It's usually crowded with tourists in the weekends so I avoid going there at that time. The best cinnamon rolls in town! The breakfasts though... aren't that good. Ordered huevos rancheros, the beans tasted like they were from a can, as did the salsa. Ordered my eggs over medium well, got over very easy. My wife got French toast and a scrambled egg. French toast had a hint of vanilla, but otherwise very bland. Her egg was served cold. My son got the Mickey pancake, which tasted like batter. Not very fluffy or flavorful. The bacon was amazing though. Nothing tasted like it was made from scratch. We had to ask 3 times to get a refill on my wife's water, and we were walked by several times without getting a refill on my coffee. Never asked how our meal was, and I had to go to the counter to get the check. I'll still come in for the cinnamon rolls, but don't think I'll be back for breakfast. read more

Staying in the town of Truckee, we stopped in here for breakfast - it was right up my alley, as a typical small-town diner. First off, the unique, puffy mural across the back wall was catchy! We were greeted at the door, and shown to a table by a friendly server. The breakfast special is always the thing to get, and I was not at all disappointed. The coffee was really good as well. We had the toasted beef special with grilled onions and Swiss cheese, french fries and salad on the side. It was tasty, served hot, and the service was exceptional. If you have room after eating such a full meal I recommend trying the pies. I had the raspberry pie and the crust was flaky, delicious and the filling plentiful. I ordered a simple eggs and bacon breakfast with home fries. Plate comes out with bacon almost burnt on one side raw on other sides, and potatoes (can't call them home fries) almost uncooked and swimming in oil. I could see the cook while waiting at the seated counter, eating while he was cooking. I asked to send my bacon back not noticing my potatoes until they brought back my plate. I rarely complain unless my food is not cooked. This was so bad even the nice wait staff asked if everything was ok. I said no your cook is lazy and showed them the potatoes. They wanted to comp my meal, but I just put a $20 down for them and walked up the street to the Squeeze In for a much better breakfast. They were very detailed and patient with our order since we were a large party of 7. The owners daughter had amazing memory because apart from writing the order down she remembered what we each ordered. Visited Truckee during our day trip to Lake Tahoe. We spent a few hrs here for breakfast and looked around the beatiful little shops nearby. Service: We were sat immediately, because we got here as a big group was leaving. The food came out within 15 mins of ordering it. One of the fastest turn overs I've seen for breakfast restaurant. Food: I had the strawberry French toast, my girlfriend had non-dairy Belgian blueberry waffles, my step dad had the chorizo breakfast burrito, and my mom had the glazed blueberry pancakes. My mom said the pancakes were a bit too buttery and a bit heavy on the fluffiness -- not much blue berries were in it. She was hoping it could have been more filling. My step dad said the chorizo burrito was delicious and very filling. My girlfriend's Belgian waffles were in her words pretty darn good. My French toast was pretty good however it was drenched a little too much in the house made syrup. Overall good restaurant!! Would try other things on the menu for a possible 5 star rating. read more

In a land of carbs it's great to find a place where you can find a protein plate. Hubby, the teenager and me were in Truckee doing some shopping when breakfast called our name. We were seated quickly (the place was packed) and greeted by a friendly server. She had our coffee and waters out quickly. While the coffee wasn't incredible...it was good! Hubby and the teenager ordered pancakes and bacon (thanks guys) but I chose the protein plate. It included choice of meat (I chose chicken breast), boiled egg, and tomatoes. Diner food with wood paneling and brown laminate tables; mostly locals here looking for the basics. We had two egg breakfast, omelet, pancakes, and bacon, which is nice thick slices. The food is all basic with a little chorizo and hot sauce here and there.The sourdough toast is my favorite. Today's side of fruit included watermelon and cantaloupe. I ordered a veggie omelet and got a biscuit and gravy on the side. The biscuit and gravy was ok, it had soggy bacon and some sausage strips in the gravy, which threw me off a little.
