Hmm... ok so the last two visits here have really left a sour taste in my mouth. And that's not a good look for Ice cream. Not sure if it's the lack of management on a day to day but the employees really are starting to 1. Lack cleanliness and 2. Lack customer service. Hubby and I usually stop by on Sundays, this particular day, it wasn't very busy but the girl seemed rushed. She made my usual, very lazily. She didn't wash her hands after handling cash from another customer, you can tell she was sick (or getting sick) and then proceeded to slap together my ice cream- which on this day was really soft so she didn't mix it well. I said thank you, went home - mixed it some more and put it in the freezer to harden. Last time, it was about 11:20 on a weekday; the door showed that it was supposed to be open at 11. I made eye contact after tugging on the door twice with one of the workers and not once did she indicate a sign of apology or even a "give us 5 minutes" hand gesture.... I attempted again 10 min later, same deal. An older couple walked up and they were told by someone (finally) who looked like a manager, that was out helping the second time I came around, to give them some time. Over 35 min after the opening time -- didn't get the cake for the event (from them) as I planned. So disappointing. read more

I went here with my sister right after we finished at Claire's. We were the only ones there at the time we came which was 3pm or so and shortly after other customers came in. We weren't ready to order so we let the other customers that came in AFTER us order first. The lady that I had let order first told us we can just go ahead and place our orders since her daughter had changed her mind and didn't know what to get. She even told the employee that we were there before her and that she can help us out once we were ready...finally my sister and I walked to the front, I told my sister to do her order first and when she told the worker what she wanted, the worker (ASIAN GIRL WITH PURPLE HAIR) said okay with the biggest attitude and then rolled her eyes right in front of us. After that i didn't want to order anymore. My sister and I looked at each other confused as hell on why she was being rude to us because we were nice when we came in. I even said hi to her and asked how her day was going, mind you she didn't acknowledge me and just walked away?? (Which should have been the first red flag of her terrible service) Anyways, my sister goes to the register to pay for her ice cream (even after all the attitude the worker gave us) and I overheard the employee say "skip the tip button" again rudely as if we were gonna tip her after how she treated us. We went there on Dec. 29, 2017. The ice cream itself was good. They work fast and deliver in due time in spite of line that can be to the door as we noticed the few times we have been there. What was a turn off this time is, my spouse used her American Express gift card. Because it is self service she marked "No Tip" on the credit card terminal. We went to another store where she wanted to spend the remainder of the balance on the card but the remaining balance was less than what she expected. She found out later that Cold Stone charged a 20% tip according to the phone number she called at American Express. The charge on heir receipt showed what she approved but the actual charge was higher. That is unacceptable. read more

