Nice neighborhood diner. The fam went for breakfast . Food came out nice and hot and exactly how we ordered it. Friendly and helpful service. Only issue was the home fries could use a little more seasoning, they were very bland. We had the fried fish and eggs, fish was crispy, hot and delish. Banana pancakes good as well. Would definitely return

The food was really good. I went with a friend for lunch and it was my first time. The service was good and fast, and they wanted to make sure you were happy. The ambiance was like going to your aunts or grandma's house, and you know you are going to eat well.

We walked in on early Saturday morning and this place was just OK. Nothing crazy to really say much about. At first we walked in and we were cold, he wasn't on and I think after someone finally complained about it then we started feeling it. The food was delivered on time at all but it was just plain and basic. I wouldn't return here, there's nothing that's gonna suck your taste buds on fire. It's just a place that I think you should go to grab a quick breakfast and then continue on with your day.

My breakfast was going fine, not great, until I found a roach in the middle of my omelette. They don't have to worry about me, paying for this or eating here again.

Just had lunch with my mom at the diner. I was a bit disappointed this time. I've been here several times and the food had always been good. Today my mom had the Oxtails with Rice which I should have order because it was good. I especially liked the sauce that they were cooked in. We chose this diner today because I had a taste for Meatloaf something that I hadn't had in about two years. I was disappointed because it was so bland, definitely needed some seasoning. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were good. So I'll take my meal home and add a little flavor. This is a nice neighborhood diner with a lot of regulars. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I had to change my 3 star to a 4 star because every other meal here has been pleasant.

Ok so I really don't do a lot of ratings. But this morning I feel that I must. Just got back from having breakfast and I must say. This is my first time coming to this Dinner and it won't be my last. The Food was absolutely amazing and the service was top quality. My hostess was a Gorgeous and Friendly Lady Name MERY. Besides having a beautiful smile, which is a great way to start the day. She was very attentive Folks definitely come here. I am sure the other hostess are good. But Mery I will be looking for her again.

I started with the tamarind margarita. The tamarind flavor was a bit subtle and the drink was on the sweeter side, but it was pretty good. I also tried the passionfruit mojito, which was a little more tangy and strong. My husband enjoyed the strawberry mojito and tom collins. To eat, I had the burrata avocado toast. It was a great portion size, with two large pieces of toast. However, the flavor was a bit bland. My husband was happy with the chorizo omelette, which was also quite large. The decor is tasteful and they have digital menus on tablets. They also have a nice outdoor seating section. Perfect for date night (or day!)

On a beautiful afternoon, we decided to grab a table on the patio, and it was the perfect choice. The outdoor seating created a relaxed, inviting atmosphere that made it easy to settle in and enjoy brunch. The restaurant itself has a modern, stylish aesthetic that feels elevated without being pretentious. From the moment we sat down, the service was exceptional. Our server was attentive, welcoming, and struck that perfect balance of checking in without ever making us feel rushed. Now, let's talk about the food. The Tres Leches French Toast completely exceeded my expectations. I've had plenty of French toast over the years, but this one stood out. It was incredibly soft and fluffy with beautifully crisp edges, creating that perfect contrast in texture. The tres leches flavor was rich enough that it genuinely didn't need syrup--a rare compliment for French toast. Every bite was indulgent without feeling overly sweet. Paired with the perfectly cooked apple-smoked bacon and a bowl of fresh fruit, it was one of the better brunch plates I've had in quite some time. I also ordered the strawberry mimosa, which was bright, refreshing, and not overly sweet. It was the perfect companion to brunch. We couldn't leave without trying the Chicken Burrata Sandwich, and I'm so glad we did. The burrata was fresh and creamy, the chicken was juicy, and the spicy sauce added just enough heat to keep every bite interesting without overpowering the sandwich. Then there was the bun--soft, fresh, and sturdy enough to hold everything together. It tied the entire sandwich together beautifully. The fries deserve their own mention. Golden brown, perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside--exactly how fries should be. Between the beautiful setting, genuinely attentive service, and food that delivered across the board, 179 Bar & Grill earned every one of these five stars. It's the kind of place that's just as good for a casual brunch as it would be for bringing friends or celebrating a special occasion. I'll absolutely be back--and next time, I'm already planning to explore more of the menu.

My go-to's are ALWAYS the kale Caesar salad, truffle fries and the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese is more of a cream sauce so it's not gooey like traditional Mac and cheese, but the flavor makes me come back to it every time I come. The truffle fries are always fried to perfection and pair so well with the Caesar salad (you can tell they make their own dressing). When I wanna switch it up I get the smashburger which is pretty good! I had my birthday dinner here last year so it was my family's first time coming here, so they all got smashburgers and were very pleased by the high quality of the meat and the flavor. I also like that they have mocktails! I don't drink so it's nice to have a mocktail option. I've only tried the Give Me A Minute mocktail which I'm very loyal to. It's a bit tart and sweet (the lavender syrup really brings it together), and I look forward to it each time I visit. Met the owner recently and he was very nice! Forgot to mention this in person but figure I'll put it here--if you add another plate option deal (happy hour?) that includes the Caesar salad, fries and a side of the Mac and cheese, me and my girlfriends would rather give you guys our money instead of venturing out to the city! Definitely consider coming here with some girlfriends after work for a nice drink and good eats. I've even come to dine on my own and enjoyed myself. One of my friends swears they have the best ice cream for dessert. Not sure if they still do trivia nights (never went but I'm hopeful! Seems like a fun time).

