This is definitely a hidden gem. We went here for their AYCE option. At the time, it was $19.99 for the regular and $25.99 for upgraded. They just recently updated their pricing to $24.99 for regular and $34.99 for upgraded. We really enjoyed the portion sizes and how much food they gave us for the AYCE. The selection is not bad for what you get. As long as you like the options, the AYCE is completely worth it. We definitely enjoyed the broken rice, vermicelli, rolled up beef, and egg rolls. Went for brother's birthday. This Vietnamese restaurant is located on Westminster and Newland...next to 7-11 so parking is limited during peak hours. This place is known for a variety of rice dishes but they do have dry/reguñar vermicelli along with appetizers and such. Soda is fountain I believe They have $11.99 specials that's portray on its TV so ask your server about it. There's also a deal: buy 5 specials and get 1 free. Got the com suong ni bi cha (rice with bone-in pork with shredded beef). All rice dishes are garnish with pickled veggies and served with soup. Very good. This little shop in a small strip mall where parking can be tight had very little people eating on a Sunday afternoon. There is a bit of a language barrier but it wasn't a problem. Service was good. Only thing to note is they will stand around at the end. You either ask for a bill or get up and pay at the cashier. I was going to get the all you can eat broken rice menu which is actually what I came for but realized I wasn't hungry enough and my teen was not going to eat anything but the beef. I ordered #28 Five- color rice (bean curd shrimp, chicken, pork, beef, pork skin, steamed egg on rice) I honestly don't know if I got that. The bean curd Shrimp was very good. I was told by a local garden grove native to always go for the under 4 star yelp locations for great food and this place definitely delivered. We didn't try to all you can eat at all, but we were definitely filled up by these two lunch portions. We arrived on Saturday around 12PM and it was a full house. Drinks: We also ordered two drinks pennywort: 3/5 salted plum juice w/ ice: 2/5 Food: banh hoi bo la lot w/ grilled chicken: 5/5 portion is very generous for $22. basically can feed two people. chicken is velveted perfectly and it's not too sweet. bean curd shrimp, pork skin, steamed egg, and grilled pork chop on rice special: 4/5 for $17.50, it doesn't scream a crazy deal compared to other places in the area, but it honestly hits the spot I think it's hard to get broken rice wrong in this area. I don't think it's the best price for quality/ quantity, but it definitely hits the spot. The drinks were kind of a let down though. I was initially hooked on this spot after a family member introduced me to it. For a while, I came alone and was consistently treated like a king. The food is phenomenal; huge portions of delicious, comforting, home-style cooking. My usual order is the massive rice plate: grilled beef ribs, chicken, fried shrimp cake, mixed veggies, and a side of soup. It's a huge plate, and I always loved it! Everything changed when I came in for a simple to-go order. I ordered at the counter, and the cashier (who spoke a little English, assisted by his manager) took my order. Out of habit, I sat at my favorite table to wait. That's when a staff member told me to move to the designated waiting area. I was surprised she didn't recognize me as a frequent diner she had personally served at that very table. Then, after she brought my order to the new table, she demanded to see my receipt. I showed her, and she proceeded to give me a dirty look before walking to the cashier to confirm I had actually paid and was the correct person. This level of suspicion and disrespect from someone who should know me is appalling customer service. The food earns 5 stars, but the service disaster brings my overall rating down to 2 stars. I stopped coming here immediately and am now looking for a new Cơm Tấm spot. read more

Stumbled upon this little hole in the wall restaurant with plenty of parking and friendly staff from social media. What caught my eye was their AYCE option, however it seemed a bit too expensive for the selection they were offering for AYCE broken rice option. Instead, my family and I opted for their a la carte broken rice, egg rolls, and spring rolls entrees. The broken rice was quite flavorful and good, but the steamed egg was a bit too dry and the grilled beef was too fatty to my liking. The real stars of the meal were certainly their egg rolls and spring rolls. Both were very abundant with filling and flavor. I've been here a couple of times already but I should write a review about them because they are really one of the cooler spots I've been to down here in