The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was wonderful, the quality for the price was great, the service was good, and the restaurant was clean. Our waitress was kind and wonderful, she was handling the whole dining area basically on her own. Although some staff came to help a bit, they all had jobs that kept them busy and she shouldn't have had to handle so much alone. This size restaurant should have at least 2-3 wait staff. For the same reason that I applaud her on her kindness and how well she did, it's also a star off for having one person handling all that. We were seated quickly, she went to clean up other tables, another member of staff came to ask what we want from the sushi bar and was a little pushy about it but I think that's why this person normally doesn't work out front, they weren't mean they were just rushing us a bit. We had gone to celebrate a pretty big milestone and simply wanted a nice relaxed meal with a cocktail or two. After ordering our sushi to the hurried gentleman, we went over to the grill. The ingredients were diverse, plentiful, and fresh as if we had just arrived after a fresh restock. I of course took my time meticulously preparing what in my mind was the perfect chicken chow mein pad Thai fusion. It came out exactly as expected, sweet savory umami and spicy with a small crunch and a lot of freshness and noodle-y goodness. We return to our table and there was as it said on the menu our soup and wontons waiting for us. Roughly 20 minutes in our waitress finally returned to ask if we needed anything, which saved the day, we finally got to order our drinks. As I said before, are waitress was amazing but she handled the entire dining area. When we arrived there were several tables still full of dirty dishes and she alone was busing them. She alone was taking phone calls. She was cleaning the dining area. All that and she was serving us and the two families who entered afterwards. I hold her in very high regard she did an outstanding job, which I would love to give five stars because of that, however I'm removing one because she should not have to do all of that. CoCo's was a really nice alternative to all of the fast food chains around, and they serve high quality Asian food, especially considering we were in Northern California. The variety is good too; they have lamb, beef, chicken, a bunch of fresh veggies and sauces, and easy-to-follow instructions for first-timers. One AYCE order comes with your choice of soup and egg rolls. They also have a sushi bar and cheap drinks if you're in the mood! This place has something for everyone and is super reasonably priced, too. If I'm ever driving through Redding again, I'd give this place another go. Ordered from DoorDash. My dinner included miso soup, shrimp & vegetable tempura, and a California roll. I decided to order basic as this was my first time ordering. The portions were very favorable. The miso soup on the salty side and the seaweed tasted old. The best way I could describe it is if you made miso soup and put it in the fridge and ate it a day later- the texture of seaweed was thin and seemed a bit off. Tempura (2 pieces of shrimp, 1 carrot, 1 mushroom, 1 broccoli, 2 bell peppers, 1 sweet potato) mix was thinly battered and the sauce included tasted like wasabi had been mixed in. The California roll was a great size and was generously portioned with a good mix of crab, avocado and cucumber- there was tempura flakes on top with a lot of different sauces, but again the roll tasted like wasabi was mixed in. The Mystery roll was good and the MGI roll was also good. They offer a combo with a roll and 4 pieces of nigiri which is also nice because it fills you up. All the rolls were nicely proportioned too! They also have a noodle bowl bar but we didn't experiment with any of that. The sashimi platter was good but some of the pieces of sashimi were extremely cold in the center which may indicate they were previously frozen. This review is to go directly against Oksana: As someone who has only reviewed when she has something bad to say I find it hard to take her review seriously. Also, I was a witness to the same situation that she tried to recall. To start, I have been going to Coco's since it opened and I am sad that it took this event for me to post a review. As always, the service is great and the owners are very hands on. They have a way of connecting with everyone who enters. Plus their staff knows their menu so when someone needy like me comes in, they take their time to explain the differences from sushi to sauces and can always suggest a new entree to try. Back to OKSANA: I'm confused by her photo, I don't know what I have to compare it with since the meal was all consumed. (SIDE NOTE: Their BSCR roll is my personal fav) Looks more like a before and after since she had no issue consuming all of it before taking a photo. Also, she took the one piece she had left on her plate to-go. I grew up in Redding and I don't remember being taught to be rude to servers or managers when they try to help you out. Sad to see that Oksana's parents didn't step in much and I did hear them say, "usually we just get it for free when this happens." RED FLAG: why are you always doing this, for free meals? Pathetic. Also, you make the Mongolian bowl yourself snd it's all you can eat so that sounds like a personal problem on meat v veggie issue. That's a self inflicted battle. (PS: I love that they offer lamb. Date: 9/27/20 Time: 7:45pm I called in for an order to pickup. I ordered F10 Smelt Roe and Toyota Roll Crazy Combo. The online menu for the Crazy Combo is: Served with an appetizer, rice, soup, & 4 pcs. of sushi (Chef's Choice) plus the choice of one special roll listed below. Before I left, I always check my bag to see if I received everything I ordered. I was missing the Rice and Soup. I informed the server that I was missing those items. She said "No, that doesn't come with your meal". I said okay, then headed out. I checked the menu again online and it said it was served with those items. I went back in to show her the menu that I saw and ordered from. She then informed me that that is not served with orders for take-out. 1. If its not served with orders for take-out, inform the customer before they proceed with placing the order, that not everything you want will be there. 2. Customer service is key to keeping customers. She could have said "you know what, it does say that but we don't offer that with phone orders. This time I will go ahead and give you soup and rice, and I'll talk to my manager about creating a menu for phone orders". read more

