I am new to the Asheville food scene, coming from Boston but this place is bomb. Went on a Wednesday night and this place is popping. Waiter was super friendly and honest when I asked him how many dishes to order. Ordered 3 small plates for me and my girlfriend and ended up being a ton of food. Highly recommend the shrimp tempura - super tender and sitting in an absolutely delicious ponzu sauce. Portion sizes were generous and everything was super reasonably priced. Wish I could give we them more than 5 stars! The waiter (think his name was Brick) recommended the pork schnitzel, and boy, was he right! I didn't remember to take a photo, but the flavor combo of the au gratin potato with the pork, the saurkraut, and the white sauce was incredible! Great service! Was lucky to get a table as a walk in. Seems most tables are reserved... even the bar. Drink was amazing! I forget the name (gin,tequila and sherry), crawfish risotto was amazing! Love this super friendly restaurant and their awesome food, great service and amazing drinks. Plus it's a great place to go when I want a nice dinner and I have my dog with me. This was REALLY good food. Maybe my favorite place I visited as far as food goes. The price for such high quality dishes is surprising. It's more than your average chain restaurant, but not by much! I also technically ordered a small plate and it was the perfect amount, with just enough room for dessert. My only complaint is I came to the restaurant alone with my small dog, and called ahead to make sure dogs were fine, had a reservation, etc. After returning from the car to get the dog, they moved me to a table on the other side of the building where I was all by myself for my entire meal. Being that I was already alone, it made for a dull atmosphere. We used to love it here but not sure what has happened. We had to sit ourselves on the "heated" patio. Our server came over barely said hello and asked what we wanted to drink from across the patio. This is a little gem of a restaurant in the Oteen area, near the VA Hospital. Our service was excellent - warm, authentic, and attentive. They offered one vegetarian entrée, a tofu po'boy, but we weren't really feeling that, so we made a meal of sides: The arugula salad was attractive and fresh, with a skillful balance of flavors. The red beans and rice were nicely piquant, and the added fried egg really took the dish over the top. The crispy Brussels sprouts were glazed with Steen's syrup and served with pickled carrots and peanuts. Steen's 100% Pure Cane Syrup has been produced in a Southern Louisiana syrup mill since 1910. (I looked that up because I love you. You're welcome.) I was worried the sprouts might eat a little too sweet, but those fears were allayed with the first bite. An exquisite panoply of flavors and textures danced in my mouth - these babies are the real deal. The soup of the day was made from butternut squash, was topped with green onions and toasted pecans, and was flat-out amazing. (On a different occasion, I had the tomato soup/bisque, served with miniature grilled cheese sandwich croutons, and that was equally fantastic.) I am forced to take away a star because the vegetarian entrée selection was too limited. Here in Asheville, a meatless diner's paradise, having only one vegetarian offering just doesn't quite cut it. So the taste was very good. I dont usually eat brussell sprouts but they were given to us free, which was nice and would have never thought of ordering them but was surprised on flavor. Now portions leave something to be desired. The large plate honestly was the size of a small plate. The trout I was expecting more than 4 2x4 inch squares. Definitely not worth the price. My wife and I split two small plates (Brussels Sprouts and Fried Green Tomatoes) and one large plate (the burger). When we tried the dishes we each gave each other a look of "oh my, this is so good!" I love that this is a really cozy spot and I really love how they go for quality ingredients. The reason I'm writing this three star review is that the staff served me things I was allergic to. I've been here a few times and it just really upset me, especially bc it was my birthday. They did offer me a second free dessert and apologized for the error but it was still a huge bummer. We came on Saturday afternoon (5/13) based on the good reviews, however we were disappointed. We ordered the pork belly (it was very over cooked and dry), the crispy shrimp (they were overcooked and dry), the gnocchi (the best dish out of all of them), the mushrooms (they were just ok), and the scallops (too brown, however the flavor was ok). My kids ordered a hamburger (it was ok) and the risotto (very under seasoned and bland). Honestly for a $120+ meal before tip it was not good. We left and ordered food later that evening. read more

Everything was so flavorful and tasty. My boyfriend had the fried chicken which he said was delicious and super light for it being fried. I came here for brunch which they have on weekends. I was with two people and we ordered the works. Bacon, eggs, pancakes, toast, hash browns..you name it. We were all hungry and sampled everything. Verdict? Well.....this is kind of a downer to say but..... JUST KIDDING! It's a ten! Five stars for everything!! Crispy bacon? five stars. Luscious sweet syrupy pancakes? Five stars! Eggs over easy? Five stars. Buttery toast? Five yummy stars. Hashbrowns? hot coffee? warm friendly service? Ten, ten and ten. Yowsa, this place is good! I enjoyed everything about Copper Crown. It is the perfect breakfast place and has become my favorite breakfast stop in Ashville. Word of warning..brunch is only on weekends. Otherwise, they just do dinner during the week which I have not tried yet but which I am sure is awesome. The atmosphere is great as well. This is a must try. I ordered the bison medium rare and my meal came out absolutely ice cold and when I sent it back it came back out with the plate scolding hot and the food put back on top of it still ice cold and I was told that because I ordered my steak medium rare the only way to get it out of the kitchen was ice cold and I call BULLSHIT !!!!!! I have eaten at Copper Crown many times. It is our neighborhood go to for good and creative food. I do not, however, go without a reservation and expect to have immediate seating and to linger over conversation after dinner. It is not fair to the locals who have reservations andcontinue to return on an ongoing basis. I would say to those visiting from other cities that it has been my experience visiting restaurants in other states (have been to all states and 103 countries) that a small locally popular restaurant must operate on a reservation schedule to survive. There is, however, no excuse for rudeness. This is not acceptable. Rudeness from the hostess or wait staff has not, been my experience at Copper Crown. Although we didn't drink any alcohol the options were extensive. We came on a Tuesday, and they were packed, so make reservations. The ambience is more of an eclectic vibe with a touch of jazz bar feel. Although I live in Asheville, I don't get the RC Cola train that some places are on, pick a lane Pepsi or Coke :). First time in Asheville, and needed to find some dog-friendly activities in town. After walking the grounds of the Biltmore for hours (you can pretty much walk anywhere on the grounds but the house), we needed some fuel! A quick yelp search landed us at Copper Crown where we discovered it was discount beer and burger night! Score! (We went on a Sunday) We got a few small plates to taste, including the okra, field mushrooms which were so so so good(!), and the fried green tomatoes. We then took advantage of the deal on burgers and got their Hi-Fi burger with bacon, and blue cheese. Very tasty, and paired well with crispy fries. An added bonus, when I asked for a plain chicken breast for my pup, they were happy to oblige. (Yes, I'm that person)‍ The wait staff was so kind, even providing a bowl of water for my hot and thirsty pup. They were all so kind! We will definitely be back. read more
