IMHOJ When I last dined at this location, the restaurant was under a different owner and name. I loved the previous restaurant's Banh Xeo and that is the reason why we came here. The new restaurant has a new and understated look to it. I liked it. Our server was very friendly and the menu inviting. My husband chose the #13, Vietnamese Rice Noodle w/Grilled Pork & Egg Rolls, $17.99, and I had the Banh Xeo, crispy & savory Vietnamese Crepe w/bean sprouts, shrimp & pork, $16.99. Food portions were big and satisfying. We even brought home leftovers. I appreciated the dedicated table near the cashier that holds the take-home containers, napkins, etc. At casual restaurants, if I need an extra fork or napkin, or take-out containers, I generally have no qualms about getting them myself, when the wait staff is busy. Food was very good. We'll definitely be back!

Their com tam portions are huge! Very solid spot for com tam and pho. I also loved their banh khot, and I assume the banh xeo would be great too. Very casual local Vietnamese spot. Lots of seating inside. Staff is friendly and lots of parking.

I had a chance to try their Pho. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet or House Special Noodle Soup (4/5). The broth was good, flavorful and came with steak, flank, beef meatballs and tendons. I ordered a Grilled BBQ Pork Chop (4/5) for takeout to bring to my mom, which she enjoyed. "Wow, this is good!" I knew she'd like it as I had it previously in my broken Rice dish the first visit.

I like their chicken I had to come back!! This time I tried it with egg noodle soup, you can get it dry but I wanted soup.

My family dined in on a Saturday for lunch around 12:30pm. There was no wait. Food came out quickly. They are still running the promotion where if you buy 5 dishes, you get 1 dish free or for each dish you order, you get a free drink. We ordered: banh khot, banh xeo, some com tam dishes and a few bowls of pho. The banh khot was interesting. I've never had them like this. They were bigger and flatter and drizzled with a coconut sauce. A bit oily but crispy. Banh khot was also crispy. The com tam was really good. It's comparable to a popular com tam place in the SJ area. I would come back here just to have the com tam and avoid the wait at the more popular restaurant. However the tai and the nam in my pho was just terrible. Both meats were so chewy that I could not swallow them. The broth however was great. Perhaps it was an off day on their meats. I'll just stick with the com tam next time. Note: for some reason the credit card charge will show it is from, Dalat Restaurant.

Stopped by Com Tam Long Xuyen for some takeout. With this joint taking over a previous business I would frequent from time to time, I was especially curious with how it compares. The restaurant has a few patrons dining an upon arrival. I immediately make my way over to the register and let them know I was in need of take out. My attempt for some bun tom thit nuong was denied. Com Tam Long Xuyen doesn't offer grilled shrimp in its vermicelli bowls. The only alternative was to go with the bun thit nuong cha goi [vietnamese vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and fried egg roll]. Food: The nuoc mam was okay, not great. Granted, I am extremely spoiled and biased towards my MIL's version so nowhere really compares. The grilled pork was plentiful but the noodles were noticeably skimpy. To my surprise, the best part of this dish was the egg rolls. These were golden crispy, flavored well, and not overly oily. Staff were really friendly and eager to upsell the new Nam Vang noodles they had recently added to the menu. While I may not be interested in this particular dish, I wouldn't be against trying out a few other dishes. 3.5 stars.

This restaurant is located near East Calveras Blvd in a quiet corner of a striped building. We found it nice and clean. The foods were tasty with large quantities. We had a beef tenderloin/flank pho and a BBQ rice plate at reasonable price. Staffs were as friendly as you can imagine. Will definitely return here next time if in the area.

My wife and I had great meals on a Sunday night. I don't understand how there can be so many negative reviews; either we caught the restaurant on a good night, or some of the other reviewers have different perspectives. I would definitely recommend Com Tam Long Xuyen for a casual Vietnamese meal. We tried a bowl of pho and a rice plate, and both were very good. We had a grilled BBQ pork chop broken rice dish, and everything was good - generous and tasty pork chops (see the photo), delicious broken rice, good portion of raw vegetables, a tasty bowl of broth, and to top it off, a free Thai tea. We also had the filet mignon, flank and tendon noodle soup. It was a huge bowl of noodles and meat. I really liked the filet mignon as it was marinated and cooked before it was added to the bowl (unlike the tasteless rare or raw steak in many pho bowls). The tendon was also tasty and generous, although some of the larger pieces could have been boiled longer. I wasn't a fan of the flank and will probably skip that next time. No sriracha or other dipping sauces needed! The pho also came with a free drink (and I chose hot greet tea). I can't speak to the food's authenticity, but I have had pho and rice plates at many Vietnamese restaurants, and the food we had was very good and generous. I will certainly be back if I'm in the area.

#18 Filet Mignon and Tendon Pho: 4/5

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Casual Vietnamese restaurant. It seems like this place is known for their rice plates. Everyone was ordering them when we were there. It was not busy but service was a little slow. #7 BBQ Pork Plate: 4/5 BBQ Pork was a little more on the sweet side than sweet and savory. I felt like the sauce could have used a little bit more flavor. Egg cake though.... AMAZING. LOVED IT! #18 Filet Mignon and Tendon Pho: 4/5 Their pho are one size. Very big. The broth was on the sweater side but bowl was packed with ingredients.

