Ignored upon arrival in bar for 10 minutes. After wandering until we found the cashier's station, and Amanda, rudely told us to "stand here" until we clear tables in the bar. She then began a self-dialogue loud enough for us to here about how demanding ' some people' were and how unappreciated she was; and "No, you couldn't have the obviously set and open table for 6 right next to the register, because that was for bigger parties than our foursome", (at 8:00 pm on a Sunday)! When I said that we just came here for a meal and didn't deserve to be treated so rudely, she told us to leave! I asked her speak to Cora, to complain about her attitude and she started screaming about how she didn't have to take this! STAY AWAY until she's replaced. We're fans of the bar! My husband and I visited late on a Sunday night. There were just a few people sitting at the bar. Our bartender was fun, warm and gracious, serving really well made margaritas and expresso martinis. It was a great ending to our day. read more

Best wings around, hands down. Best menu and food quality for the price in the area. They are tucked away down by the river on the corner of Church St. and Welwood Ave. Nice hidden gem on the outskirts of town. Service is almost always spot on with someone taking my order within minutes. Never waited more than 15 minutes for food to come out. Sometimes I'll just stop by later in the evening to grab a drink. There's always some sort of drink special, which is amazing, considering their drink prices are already very reasonable. Can't say enough positive things. I used to stop by some of the other bars because they permitted smoking, but since all the Hawley bars are non-smoking now, I think I'll be going to Cora's even more regularly. read more

Tonight was our second time trying Cora's Bistro. The first time all was new, figured for a quick bite it was ok...minus our waitress Kelly. That night she seemed miserable and had the personality of a garden slug! Tonight she waited on us again and that pushed us over the top. Terrible service, she was slow and again zero personality. She forgot an order of wings and tried to slip them on our table after we asked for the check and received it! Mind you our first order of 18 wings came in under 10 minutes...these, 30 minutes for 6 wings! My husband tried to get her attention and she pretended like she didn't hear him and ran into the kitchen. If you are looking for cheap, low quality food and terrible service this is your place. Food is moderately good and moderately priced. However, their customer service is atrocious. We were there last night and the waitress dumped my husbands entire dinner all over him, melted butter dripping from his head and in his eyes. New shoes ruined. Pants and shirt COVERED in sauce and veggies. As she was fumbling to clean the table, she knocked over a full glass of soda onto MY LAP. Accidents can happen and I actually felt badly for the waitress. We never raised our voices and never said a word. The insult came when when we received the bill. A portion of the bill was comp'd, but the majority of the bill was brought to our table. When I attempted to discuss the incident with the owner the next day, (I am told there is no one "in charge" in the evenings) she was beyond rude and told me the staff is on their own to decide how to defuse and repair such situations. Cora told me her waitress had done enough and she even said the situation as I described it never happened!! She obviously has no idea how to value her customers and insure they return. I have never had such rude treatment - EVER! We actually could have made quite a seen, but decided not to upset the waitress. So much for civil behavior. Cora should be ASHAMED of herself. read more

I went for the king crab all you can eat for 45.00 each person. We had the last plate of legs come to the table and ate some but not all. I asked to take home the remainder. The food and drinks are good but the waitresses treat people like trash. I was there recently and the place wasn't too busy but when I sat down to wait for a waitress to come say hello and ask what I would like they all walked past me like I didn't exist!! I waited 10 minutes for a waitress to stop at my table. When I said something to 1 of the waitresses I was told we're all busy right now so you're going to have to wait. I then stopped another waitress who said she would be right back. She went into the kitchen and came back and finally stopped at my table. I had a menu in front of me and told her what I would like to order. She took my offer and within 15 minutes she came back with the food but no drink. I asked her if she forgot about my drink. Her reply was you didn't order any drinks. I clearly told her I ordered the drink when I ordered the food. I told her again what I wanted to drink. She walked away and said something to another lady standing by the bar. The lady standing by the bar had gotten my drink and nearly spliced it on me!! I ate my food and didn't stay to chat with anyone else as I noticed other people there were chatting amongst each other. read more

Had dinner at Cora's last nite....the hot wings were wonderful as usual. Unfortunately the waitress was NOT. If a waitress has a bad day PLEASE do not take it out on your patrons. She slammed the menus on our table and told us our waitress would be right over and went ahead and took our drink order. Atmosphere and ambiance aside, the food here on a Saturday night in July was excellent. The fact that the restaurant could accommodate us with no notice since we were just passing through was greatly appreciated. I didn't get to see the main restaurant area, but the back where we were seated was simple, clean but very cold. There was actually a sign on the door saying to bring your sweatshirts since the wait staff has no control over the temperature settings! Crock of onion soup, chicken Caesar wrap and veal Francaise were all delicious. We only found the place through Yelp where we saw both positive and negative reviews but decided to try it ourselves and are very glad we did so. Prices were very reasonable, and entrees come with a nice salad, vegetable and potato or rice. All in all, a delicious meal at a great price. read more

Very disappointing experience. Four of us walked into the bar area of the restaurant, for drinks and sandwiches. There was a booth totally open and a table of 10 leaving. We had to wait 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us then were told if we didn't have reservations they could not accommodate us. Really? It's a bar and there was open seating and no waiting line. We were expecting a casual dinner but this was a very unpleasant dinne one. It was crab night and floor was so dirty, probably from the crabs but no one working there even pretentded des to clean up. And empty tables were led uncleared for too long. Food was verymedioctez. . Maybe our mistake for not getting the crabs. My husband had fish which was just ok with pretty forgettable sides including undercooked baked potato. I got chicken Caesar wrap. At the age of 60 this is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The first time my family tried to eat there they lost our reservation. The second time, they also lost our reservation. She told them they could be seated in non smoking in about 10 minutes. They then told us we would have to wait an hour more before being seated in non smoking. The food may or may not be good. Worst place I have eaten in a long time. First let me say, I used to LOVE Cora's. It used to be a treat to go there and was a nice dining experience until I went there for lunch. First it took 2 1/2 hours to get served lunch. The waitress (who I think was actually the owner but would not fess up) was rude, obnoxious, slow and a horrible waitress all in all. If she wasn't the owner, she should be fired. The food was okay, but it was definitely not worth the aggravation. Avoid this place like the plague. HORRIBLE. read more

Made reservations for 6 at 8 pm and had to wait 40 mins to be seated. it took 2 hrs before we got our food. Very disappointed. I don't think I will be going back unless Erin is rehired.
