My husband and I were greeted with warm, quick service. This continued throughout the meal. We started with the Trio of Salsas, which was good. But I think I may have liked their complimentary salsa the best. The bartender was able to make a delicious virgin Paloma for me, and I still felt like I got a drink just as fancy as the one my husband was drinking. For dinner, I ordered the trio of tacos. The birria was definitely the star ... my favorite of the 3 tacos for sure. Highly recommend the birria. Great place to go on a nice spring night. The chips in the warm bowl and salsa are perfect to start with. I asked our server Felipe what he would recommend and he said the Camarones Al Ajo / garlic shrimp, it was amazing. I would definitely order that again. Have been here a number of times in the past but just now getting around to reviewing after stopping in again over the weekend! I came here this weekend for a post graduation lunch celebrating my cousin and had a wonderful time! The restaurant was super accommodating especially given we had a group of 30 and showed up early! We started with spicy marg pitchers all around -- highly recommend these...they are addicting!! They also brought out chips and a couple different salsas. We ordered a few orders of guac which were tasty but small portions. For food, I have had many different items. I like the elote corn, quesadilla roll up, burria tacos, burrito bowl, and carne asada tacos. For dessert, the churros are great! Yelp has a great check in deal to get them free so be sure to do that if you have not used it already. The vibes and food are definitely more on the fusion side rather than authentic. Not saying this is a bad thing, just a heads up! Location is awesome and surrounded by tons of other great downtown bars and restaurants. Parking can be tough on weekends in the evenings but I recommend to look in the small street parallel to the restaurant. This is the street that is partially closed off for the restaurant outdoor seating but still has a few spots open. I always drive through here and often find one of the spots open solely because people generally don't check them! This is one of the more fun and yummy mexican restaurants in danville with a great ambiance. A lot more upscale compared to our other favorite Los Ponchos. Came in on a Tuesday night around 7:30 to celebrate my mom's birthday. We were seated without any wait and restaurant was not too busy. Drinks and food were quite good, and good portion size. The entire time were we're eating we were all saying how cute of a restaurant this was and how we'd surly be back. In the middle of our meal around 8:15 our server informed us they were doing last call for any food or drinks which wasn't a problem. We finished eating and the waitress came with the check and told us it was no rush to take our time. I had brought a small cake and asked if it was okay to eat it in the restaurant, the server said no problem and even brought us over small plates and a candle. Right after we sang happy birthday and cut the cake, a man (I'm assuming the manager) rudely walked up the table leaned into our conversation and said "we're closed" and walked away. The entire table looked stunned as our server was so kind and kept telling us not to rush. He also walked around and did this to every other table in the restaurant. I understand they needed people to leave so they could close down the restaurant, but it was the way he went about it that left me questioning if I want to return. read more

I was craving Mexican food for a while, so decided to check out Cocina Hermanas to satiate my cravings. And I am glad we chose this restaurant! Great experience overall. We started with the complimentary CHIPS and SALSA. They were both so good. The chips were fresh, not oily. The salsa was fresh, spicy and delicious. The SPICY CAULIFLOWER was good with just the right level of spice. For the mains, we started with the VEGETARIAN TACOS with a seasonal vegetable filling which in our case was jackfruit. It was surprisingly good but the tacos was a little dry for me overall. The dish that we really enjoyed was the CHILE RELLENO. Loved every element on the plate individually. i am coming in hot with five stars. Outside seating near a fountain, good service, nice feed overall, and great drinks including a solid Mai Tai and Manhattan that rolls with double Bourbon cherries without having to ask for extra. I was ok after all this. Potential for a single star beat down on the items below but due to the overall experience, this was not enacted. 1. Ceviche - I thought it was big till I hit a lot of lettuce hiding under the fish and mango. Suggestion would be to perform a chip upgrade with this dish. It arrives with three mini round corn flat tortillas. They are fine but dish would match up really well (IMHO) with deep fried flour tortilla chips. 2. Guac - very nicely done but a tiny bit small. I am not griping big time about this since it was really good but did force me to order another one. 3. Nothing else. The pork app is epic. Really nice kick to it. Photos will show the rest but I did step up and switch out the standard sauce on the fish entree' and substituted with avocado lime sauce which was very nice. Not sure why this is the #1 rated Mexican restaurant on Yelp in Danville. Came for lunch a few months ago thought it was pretty good came back for dinner recently and wasnt too impressed. On the plus side the presentations of the entrees were very nice and the guacamole was great. The margaritas are a bit pricey at $12.00 and were way too sweet too much house mix two of us at the table couldnt finish them. The food was very average not representative of the prices charged. Probably would only return for happy hour. There are better more authentic Mexican places in the area. read more

