we ordered two plates one with pancakes, and one 1/2 chilaquiles 1/2 French toast. The beans and chilaquiles were spicy but good ( I got the green sauce) we shared with my daughter. I ordered her a regular milk that came out to $5. My husband got the clamatito and I got the cafe de olla iced, both of those drinks were good. After eating they came out with a celebration happy birthday, which I originally thought it was for us because I had written the note on the reservation. But it was for the table behind us. They gave us our check and didn't do anything. I was kind of bummed out. Overall experience was great, with fantastic views. Breakfast for two was about $90 with drinks. I recently went to Cocina 35 in Coronado for brunch and had such an amazing experience from start to finish. The restaurant itself is super cute and perfect for brunch, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and you can tell they really care about the quality of their food. The chilaquiles were incredible and definitely lived up to the hype. But what really made our visit exceptional was our server, Karina. She was honestly one of the best servers I've had in a long time. She was so friendly and welcoming from the moment we sat down, and she made us feel really comfortable and taken care of the entire time. She checked on us the perfect amount, made great recommendations, and had such a positive attitude the whole time. You can tell she really cares about her customers and takes pride in her job. Karina truly made our brunch experience so much better. Great service can completely change a dining experience, and she went above and beyond. Saw this place on the weekend and it was busy! Bf and I decided to check it out on a Thursday morning at 11. There wasn't a line but still had to wait a few minutes to get a table. And there were two roped off lines for the bar area and for the restaurant-- almost feels like a club situation. There is a 90min limit, and the service was ok. Considering the time limit, I'd think the service would be more attentive and quicker. The food was decent, but very overpriced chilequiles. Additionally, asked for a to go box, clean forks, a menu---- and did not get any of those things. And the togo box literally took 5 asks and five different people to finally get it. Honestly my party and I felt very rushed. I understand it is a very popular new place in Coronado but they rush you in and they rush you out. The staff is super friendly and attentive, they are all amazing . The aesthetics are beautiful and the view is gorgeous, but they are lacking in the food department. I feel because the whole experience is so rushed they don't take their time in making the food the same way the other locations make it. I've been to all of the other locations and unfortunately this was the one who disappointed me. We were there celebrating a birthday and they brought the dessert menu and asked the birthday girl what she wanted but never said it wasn't complimentary. We arrived at 8:15 am just after the establishment opened and were walk-in no reservations as we were a party of 5. Because we had a dog we were seated at patio, no problem! We love outdoor dining! But DAMN we were seated by the RADIATOR? There was only one other party in the entire patio so we asked if we could be moved by the edge of the patio out of the sun and better view at least. Hostess said no, because of server assignment we had to stay at the table by the radiator and in the sun. But. There. Were. Only. TWO GROUPS. INCLUDING US!!! Our party was really bothered by the morning sun so we begged a waiter to change seats with patio cover since it was 75F at 8:30am and were finally moved to more shade but next to trash bins. Fine. Just give my baby some shade omg Every single thing is heavily upcharged on the menu and sides are very expensive! They walked around with pastries that you can easily get from a panderia but marked up 2x. Food was OK but child menu needs some attention. Please don't pre-dress kids menu. There are only two options for kids menu, egg-fruit-French toast OR pancakes pre-seasoned with syrup. We are very used to syrup put on the side so carbs don't get soggy or overly sweetened. Kids are VERY PICKY with texture and intense flavors so this was unnecessarily difficult for us. Food was portioned well but nothing stood out. We've been to Mexico many times and were very disappointed with this breakfast. Cocina 35 doesn't do it for us for ambiance, food, and service. 