    Grilled Cheese French Fries
    Ethan E.

Always a good spot for our post-show tech crew outings in high school. It is a pretty decent location for some hang time with friends but I wouldn't say I was too impressed with the food. The place is clean enough , though the interior has been the same for a s long as I can remember. The menu is also very big, with a wide variety of choices for all 3 meals of the day. The salad I had was okay. It was supposed to be a Caesar salad, but it came with way more toppings that one normally would. The dressing was nice, though the vegetable were wet so it didn't stay on well. I also tried the mozzarella sticks as I always do. They really weren't much to go home about, and I didn't enjoy the marinara a whole lot. I would also like to add that the plate presentation was slightly lack luster and not super neat, though I know this isn't exactly "fine dining" . The grilled cheese sandwich was my main, and it was honestly just ok. Not close to the worst I've had but I feel the flavors could have been brought out a bit more. It may have been slightly overdone, but I'm not sure that was the issue. The fries that came with were good, but that's all I can say really. The presentation for the sandwich was better, but I do appreciate the pickle inclusion. I think I will always have a soft spot for Continental seeing I have many fond memories of theatre hangs, and even a Bar-Mitzvah once in their banquet space. I do hope this place is able to last, but also able to be upgraded on the inside. It's nice to have these kinds of places in the area, so I wish only the best.

I have been meaning to stop by The Continental Restaurant for a good while and have never been able to make it. Boy was I wrong in not visiting sooner. I went with my wife and mother and we all thought the food was great. We started with some bread which was very good and then we had some soup. My Matzah Ball soup had the biggest matzah ball that I think I have ever had. My wife's Sweet & Sour Cabbage had such a flavorful broth and was chock full of cabbage goodness. My mother really liked her lentil soup too. I think we were all pretty full from the bread and soup and then they served our actual entrees. We tried out the West Coast Burger, the Continental Club, and the Chicken Salad Sandwich. All were very good, but we had to take most of it home due to filling up on bread and soup. Our waiter took good care of us and I look forward to returning.

Patty melt and fries. Very tasty.

My first visit in 31 years. This is a hidden gem. The soups and meals are awesome. I definitely Wilke back much sooner. Great service, bathrooms were very clean.

This restaurant is a classic of the Buffalo Grove area, Been here for ages. I've been visiting this place since the early 2000s The restaurant quality is good though they do run out of soup by evening rush, take note of this if you want soup best come earlier in the day. Green phosphate soda isn't available but they made a cool black cow and I had a good drink experience I hadn't done before so I'm perfectly happy. The hygiene audit is where things get messy. The women's bathroom is within acceptable limits but on the lower end of acceptable cleanliness. The men's room is outside of normal acceptable limits with damaged fixtures and aged units. Worth noting the women's room handicap stall someone was rude enough to leave a brown bomb in the toilet.. Come for the food, stay for the WiFi, don't use the toilets here. Seriously you'll regret it.

Eggsperience is a big open and airy room in an antique white and light blue coloration making you feel at ease and welcome like a nice Spring day. We were seated at a table for four, but an additional person joined us and we figured we'd make room for five at our table. The staff insisted we move to a five-person round table despite them being busy. It was a nice sized table and gave plenty of room for five to six people, Our server was a lovely girl who was always coming by. The menu is huge and since we were all talking and having a good conversation, I never really was able to focus, so I ordered a traditional two eggs any style with meat and toast or pancakes. I got my eggs scrambled and dry, with bacon crispy and added diced potatoes (the ones that are just potatoes and nor peppers and diced onions), a toasted English muffin, and asked for a Diet Coke. She asked if I wanted Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Zero. PEPSI ZERO?!!! No one ever has Pepsi Zero. I said absolutely yes to the Pepsi Zero. So she brought me two mason jar mugs because she wasn't sure which was the Diet and which was the Zero. Apparently a staff member attached the two drinks to the wrong fountain heads and she wanted to know which I wanted. I was able to pick the Zero out fairly easily. How cool, Pepsi Zero. Anyway, we all got our food nd mine was made perfectly the way I ordered it. The eggs were made dry (not cooking with butter or oil), the potatoes were just roasted potatoes, the bacon was crispy, the English muffin was toasted (so my whipped butter filled in all the nooks and crannies - as they should do as advertised on TV), and the drink was Pepsi Zero! And our server was quick to replenish drinks. Plus, the cost does not break the bank. Many breakfast places tend to overprice their breakfast items. I wish I came here sooner. I't's easily one of my favorite breakfast places (easily in the Top 3). It was not just a pleasant experience. It was an Eggsperience (sorry, had to do the cheap pun!) :)

One tip: the parking is a bit tricky to find. You will need to turn into the lot and take a hard left around the building, so don't worry if you miss it on the first try! We ordered several different entrées, including some of their breakfast specialties. The food was decent, though it didn't quite stand out for us compared to other breakfast spots in the area. That said, the servers and staff were all very courteous and attentive, which made for a pleasant visit overall. If you're in the area, it's worth a try to see if it suits your taste. It just wasn't a personal favorite of mine. It seems there are fan favorite that come back over and over again.