I was in the area and decided to give this place a try. There's seating outside and inside. We went on a rainy day and it was a little cold inside. We got some really good chips and salsa. If you want more chips you have to pay for them. I got a tortilla soup that was very good and filling. Sadly it did not come with lemon. The horchata was really good. Rustic and warm vibe with great decor, ambiance, and service! Seems to be a lot of hits / misses with this spot but we enjoyed our evening and most of the food. We ordered the trio of salsa ($6); grilled elote ($6); tortilla soup ($9); carnitas tacos ($9 for two); and fried shrimp tacos ($12 for two). We ordered the salsa trio thinking they did not provide them complimentary (we later found out they do) and to be honest, I was not a fan. The roasted tomatillo salsa was runny and had more of a sweet flavor to it; the chipotle quemado salsa was so hot I couldn't even eat it; and the cacahuate (peanut salsa) was ok but felt out of place - hubby disagreed and enjoyed them all so at least it didn't go to waste! The grilled elote wasn't that good either - overcooked and tough with not enough crema. We did enjoy the tortilla soup - it was hearty and stayed warm throughout the entire meal. Both the carnitas and shrimp tacos were good too - loaded with meat/shrimp; had good flavor; and were filling. I'm really picky when it comes to Mexican food. So my expectations weren't high- I just figured "another Mexican restaurant claiming authentic food" although not "authentic" it's incredibly tasty! I've been here 2x and both times were great. I've had the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and I've tried the chili relleno. The burrito bowl is so very good - you can add chicken. - asada or shrimp. The cocktails are yummy and refreshing. Chips and salsa very fresh and the salsa isn't hot but the flavor is amazing. I ordered pork and fish tacos, which I found to be on the small side, especially for the price. The menu mentioned tempura fish tacos, which were clearly not tempura when they arrived to the table. Also found the tacos to be on the bland side with very little sauce or seasoning. I do realize you can put salsa that they provide for the chips on yourself, but it's nice when an establishment has a unique way of spicing and/or saucing their dishes. I ended up using the chip salsa on my tacos. Since I had been in Cabo a few weeks ago, I had what I think may have been even higher expectations. Hi I am here right now. It took a while to get service. And I have finished my waters a few times, and I have finished my beer. And the glasses sit empty, with no one asking to refill them. It's not crazy, there is literally five people at the bar. He charged us for six beers, we had four. The restaurant is probably good, and the food is probably good, but do not sit at the bar. The bartender gives 0 fu6ks and didn't greet us at all. There is no love. If you are going to choose a job where you work with people you should at least like them or be able to fake it. Maybe he is having a bad day. He should have called in sick. Also after getting shitty service he gave us only a five back. Like now we feel pressured to leave the five, he didn't even give us change. He knew what's up. Blah. So sad I want to love this place so bad. read more

Loved this spot! My bestie and I came here on a Friday evening and had a great time. We both ordered a beer and an entree. The beer was fresh and the food was delicious. Found this place on yelp and really felt like drinking margaritas. Very cute outdoor patio but we sat right at the bar. Also very chic inside with exposed brick. The food was delicious. I ordered the Diablo Trio Tacos which consiseted of one chicken taco, one fish taco, and one shrimp taco. The shrimp and fish taco were absolutely delicious and very flavorful. My mom had the chicken tortilla soup which was fantastic! Now the drinks at the bar and the service by Damian our bartender was simply the best experience we could ever ask for in a first time visit!! He was so welcoming, friendly, and prompt. His sassy margarita and his spicy margarita he made for my father were excellent. But the Pina colada he recommended since he help create it was by far the highlight of the whole meal!! Not too sweet and he tops it off with this delicious Carmel like liquor that blends so well with the drink. Simply superb. I ventured out with a friend and it was my first time visiting. Like most people, I looked at the menu ahead of time and was surprised to learn they did not have shrimp tacos unless ordered in the taco combo. What?! However, they had wonderful, juicy platanos and sweet, sugary churros. I didn't love that you had to pay for chip and salsa refills though... really?! Seems silly if people order food. Follow up to my earlier check in. We did a walk in and were quickly seated and host was super friendly. However that was the highlight of the service we received that day ( waiter was okay ). After waiting for about 10 minutes to be served, I decided to walk to the bar are and let one of the staff members know we are still waiting on our waiter to come by. She apologized and a lady was sent over ( not out waited ) she came by and asked what she could bring us in the meantime but unfortunately couldn't answer some of the questions we had about our drink, so we still had to wait on the waiter. Chips and water were brought out then and thereafter our waiter came by. He apologized for not serving us when we got seated and asked about what question there was on the drinks . I got the pineapple, mint jalapeño tequila cocktail ( which was good) and my boyfriend got a Michelada ( which was just okay and that was the last of the mix ). Given how long the service was taking we opted to order the apps instead of food. The ceviche in my onion was not the best ( and perhaps because I have a bias on shrimp type ceviches ) but these didn't taste so fresh . The crab cakes were good but the empanadas were subpar as they were not stuffed well. If I had to compare it there was less meat and felt like a chicken pot pie situation . The pork wrapped meal (I forget the name but in my pics) was good and the chips and salsa was good. As you can see our experience here was not the best. First time here so not sure if this is a norm, it was quite busy so maybe just a bad day ? The drinks were good, so my recommendation would go as far as happy hour. Greg the bartender was fantastic. He made our drinks with flair and panache. They were both delicious. We ordered some carnitas tacos and Greg suggested some chips and guacamole. The tacos we're scrumptious with some sweet cabbage. The chips and guacamole were awesome homemade and perfectly fresh.
