This is an easy five star review. The food is simply amazing. Food: the fried chicken is fried to perfection. On the way over from the airport I was talking to the Uber driver about our favorite fried chicken place Willie May Scotch house. we talked about how we both love that place and how we wish it was still open. So that made me crave fried chicken. I am glad I found this place. The chicken here is simply amazing. Also, the jambalaya was just as good, full of flavor. Very tasty. I wish there was more sausage in the jambalaya because that was very good. Customer service was good, everyone that worked there was friendly but I gotta admit you guys gotta keep your heads up if you're gonna chat at other tables because there was at least two or three times where I went without my drink being attended to. Nothing wrong with chatting and having a good time with the clients, but you gotta keep your head on the swivel and make sure all of your clients are getting what they need. Did not have the shrimp creole this time. I opted for a combo shrimp and crawfish poboy. The bread was soft and melt-in-your mouth but also maintained its integrity in the face of overstuffed shrimp and crawfish. The fries are good, but you don't really need them, this poboy is enough. My husband had the jambalaya which is what he always gets and he was incredibly pleased to see that it's still damn good. The prices are still so reasonable, too. This is a place you need to time your meal because it gets pretty busy fairly quickly. I didn't use the restrooms here because I remember them being pretty bad so if they've been improved in the last 8 years, I apologize. read more

I'd call this a hidden gem but all the locals seem to know this is the real deal. All the food is made from scratch and it is bonkers good. I got the red fish and it was amazing. Something in the dish had a little kick and heat but it was that perfect amount to tickle your tongue. My girlfriend got the Rice and beans with fried chicken, that was amazing too. It was some of the juiciest chicken I've had. The place is a fun little dive bar atmosphere. Super fun and the staff was great. I haven't been here in a couple years, grabbed some dinner on a Saturday night. We stood in line for 20 min or so, before we were sat. Our server was hilarious, he told me the receipt says it's "Bob" lol.. He was brash to say the least, made jokes at other's expense and was so hilarious at the same time. We did everything.... he was the host, the server, the bartender, etc... He told us which items to avoid on the menu (F that pork chop, F that Shrimp Creole, told us to avoid some apps). We both opted for Coop's Taste Plate which Starts with gumbo (good but pretty spicy) the plate comes with fried Chicken, jambalaya, red beans and rice and shrimp Creole. It was all very tasty, next time I may just order fried chicken. . Oh, we started with the duck quesadilla, which wasn't very good this time. It was soggy due to a weird fruity sauce. read more

The food was amazing! The ambiance was perfectly fitting for a building from the late 1700's. The service was okay in regards to taking out order and getting the bill. They food came out quickly and was super worth it. Everything was super yummy! I had the fried chicken (great flavors) and red beans and rice, the best I had on my trip. My hubby had the RedFish Meunière and that was great. A little sweet and spicy and those green beans...So good! Also pictured is my mother-in-laws Coop's Taste Plate and it all looked delicious. Prior to heading to New Orleans, I had a friend send me food recommendations and Coop's Place was at the top of the list for lunch spots. We stopped in for a quick lunch and it was amazing. We had a hard time deciding so we ended up getting the Taste Plate with a side of Creole Green Beans and it was amazing!! My favorite part of the Taste Plate had to be the jambalaya but it was all so tasty. My fiancé really enjoyed the gumbo. The side of green beans were a hit too. They were buttery and bacon-y. I could've licked the plate if it was socially appropriate LOL. We heard from our server that what made people start lining up outside was the fried chicken and damn it was good. It had a perfect texture and flavor to it while being so juicy. Everything was delicious and the service was great. There was about a 10 minute wait to get inside but trust me, it's worth every minute. One thing to note, it is really dark inside so be prepared for that. read more

Very lively atmosphere with salt-of-the-earth types serving you. I really liked the old tavern vibe. The drinks were super strong and the food was authentic creole cuisine. I'd been looking for red beans and rice the whole time I was visiting and theirs didn't disappoint me. I forgot to ask for white meat for the fried chicken but it was still delicious. My daughter got the seafood chowder and she loved it. My son got the gumbo and said it was too spicy but I thought it was very good. The roux was flavorful and multilayered. My friend loves to frequent Coop's place for jambalaya and drinks whenever she comes to visit NOLA and brought my friends and I here. It's a quaint local hole in the wall spot with some of the best waitstaff. Our waitress made us feel right at home and took great care of our group. I ordered the local crab claws and I was in heaven! The meat was juicy and marinated just right. The jambalaya was bold and very flavorful. Even the fries were amazing. In addition, the etouffee was also delicious, full of seafood and flavor. I am taking a star off for the service provided though. The wait staff was slow to provide me with drinks and to take my orders, and was cold when speaking to me; this was odd as other patrons were seen to first and with polite conversation. This was the best meal we had our whole trip!! Ambiance (4/5): Be sure to wait outside, behind the line on the ground, instead of walking through the door to be seated. We were told that there was no phones allowed (including taking picture/video taking)! My friend got scolded when she took pics of her food and I got yelled at when I took a video from the *outside* of the establishment. The tables are long and you may get seated with other guests. It's dark and has a dive bar feel. Service (4/5): They are bustling so service was a little slow. However, the waiter (from upstate new York) was a hoot and gave us the best recommendations for what to get (and not get!) Expect the staff to curse and talk without filters haha Food (5/5): Everyone at the table was floored with their meals. I got the Coop's Taste Plate which had a little bit of everything.
