I placed an order to cheer up a friend who just found out her BF (of 9 years) was cheating on her. The cookies were never delivered and they are refusing to provide a full refund. When I inquired about the delivery, they said their delivery man left it with the leasing office. When I asked for them to provide the name of the person in the leasing office he left it with, the story changed that the cookies were left at the doorstep. When I asked for an approximate time in which the cookies were left (because there is a security camera), they story changed for a second time and said that someone in the building let the delivery many in and they left the cookies in front of my friend's apt door. When I asked them why they would just leave the cookies without calling me first to confirm that it was ok to leave the cookies there, they said they called "numerous times and even left a voicemail." I never received a phone call or a voicemail. I was hoping to resolve this by requesting a refund for my order, but they are claiming that I cannot get a full refund because their delivery man has already been paid. Not sure why it is the fault of the customer if their delivery man is dishonest. Bottom line is--this company is disorganized and dishonest. I will leave this review up on yelp until I receive proof (via a phone bill) that shows that the delivery man actually did call my phone and leave a voicemessage. read more

Renee is so pleasant and easy to work with! She bent over backwards to accommodate our needs and do the impossible, inside timelines that were continually adjusting. To make the impossible, possible, she invited us to come pick up our order at about 8pm on December 19th...she was working about 18 hours a day during the holidays, and made it a point to not leave until the last order was complete. Not only was Renee smiling and friendly, although obviously sleep deprived, she was not at all upset that we unintentionally added to the stress of her schedule. That's class act customer service, right there! Renee and her team baked the most amazing cookies you could ever imagine. We ordered dozens of every flavor she offers. Every one was amazing...but my heart will always belong first to her white chocolate macadamia nut, little bit of heaven, cookie. In addition to Renee being accommodating on her schedule, she also accommodated us in our vision. I had a certain package I wanted to put together, and Renee adjusted our order to accommodate that, as well. I ordered a custom cookie bouquet for Valentine's Day with a Star Wars theme and they did a fantastic job on the cookies! I searched far and wide for bakeries that sold any type of Star Wars related themed cookies and with the exception of Etsy and some out of state places, I thought it was nearly impossible until I came across this place on Google. It didn't sound like they had ever done this design before but the finished product when it was delivered looked amazing! The employees were so nice and helpful throughout the whole process. I even mailed them a card to attach with the cookie bouquet and they took care of everything. I would highly recommended them for your custom cookie needs. read more

I ordered some of these cookies for Valentines to be sent to my boyfriend's work place since I thought flowers would be too cheesy as well as what is a man going to do with flowers...haha It was somewhat a last minute thought honestly - since I forgot there were such a thing as cookie bouquets - however I still got my order in - though the unfortunate thing was they weren't able to deliver it since his work was way too far and I was kind of late with ordering them. I decided to order them online anyways and went to pick it up myself. I like the options that they have on their site - however I must say it's the most expensive cookies I have ever bought. I got something called the Boutray - I got four medium sized sugar cookies and each had a design - one was "toadolly yours", on another cookie was a picture of a toad and two heart cookies with one that said Happy Valentines Day and a dozen of their mixed gourmet cookies with nuts. It wasn't really what I expected when I went to pick them up - it didn't look like it was worth my $60...in addition I had to buy 6 more cookies there to fill the platter to make it look better (I checked in with Yelp and they gave me two extra after buying 6)..I think I should have gone with the basket cause the platter was bigger than I expected and didn't look as nice since there were empty space on the platter. So in total I paid about 70 dollars plus I had to drive there and drive about 45 minutes to deliver it myself - without my boyfriend finding out..so hopefully he doesn't read this review. hah I don't blame them for that though - cause that's just my fault for being late on ordering...if I had ordered it a day earlier the lady at the shop said they could have delivered it. Anyways I did have a cookie - a white chocolate macademia cookie to be exact..and it was good but still pretty darn expensive and well I don't think I would do it again because it was just a little too expensive for cookies. Though I must say the sugar cookies were cutely designed. The service was actually nice too - the lady that helped me with the pick up was friendly and said they use to have ones in LA but they all closed down - which I can kind of guess why. I love this place. Every time I order something as a gift, I'm always satisfied with the customer service and product quality. I have even ordered cookies for myself just to snack on because they are so yummy - which the staff was happy to oblige. I just called today to order a b-day cookie basket for a friend, and they were so great on my last minute order. I recommend these guys for the cute cookie baskets and wonderful customer service. All my friends have loved receiving them just as much as I love giving them. Really disappointing experience. Placed an order for a baby girl bouquet. It was not delivered when it was supposed to be. I sent an email asking for a return phone call to find out what happened -- no one called me back. I reached a person and she said it would go out right away. It took one week from when I placed order for it to arrive. I paid an extra $8.99 for a white wooden container. When the recipient emailed me a photo of the bouquet, two cookies were off the sticks and the container was an ugly plain brown. When I wrote back to tell them I paid extra for the wooden boardwalk container, she said, "Our assembler made the call to use the natural wooden container. We thought it looked great. Sorry you didn't like our choice." Really?? So it does't matter what I like -- what I specifically requested -- or paid extra to have??? She did refund my $25 shipping fee, which I appreciate, but overall it was a bad experience. Would not use again. They are disorganized and make excuses. Super unprofessional. read more

