I have visited Coffee Republic many times in the past few years. They offer a wide variety of tasty foods and the space is pleasant, but the prices can be steep and the service is occasionally lacking. On a recent visit I made the mistake of clearing my own table and was made to feel a bit awkward about it. And today the sandwich I ordered (which I normally love) had an excessive amount of Dijon mustard. First time customer today. I had heard really good things about this place. I was there in the afternoon, service was excellent and the store was not overly crowded. I ordered a turkey sandwich and it was excellent tasting. The potato salad was even better. I prefer sandwiches that are not messy, this isn't that, it was messy. But because they do not skimp on product. It was excellent I just powered through the mess! Lol I ordered a beer while I waited for the to go order. I've given this coffee house so many chances to change my mind, cause the food is actually really good, when they can get my order right. Every time, I get the same thing, a tea and a bagel with avocado. I've never waited under 30 minutes for two small things. I can be the first person in line when i walk in and will still wait over 30 minutes for just a bagel. They will have one person on drinks and two people on register(when there doesnt need to be) and the food gets neglected. Most of the time when I recieve my bagel its wrong and will have egg added to it. I never would of wrote this if it didn't happen to me Every. Single.Time, I've ate there. They have zero time management here, and need a different system for their employees to be more efficient at food. Their customer service is great and they have nice employees with good personalities, they just have no idea how to get food out in a timely fashion. The wait for a bagel has stopped me from buying anything else on their menu cause I've seen people wait my whole visit for a sandwich. Don't eat here unless you have a good 45 minutes to spare. My husband and I came here on a very busy Saturday morning for brunch. We ordered the veggie avo toast and the so-Cali breakfast burrito. Both items were delicious, however it seemed like the toast was somewhat thrown together. The feta cheese was all crumpled up on one side, the onions on the other - maybe the kitchen was rushing because of the busy time but would have been nice to have the cheese sprinkled across the entire piece of toast. Aside from that, the flavor profile was amazing, and the spicy basalmic was a delicious and interesting kick to an otherwise ordinary toast. The service was friendly and we didn't have to wait in line long even though there was a line to the door. Love the outside area and the jazz duo that was playing outside. I've always loved Coffee Republic. I don't know why so many people don't go there. I mean it's a busy place but it's like many Folsom residents are afraid to go to non-commercial coffee shops. This is a great place especially because of the Herbal, Green and Black Teas. I like Darjeeling with milk. A real old indian grandmother's old-fashioned chai. "Good for the bones" especially when she poured the tea lightly color. Coffee Republic is in somewhat of a centralized but unfortunately antiquated location for local folsomites. It will probably always be right where its at for a whole lot longer too. Too bad most people are starbucks zombies. CR is a cool, real life alternative. It's a grind apparently couldnt hang. Java city, nope. Coffee republic has great breakfast bagel sandwiches and all kinds of baked goodies and lunch items as well. Good place for a business or love interest date too. read more

My family and I LOVE this place. When the weather is nice we like to walk there for breakfast on the weekends. Yes, you will have to wait a little longer because they are always busy, but the best things are worth waiting for. In the 7 plus years we have been going there, I have never had anything I didn't like. Breakfast burittos, oatmeal specials, sandwiches, salads and soups. I'm pretty broken hearted about this review but it has to be done so that I don't unknowingly invite a hopeful expectant goer into a trap (ITS A TRAP!) The past few times we've come here, our disappointment chart gets another check. The servers have started getting more and more unfriendly. My husband has had issues with standing at the counter for an unexplainable amount of time waiting to order while workers are chatting, flirting, texting, etc in the back. My main reason and push into this latest and sad update was last weeks total debacle. Let me lay it out for you: We go in to order breakfast before I have to head to a company event. We have 1 hour to order, eat, and head out. Seems reasonable right? I usually order something off the chalkboard menu but this particular morning I saw advertised a Chicken Sausage and Brie stuffed Croissant. Um yumm!! They have a similar sandwhich that is phenomenal so I think, 'YES this will be a success!' My husband orders pear something or other oatmeal, we each get coffee, and boogie to a table with our number to wait. (BTW they are always out of creamer on the coffee bar so be prepared to have to take it up to them to refill) About 20 minutes go by and we are a little surprised we haven't gotten our food yet. Finally the girl who took our orders originally called my husband up to the counter. She told him they were out of what I ordered so I need to reorder something else...I'm still unsure of why she asked him up but whatever. So he sends me up there. She tells the whole shebang again and asks what I want. I kind of get testy and ask 'if you're out of it why do we still have this little plaque on the counter up instead of taking it off for the rest of the day?' And let the truth be heard! She then informs me that they had one croissant left but (and I quote) "the oven ate it up so its pretty much done for" Ummmm what? The oven ate my breakfast? Did you forget to feed the thing this morning and this was punishment? Does the oven demand a tax every morning and like me, was craving this delicious sounding dish and finally couldn't resist his urges anymore? So my response was, huh the oven ate it....ok..... She then asks 'do you want the cheese and sausage on a bagel?' No. I have braces, yes thats right, adult braces, I know I know I get it but that's beside the point today. So, no. I can't eat bagels. So I say can I have the sausage and brie sandwhich then? (Again, I've eaten it before, I know its good, and its toasted not oven roasted so the darn hungry oven can't take another bite outta my food!) She tells me no since I ordered a $4.50 plate and that costs $9.50. I glance at my watch and see I have now 15 minutes to order eat and get to my places! I'm beyond dumbfounded, she offers no apology, and is staring at me with eyes that were saying rude and not nice things. She says I can however put the sausage and brie plainly on the squaw bread (the other sandwhich comes on squaw bread) and it'd be fine. I say whatever, sit down in a huff, bitch and moan to my hubby, he gets flustered, we grab our food finally and hightail it home, promising we won't go back. I took two bites of this gross conglomerate... I gave an extra star for 2 reasons. One, out of respect for what this place used to be when real managers were supervising and actually understood customer service and, two the food still has potential if the oven doesn't eat it or their poor social skills don't sour it. read more

