What a GREAT place! Beer was fantastic and menu items were awesome as well! What you would expect for a brewery! Few menu items to go along with your beer but they have root beer and water for those designated drivers or ones who do not drink beer. While we took our children on a Sunday afternoon, we will definitely make his place our go to Friday or Saturday RARE "date nights" out. The owner, Steve, came to our table and welcomed us. Rochelle, came in later and said hello as well. Food we ordered was delivered to table without issue and we were checked on several times though out our visit. I was planning to make this a stop on a weekend hike, and I was planning to drink a few beers and eat. I got as far as a stale tasting pilsner, ignored for a second round since I am not friends or family of the too "Cool" staff. The space is way too big for a late lunch crowd and the few customers were huddled at the bar, so no excuse for busy. A brewer was busy among the kettles - no mistake this is a real microbrewery, but he needs to have a discussion with the bar staff about attention and attitude. This brewery has a great location and a built in audience on that stretch of 49, so WAKE UP. It could be really good. I am a fan of local beers and the warehouse vibe. I don't want themed decor or fine dining service at a brewery, but I didn't get the chance to try the English Strong Ale or Milkbone Stout, and never will. Next time I am crossing the Divide, it's straight to Coloma Club. read more

Amazing sushi, had our doubts about sushi in Cool and sushi in a place named Beerweks but it really was great. I had the poke bowl with tofu and spicy sauce,amazing. My husband had the chefs choice sashimi and said it was great. Kids had California rolls, my 16 yo daughter is a sushi snob and loved hers. They even made a special tofu California for my son. Came here only once; NEVER AGAIN! It was their first New Year's Eve bash (December 2013). I prefer wine over beer, and their drink menu offered several by the glass. I ordered a Chardonnay, paid for the drink with a hefty tip to the server, sipped my drink, enjoying the live band. Ordered a second glass of Chardonnay, paid for the drink with another hefty tip for the server. Took a sip and quickly realized it was not a Chardonnay. Told the server. She indignantly insisted it was a Chardonnay. I begged to differ and asked her if she poured my drink. She told me the bartender did. I walked over to the bar and explained my issue to the bartender. Bartender said, "oh yeah, I didn't want to open another bottle of Chardonnay, but we had an open bottle of a Chardonnay blend so that is what I poured". As I am speaking with the bartender, the female owner of the establishment comes over and she looks mad (apparently, my server was a tattle tale who ran to the owner and told her god-knows-what as soon as she saw me heading for the bartender). Owner proceeds to scold me, insisting I was poured a Chardonnay, not realizing the bartender had just admitted it was not a Chardonnay. Bartender tells owner it was not a Chardonnay because bartender did not want to open a new bottle of Chardonnay. Does owner apologize to me?!?!?! NO! But she does begrudgingly open a new bottle of Chardonnay and pours me a glass. I explain I already paid for the non-Chardonnay drink and asked if I owed a difference between the price of the two drinks. She says no. I go back to my table and sip my Chardonnay. Tattle tale server runs to owner and they huddle and gesticulate wildly in my direction. After a few minutes, server walks over to me and says, "you haven't paid for that drink; that'll be $8" or whatever it was. I couldn't stand it anymore...without reminding her that I did already pay and tip for the wrong drink she brought me which I did not drink, and that the drink in front of me now was a corrected drink, I just handed her the money and vowed I would NEVER, EVER patronize that establishment ever again! I also made a vow that I would tell all my family, friends and neighbors here in Cool, about how they tried to pass off a wrong drink to me because they did not want to open another bottle of the drink I ordered, and how rude the owner and server were over the whole thing. We were here on a weekend afternoon and the place was empty except one old drunk at the bar. I don't recall any music playing but I remember the ambiance being incredibly awkward. I can't speak to the food but the beer was pretty decent. The staff was very friendly. I would give them another visit when I'm up that way but I wouldn't make a special trip. This place was pretty good, for a brewery way off the beaten path. It was fun to find a brewery in the middle of nowhere. They had a nice selection of house-made beers. The staff was friendly and the food was reasonably priced. I gave only three stars because the food and the beer just didn't wow me. It was decent but not fabulous. My advice: if you are in the area, go ahead and stop by. If you are planning a long road trip with this brewery as your only destination, maybe skip it. read more