I placed an order on Friday and called me Saturday to ensure me it was there mistake and that they were refunding me and that they were still going to ship my order free of charge. Ohhhh! How I LOVE this place so much! The cookies can run a little expensive (Personally, I grab a pack of "second day" plain cookies for cheaper if I plan to pig out by myself), but these precious little jewels are so well worth the price via its beautiful and plentiful designs. Customized into bouquets, or extra big "cookie pies", you can have these cookies plain, or have them decorated. Renee is mostly a hands on owner, and she really takes the time to talk to her customers and hear what they have to say regarding her cookies. A must try! =] read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SHOP!!! It is the one on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. I placed an order to be delivered Dec. 23rd, and I really needed it by the 23rd. I called the shop twice before the 23rd to make sure it would be able to arrive on time, and they never called me back. The cookie arrangement finally arrived the 24th at 5 PM at night....way late! Two cookies had fallen off the stems and were on the bottom of the "bouquet," and one cookie was even broken in half! It was a horrible packing job. Looks like they had just thrown it together. I called the store two more times and left two more messages after that, and they didn't call back until days later. And when they called back, they treated me like a number and absolutely didn't care. I asked for a refund since I had paid $70(!) for this bouquet and couldn't use it since it arrived late and broken, and they refused. They made the excuse that there's a disclaimer on their website that bouquets are arriving late these days. I told them that's why I called the store twice before the 23rd to make sure I could get it in time, or else I would've canceled my order. They said the only thing they would refund was the price of the broken cookie, which was only $9. She was very aloof and literally didn't care. So, I urge you to save yourself from the hassle of having to deal with the employees of this store, while receiving a late, broken package, and order from another store!!! My update and response after that ignorant response from the store: No, I did not call your headquarters in Texas the first 3 times I called. I called your Long Beach store directly. When your employee Brenda finally called me back, she even acknowledged the 3 messages I left previously and the fact that no one had called me back yet. And yes, there is a disclaimer on the website that says the package may arrive late....THAT'S WHY I CALLED YOUR STORE 3 TIMES to see if my package would be one of the late ones, in which case I would've cancelled the order. I left this information on your answering machine at your LONG BEACH location, so I'm guessing your employees probably didn't call me back on purpose so I wouldn't have the chance to cancel the order and I'd be out the money. This is a business scam. No you should not be happy that your store refunded me only $9 of the $70 I spent on that broken bouquet. I don't write many reviews, only when I feel the need to. Order something for Valentine's Day and paid for the expedited delivery. Called in med afternoon around 12pm and was told that it was in transit. I found out later my wife never received the package and they did not let me know. On the bottom of the receipt it states I will be contacted if the delivery cannot be made. If they had told me earlier I would have gotten something else last minute. No contact the following morning either. If they had packages that were not delivered I would think that they would call to let me know. My personal opinion is they were overbooked and that my package was never on its way. I'm pretty the cookies are good but I would recommend not using them for their delivery services. They have no way of tracking the orders. read more

I went to this place a lot when I was growing up in the midwest. I was feeling nostalgic and made a special trip out to get some of my favorite cookies. When I entered they seemed to be closing even though I got there before 1:00 pm (closing at 2:00). The cookie selection seemed a bit scarce, but I bought two decorated sugar cookies with no problem. When I got home, the cookies tasted absolutely STALE. There was some chemical taste to the frosting and the cookie itself was almost powdery. I debated going back for a refund, but the salesperson had not given me a receipt and the store was already closed. With their hours I would have to wait a week to go back. I ended up just throwing the cookies ($10) away. Very disappointed. read more