I noticed the girl behind the counter had long fake nails and wearing no gloves . Immediately I was disgusted because long fake nails hold bacteria under them . Picked up the six pack of cupcakes for a birthday celebration. I started by taking a small bite of the Oreo cookie on top and it was soggy, but thought maybe that was because it had been frozen. I immediately tasted something like pinesol cleaner very strong. I spit it out. At the same time my husband took a bite out of the entire cupcake and unfortunately swallowed it. It begin to burn his throat and it had a very strong taste and smell of the cleaner. His throat kept burning overnight, so went to urgent care this morning. We also notified cold stone last night so they could pull any others off their shelf - not sure if they did. Health department has been notified. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We came out of a movie at 9:20 PM and wanted some ice cream. The place didn't seem to be closed despite the signs saying closed at 9 PM. I was pleasantly surprised that they let us in. One of the store clerks told us that they're actually open until 11 PM now and that the store signs will be changing tomorrow. All right, good, we're not being jerk customers right now then. But that was where the pleasantry ended. Despite not being even close to closing time, the little guy taking our order was more than impatient in listening to our order. He would cut us off in the middle of our sentences and say "uh huh what else", yes hi I would've told you what else if you didn't interrupt me thanks. He made us super uncomfortable with his "I hate you for being here" face. Someone else in our group wanted to try the creme brulee flavor that was being promoted in the window. The girl she spoke to nearly laughed in her face and said "we don't do that flavor anymore". Okay...well that's no laughing matter since we were justified in thinking you DO have that flavor since it's on the window. Even though the store wasn't closing until 11 PM, and we were there at 9:30, every single employee was closing up shop. They were taking signs off, mopping the floors, doing everything EXCEPT tending to the many customers still waiting to order. The worst of all was when the store was still full of customers, they were making fun of them RIGHT IN OUR FACES. One girl mocked our group for wanting creme brulee and was imitating our friend in a bratty voice as we WATCHED the rest of her co-workers egg her on. I'm honestly fuming just thinking back to this. Management: if you're reading this, please do something about the bratty high school employees who were working at this location on the night of 12/26/16 at around 9:30 PM. Ordered a birthday ice cream cake earlier this year online, a week ahead of the event (the farthest out you can). One cake, simple "Happy Birthday [name]" message; nothing special. When I went to pick it up, they couldn't find it. I pulled up the receipt on my phone and the person working the counter said (or at least claimed) they didn't know how to use the computer to look it up. After ten minutes of searching the freezer (must be a big freezer!) she came out with the only cake, which happened to be mine but without the writing on it. No label; nothing. After hastily writing the message, I was only 20 minutes later than planned to my kid's birthday party. The cake was frozen solid. The kids didn't care but cutting it sure was a chore. Things go wrong sometimes. I get that. Two months later and another birthday was coming up. Kid wanted an ice cream cake, too (this is the ONLY reason for the two star review: the cakes are really good when you can get them and they're not completely frozen). Same thing; I ordered a week out which was the earliest I could, and made sure to call the store twice in the interim--in the middle of the week, and the day of--to be sure they'd have the cake. Well, I went to pick it up for the party that evening, and surprise, surprise: they AGAIN couldn't find it four hours later and again didn't know how to work their own computer to look it up. This time it wasn't hidden in their Raiders of the Lost Ark ice cream vault, though, which they again took ten minutes of searching to verify. I ended up having to take several smaller cakes, which luckily worked out alright, but made the decorating I had to do while corralling toddlers far more work than it should have been. So, I guess it could be good to walk in and grab something (although they're always understaffed in addition to being incompetent), but don't expect them to get your order right or bother to learn from their repeated mistakes. read more

Delicious! My girlfriend and I visit frequently, each time receiving fast and friendly service with delicious treats that are well worth the price. Absolutely recommend this location. The only issue I have with it is the little amount of space inside, it's hard to walk around the creamery due to it being so cramped. But that's the only complaint I have. I went in today with my granddaughter to relax with some ice cream and wasn't greeted by Brandy, so I asked for a sample of the vanilla ice cream and was given a sliver! I mean smaller than a mustard seed! Well I remember once upon a time when it was a fun place to come to, they sang for their tips and smiled when you entered. It says everywhere they close at 10:00pm but they actually lock doors much earlier, we had ourselves and 3 other people come to the store but the girls willing acted like they didn't see us and on knocking they were discussing internally should we let them in or not. I had the cotton candy with graham cracker pie crust mixed in and it was a smooth, creamy and delicious treat! They also offer milk shakes and smoothies if your looking for something cool to drink while you shop around. There isn't much seating indoors, but you'll find plenty outdoors in the beautifully landscaped shopping areas. Went in recently with our almost-3 year old to get him a nice treat for doing so well at potty training. The ice cream was delicious, of course it is! (It always is!) The girl that "helped" us was really standoffish and somewhat rude, she seemed very irritated or something, even though we were excited and friendly. Another guy, possibly manager...? seemed pretty spacey too. They were okay enough, service was a good speed. They just seemed bothered that they had to be at work, it really isn't fun to fork over money for overpriced ice cream when people have that attitude. Didn't they used to sing? I just remember Coldstone having such a good reputation for friendly employees. Anyway, the kicker was when my little guy was trying to scoop his ice cream (sitting nicely at the table, behaving) and he scooped his cup right off the table onto the floor, ice cream side down. :( Luckily he had a few bites before that, but the people behind the counter who noticed, not only didn't bother to offer him another little bit of ice cream, they actually handed me a handful of paper towels when I asked for a wet rag to clean it up. Seriously? I mean you obviously don't have to give him free ice cream, but wouldn't you...? I would. Or at least have offered to clean it up and said "hey don't worry about it, it's my job and I've got it." Maybe that's the "starbucks" in me. The ice cream is good though, we'll probably order a cake through them for his bday because he really liked the few bites of cotton candy ice cream + mini marshmallos that he had. I unfortunately had to get one in salinas last time and it was horrible she used barely any topping on the biggest size you can get and touched her hair with her gloves then made everyone's ice creame with the hair gloves .. yeah it was grose . Seems like they are just there for a paycheck. Luckily we have this store and this store has james, he is very friendly , he has great customer service and just makes a good ice creame all around. I will not be going back to salinas. I've come here many times and usually have a normal service experience but it always smells strongly of cleaning product and I usually have to keep the door cracked open to be able to breath in there. I was there on 3/24/23 around 3 pm and I got my kids ice cream. I saw in their refrigerator they had some ice cream sandwiches so I grabbed the 4 pack for home. We went to eat them tonight and my son said," they smell like the inside of coldstone." My husband and one son ate theirs despite it smelling like cleaning products. I took a bite and couldn't go any further. I'm afraid some disgruntled employee has mixed in cleaning product into the ice cream. Especially after reading the reviews to see if this has happened to anyone else. I don't have time to return them as we leave for spring break tomorrow. I've kept the rest in our freezer in case someone gets sick and we have to have them tested. So disappointed. Strong chemical smell doesn't mean something is clean. Clean shouldn't leave anything behind, especially fragrance. Try a different cleaning product that doesn't make your whole store and the refrigerated food smell like it. read more