Amazing atmosphere! They aren't meant to be a sit down restaurant so the food takes kind of a while to get out. It's still fairly new at the time of this writing so once everything gets dialed in, I'm sure things will be even better. As far as quality goes, the beer is awesome, and the food is great. One of the owners Rochelle, was very nice and was pleasant to be around. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a local brewery. This place is so cool...there, I said it! Great beer selection and good food. They have some unique items on the menu, not just your regular bar food. CB has a great venue for live music...GOOD live music that is! The owners are warm and attentive to their customers, and they are open to change when change is good for the business. That's a rare find in a privately owned business! For us, this is about a 40 minute drive, so one of us is always the DD...but well worth it. Cool atmosphere and a great menu of brew and food. The reviews must be from people who have little experience in middle to top range brewery restaurants. This place has decent beer. The atmosphere completely sucks and is totally stale. The sushi is average (I got ill after eating here). The fish tastes farmed. Yuck! There is some short brown hair white guy who works there who bleeds from arrogance and acts like a douchebag. Seems he and the good looking tall thin brunette that works there don't really care for each other. He's a dork! Service is below average and the music venue has been cut. We love our new pub!! Steve and Rochelle have done a bang up job of offering a nice palette of their own craft brews while including beers from other top-notch breweries as well and local wines. They also offer an interesting variety of yummy edibles (I would call it pub food) like Melt-in-your-Mouth Meatballs, deep-fried Mac-n-Cheese Bites, wings, sliders, etc. But they are not a restaurant, so keep that in mind. The owners and staff are gracious and attentive and the decor is really nice. My only complaint is the bar stools are a bit uncomfortable, but that helps to not stay so long ;-) read more

love the updated menu - many great items to choose from - thank you. kitchen was a wee slow but it was pretty busy. our bartender Lori was very apologetic and most people probably cant look around a room and figure it out but being in the biz I wasn't perturbed. When the food arrived it was worth the wait. We passed on beer but I loved my cream soda in the bottle and hubby opted for a mimosa (I know committing beer sins!) but I worked many years at a micro brewery in Sac and can appreciate what they have to offer here. Great location for those enjoying our area for hiking and biking. I had the cheeseburger (no pickles - sad face!) and husband had the French dip. The atmosphere is dope!! It's so clean and simple. The owners are about as nice as they come! Wide choice of yummy beers. The only thing is, I'm not a sushi person. I originally came for the beer then got the munchies. I wish they had a few typical "bar food" appetizers.....maybe some garlic fries or potatoes skins. I got the edamame.....which I have never tried and now I'm obsessed. Plus it was a way healthier choice. I can't wait to go back. Definitely a must to stop by if passing through. It is with a sad heart, that I report this place has seriously gone downhill fast. We have been driving from Sacramento to this place for years, and today was our last trip. You can tell they are trying to reinvent themselves with the new paint and rock music knock knacks on the walls, however they should of invested their money into staff. We arrived at about 2pm, and there were about 15 total people in the place. Pretty quiet. After waiting 10 min, the only waitress acknowledged us, and said she would be bacK. She then went behind bar and poured drinks for another table, while the bartender did nothing. She then passed us again, and I asked to sit outside. However, every table outside was filthy. And I mean filthy! We then went back inside and sat at the only clean table out of the 5 available, to be ignored yet again . The old lady sitting on the ground near the bathroom, made eye contact, but that was about it. I hate walking out of places, and especially after drivng from Sacramento, but we will never be back, and I do not recommend this place at all.Shame on Cool Beerworks. Unsure what happened, but this place is now dirty, disgusting, and down right horrble. read more

On a whim, we stopped by for lunch today and were glad we did! First, we are vegan. We were prepared to settle for a salad, as many times we do when we eat out. But happily we were able to order a tasty garden sandwich (hold the cheese), and an order of street tacos. Instead of putting meat in the tacos, the chef was very gracious and made them with a delicious variety of veggies. They were very tasty and filling! I tried a flight of 4 beers. I am not a big fan of hoppy beers so the bartender steered me to some beers that were very good, and without the hoppiness. My favorite was the Honey Ale. My hubby loved the Bourbon Stout. I agree with a previous comment about the noise level being so much worse at Auburn Alehouse. You can barely carry on a conversation there. So good to know Cool Beerwerks has done something to mitigate the noise factor. We loved this place, and will definitely go back. read more