I took my sister here for her birthday today. We ordered sushi and had the Mongolian grill as well. It was so tasty, the pepino roll is my favorite. Our waiter was a cute and very polite man. He worked hard to make sure all of our sushi rolls were exactly what we wanted. We ordered seven different sushi rolls and four of us had the grill as well. CoCo's is my favorite restaurant to go to in Redding! I'm from Hawaii, the land of amazing food, so moving to Redding was a huge change for me because quite honestly there aren't many good places to eat here. I really enjoy dining at CoCo's because you can't go wrong with the Mongolian grill. You pick your own meats, veggies, garnishes, sauces, seasonings, etc. You can also ask the chef to clean the grill if you don't want the residue of other customers stir fry and they are happy to do it for you. I love the owners of CoCo's they are so sweet and accommodating when me and my family of 11 goes to eat there. Alan, the waiter is THE BEST! He always makes us feel welcomed and he is very attentive! COVID UPDATES: You can still dine in! All they require is that you wear your mask while you're at the stir fry bar and that you wear gloves when you are creating your stir fry mix. The staff all wear gloves and masks, so we feel better about dining in! Other than that everything is pretty much normal! read more

I've never been to a Mongolian grill before so I wasn't sure what to expect. There are two options when you go- 1) Mongolian bbq or 2) sushi We went with the Mongolian bbq. It comes with soup, an appetizer and your choice of brown or white rice. After you receive those, you go up to where the meat, noodles and veggies are. Now if you go up once and have leftovers you can take them home. If you go up more than once you can no longer take your leftovers home. Don't be deceived- the bowls are quite large. You can choose from chicken, beef, pork, bacon and lamb. I really liked the lamb and beef. Then you can choose from 3 noodles- rice, udon, lo mein Then is a huge array of vegetables! Many Asian choices from bens sprouts, bok choy, water chestnuts, baby corn, Chinese mushrooms. Highly suggest choosing the vegetables you like and then proceed to the sauce line. They give you a suggestions on how much to put in but I like to come up with my own and did a combo of teriyaki, garlic, and oyster sauce with some spicy kick to it. Also- don't forget to grab an egg!! You bring it to the chefs and they cook it in a rotating circle for you. Doesn't take too long and they do a great job with their huge chopsticks! I like the way they cut the veggies too, I feel like after everything is grilled up the portions of each bite are great because the slice the veggies thin enough to were you can get a good mix! Unfortunately standing at the grill took 30 minutes and by the time I got back, the hot rolls and appetizer were cold and my boyfriend sat there waiting for me. I suggest during peak times there be a number ticketing system so customers don't have to stand there endlessly leaving behind table mates and losing out on potential revenue. We ate dinner there last night and I was quite disappointed since the reviews were pretty good. We arrived there and took a bit to get seated. Once we got seated, we ordered 1 piece of shrimp tempura and got in line for Mongolian. The gentleman that was grilling the food, he used too much water while grilling which caused my sauces to be watered down. We finally sat down and ate our food and they finally brought us our ride and soup. Almost a hour in, still no shrimp tempura. I asked for our check and the waitress went to the owner and told her we needed our check. Took 20 minutes for a check. I noticed that the owners micromanage everything. The servers can't do anything without going to the owners. They need to let the servers do their jobs without being micromanaged, that's why the service hef is terrible!! I'm so disappointed. We used to love this place. But twice now we have been here and received just ABYSMAL service. Last night we walked out without eating. The servers are unfriendly to downright rude. The table at which we were seated was STICKY and disgusting. We were told to wait for our server, who just never came. I have well-behaved kids but even they have limits. After waiting for 10 minutes and just being ignored, we left and went down the street- where it's more expensive but at least they acknowledged our presence. My friends and I went to this restaurant for all you can eat Mongolian bbq because we saw that this place had good reviews on Yelp. However, we left extremely disappointed. We were promptly seated when we entered the restaurant. I would say the atmosphere is subpar. We then proceeded to the grill where we had a selection of meat, noodles, fruit, veggies to make our Mongolian BBQ. I sat down with my freshly cooked Mongolian BBQ and took a bite of the meat and noodles. It may have been a combination of the meat not being fresh and/or the meat being over cooked, but I could not take another bite. I ended up going somewhere else for dinner afterwards. I would have given this place 1 star based on my dining experience (atmosphere + food quality) but giving an extra star because at least the service was good and the wait staff seemed nice. read more