We were in there the other morning and the service was painfully slow. The dark haired girl behind the counter did not seem to give a rip about anyone and did not look like she wanted to be there. The owner came out from the kitchen to take our order and she was fine. There is a sign on the counter that reads "If you are irritable, grouchy or just plane mean there will be a $10 service charge." The gal with the dark hair should have been handing out $10 to everyone. Our order took so long we had to get it to go and that just put her in a tizzy. I've had the "Sweet Double Black" on three occasions here so far. The girls taking our orders were always pleasant but the male barista here seems arrogant. Ask a question and he seems to be irritated that you spoke to him. The coffee itself was pretty ordinary, though very bitter on one occasion. As for the location it's got a unique interior and decor, though it seems dusty. Their food menu is vast and a little pricey. A basic ham, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich is over $8. If you sit outside I recommend not using the table next to the big map as we were annoyed by flies the whole time. This didn't seem to be a nuisance for other areas. Overall, the yelp scale sums it up: "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

My expectations/excitement + actual experience = wah wah wahhh I've been wanting to visit Coffee Republic for a long time. Finally was in the neighborhood and hungry. Perfect! Got there about 1:00. The line was out the door (phew - the hype is real). Finally get up to the counter. I ordered a special sandwiched featured on the board plus an iced coffee (as well as stuff for others in my party). I was told they were out of croissants. So I asked if I could order the sandwich but sub bread instead (would have been nice to have that offered - ya think...maybe). The employee said I could. One of our drinks was up before our order was even done. I had to ask if it was our drink for which I was told "yeah probably". Okay. My coffee came up pretty quickly as well. Next, we sat down inside since outside, clean tables were scarce. Waited. Waited. Waited. Watched others get their orders. Waited. Waited. Aha! Our order came! Yay! Rejoice. Mind you what was ordered were two items from the cold case and 1 sandwich. What took so long - no idea. We all start digging in and I realize something is missing on mine. Eggs. Basically I have a sandwich with spinach and mushrooms. So, I go up to read the board that the special sandwich was featured on - and it's gone! They've switched it out. So now, I have to ask someone at the counter because I'm not sure what I ordered since its been quite a while. The person I asked has to ask someone else. They say yeah. I go sit down. A woman comes by on her way back from doing something else and grabs my plate. She brings it back in less than a minute - with maybe a half of egg slapped on the sandwich (that I had already taken a bite out of). It took her longer to come to my table than it did for them to "fix" the mistake. She never apologized. She grabbed my plate and returned that's it. I even said "thank you" for which she said "uh huh". Then as I'm eating the sandwich, which is tasty - I realize it's not even what I ordered. It has pesto on it and the sandwich I ordered had a chipotle sauce. So basically they made me whatever they felt like. Typing this now I'm upset I took this type of treatment - at the time I was overly hungry and grateful for food. Shameful service or lack there of was excused due to my hungry state. For a place that has "coffee" in the title I'd imagine maybe one of the employees could muster up a smile or some pep. Throughly disappointed and I won't be back. read more

I've been coming here for almost two years now and the only reason I come back is because I know the food here CAN BE phenomenal . Over the past year I've stopped coming as often because every other time I ordered my usual cranberry feta melt something always went wrong . Whether I asked in advance for NO BACON ( due to culture reasons ) and watched them take it off because they accidentally put it on and hand it to me OR forgot to put cranberry on my CRANBERRY FETA MELT OR when they gave me chicken that felt like rubber on your teeth and refused to give me a refund OR when I had to wait AN HOUR at 6 am (with no line) for them to tell me they can't make my burrito OR when I just ordered their turkey pesto melt and found a blonde strand of hair woven in the shredded pieces of turkey in my sandwich . I've hit my limits with them and I'm tired of giving them chances . read more

I work at Mercy folsom hospital it when I'm not on call for the operating room I sometimes try to get down here for lunch. I live in elk Grove so I try to come somewhere close in case I get called in for an emergency. I usually have a nice lunch, everything made usually have a nice lunch, everything made to order. I don't know what their problem was today, but it was almost comical. My girlfriend had to bring her food back three times, because each time they tried to fix it... They would mess it up again. Frustrated, getting a little upset, I wanted to shout out " C'mon guys"!!! If I messed up three times on the same patient I would be in a world of trouble. Everybody makes mistakes, but three times in a row? On the same item? I think I may have to find some other place to go in town, I'm not sure yet. read more

Went in for breakfast. There were no prices posted the morning I went. I ordered a burrito and was shocked to discover (after I had ordered it) that it was $10! I assumed it must come with some side dish for that price...no it didn't I ordered the egg and cheese burrito to go - when I opened it to eat some of it, THERE WAS NO CHEESE. The egg was solid, not scrambled. It was a huge sized burrito, but it did not taste good with this solid egg interior, and so I ended up tossing it. I had also ordered a Latte, which was very good. They are pricey, though! I shall return, they have a huge menu so I should be able to find something tasty! Nice interior and really nice, fresh garnishes set up for their customers!
