Great food. The french onion soup cant be beat. The chef is very accommodating and made me a dish that was not on the menu due to dietary restrictions. (eggplant, roasted red peppers, mozzarella cheese on a special roll). Very friendly staff and prices were more than fair. read more

Do not go there they threw Minced garlic on my wings and called it garlic Parmesan then threw teriyaki sauce on a plate and put the wings on it and called the teriyaki the waiters there are absolutely disgusting and treat you like you're scum stay far away from them and pick something and Honsdale or Hawley on main street do not go to them their food is absolutely disgusting it's also not sanitary the kitchen cooks don't use gloves or wear hair nets my wife's lobster roll was frozen and hair all over it!! The wings are very dry and small. It's tastes like they refried the wings. They are almost consistency of a beef jerky. Domino wings are better than this place. read more

Went here 2x while staying in Hawley. The food was terrific! Nothing pretentious and recommend for sure!

First, let me start my review by saying that 99% of the time Ive LOVE my meals at Cora's 1850 Bistro in Hawley, PA. Being my husband and I ventured up north back to the Pocono Mountains area for a while, we decided to be nostalgic and visit an old favourite of ours. Cora's is not in the center of any town, city, etc but an adorable little Hamlet near the town of Hawley, PA. Painted bright blue-ish purple on the outside, the inside has two dining areas. A more formal (yet still Oh so casual )dining room and the 'bar side' which has a bar, a few tv's, and then about10 tables that can accommodate couples on a date or families with kids at the larger round tables in the corner. So, you get the idea. Just a friendly 'down home' atmosphere and something for everybody. The numerous times we've dined at Cora's we have enjoyed their delicious oysters on the half shell, a fine glass of ( house) Merlot, and a comfortable atmosphere while awaiting what was sure to be a lovely LARGE meal that would then continue to feed us from the 'take home' portion for days... At this time, we had ordered 2 orders of 6 oysters each. They didnt have enough and stated they were having a tough time getting them ( How old WERE these oysters....?) They did bring an order of 9 and only charged us for an order of 6. So far so good..... We ordered our cocktails: My husband, whoo you all know is my constant handsome dinner companion, ordered a Pomegranate Martini and I ordered a dry Grey Goose Martini. I was a bit concerned, being Ive been taught by some of the best bartenders all over the world the secret of making 'the perfect martini'. The bartender was in my view so I watched as he shook the martini only a few times before pouring into an un-chilled glass...hmm.....I was wary.....I was also pleasantly surprised because it was really GOOD! lol ) sheepishly admit I did have another later in the evening ....there was a reason for this tho...read on.... This said, my husband ordered Bistro Duck and I ordered an entree called Chicken Oscar Saladas prior were nothing special but fresh with a wonderful bleu cheese dressing . Our entree's arrived and immediately my heart dropped a bit. My Chicken Oscar was presented as bland looking as it tasted. I was totally underwhelmed and after tasting ( And I didnt really even want to but hey, it's dinner and Im HUNGRY ) the chicken, I realized I didnt want to eat any more of it. The asparagus that came with it was tough and there was a dollop of mashed sweet potatoes (?) that I didnt bother to taste. All in all my meal was a disaster. And let me reiterate, every meal Ive had at Cora's in the past two years has been flavourful and savory and satisfying. This was a surprise to me and so THIS ws the reason for martini number 2...:) My husband;s Bistro Duck was nicely done and the one taste of did have of his meal was delicious. All in all, we do love Cora's 1850 Bistro for the entire experience so Im assuming it was just maybe an off night for the chef who prepared my meal. The Service was professional and competent but I was a bit surprised when the server came to clear the dinner plates and, noticing that my meal was not touched, never questioned this... Description: Family, casual, cozy, friendly, (usually) excellent food ( and lots of it ), comfortable, and, yes, good martinis :) Definitely a nice little place for a nice meal so even tho this particular entree was not good, I still give Cora's a thumbs up! It is what it is and doesnt pretend to be anything but a nice family restaurant in the mountains of PA. Enjoy! read more

