I love Starter Baker and love that Coffee Bar carries their goodies. They have amazing kouign amanns and croissants and quiches! In terms or coffee, I'm not a huge fan of the beans they use, so I usually come here for lattes or caramel lattes (I usually ask for less syrup) as a treat. It's great for a sleepy afternoon! I've had a few of their salads and yogurts and sandwiches before as well and they're all pretty tasty. The salads can be quite expensive (at least $11) and the sandwich will do if you're in a rush for lunch (I believe they have a plain turkey sandwich for about $8). For the yogurt and chia pudding you can choose two toppings (nuts, raisins, granola, etc). read more

Honestly my favorite coffee spot in SF! I come here at least once a week. The coffee is so good and the people are so nice. I usually order either a caramel or vanilla latte and a chai. The caramel and vanilla flavor is on point - just enough flavor without being overpowering. Aside from homemade chai, this chai is one of the most authentic that I've had. Oh man! I just fell in head-over-heels love... with Horchata cold brew. I don't mind the consistent 10 minute wait. I could care less about the crowded space. I would put up with so much worse to have that sweet, milky, cinnamony cold brew coffee. It is perfection in a cup. Also the Havana latte is quite delicious. Their almond milk lattes are legit too. So... basically every coffee drink I've tried here is on point. I love the convenience of really tasty coffee being just a short walk from the Montgomery St bart station. They use beans from local Mr. Espresso. There are seats to hang out on while you sip your caffeine treat and watch all the FiDi people rush by. There are many things I am and many things I'm not...a coffee connoisseur I would say is one of them (not being). I can't do black coffee, and I'm picky. Sometimes I feel like a "cheap date" with liking McDonald's iced coffee. I usually prefer Starbucks and when I am near one, Philz. I decided to head to Coffee Bar after stopping by a nearby client's office. I stopped in last Tuesday right before 10:30AM. There were still a handful of people getting coffee. It was a hard choice between the usually strong iced Vietnamese coffee and the Caramel Latte, but I chose the Caramel Latte. It was 12 oz. for $4.25, a little pricey indeed. After about five minutes or so, my coffee was ready and I took the first sip..first sip had a little bite but it was good. Second sips and beyond..OMGG..best latte ever! It was very well balanced, not too sweet, but not bitter at all and not "strong" tasting. It did give me a teeny bit of a buzz after I finished. Will definitely be back when I'm around that area of FiDi. They had a good assortment of drinks, without having a huge list like the corporate coffeehouses. They also have a $3 Paypal credit on the Paypal app for anyone that wants to save a little moola. Wish they would open a third location closer to my office! read more

My boss introduced me to Coffee Bar a week and a half ago. She told me "Starbucks and Pete's are for old people" and that "all the cute start-up boys hangout here". Being perfectly comfortable with my relationship status, I laughed. However, the coffee was definitely n times better than any cup I've had at Starbucks and Pete's, so as a result, I've come here 3 times since. I don't plan on disappearing anytime soon. It's literally a 5 minute walk from where I work. I've had the Havana Latte twice. I tried the Mocha Recchiuti today. You definitely don't need to add any sugar to the Havana Latte (it's sweet and probably extremely fattening, but also the best thing ever if you like sweet coffee -- without being overly sweet). The Mocha Recchiuti is a bit more bitter. The Mocha Recchiuti is also extremely strong, you feel energized the minute you drink it. Pretty sure I won't be able to sleep tonight! They also do cute little hearts, and other designs with the cream, you know, typical of the hipster coffee house. The only seating is outside, and I don't recommend planning on doing work here. I checked for WiFi and they have a network, but I think you have to ask for the password (it wasn't posted anywhere). It's a place to quickly meet up for coffee and chat. read more

I seriously feel like my heart is going to leap out of my chest and grab my drink to-go. My heart is racing, and I know that it's not just because of the iced Vietnamese coffee I just ordered. It's because I'm here with my coworker, with those stunning blue eyes. I'm so nervous that even with the coffee, I can barely get two sentences out. I sound slow, and just slightly more entertaining than an automated check out machine. Damn. There's a reason the line for this place is out the door in the AM. In my continual quest for the FiDi's best (almond milk) latte, Coffee Bar has been on my to-do list for a very long time. I finally plucked up the courage to take the 4 block walk to find the line almost to the sidewalk. Things move fairly quickly here, and could move even faster if you know about the $2 pour-your-own coffee option up at the counter. Yep, drop $2 into the pitcher, pour yourself the coffee from the thermos, and be on your way. That being said, if you're like me and need the espresso option, you'll have to find a good place to stand and wait once you order. I'm currently avoiding dairy (it's a Paleo thing), so needing almond milk was essential. I ordered the latte with almond milk (from Califa), which set me back $4.40. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, "why would anyone pay that much for a cup of almond milk and espresso?" My answer: Research my friends, research. And a good research expense it was. Coffee Bar served up a rich, thick, and hearty latte, and it warmed my soul. I wish this place was closer, but at $4.40 a cup, I'm also a little glad it's far away. What's the saying? Would try other bakery items as they all looked fairly drooling attractive. This Coffee Bar is very different from the original Coffee Bar. It has a slightly formal FiDi look than the more relaxed airy 2-floor shop in the Mission. It gives a clean feel and also uses Mr. Espresso beans. Do like the fact that they carry yogurt and you can pick your own toppings. Five Mountains tea is definitely a nice plus too. Service was pretty good and courteous. read more