TL;DR: com tam in Milpitas that is (in my opinion) just as good as what you can find in San Jose. They even offer banh xeo! It's tough getting to San Jose if you're not already there, and parking is always a pain. When the craving for Com Tam hit, I found this spot on Yelp and headed on over. There's a ton of parking in a pretty sad looking strip mall, it's right by Ocean supermarket and there are a bunch of other businesses. This location is pretty big, taking up two shop spaces and has a lot of seating. I've never seen it full but I have seen a number of people getting takeout. I usually get the grilled pork chop plate with everything else on it, like the meat loaf, pig skin and the fried shrimp cake. Well executed, very flavorful and juicy pork chop that goes deliciously with the rice on its own or with the nuoc cham. The other sides are all good too - fresh shrimp, good pig skin and nice juicy meat loaf. The pork chop and meat loaf even reheat well when you bring leftovers home. I branched out on my recent visit and got the banh xeo as well. It was pretty good! Stuffed with bean sprouts, pork slices and shrimp, it went well wrapped up in lettuce and dipped in nuoc Cham. It wasn't very crispy if that's what you're looking for, and I thought the pork was a little porky smelling but otherwise was decent.

The first time we came here everything was great. We stopped in other day when they opened, sat down and proceeded to order as normal. Bun Xeo looked great but first bite was quickly met with hair. I don't normally post bad reviews but one thing I do not ignore is foreign items in my food. Especially hair. I also used the restroom on the way out and the toilet seat was swamped with urine. A closer scan showed urine all over the toilet, still dripping.. Being that they just opened means it was either an employee or someone there in the back because nobody else seemed to have walked towards the restroom. Was very promising but that's probably the push I needed not to come back and overlook certain things. Hair and staff cleanliness I do not over look in dining establishments. Use your best judgement.

They have a new menu with lots of new dishes to try! The food is delicious, they also have family-style meals, the portions are huge, and the prices are very reasonable.

Came in for lunch, parking was easy in the plaza lot. Each entree came with a free drink - I picked the coconut drink which was refreshing. We got two roasted chicken dishes one with rice and one with egg noodles. The roasted chicken was delicious, crispy and perfectly cooked. The noodles and rice were both cooked perfect. Prices were fair. Place was clean, bathroom did have an overpowering cleaner smell. Service was decent.

Yes, it's definitely worth going to if you've never had Vietnamese beef 7 ways or baked catfish…read more There's not many of these types of restaurants around. General for celebratory reasons and it originated from the south as well. You can find many other Vietnamese cuisine out there, but unless you have a bigger Vietnamese population, this is a much more rare find. So when our friend from NY was visiting for Fanime, we had to get this. Though, I will say this to start with, nothing can ever beat my dear Thien An Bo 7 Mon from SoCal. I'm biased and I'm not afraid to say it, but I know that NorCal is lacking in many ways and with that in mind, it makes sense that the prices are higher (rent and costs of operation are much higher in NorCal, I'm sure) and the other differences as well. Regardless, the service was attentive and welcoming and they even chased my bf outside to his car when he foolishly left his card in the restaurant. There is a policy that the 7 course beef is 1 order per person and minimum 2 orders. I have not seen that in SoCal and they let us grossly share 1 order between 3 people, but things might have changed. With that in mind, 2 orders split between 3 people was more than enough. For drinks, my boyfriend got some local brewed IPA and when I sent my dad the picture (he's a Viet refugee), he immediately got triggered by the year that was on the can before I explained to him the origins that were on the label. I got a soda chanh muoi (salted lemon sparkling water and you pour the sparkling soda water from a cold can yourself into the mix in a glass). Refreshing and a sharp salty sour bite in between courses. The 7 course beef came as it would any other restaurant that does it: 1) Goi Bo (House Special Beef Salad) 2) Bo Nhung Dam (Beef in Wine Vinegar Fondue) -Not sure why it's translated this way but it's raw beef slices that have been seasoned in vinegar with some onions on top and you cook it in a hot pot broth. 3) Bo Cha Dum (Steamed Beef Patty) 4) Bo Cuon No Chai (Grilled Beef Sausages) 5) Bo Cuon La Lot (Beef wrapped in Lot leaf) -Easily the favorite of the table. You can never go wrong with leaf wrapped meats as you can see that it is a worldwide dish and phenomenon regardless of the protein and the vegetation used. -Savory and a bit smoky with a kick from the leaves. Good stuff. 6) Bo Nuong Xa (Beef roll with onion and lemon grass) 7) Chao Bo (Beef porridge) - the version I had in SoCal had cute beef alphabet and star pasta soup and I'm not the biggest fan of porridge so this was just okay to me. All the beef was seasoned well and moist, not too dry or tough. Definitely more than enough to share especially with the generous amount of rice paper and veggies to roll in. Again, just my qualm because I'll always compare every Viet 7 beef course with my OG in SoCal, but they had a vertical rice paper water rolling dish that made it easier to wet the rice paper without it getting soggy and without the water getting gross or the bowl taking up too much space. We additionally got vermicelli noodles to stuff our rolls too, which would have been nice to add a little bit of carbs into our meal, but if you're more into protein and veggies, this was good. Overall not bad and a must to try at least once.

The dressing tasted well made, it was sweet and savory but the seafood hadn't absorbed the dressing. There were mussels, clams, squid and calamari in it and the balance of flavors was out of proportion. Laksa shrimp fried rice- Good wok hey, chewy mushroom bits and little pineapple bits but shrimp was very hard to find. The addition of egg was nice. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce- Nicely fried very tiny pieces of chicken with 1 tsp of tangy sauce. Good dish. Nothing extraordinary. I would come back for the chicken noodle soup on a cold night!
