Came here randomly on Saturday morning. Packed with older Vietnamese men who like to smoke a cig, sip a coffee, and stare at girls 1/3 their age. That's cool. My dad was hungry so I decided to check out this place + feed the old man. Ordered pho bo with Vietnamese coffee. I flagged down a server and he was so nice to my dad. My dad is particular. He told the server he wanted the broth with no fat/grease bubbles. He wanted the meats a certain way, no fat trimming, has to be cooked, has to be this and that... I mentally face-palmed during the order but whatever. Let the old man get what he wants, usually it doesn't go his way when we eat out.. but it did! That's a first that a bowl of pho was not returned to the kitchen. The broth he wanted, the cuts of meat... the dad got it. My dad enjoyed his bowl of pho -he did complain they gave too much pho (Shhh, dad. Quantity is always good) but he finished everything. Coffee was nice and strong. Our 30 minutes there was enjoyable and relaxing. The environment (minus those creepy men) is very cute, quaint with the French flair my dad loves. Coming back for sure! read more

Their food is vietnamese with a french touch? All the Vietnamese/french restaurants tend to charge more for their food comparing to other restaurants in town, ans this place is not an exception. I like their banh mi, it tastes really good and you can really taste the quality of the meat. But too pricey for me base on the size I get and the price I pay for. So I rarely buy banh mi here. Only when I really crave for it, and everytime once I bought it I regret right away by looking the small size that I got. :( As a broke college student, I really "calculate" what's the most I can get out of my $, and this is not the place. Went to Coffee Factory for breakfast on Saturday, 8/12/207. Ordered my eggs over-easy, it came out totally well done. Friendly waiter apologized and took it back to the kitchen. When the eggs came back, it was totally cold and full of grease/oil. I suspect the kitchen staff did not throw out the well done eggs that was sent back but added a Yolk onto the old and fried it together with the old eggs because I was able to pick out the yolk and placed it on top. Horrible practice, egg is cheap. Do right by your customer, Coffee Factory. The baguette was burnt, hard and dried. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw my dad here hanging here with his homeboys on a Sunday morning. This is a legit coffee shops in the OC bubble... no naked chicks or see through lingerie here... just good old fashion café sua da. I came here for some coffee and Bo Kho (Vietnamese beef stew). The bo kho was good but it wasn't the best I ever had. The bread that came with the bo kho was super fresh though. I hear their banh mi thit nuong is really good so I'll be sure to try that next. It's a really good breakfast / lunch spot if you want something more than fast food. After reading the good reviews over the Ice Mocha, I had to give it a try. Yes, there are plenty of older men chain smoking the day away outside. Inside however, the air was more decent. Anyway, true to what other Yelpers have declared, their Ice Mochas are really, really good. They are blended, but are made from real espresso shots, not the Starbucks premade coffee base. The result: a real rich and satisfying taste. For a Double, slightly less than $4. If I lived near here, I would come here everyday. read more

