My friends sent me cakes from here! So I can only rate the food and not the location. I got two deliveries. In one, cakes were packed in a nice white bakery box and arrived in pristine condition. In the other, the cakes were separately boxed in clear containers and one cake melted/fell over. So YMMV. I thought the hazelnut cake was a little oversweet, but it's small enough that it can be a reasonable indulgent treat. The apple tart was AMAZING. I ate mine cold (pulled it out of the fridge intending to just take a bite but then just couldn't stop...) and it was great. I bet it's even better warm. I was surprised to find no marzipan in the croissant, instead it was stuffed with custard. Very unusual for a french bakery. The hazelnut latte was mediocre. I couldn't really taste the hazelnut. Came here at 3pm today, Sunday, and got to enjoy the some eye candy, beautiful pastries while waiting in line. I've always passed by here but never went in since they always have a line, but today I finally got to try their desserts! The bakery was popping and we decided on their Tiramisu and Bamboo (Mango and Passionfruit) mini cakes. We enjoyed our goodies outdoors since the weather was nice outside. Although they had a good amount of tables outside, most were occupied. The tiramisu was spot on! Just the right amount of sweetness and the cake was fresh and not too dry, a 5/5. The Bamboo cake was also very good and tasted fresh, a 4.5/5 because the mango and passionfruit flavor could be a bit stronger. We have been going to this place for a few years now. The atmosphere is great on Friday and Saturday nights, but the desserts are expensive, and the quality is just okay, not great. However, the most frustrating experience we had on 11/7/25 was the very poor service. Usually, there are no servers, and you take your coffee and pastries to a vacant seat. This time, we decided to sit inside because the music and smoke smell outside were overwhelming, as the place is next to a nightclub. I put my 2-year-old in a seat next to a table while my wife went to place the order. Within a few minutes, a crazy woman came from inside and asked us to move because the seat was reserved for wheelchair customers. I understand her point, but considering the place was busy, we couldn't move to another table as none were available. Typically, if someone in a wheelchair asked us to move, we would have done so without hesitation. However, in this case, there was no customer requesting the seat, and the woman was quite rude about it. Not only did she move us, but a few minutes later, another family tried to sit in the same spot, and she again came from the counter and demanded they find another place. This family also felt uncomfortable with the service. I think this woman must be the owner or manager of the restaurant, but she should understand that speaking rudely to customers will negatively affect the business, and nobody wants that. Regardless, we are unlikely to visit this place again because we felt insulted after receiving such poor service. read more

You pickup your order near the exit. There is outdoor seating where you can enjoy food and mingle with family or friends. In terms of the cakes/desserts, we each ordered an item and we shared amongst ourselves. The Sacher Framboise was super rich and decadent. It has lush chocolate flavor with raspberry filling in between the layers. Make sure to share this... as it's very heavy. The tiger eye is an almond flavored cake with a rich chocolate filling in the middle. Reminds me of a madeleine. Not bad, worth a try. The creme brulee was perfectly flavored. Smooth creaminess with slight eggy taste and a crisp brunt sugar top. Perfectly sweetened. Lastly, the Mango and passion fruit mousse cake was refreshing. It's oh slightly tart with a spongy cake texture and smooth mousse. The perfect combo with each bite. Minus one star only cause the menu options were limited at the time of the visit (weekend, midday). Will be back whenever I'm in the area. read more

Okay so this place looks super yummy and it's open late (which is perfect for a midnight sweets craving), but honestly, I wasn't super impressed. We came here for a spot of dessert around 10pm, and many of the dessert cases were fairly empty already but they had a decent assortment of cakes and macarons left. I got the three-layer chocolate mousse cake (white, milk, and dark chocolate) and my friend got the assorted macarons. Mine was definitely way better - the mouse was silky and smooth with plenty of lovely chocolate notes coming through. However, it did err a bit on the sweeter side. The macarons, on the other hand, were a whole different story - I bit into a passionfruit macaron and let me count the ways it was all wrong: (1) no passionfruit fruit at all (2) excessively sweet filling (3) far too chewy (4) tough shell. Having previously dedicated several Paris trips to the sole mission of locating the perfect macaron, I was left extremely disappointed and unable to eat my way through another one. read more