We gave this place two tries because we are locals and want local businesses to thrive. They are 0 - 2 We were a table of 6 on a Saturday night at 6:30. The place was about half full. 4 burgers, a salad, a wrap and cheese fries type dish was the total order. It took over 2 hours. You read that right 2 hours!! The service isn't slow, it's dead. There is no excuse but we weren't even offered one. Note to Managment: 1 - when a table asks for an update on their order 4 times over the span of an hour plus, stop saying it's coming right out. 2 - clean your soda guns Just plan bad business. My bf and I went there for lunch, as we heard lots of good reviews about this place. And all of them were true!! The food is just delicious! I ordered chicken fillet in banana sauce - it was awesome! Sweet and tender... never tried something similar . My boyfriend ordered filet mignon medium rare - and he told only one thing - "I never tasted something like that - I'm in heaven"!))) drinks also good! Staff is nice and friendly. I have never had a bad meal at coras. The only problem ive ever had there are the tourists. I swear the .09% rudest people of new jersey and new york come to vacation in the poconos, but if you can withstand that, youve got it made!! Not only are the staff friendly and pleasant, but the food is the best in this area. Everything is made fresh to order everyday. How do I know? I asked Cora. After hiking to see the local waterfalls, we went looking around Hawley for some food. Stumbled across this place. Very nice Pennsylvania old hotel ambiance. Friendly service. Big portions on the food. Food was good. They have gluten free options. I had the cheesesteak on gluten free bun, which was excellent and substituted the fries for their loaded chips which was a huge helping of chips loaded with nacho cheese, banana peppers, onions etc. way more food than I can eat. We were told great things about this restaurant by an antique shop owner & ended up coming here on wing night. The wings were absolutely fantastic! You must try the teriyaki, honey, garlic sauce! We went to dinner here during Wally Fest weekend. The restaurant was very busy. Luckily we were able to get reservations for 7pm. I had the Prime Rib Surf & Turf special which was made exactly the way I ordered it. My husband had the Gardener's Pasta. We were eating in the dining room which was full & the bar area seemed quite busy also. The service was very friendly and fast considering how busy they were. My dinner was very good. The portion sizes are quite large and the prices reasonable. We will definitely be bsto try their veggie burger and wing special. We had a very good time. $3 Lagunitas Saturday special! Never in my adult life have I had a stranger speak to me the way the waitress did here. My four year old threw up in my arms in the lobby and I rushed him outside so it wouldn't get all over the floor. No one came outside to check on my family and someone had to go in and ask for napkins and a glass of water to clean myself and my son up. While sitting outside waiting to see how he felt, we decided to order dinner to go. while Sitting and waiting for our food on the front steps, my son Started crying saying he would be sick again. A waitress came outside and threw a bucket of water on the porch and splashed me and my son. She then yelled and cursed at me for having to clean up after my son While I just "sat there" I was so shocked I thought I heard her wrong. My husband yelled at her and we left. When he called to speak to the owner and apologize, she made no apology for the waitress behavior and said it was appropriate "given the situation". which was a small spot off thrownup that had fallen off of my clothes onto the porch. Who speaks to people like that?!?! Much less costumers. We left a %30 tip BYW for their trouble, too bad it was before the incident or I would have left the food there and not paid at all. read more

Called and made a reservation for 7:30 but waited 45 minutes in the bar area and a waitress never came to us to take our order. We ended up calling in a take out order and eating at our table just to be petty and not tip the waitresses that pretended we were invisible. Wings were alright - they've been better. And to top off this horrible customer service experience, the restaurant has NO CRAZY STRAWS. Unacceptable. read more

You would never know about this place unless you were a local or heard about it from a regular. But it IS AMAZING ! whenever i venture out to that area I always make sure to stop in. They serve my all time favorite wings. I talk about them all the time and no one compares. The Long Island iced teas and great -- soups-- appetizers are awesome !! Six of us left the majority of our dinner and after complaining about the quality and the taste of the food, all the waitress would do was remove the price of two meals. No manager to be found. Horrible service. Ordered 2 drinks and it took 25 minutes. I walked up to the bar and told the bartender not to make our drinks when the ticket comes up. I told him we've been waiting over 25 minute. Was a bit worried at first because of the wide array of items on the menu, Normally this isn't a good sign. The food was actually very good though considering the array of items on the menu. The first few times I came to Cora's a few years ago the food was really good and I had given them a third star. I had to edit this after I went this weekend and it lacked a lot of luster. First off, my stuffed flounder with crabmeat was rubbery. It seemed as though it was microwaved first then broiled for color. Needless to say, you should not have to use a steak knife on flounder. The filet mignon was thin, so therefore the price point was very high for the quality. The crowd seems to keep going back and maybe that has to do with the fact that they have a great selection of entertainment, and specials. Maybe I just caught them on a VERY off night. read more

Three of us came in very hungry on a weekday evening and had a great meal. Took a few minutes to get seated and it wasn't exactly clear where to go at first (you have to go down a small hallway to be seated), but no big deal! We had mussels in wine and garlic sauce and a pretzel with cheese sauce for appetizers and both were terrific. The three of us ordered a burger, wrap, and sandwich and were satisfied with everything. My girlfriend took me to Hawley, PA for a bed and breakfast. We chose to eat here because we were hungry and we didn't know the area. It looks like your typical bar & grill but really isn't. We ate there for lunch and I ordered the BLT with Smoked Salmon and caper mayo with onions, not tomato. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It was on crunchy ciabatta bread. For some reason I was a little inebriated and I may have delivered a backhanded compliment to the waitress about the restaurant. For that, I apologize. Great food. read more