Great restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They give off such a loving family atmosphere here that it makes me feel like I'm eating at home. One of the best Vietnamese coffee spots. Fresh brewed & strong espresso perfect for the soul. They have a passion fruit tea drink that is super refreshing as well. My favorite dish was bbq pork vermicelli dish. Noodles were cooked to perfection, fresh herbs and veggies used, & bbq pork held a lot of flavor. The shaken beef dish was also good. Banh Mi! This is what banh mi should be, as a lot of other French/Vietnamese inspired dishes. This place is like a cafe mixed with a restaurant. Always busy, you're lucky to find a seat if you go for a late morning breakfast. Their portions are the biggest around but that is how it should be. Who needs a foot long baguette sandwich if you're just gulping it down to get full when you can get a moderately sized one that is twice as good? I got the banh mi thit nuong (bbq pork) and the ham and cheese croissant here and left very satisfied. The baguette sandwich was very delicate and tasty and the meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The croissant was made fresh so it was hot and delicious. Let me count the ways.. The Ambiance. In the simplicity and unobtrusive setting of the place, it still has the feel and elements of a French Café/Bistro - white table toppers, bistro wall painting backdrop, french press, demitasse cups, and patrons, both young and old conversing and enjoying a cup of coffee or tea and darn good food. The Service. We got lucky and had a sweet , friendly girl for our server. In spite of the number of people already dining when we arrived, we were able to sit ourselves, order, and get our food in less than 15 minutes. Pretty efficient if you ask me. The Food. Unpretentious and yet it still feasted my eyes and palate. The place is much more than what its name conveys, a full menu of French influenced Vietnamese type of food. Although being a coffee enthusiast, I have to say that their Café Sua Nong is climbing the charts as one of the best coffee I've ever had. It's strong enough to know they use good quality espresso beans, and yet still have that tinge of sweetness from the condensed milk it's stirred with. Then there was the bread basket. It had me at first bite. The light, crispy baguette that just came fresh out of the oven is enough to make me come back for more. The two breakfast platters that we order did not disappoint either. Each came with two eggs cooked over easy, one having two slices of pate and strips of fish cakes on the other and accompanied with herbs/condiments making for one perfect bite after the next . Both are equally good, but the pate...wow, definitely a must try. Finally how do you take a bite of the Beef Stew? The minute we walked in we were greeted by the server, who was absolutely friendly. The place is very spacious and airy. We ordered the shakened beef, the meat was soft, but a little salty. I also ordered the charcuterie plate, with the three pate varieties, and it comes with two baguette. I really like this plate, and it's so affordable at 11.50, unlike other place, which charges around 25$. There lots of seats, so you don't have to stand around and wait. read more

I'd been curious to try this place for a while, so one morning, in a hangover addled quest for coffee (and by coffee I mean anything that isn't Starbucks or donut shop coffee), I stumbled in. I suppose having high expectations of caffeinated enlightenment was my first mistake. The interior was lackluster to say the least, and to say it was dirty is kind. The next thing that bothered me, and it's not such a bad thing I guess, is they didn't have simple drip coffee. Ok, no worries, I can live with espresso. They didn't have soy, so a latte or capp was out. As much as I like cafe sua da, i just wasn't in the mood for it so I ordered an americano. The espresso wasn't freshly pulled and the taste reflected that, plus it was barely warm. To top it all off, the service was appalling. Friends say their filet mignon steak & eggs is da bomb! So here i am. (30 mins. later) Well after finishing the dish, I have to say it was good, they chopped in a few pickles to give it a sour taste to it, which was a nice touch. And the steak is cubed and not whole. It didn't matter much. The cubes were over a tangy bed of salad. I had my eggs over-easy. There's a dipping sauce which tasted much like the maggi sauce & sirarchi hot sauce combined. It also includes a small size french bread to wipe off all that oozing egg yolk goodness that just flows everywhere. But why I gave it a 3 star?...well it's (including tax)...a 12$ meal. Pretty steep for a breakfast meal. Just down the street I can get the same exact thing for under 9$. Oh well you win some you lose some. read more

I have taken more double (with an extra shot of espresso for $3) cafe sua da here over the years than any where else in little saigon and they almost always satisfied my caffeine fix. Coffee Factory as well as a few other noted cafes in area use espresso presses for a cleaner and more potent brew versus the tradition drippers. Ask for more milk, or less milk depending on your preference. There is this drink i noticed the other day that looked interesting but i haven't tried and it was espresso poured over fresh avocado. I'm not sure if this would do anything for me, but I think I would like to try it at least once. When hungry and in a hurry, I recommend the banh mi cha ca chien (vnmese sandwich with fish cake), or banh mi with smoked salmon to go. When hungry and have time to kill, sit down for a bo kho (vnmese beef stew with basil) with french bread, or try it like how i like it with rice noodles, the bun bo kho. The best time to visit is lunch, and bring a couple of good buddies with time to kill, because at Coffee Factory, friends and talks rule, food and drinks are just technical necessities. Yo, I second this banh mi thit nuong and the ice coffee. Bread and the way they marinate the meat is way different from all the other vietnamese sandwhich joints. Ice coffee is made different and is not too sweet, it's just right. Try out the seafood omelette too. They serve it with the french bread and a special soy sauce, I think it's called Maggi. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The smokers outside is funny. I've yet to come here without there being a group chatting. Great drinks! I came here out of the blue just to get a milk tea with boba and lychee, an avocado smoothie with boba, and a sandwich. The drinks both have a savoring taste and the boba is just right and not soggy. I must admit, this is the first place I've been to where they grind the ice; that's a pro bono. Next the sandwich. I've always loved Lee's Sandwich but I will give the sandwich here a 4 out of 5. It's good and filling when needed. Lastly, the staff is very nice. They gave us time to decide what to get without rushing us. If I ever go to Westminister again, I'll definitely come back to try other drinks. It totally won me over. read more