It's been years since I've been to Coldstone, and on a whim, decided to swing by after dinner in the mall. I used to love the sweet cream ice cream, with its smooth, clean flavor; this time, however, it had absolutely no flavor. It also seemed overly icy, a common problem with Coldstone's ice creams--I'm sorry, but ice cream shouldn't be watery! I'm always overwhelmed by the different mix-in's Coldstone offers, and wound up choosing Kit-Kat, probably not the best complement for the sweet cream ice cream. I should have opted for fruit, but wasn't too wowed by their overly processed fruit options--I prefer the fresh fruit you can find in most froyo shops. Honestly, probably won't be back here anytime soon--with Myo's froyo empire expanding on the Peninsula from Cannery Row to a second location on Alvarado in the coming month, I'll probably be sticking with tastier froyo instead. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE... EVER! Now that I'm not able to leave the house because of COVID-19, I've decided to leave a review for my incredibly unsatisfactory experience at this Cold Stone location. I was in Monterey visiting my niece in January, and we decided to get some ice cream as a treat. Never again. The service was absolutely awful. The girl with the colored hair and piercings, Michelle (I asked her name before leaving), was so impolite to me and my niece. She was incredibly impatient, and kept trying to rush us even though we were the only people in the store. We even had to get her attention to actually order the ice cream because she was busy looking at her phone. Next time I take my niece here, the customer service needs to be better, or we're not coming back. If anybody gets laid off because of this COVID-19 situation, I hope it's her. read more

The main reason I am giving 5 Stars is because of Déjà. I went to CS today for some yummy-ness and Déjà took care of us and she made the experience most excellent with her GREAT attitude. I have been In customer service for 25 years so I tend to watch employees interacting with customers. Déjà greeted every single person who walked through the door, she was busy with other customers but she never skipped a beat. She made everyone feel as important as the next. I went to CSC on Monday night and have been going there for years. I must say, I've usually had exceptional service and more than I asked for. However, this was not the case Monday. The first young girl did not acknowledge I was there and was looking away. Finally, I said "hello" and she asked what I wanted. I told her, but refused to make it and handed it off to her partner. Horrible service. When my boyfriend entered the store there was one customer in front of me in line. As that customer was being helped by the one employee of the three that actually did their job, he waited at the counter for about 10 minutes while the other 2 employees talked to each other. When the one responsible employee told the other 2 that they had a customer, one of the two smiled at him and said "Oh he doesn't mind". Shortly after that, one of the two asked for the order. He waited another 10 minutes while that employee came back and asked to repeat the order twice. Only positive experience was good icecream. Horrible service.