My husband and I dined here. We ordered a burger and waffles with eggs and side of bacon. The burger was uncooked, nearly raw. The bacon wasn't cooked completely so fatty and greasy. I tried to catch our server's attention, but she wasn't anywhere to be seen until it was time for the check. We've tried to give this place several chances as I like to shop at Fresh Farms, but each time the meal has disappointed. Then to find out the owner is recording for his channel sealed the deal to never come back. There's too many delicious restaurants around the area to put up with mediocre food, high prices, rude ownership, and poor service. We have friends who frequent The Original Granny's and they say it's a hidden gem. They're right! Walking in around 12:30, we were warmly greeted by the friendly owner and quickly seated. The inside had comfortable booths and tables. It was bright and warm. We can tell that the owner really cares about their restaurant and hospitality. There were a lot of regulars eating there, we can tell by the friendly conversations with the staff and customers. Our server was so friendly (her name escapes me, but I think it starts with a T). She patiently gave me time to look over the menu (there's some really good choices). Hubs decided what he wanted pretty quick. He ordered a rise and shine burger which was one of the daily specials, medium rare. I opted for 1/2 soup and 1/2 corned beef sandwich. We both got the clam chowder (soup of the day). The clam chowder arrived nice hot. His was pretty full of clams while mine wasn't but I'm sure it's just the way the soup gets scooped. It was still good! His burger arrived a perfectly prepared medium rare. The fries are so crispy and delicious! I hate sending food back, but my corned beef was very lean, somewhat dry, and hard to chew. The corned beef was cooked on the griddle which made it dry out. BUT, it was quickly remedied and replaced with my backup choice of a BLT. The BLT was very good! Thick sliced tomato, crispy lettuce, and crispy bacon with just the right amount of toast to the bread! It really was one of the better BLTs I've had (yes, it can be possible to have other places mess it up). Our server was so sweet and apologetic about the corned beef sandwich. We left lunch full and happy! I honestly don't know if they changed me extra for paying by debit. I didn't notice a sign or ask, it wasn't mentioned, and our check was only $37 so if 3% keeps a small family business going and servers employed, I'm not whining. The owner at the register asked how our meal was and thanked us for trying his restaurant (meaning he pays attention to new customers and regulars!). The food was tasty, portions were good, and the service was friendly! We will be back to try the breakfast menu!

I was plenty full after my meal, and it was the first time I had eaten all day. I have been going to Deerfields Bakery for decades; I just realized that it is not "Deerfield" or…read more"Deerfield's", but "Deerfields". Before we fell in love with the mousse cakes of another bakery that's just minutes from home, we used to order most of our birthday cakes from Deerfields, and picked up at the location in Deerfield. In addition to cakes, they specialize in a full line of baked goods, including pastries, cookies, cupcakes, pies, danishes, donuts, muffins, bagels, and more. Recently, I needed to order a small 4" cake for the first time ever, since all of us didn't want a large cake, even a 6" cake would be too much, because I am usually the one to finish all the cake leftovers. Also, there were only about 3 days for the bakery to make the cake, our other bakery needs 7 days, and probably would not make a 4" cake. I knew that Deerfields could do it in 48 hours. I was pleased that I could order on their website, although their choices for 4" cakes were very limited. I picked a velvet cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting ($30.95). However, it has 4 layers and serves 6-8, we would still have leftovers. This time, I chose to pick up at the Deerfields in Buffalo Grove, where I had visited a couple of times, and I like this location much better than the one in Deerfield. It is like a storybook bakery to me! The bakery is picture perfect inside and out, visually appealing with lots of vibrant colors and beautiful displays. When I visited, the spacious bakery was festively decorated, which was quite charming. There's also a café inside, with some tables on the first floor, and the entire cozy second floor dedicated to café dining. The café serves breakfast and lunch Wednesday through Sunday. Like many other bakeries, Deerfields is closed on Mondays. On this weekday when I came around noon, the bakery was bustling. I would give this experience 5 stars for both the cake we ordered and the excellent service we received, especially from Greg, who greeted me as soon as I walked in. The customer service team had emailed me suggestions for decorating the small cake, and I replied with my specific requirements. However, it seemed that my reply had not been read. I needed the center of the top filled with more roses so the design would not look like a wreath. In the future, I will follow up with a phone call to confirm the details. One staff member from the bake room (Brianca?) came out and explained that it could be done, but I would need to wait an hour because all the bakers had just gone on break. I agreed and said I would return to pick it up. Just as I was about to leave, Greg came out from the bake room with the good news that a baker was available to do it right away. In the end, I only spent about 10 to 15 minutes waiting, which I used to take photos around the shop. The cake turned out beautiful and delicious, moist and velvety. I myself didn't care that much for the thick buttercream frosting, but the cream cheese filling was quite good. Since we had the cake after a big dinner, we all opted for small pieces. However, all of us didn't mind eating leftover cakes the next day. When we crave for a more traditional cake in the future, we will definitely return to Deerfields again!