Greedy owner! When we ask for water they did not bring water out for us. The restaurant was very busy, because it was during lunch time on Labor Day weekend, understandable... so we decided to come to the cashier count to pay and order the ice tea instead. When we pay and order the ice tea, the lady I believed was the owner, she said the bill wasn't included tip. I said we will leave the tip at the table... she said why don't you give it here. I said no we will leave at the table.... then she pointed to us on the receipt, here is the tip amount, which was calculated at 15%, 20%, and 25%.... and she made the tea and ask us can you guys take the tea to the table with you because she was busy. We took the tea, went back to the table.... decided to gave 20% tip on a $100 bill because the servers were friendly and nice... :) we stand up and left, the owner walk straight to our table from the cashier counter and grabbed the tip money... I like this place because unlike many Vietnamese sandwich places, they don't simply stuff their sandwiches with pickled this and pickled that... they actually put food with no preservatives in it!.. well, I guess I cant say no preservatives.. but definitely doesnt taste like it! My favorite is the egg sandwich and the fish sandwich. YUM. Coffee tastes good too. The only thing about this place is the sandwiches are actually quite expensive. A sandwich may cost 5 dollars... If you arent picky, then maybe u'll rather spend 2 dollars on a pickled sandwich... but its nice to get a delicious Vietnamese style sandwich on a soft bagguette once in a while. read more

Beverages come and go. The only beverage that has survived for centuries is coffee. How come? Coffee is a social product. It brings love, warmth, and harmony. Hot or cold, coffee is a complete culture. Coffee does not make a difference in nationality, skin color, society or age. The Coffee Factory introduces this culture and philosophy. This establishment is just a few minutes walk from our house. We ordered two large vietnamese coffee -- and it tasted great. No wonder this coffee shop is legendary. VERY STRONG coffee. The ambiance is cozy and they have a very attentive and friendly staff, although they speak little English. They also serve food for lunch or dinner very good and quality. The menu has a lot to choose from but you must try there steak and eggs side of rice with eggs easy on top; this is one of the best. This place has a cheap breakfast menu. They also serve cold cuts. Must try!!! According to various recipes across the board, it should be made with double the amount of coffee you're used to--and it was very clear that my version would've been nearly undrinkable without the milk. I didn't want to like its sweetness, but found it strangely addictive--dangerous, when you calculate the caffeine content. Within a minute, my companion's iced coffee was gone, as the ice further dilutes the strength of the coffee. Our waiter said the coffee was his favorite drink to sit and linger with, both morning and evening. However, I saw it more as a dessert drink, especially if it was scalding hot. If the iced version was blended and topped with whipped cream, it could knock a Frappuccino out of the park. Friends tell me many Vietnamese restaurants in the United States use pre-ground coffee with chicory, but a good espresso blend or any beans that lack acidity should work. In my dreams we'd all make our own sweetened condensed milk, but restaurants that sell huge plates of food for $6 may not stray from the canned variety. And stay far, far away from the restaurants that premix the coffee for you. Most of the fun comes from stirring the milk at the bottom, lifting your spoon, and letting the thick globs drip off. read more