Appreciate the help I received from this location. I had an issue because I ordered my husband's birthday cookie cake online in the late afternoon for next day delivery. While Google said they were open until 6, turns out they close at 4 (per their website) and I needed additional help. I sent an email and I received a call first thing next morning. They helped me finish my order, honored the next day delivery rate rather than same day, and while the website says they have until 5 pm to deliver, they made sure it arrived well before my husband left work at 4 pm. Cookies by Design has just lost my business. I ordered a bunch of cookies to be delivered on a Saturday for a friend's birthday. There was a delivery fee included with my online purchase, which I was fine with. I went ahead an placed my order. I got a call today (Thursday) telling me there would be an ADDITIONAL $10.00 delivery fee because it was a Saturday delivery. When I called to find out more information I was told there was the additional fee because on Saturdays business was slow. What?! Are you kidding me? There was nothing on their website to say anything about additional fees for Saturday deliveries. At this point, the delivery fees were costing 1/2 of what the cookies cost. Had the worst experience with Cookies by Design. I ordered cookies for my wedding and what a mistake that was. So incredibly unprofessional and incompetent. I had the pleasure of dealing with Christina. :/. I can't believe I decided to give them a chance even after reading a couple of bad reviews they have. Initially I thought what could go wrong I'll just give them a call, plan early and keep in contact to make sure things turn out well. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Well...WRONG!!!! At first, I had the pleasure of dealing with Renee (the owner?) and then I guess my order was passed along to Christina. Originally, I asked my order to be ready for pick up July 1st but then I changed it to July 5th at 9 am. Christina said that was perfectly fine and that she would update my order. So nice right??? Well, now I wished she would have just said no instead of mishandling the whole situation. Apparently she didn't update my order like she said she would. Instead, she makes the order the wrong day and called me to pick it up. I reminded her that I changed the pick up date and she had to go through her email and be reminded. I wasn't mad...She's only human and humans make mistake but what i wanted to make sure was that my cookies would not be the old cookies that were made the wrong day. I asked Christina and made sure that these cookies that were made by mistake would not be the same ones given to me on July 5th and that I would still be given new cookies that were ready for pick up at 9 am. She said yes. Okay, now I was relieved. I then asked her if I could come see the cookies since I was so excited about them because it was a picture of my drawing on the cookies. Her answer surprised me and kind of ticked me off but I decided to ignore her since all was good in my world and I was getting married soon. Her response was "Why do you want to come in if you're not picking up the cookies?" She completely caught me off guard. I mean, I already told her why...Because I was excited about them. So I went in thinking I would talk to them about what was said to me but then I decided that I would look at the cookies first. I saw the cookies and thought they were cute!!! yeah the frosting was a tad messy (the frosting that was under the printed picture for the cookie) but it was cute and i was happy! I told the worker that the cookies were cute and thanked her. I decided that I would ignore Christina's rude comment to me and just be happy with the cookies. By the way when I finally addressed her about her rude comment she responded by saying that she doesn't see anything rude with what she said to me. Someone messed up and was in denial apparently! Then I got home and I thought to myself since they're redoing my cookies then I'll send them a more sharpened picture of what i want. I called Christina and she said that that would cost me extra. I asked her why because they were going to redo my cookies anyway so I thought. Then she told me they would only be able to have it finished, as promised and assured, if they gave me the old batch that was made by mistake on the wrong day!!!!! SAY WHAT!?!!?!?! Did she forget the fact that she was the one that messed up and now just got caught for lying? apparently they were going to give me the old batch of cookies and mislead me to think that they were a new batch! I asked for an explanation and she said that if they made me a new batch of cookies that it would not be done until 12 pm. Un-freaken-believable!!!! So apparently she lied to me before about how she was going to make a new batch for me and apparently was just gonna give me the old batch she messed up on. WOWZA! To add insult to injury, Christina misled her boss to believe that I was not happy about the image. What BS is that? I was happy with the image but only sent the new image because I was misled to think that Christina was going to make me a new batch of cookies but apparently her initial plan was just to give me the old batch of cookies that she made on the wrong day. YUP! I asked for a refund and I asked to speak to her boss because Christina didn't seem to understand that I was upset at her rudeness, lies and unprofessionalism and not the image of the photo which I right off the bat told them looked great! Renee, the owner, gave me a refund and offered to make the cookies herself for me (which was very kind of her) but why would I want to work with them again? Besides it wasn't Renee who did anything wrong it was her employee. I still can't believe that Christina thinks that asking me why I would come if I wasn't going to pick up the cookies, is not rude. Unbelievable! Trust the reviews...do not come here.... Events (especially weddings) are too important to entrust to a place like this. read more