We came here hoping for a quick bite while visiting the area this morning, and had a confusing and unpleasant experience. I felt compelled to share in case it's helpful to others who, like us, are unfamiliar with the area and are weighing their breakfast and brunch options. When we entered, it wasn't at all clear where we were expected to enter the line or approach to order, and we didn't see any obvious menus beyond two large TV screens behind the counter, one of which only briefly displayed drink options before rotating between photos, making it hard to see what's available. We eventually saw a small sign on the counter reading only "ONE LINE for EVERYTHING," so we hopped into what we hoped was the line. When an employee approached from behind the counter to take our order, we asked for a few pastries and a quiche, and I requested a sandwich. She told me I'd have to go to the cashier to order sandwiches and beverages. (So much for only one line for everything, I guess?) So I approached the cashier to try again. When I asked for a chicken salad sandwich, the cashier told me abruptly that they don't serve sandwiches until 11. Mind you it was 10:43, the place wasn't crowded and was generously staffed, and I could see the chicken salad pre-prepared in a display case. It was also advertised as an option on one of the giant TV screens behind the counter with no mention of any time constraint. I politely thanked her and rejoined my group to wait until 11. When I approached the same cashier and again requested a chicken salad sandwich, she asked me which one I want, and when I expressed confusion and said I wanted the only one listed on the giant TV screen menu, she pulled out a laminated pamphlet and started flipping through multiple types of chicken salad they apparently have (where were these menus before we entered the line or reached the cashier's counter, and why aren't these options listed on the TV screen menu?). A bit frustrated and hungry at this point but still trying to be polite, with a line forming behind me, I quickly picked one, paid, and thought that was the end of it. When my buzzer went off, I approached the first obvious pick-up counter beside the cashier's area and saw my drink waiting, but was quickly (and again, rather abruptly) told by an employee that food was at a different counter, located on the far opposite end of the restaurant. Super confusing, again, but okay. I get to the other counter to find they hadn't even made me a sandwich, but had given me a pile of chicken salad on top of a plate full of lettuce. When I caught the attention of an older woman behind the counter (who I now understand from other negative reviews to be the manager), she agreed to remake the order but seemed impatient with me and was rather rude and borderline argumentative about it, and tried to show me the ticket from the cashier which read "Chicken Salad." (I understood it was the cashier's error, not hers, but it still wasn't what I'd asked for or wanted.) She then tried to explain to me that if I say "chicken salad" they just clue in on the key word salad. Okay... I understand how the error may have happened? But I'm not really sure how else I'm supposed to go about ordering a chicken salad sandwich (??) The key word, which I'd definitely said both times I spoke to the same cashier, was sandwich. Could I just get the right item, please? I'm generally a polite and patient customer, but at this point, I felt defeated and frustrated, and really didn't appreciate being treated this way after such a long wait. She proceeded to make my sandwich in under 60 seconds at a bar full of pre-prepped items that had already been fully stocked and ready when we'd arrived, so I'm not sure why it was such a tall order to request a sandwich at 10:43, but I thanked her and was grateful to finally eat. After all of that, the sandwich was just okay -- not the best chicken salad, but the baguette was good and the side salad came with flavorful dressing. The iced tea was fine. The pastries looked much better than they tasted, and didn't seem very fresh. The consensus among our group was that everything was just okay, but not great -- a disappointment given the high price tag and wait time, and confounding ordering and pick-up process. The outdoor seating is a nice option and they had some beautiful items on display, but the customer service here leaves much to be desired. The employees all seemed rather unhappy and unfriendly, with the exception of an older male employee behind the pastry counter who greeted us with a smile. The manager was especially rude -- not hard to guess why the employees might be so unhappy. I like to support small local businesses who prioritize quality and customer service. That doesn't seem to be the case at Cocola. We left wishing we'd gone elsewhere. read more

They open late so it's a good place to stop for dessert after dinner, which is exactly what I did. Got the Vanilla Milkshake tart and the Chocolate Banana crunch cake. Both were really good. Loved the vanilla bean mousse contrasted with the crunchy graham crust. Liked the banana cake less because it was a little heavy, but I'm not a huge chocolate person anyway. This is my go-to spot for after dinner dessert / hang out. Whenever we have a girls-night-out at Santana Row, we always end up here for dessert and chat. The place is pretty small, and it gets a little chaotic on busy weekend evenings, but if you're patient, you'll eventually get a seat either inside or outside. The counters are filled with all types of cakes, cookies, buns, tarts, etc., and they have a pretty good variety of coffees and teas. Everything I've tried has been really yummy. Their lattes are a bit on the sweet side, but I'm ok indulging once in a while. What I appreciate most is they don't seem to mind if we take our time, savoring our desserts while chatting the evening away. read more