3 entrees, 1 kids meal, 2 coffees, 1 conche bread, 1 Fresca $125. Price isn't awful but for the taste of food it isn't great. Sunday we arrived to celebrate a friends birthday we had made the reservation a week ahead. We had asked for windows seat. We got sat in the back. We kindly asked about the window seat Since that is the main reason. We like this location and no one came back to talk to us they just ignored us. I asked for the coffee flight and it was cold. It wasn't good at all. The same person we asked about the window seat came and told us our time was up and there was a line of people waiting for our table. Went here for Sunday Brunch. We had reservations and were seated promptly. When you walk in, you walk past a display of all of the dishes offered and the hostess explained them. That was a nice touch. The restaurant is ascetically beautiful. The big pink tree inside is amazing. We were seated outside and the views are EVERYTHING! The menu is limited. It's a chilaquiles restaurant for the most part. I actually ordered the mini fried quesadillas. Let me just say that all of the food was EXCELLENT! Very flavorful. I was impressed. The drinks were also very good. I enjoyed our brunch. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because our food didn't all come out at the same time so that was not good. If you're looking for good views, and IG photos, this is your place. We had fine initial service but didn't see our server until it was time to pay. We had to waive a server down to get some salsa and water, server nowhere to be found. However, before she left she asked if we were celebrating anything, it was my friend's Bday, she was quick to suggest the priciest desert option - with limited time to decide, she quickly added it. Everything is extra so be weary of this. When ordering coffee, I just wanted regular cafe de la olla and my server insisted I get it with milk, which was about $3 extra- I declined and got a lukewarm cafe de olla in a less fancy presentation. I ordered basic chilaquiles tomate (they insisted I ordered a side) but I just wanted whatever came with the order. The chilaquiles were dry and barely any sauce or toppings. Very disappointing. I don't appreciate when restaurants sneak in all these extras to increase the already high prices. Do better. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at Cocina 35 in Coronado this morning (March 13, 2026 around 9:40 AM). While I was eating, I noticed what looked like a cockroach in my food. Finding something like that in a dish at a restaurant is extremely concerning and completely unacceptable from a hygiene and food safety standpoint. I brought it to the manager's attention, but the response was disappointing. Instead of taking clear accountability, the explanation felt more like excuses, which made the situation even more frustrating. Needless to say, I could not continue eating after that. An incident like this raises serious concerns about kitchen cleanliness and pest control. I have reported the incident because food safety should be taken seriously. read more

My mother in law found a HAIR IN THE FOOD! they did bring her out a new plate but they messed up her order TWICE! we waited for her food basically the whole time we were there. When we asked to speak with someone about how unsatisfied we were with the service and food the manager asked to give us a discount, MIND YOU it's not the price that's the issue, she never once seemed to cared we simply weren't happy with the SERVICE. If you're trying this place please keep your expectations low on service but you will get cute pictures. We arrived at 845 and there was a minimal amount of customers and they took us in right away. The morning rush came through around 930. We ordered "El Patron!" And The chilaquiles and the Cajeta toast were phenomenal. The Portions were a pretty good size. The tortilla chips stayed crispy despite being generously coated in a rich, flavorful salsa roja. Topped with avocado, sweet onions, cilantro and queso, every bite was delish. The Hostess along with our servers were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Brunching with my babe was a hit!!! I'm probably the last person in town who's tried this amazing spot. San Diego offers 3 local spots to enjoy the most crunchiest chilaquiles I've tried. The martini had some orange peel in it kind of threw the taste a little off for me. I will be trying the mimosa flight next time. From the looks of other tables they seemed super festive. Also want to try the horchata drink seemed pretty popular. I love to people watch and see what's on my neighbors tables. I didn't come to breakfast thinking I was going to be this impressed. I have had many chilaquiles and had already found my favorite. Picking which two flavors took me a minute. I was conflicted to the max. They have a good variety. I chose the Chipotle and habanero creamy cilantro. The order came with some beans with the most creamiest texture. My favorite were the habanero cilantro. The sauce is creamy green you wouldn't think so when you read habanero. The chips are crunchy and never soften. From start to finish they kept their crispy texture. The hubbys plate was also