More of a creamy preparation, rather than cheesy or gooey. The wild mushroom pizza was tiny. The crust was a little chewy, but nice rich flavor. My husband enjoyed the lobster bucatini, but would've liked more pieces of lobster.

The process for making reservations has not changed, simply send an email with your requested date/time and they'll confirm or offer alternatives. They seem to be limited in reservations or they book fast, so don't wait. I can definitely see why as well, for just $36 you can get a 3-course meal. Thats such an amazing deal! On the night we visited, they had a unique menu that included some Asian and Indian dishes. In true fashion, we were seated promptly and offered a basket of fresh bread. But it's not just one type of bread in there, its a variety of delicious, freshly baked bread. I especially love to dip the rosemary bread in the olive oil they provide. I started my meal off with their leek risotto. It was pretty good but I would have loved a more bolder flavor. My hubby had the pork dumplings which were delicious! The outer dumpling shell was moist and soft, while the inside was cooked well with hints of ginger. Next up, for my main entree I had the crispy salmon which came with 2 potato pierogies, all on top of a butter-garlic sauce. The salmon was visually beautiful. The skin was indeed crispy and the overall texture was perfect with a tasty sauce. However, the flavor could've used just a little salt. I also wished they went with a different, more hearty side. The pierogies left me feeling like I needed a bit more to fill me. On the other hand, my partner had the Shrimp Biriyani. Not only was it beautifully made, but it tasted delicious! The basmati rice was on-point and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Even the aorma of the dish was delicious. To round out my meal, I chose the pineapple crostada which included vanilla ice cream. It was exactly what I needed to end my meal and very delicious. Overall it was a good meal. In terms of service, the staff and students were pleasant and welcoming however, things were slower than I've known it to be in the past. We had a long wait after our entrees, just for dessert. I don't know why but we waited a while throughout the service. For reference, our reservation was at 6:30pm but we did not leave until 9. We did not get any explanation or updates along the way. If there is anything I would suggest, it is there reservation process. Although I understand this is a school/community initiative, their process seems outdated. Moreover, sometime the person answering the emails can be very short with responses. A bit more proactiveness would be helpful. For example, when I reached out to make my recent reservation, I inquired about 2 dates and times. Someone responded and said they were "booked". That was literally it. I had to email back and ask for further availability, then additional emails to provide my contact info and confirm. A more appropriate response would've been to inform the customer of the unavailability then ask if they had another day in mind or let them know a few dates available. It feels more welcoming and cuts down the back and forth. Ultimately, it would be nice to see them have an online reservation system. A simple Microsoft or google form is probably the simplest way and convenient for all. Overall, it was a good experience, as usual. I'm so glad to see the service is still in service and offering such a great meal at an affordable price. I will definitely be returning and I will continue to recommend it to others!

Unfortunately, the experience went downhill because of the wait. We arrived and were seated around 7:45 PM, but we didn't receive our food until about 9:15 PM. We ordered a Caesar salad, oxtail spring rolls, lomo, and jerk chicken. After waiting for what felt like forever, our waitress explained that our order had been given to the wrong table. While I appreciated her honesty, it was frustrating that it took so long for the mistake to be noticed and corrected. As for the food, I'd give it a 3.5/10. It had potential, but overall it just missed the mark for me. After such a long wait, I expected much better. We were only offered 15% off the bill, which didn't really feel like adequate compensation for a 90-minute wait caused by the restaurant's mistake. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, it wasn't a good one. I'd seen this restaurant all over social media and had high expectations, but my experience didn't live up to the hype.

The chef comes from the world of high-end NYC dining, and you can feel that experience in every detail of the food. There's a level of creativity, precision, and thoughtfulness here that honestly feels Michelin-worthy. This makes sense, because the restaurant has earned that recognition. Beyond the food, Archie's also has one of the best Scotch and whiskey (bourbon and rye included) selections anywhere in the area. It feels curated by people who genuinely care about food and drink, not just running another restaurant. We eat there often, especially for brunch, which is spectacular and consistently better than it has any right to be for a neighborhood spot on City Island. The best example of the attention to detail was the chopped cheese sandwich special. When it arrived, my first thought was: "How is anyone supposed to eat this giant thing?" But then you take a bite and realize the bread was custom made specifically for the sandwich. Somehow it completely melts in your mouth along with the meat and cheese, making this enormous sandwich unexpectedly delicate and perfectly balanced. It's the kind of detail most restaurants would never even think about. Archie's is a true hidden gem and proof that truly exceptional food can exist in places you wouldn't expect.