SoCal! Location/Atmosphere: 4/5 The location for this restaurant is right off the street of Westminster Blvd in a small strip area filled with other Vietnamese restaurants. On the outside are a couple of chairs for waiting to eat along with signs of their food options plastered on the windows. On the inside is a standard Vietnamese restaurant with long black tables and a holder for soup spoons, forks, sauces, and napkins. Service/Price: 4/5 The service here is good! All of the times I've gone here, it hasn't been busy so I got seated rather quickly and had my order taken. They have a small piece of paper for their AYCE that you order from that gives you two rounds to eat. The first time I came here with friends, we almost overordered but since I've come back a few times, I've learned my lesson and kept to being more modest with the portions because as I will state later, they are BIG. They raised the prices from last time I went ($20 to $25 for their first option and $25 to $35 for their second option) so heed that if you expect the original prices but I think it's still a great deal. Food: 5/5 So, this place is known for their broken rice plates and I actually came here right before they started doing AYCE com tam. The rice plates were some of my favorite out of the OC area. The rice was really good and the meat had a great char to it, nice and smoky from the back where they cooked it. When they started doing AYCE, I took the chance to try out some of their other meats. The sausage is AMAZING as it is nice and crisp with a good bite, the beef is charred well and cooked with a good marinade, and the porkchop was nice and fatty with lots of flavor. I usually do the first round with a vermicelli and the second round with a broken rice because I need to get my veggies in but their vermicelli and veggies is AMAZING. They put a lot of basil and mint in the vermicelli bowl along with lettuce, pickled daikon and carrot, and bean sprouts. It help cut away a lot of the greasy meat and refresh the palate. Overall: 4/5 I've been coming to this place for nearly a year but I have no real issues with it. Nice staff, lots of parking and no wait on a Wednesday night. Food came out quickly but grilled perfectly. Scissors were a little dirty so I wouldn't recommend using them. AYCE was order as much as you wanted in two rounds but we ordered so much the first round that we didn't go for a second. Definitely don't underestimate the portion sizes as the bowl of noodles/vegetables was very large and the meat was filling. We went with the original $20 as the extra $5 options didn't seem worth it. My son recommended this place cause he loves broken rice. The didn't noticed it until I decided to give to a try. I walked in a greeted by the only male server he's very friendly. He asked if it's our first time and he showed us how to use the tablet to order. I like that so we don't feel rushed. Menu on tablet was simple you choose any items up to 4 and it comes with broken rice for as little as $15. That's a good deal not only that everything was so good. Thịt nướng was very thin juicy! Went here yesterday I will not lie when I saw the Ayce I was a little skeptical about the idea that it was only two rounds from the paper I went with a party of four and thought the pork chops would be the small American size at the grocery store but boy I was wrong. Not only did the food taste great I remember someone else writing that the chili alittle goes along way and they were not wrong if you are sensitive to spice but very little or non at all. The service was the only downfall of this experience it was very hard to get a server before ordering the food. And if you do go with a big party make sure to right the numbers in the box not check it off that was the mistake that I made. The food is amazing, all their meats taste fresh and this is one of the rare Vietnamese restaurants that actually goes around and refills your water without having to hunt down for a waiter or waitress. If you can eat a lot the AYCE option is worth it, not only are the protein options are the same as their regular menu but it seems like you have an unlimited timeframe to finish it. You only get two rounds of food but if you were to order everything on the menu, one round is more than enough, and you can pretty much sit there for hours which I saw a couple tables do. My only complaint was that it did take quite awhile for my food to come out, but in a way it was worth it. read more