You can't go wrong with ordering havana latte! It's good either iced of hot. I get mine with soy and it's delicious! The Vietnamese iced coffee is good too! It's not as strong as the normal Vietnamese coffee. Some of my coworkers think their lattes are too sweet but the baristas are able to make the lattes less sweet. I LOVE their latte art! read more

The ambiance is a medium sized coffee bar. At morning rush hours, Coffee Bar is usually packed with people waiting inside to indulge on some caffeine. Lines for ordering usually are out the door. The wait time isn't too bad, about 5-10 minutes before your order is made (unless if you get an iced beverage)! :) I really enjoy the lattes here and that's what I would typically order. However, this time o got a sample of the Horchata cold-brewed. It was so AMAZING,with the perfect hint of cinnamon and vanilla! I love love love this ice beverage..but it comes out to be pretty pricey at $5.60 a pop! The only sad thing I have a bit to complain was the price. Used to be one of my favorites and I went several times a week. But in the past several months, I feel like the quality has gotten inconsistent. Sort of a Goldilocks problem - the lattes or cappuccinos I walk out with are either too hot and taste burnt, or not hot enough and are basically room temperature by the time I get to my office (just next door) to drink it. They also offer a pretty cool, prepackaged yogurt bar, along with some random quinoa salads, and assorted pastries (none of which I've tried - strictly a beverage girl). Oh, and self serve coffee for $2, which I've never done either. LATTES ONLY, for me! I come in on my way to work and always expect there to be about a 10 minute wait. It's weird because it looks like there's not a lot of people in line, and after you order and wait for your drink to come up, people appear out of thin air who were apparently before you in line. So yeah, look are deceiving - be prepared to wait a little bit. It's worth it though. And there's also a location on Kearny a couple of blocks up towards Chinatown! It's a bigger store. read more

It's loaded with button mushroom halves and savory flavor. The edges were heavily sprinkled with black & white sesame seeds in which I felt it could do without; they added a crunch, but *shrug*. They are also quite efficient for the FiDi morning rush, but I'd still allow for 10-15 minutes buffer on top of where you need to be. They have two Strada espresso machines which means serious business, they use locally roasted beans, they have a snack fridge for those on the go and most importantly, they've got a crew of smiling Batista's manning those Strada's. I may hale from the Southwest, where many think all we have is a lot of sun and tumbleweeds, which is true, but Tucson, AZ has it's own craft roasters and coffee connoisseurs too. I can't begin to describe the sense of relief I felt when I found this place, as I get lost looking for a good cup of coffee that's not Peet's or SB, on my way to the office every time I come to SF for work. I went to coffee bar given that it was a place I've been wanting to try because I always walk by for my meetings. The atmosphere was honestly awesome, everybody seemed cool and just a bar like scene However, they're laid back attitude is what cost them this review. The fact I stood there for so long after ordering, not one of the staff wondered why I stood there. My order never came. It wasn't even in QUE!! To top it off they didn't even make my drink right. Not a very efficient setup. I know this is a small place, but there is something going on at every section of Coffee Bar. One part of the counter is for ordering, next to the refrigerated foods section. Another is for picking up drinks. Another is grab-n-go coffee. The back table is for lids, creamers, etc. It's just chaotic. I like that they have Vietnamese coffee! This was the one special thing that definitely stood out. Coffee without the wait. As with most people, when I want coffee I want it quickly, to taste good and strong (usually with 3+ shots of espresso). My go to is usually a red eye (double red eye 'insert assorted names for that here) with dark roast. I decided to go out of the usual comfort zone and try something new. A friend told us about this place and I'm a little upset we spent so many trips to BB (hopefully SFers will know what that is) and wait for 30min. Havana Latte. I'd recommend that... for the restaurant to only offer that... ever. What is it you ask? Why, let me describe it to you. Take a cloud. Gently warm it with a hint of steam. Flavor it with coffee. Give it a touch of sweetness. There you go. It's essentially a latte (two shots of espresso and milk) except they substitute sweetened condensed milk or the regular ole' cow juice. It's light and frothy with just the right amount of sweetness. The line system is a bit confusing when waiting in that there's sometimes little space to stand where you're actually out of someone's way, but the staff and other patrons were all relatively civil and went on about their way once they received their tithe. Well maybe my expectations were too high, but my decaf almond milk latte wasn't that special...and it actually wasn't that good. It was barely hot, which I could've dealt with had it not been so sweet. Why, oh why do these coffee shops need to use sweetened almond milk? I don't get it. Not everyone likes the taste of sugar in everything. Think of it as a math problem: you can always add (+) in sugar if you want but you can't subtract (-) it from a drink! (totally trademarking that and making an infographic for reference). Overall not impressed and sort of bummed out. I'll hold on to the remaining $15 balance on my gift card until they offer unsweetened, non-soy, plant based milk alternatives (that sounds so pretentious but I mean it in the most sincere form) or else I'll give it away to a friend. read more

This is my favorite coffee stand for regular drip coffee in the financial district. Specifically, the medIum roast. Their lattes are good. Occasionally they have an outstanding flavored seasonal latte, usually either a fall pumpkin or winter spice. In the summer, I sometimes get the horchata cold brew. It is amazing. It seems to lean to sweet and might light on the coffee. If you really need the caffeine the Vietnamese cold brew is a good alternative. Staff is always nice and often seem genuinely happy. Word of warning, I find the hot cup lids to be leaky so grab some napkins if you're walking. read more