I wanted so badly to give Cocola Bakery 5 stars but unfortunately, I didn't have the best cake ordering/pick-up experience. Let me preface by saying that I first learned of Cocola Bakery when I had their Bamboo (Mango & Passion Fruit Mousse) cake at a party. It was literally one of the best cakes I've ever tasted in a while and immediately asked where it was from. Upon doing some research, it's $53.60 for a 6" whole sized cake and I felt the price was validated as the quality/texture did not disappoint. I had the opportunity to step into the bakery myself, accompanying my friend to pick up two 6" whole cakes she ordered. A staff member retrieved the two cakes and showed us what they looked like before packing them into separate single-cake boxes. The first cake was the Baccara (Raspberry & White Chocolate Mousse) and it looked so beautiful as expected. I was in love with the vibrant red color and the fruit detailing looked exactly as how it was pictured on the website. The second cake, however, clearly had flaws. It was a 3-Layer Chocolate Mousse. My friend had requested decorated frosting text to be on the top surface of the cake that reads "Happy 60 Year Anniversary". You can see this in the photo below--the letter "y" in "Happy" was smeared, the other letter "y" in "Anniversary" was illegible, and the number 60 seemed as if it was originally forgotten and then was squeezed in a tiny size... the number wasn't even in line with the rest of the text. My friend and I visibly seemed a bit unsatisfied upon seeing the cake for the last time and the staff member routinely proceeded with asking "How does this look?". My friend only pointed out that she noticed the number 60 was too small and it wasn't in line with the rest of the text, and she politely suggested if it could be fixed / if something could be done about it. The staff member half shrugged and responded with "I'm sorry". He then asked "Does it seem ok with you?" as he needed to pack up the cake. My friend who looked visibly disappointed, shrugged and said "I guess". I want to note that as this conversation was occurring, a customer was behind us waiting in line to pick up their order. They were never once acknowledged for waiting a bit long which I felt should have been done having worked in customer service before myself. After my friend said "I guess", the staff member finally acknowledged the customer before us. As he was doing so, he apparently dropped something and knelt down to the floor as he was holding onto my friend's 2 cakes which were still unboxed. I personally felt uncomfortable seeing the uncovered cake being close to the ground level. Once the two cakes were boxed, my friend asked if the two boxes could be placed in a bag so that she could easily carry it. The staff member had another staff member (who was an older woman and seemed very sweet) assist with bagging the boxes and it took a few solid minutes because the paper brown bag barely fit the two boxes and was prone to ripping. After retrieving the bag, my friend headed towards the door to leave the shop but I stopped her and asked if I could take a photo of the cakes because I wanted to document what it looked like. I took the photo inside the shop at one of the coffee tables. The cake pictured in the photo below looked exactly as how it was presented to us by the staff member. To sum, I am disappointed that our dissatisfaction with the mishandling of the cake wasn't addressed. read more

Ordered pastry and coffee for the family and a hot water for me, they gave me a small cup of hot water and they charged me $1 for the hot water, that was a little weird because most of the coffee shops they offer the hot water for free. When I asked for a refill of the hot water for the second time, the manager approached me and she said, sorry sir you are allowed to refill the hot water cup once, there was no sign that says refill only one time and we are talking about hot water here only. They give a small cup of hot water and you can only allow to refill one time, this is unprofessional, the approach was inappropriate there should be a sign so the customer will abide the sign without getting offended by requesting another refill of hot water. I'm not refilling a coffee, not refilling a Coke, I'm refilling a hot water. That was a very bad experience. I will never go back again. read more

Any day I get to eat and dine at Cocola Bakery is a good day, and my kids seem to think the same :) it's always such a treat for them. I love their lattes here; regular iced latte, white chocolate latte, mocha latte, latte with almond kind, they are all delicious. I get them half sweet and it's just perfect for me. Now onto desserts: I love their custard filled almond croissant. My kids love their chocolate croissants too but the insides aren't custardy like the almond one. I also like their apple tart, it's sweet but not too soft in the middle and the sides are nice and crispy. It's small so it won't feel too heavy when you eat it. My son got the tiramisu today and basically inhaled it. I also got the elephant ear things last time and I enjoyed picking off the pieces and eating them little by little. read more

The place looks fancy and it was at Santana Row, hence the pricey cakes. We ordered the bamboo (passion fruit mango cake) and the lemon tart and a macchiato. I've had similar dresses up cakes at other places but this one was totally underwhelming. For the price of $8 a piece, I was expecting more, but there is no difference than an ordinary cake shop. I even felt the lemon tart at whole food was tastier. Look at the pie tire and see the label tag on the cake soaked with a water mark, meaning the cake has been there for a while. Stopped by and grabbed two almond croissants because I just had lunch next door. It was very empty on a Tuesday afternoon. I was helped right away. $4.99 for an almond croissant seemed really steep but the pandemic inflation is real. We never go out for coffee and a pastry anymore so I thought it would be a nice treat for breakfast the next day. I warmed up the pastry slowly in the toaster oven because I like them warm and flakey on the outside. When I bit into it, I realized it was a custard filling and not almond paste. I was beyond disappointed- that's my favorite part of an almond croissant! How can you call it an almond croissant without almond paste inside? :( I wish I knew it was filled with custard because I wouldn't have purchased them.