One of the best spots for Com Tam in OC. The rice and meat are always on point, the pork chop is always freshly grilled when ordered. I especially love their "tau hu ky" which is shrimp paste wrapped in tofu sheet, always juicy and a bit chewy on the inside, but crispy on the outside. Their portion is also generous so I can always share with one of my little one. Service overall is good compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. The place is kinda outdated and can be improved. It can get busy during lunch and dinner hours but i don't think they take reservations. I saw all the instagram going around showing all you can eat broken rice for $19.99. I love broken rice so few of my friends and I decided we'll go for lunch, the place was a little busy but we got seated right away. We opted for the $25.99 ayce which included short ribs only 2 orders per person and fried egg rolls and betal beef rolls and fried shrimp curd. I think if you get the $19.99 that's fine that includes chicken, pork, pork chop and sliced beef and chicken curd. The beef ribs were good and so was the betel beef rolls those were my favorite things. Then the sliced beef and Vietnamese steamed egg. The egg rolls were ok a bit greasy as well as the fried shrimp curd, maybe I had to ask but I could have used lettuce and some radish and daikon to wrap the egg rolls in. Here was the problem I had and why only 3 stars, we literally waited 30 min for our food to come out as we watched all other people who got there latter get their plate of food before we got ours. I honestly don't recommend getting the ayce, everyone inside eating was Vietnamese and I guess no one really gets that unless your non Vietnamese, they mainly just ordered the broken rice plates which was $19 and the pates were huge and they came out fast. When you sit down unless you ask for the ayce they don't give you the menu. Another person sat right by us and we were talking it was his first time also and he was getting the same thing we got ayce and his food took forever also. The way they do it whatever you order they bring all your food at same time so it takes a while. If you decide to get the ayce best to order a large order at once, I don't know if you can order beyond 2 set of orders the menu paper only had 2 columns but it says ayce so I'm assuming they have to let you order more if needed. It wasn't necessary for use 2 sets of order was more then enough. For 3 the bill was about $93 before tip since we ordered the $25.99 ayce. I honestly feel it's better not to get the ayce and just get a plate of beef or shortrib plate. Which comes with egg, shrimp curd rice and your main meat about $19. I don't recommend the ayce. My family's favorite com tam place in the OC area! Really good portion sizes and tasty food. All the meat is marinated very well and everything is fried fresh, nice and crispy. Not too greasy. If you just come here for regular Vietnamese food then it should be fine, but if you come here for AYCE then this place doesn't deserve your service. I've been here twice and each experience still leave me questions regarding their business practice. I got an ad on Instagram from a bunch of food influencers telling people to come here and try all you can eat cơm tấm blah blah blah. Then I found out later they changed their AYCE hours only from 5-8 PM. I didn't understand why maybe because the lack of customers, but no, I get their and found out for myself. First time I came with a party of four, the server was nice trying to tell us to limit our orders so we don't waste food, but they couldn't fit us to a bigger table, we were struggling with so many plates on the table, I didn't enjoy it because I wasn't fully comfortable, so even though they limited us on Korean galbi and giant prawns, we were still full, of course watching those videos on Instagram they won't tell you that catch. Being unsatisfied, I came back again the following week, also to give them another chance to serve me better, again disappointed. The sign literally said "AYCE from 5-8 PM, last call at 8 PM", but do not assume anything, this place made up their own rules, they were so stingy they gave you one piece of paper to order your food, on that paper will said 1st round and 2nd round, and that was it, if you're still hungry after then don't expect their service, they will give you attitude when they bring your food on the 3rd round. They told me they expected people to finished in 2 rounds and no more, but nothing written or evidence of that rules. At this point I already lost my appetite, I will not come back to a place who gave false advertisement about all you can eat, or practice their business trying to dictate or control customers like this, you're doing everything to save cost and leave customers unhappy with your reputation. That is not all you can eat cơm tấm, you just basically paid $25 plus taxes for an entrée of cơm tấm, then add some toppings, not worth it, not limited Go eat unlimited galbi at any ayce K Bbq if you're into that.