impressive. The one thing that stood out on his plate was that corn tamale. He got the green chilaquiles. Also good, but I've had green plenty of times elsewhere. We saw this COCINA 35 brunch last month while still in construction. This location used to be the Costa Azul Mexican restaurant. We were here in this area yesterday having dinner at an Italian restaurant when we saw a sign that Cocina 35 here in Coronado is now open. But it was close when we saw it, so i just took a picture from the outside of what it looks like inside. Then we came back today for breakfast to try them. We were seated right awaay by our Server Daisy , shes explain everything on the menu and shes very attentive to check on whatelse we might need while dinning . Wasn't as busy as the Downtown location or the Point Loma location, maybe because it's a weekday or not much of people know that they are already open since they just opened this Monday November 18, 2024. My wife and I tried their EL SINALOENSE and TORTA AHOGANA. Both were delicious and packed with good meats, especially the TORTA AHOGANA, filled with lots of meat, my wife chose the Pork for her protein for this Sandwich, it's a pretty Big sandwich. For our drinks we had CAFE OLLA & GUAYABANA NICE, the guayabana drink has a gin, St. Germain, Mexican Guava, lime, and house syrup . All in all dining experience today here in Coronado at Cocina 35 Brunch was good. Good food and plenty selection on their Menu , a spectacular view, and good staff . We also heard that thsi location is planning to have a Dinner time soon , and that is perfect . I made a reservation for breakfast and I needed to update it and when I go to my OpenTable, it says I have to call the restaurant. When you call the restaurant. It is a recording and no one answers. They don't want any contact with the customer and now my reservation is less than 24 hours away so I can't do anything or contact the restaurant. It just says they will charge my card. $15 for a person if I tried to change it Very poor customer service. Came here with 3 friends for brunch on Saturday at 12 pm. We had a reservation but were coming from the OC to meet with our friend who lives in SD, we got to the restaurant within the grace period time but they has already given our table away (our friend who drove had to wait for parking) because our party was missing one. We noticed that another party who was just waiting on one person was also in the same predicament, except they were a much larger party and it looked like they were celebrating something. They made us stand in a separate line while the remaining person showed up, while it is completely within their right to wait for all members of the party to arrive to seat them, I think it's good to be aware that they are VERY strict with this before you make a reservation as there is a chance you could get stuck waiting with a large party for a while if this happens to you. Once sat we got menus and ordered drinks, I ordered the La verde agua fresca which came in a pretty large cup, $8. It was refreshing and very good, more on the sweet side. For food I ordered the cazulela Sinaloense it was good, but it was lacking flavor. Thankfully our waitress was very nice to bring me salsa to add to it, but it wasn't very spicy. For what it was I think it's overpriced for the quantity/flavor. If you are unsure what you want to order they have a display of what the food on the menu actually looks like by the front entrance... Like some of the other reviews, we did feel abit rushed as other staff besides our waitress were coming to our table way too often to take things off the table. It's great to get things out of the way but they do not need to grab napkins and plates constantly while we are still eating. It was also pretty loud as people mostly come here for celebrations and for every birthday they crank up the volume and sing which is great if you're here for a celebration but not so much if you just want to have a casual time with friends/family. Overall if you're coming here you should probably try what they're known for which is the chilaquiles, and keep in mind the party-like ambiance of the restaurant. I slipped on the beach and slashed my hand open. The closest place to go to a restroom was Cochina 35. As soon as I walked in Ariana the manager saw my hand ,ran and got me Band-Aids. Cleaned me up with alcohol and a bandaid and set me on my way. On the way out the door another service taught me and said I had blood over in my face and she helped me clean up my face. The food is delicious though I will recommend putting a little more sauce in their chilaquiles and the cafe de olla we ordered was pretty dark roast so if you don't like your coffee strong with some bitterness I'd skip it or just stick to the latte version and add as much piloncillo as you'd like as it's on the table.
