My partner and I were really excited to try Copper & Sage during Arizona Restaurant Week. The concept of a southern-inspired elevated gastropub sounded intriguing, and the special menu looked appealing. The interior was gorgeous, walking in felt like stepping into a thoughtfully curated, upscale space. The cocktails were refreshing and well-balanced, setting a great tone for the meal. Portion sizes were generous, which was a nice surprise. For starters, we tried the shishito hush puppies with corn garnish (the corn was creamy with a nice spicy kick) and the deviled eggs, which were seriously amazing. Both dishes really hit it out of the park. We also added on the arugula salad, which ended up being the best plate of the night: fresh, light, and flavorful. For entrées, we went with the short rib grilled cheese and the fried catfish. The short rib itself was tender and flavorful. The catfish was fried perfectly, crisp yet moist inside, though the vegetable medley underneath felt like an afterthought and didn't add much to the dish. Unfortunately, the service fell short. Our server didn't feel particularly warm or attentive, and we found ourselves waiting quite a bit. The biggest disappointment, though, was dessert, it was lackluster and a letdown after such a strong start to the meal. Copper & Sage made a great first impression with its beautiful interior, tasty cocktails, and standout appetizers. While the entrées were hit-or-miss and the dessert was a flop, the restaurant is still worth a visit, especially during Restaurant Week. If we return, it'll definitely be for the cocktails and apps, which are where the kitchen shines. read more

I really wanted to love this place--it's a beautiful spot and perfect for catching a game with a four-top right in front of the massive 150" screen. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the atmosphere. The Scottish salmon was underseasoned and served lukewarm. The double smash burger I ordered was disappointing; it was a single, barely smashed, and the dry brioche bun was a letdown. I've had much better at the actual smashburger chain. The hummus was well-seasoned, but it came with limp, soft naan that just didn't do it justice. The service was painfully slow, which might have been due to a backed-up kitchen. I understand they've only been open for two weeks, so there's definitely room for improvement. I appreciated the kind gesture from Dan, the manager, offering a discount and coupon, but I left feeling a bit let down overall. Hoping they can turn things around! read more

I've been to Copper and Sage twice now, and I look forward to going back again. The first time I went, I had the hot chicken with beignets--and wow, it was seriously delicious. The second time was during Restaurant Week, and I was super excited to see étouffée on the menu. You don't find that around here! It was really good, and if they ever bring it back, I'd definitely order it again. The only downside both times has been the service. After finishing my meal, I waited over 20 minutes just to get the check, even after asking. That part needs some work. On the bright side, the place looks great. The decor and vibe are on point, and it's a nice spot to sit and hang out. I do wish the menu had more options, but I get it they've a small kitchen. This is a GEM in Goodyear, by far one of best restaurants not only in the city but in Arizona. A MUST try. The quality of the food is premium, everything is fresh and not over or under seasoned, top tier produce and they an incredible Happy Hour Menu. Their team from front of house to the kitchen are all super hospitable and welcoming. You'll love the environment no matter what time you come in and what the occasion is, from dinning in to having meetings. Her ID had a small dent in it -- still clearly valid -- and instead of handling the situation appropriately, the security guard snapped her ID leaving it almost completely in half. Destroyed it. Then turned her away. That is not only disrespectful, it's completely out of line. Security's job is to verify IDs, not damage personal property. There are proper procedures for questionable IDs, and this was NOT one of them. No apology, no attempt to resolve the situation -- just unnecessary force and a complete lack of basic respect. If this is how they treat people at the door, I can't imagine how the rest of the establishment operates. I would strongly recommend going somewhere else where staff know how to handle situations professionally. I'm just curious - is the security guard now going to pay for her new ID?? This is OUTLANDISH behavior coming from a plain old Jane of a security guard. Clearly he didn't make the cut at the police academy...
