I cannot sing the praises of John, owner of Core Heating & Air high enough. I called with a Solar Attic Fan issue and within 45 minutes he and his son were at my front door (14 miles away)! John was on my roof, assessed my solar fans which were not working, cleaned out a hornets nest in one and showed me how to save money by ordering replacement fans myself. While I was ordering the replacement fans, John made some adjustments to my propane furnace, allowing me to close the furnace closet door, which the installer (10 years prior had failed to make. John is truly a Jack of all trades but his true expertise is in HVAC. I am very grateful to John at Core Heating & Air Conditioning Repair. I have an older wall heater that hasn't worked in many years because PG&E and other heating service techs told me that it was not fixable. I actually hired Core to replace a burned out pilot light part on another freestanding gas space heater and when John asked about my wall heater, I explained that I was told by two service crews that it wasn't fixable but he wanted to take a look. He quickly found the issue and had it working within the hour! And really worked with me to ensure that fixing it was within my budget. My heater started to make a dripping sound, and the company that had installed it and the A/C unit did a very poor job so I did not want to call them to come back out to check it out. We had used John for a couple of jobs at Moga Transport in Petaluma and knew that he does a fantastic job, responds quickly and charges a fair rate. I think everyone should call John, especially if you want it done right. He came out the next day, fixed my issue, which was a very poor drain install, he took it out and reinstalled it and is does not make the noise anymore, he also made a suggestion on the best filter to buy for the unit and checked everything to make sure it was running great before he left. I had such an amazing experience with John about a year ago that it was an easy decision to call him up again when I needed help with my A/C. Since then, John has repaired issues with my father's heating and air conditioning, installed ductless mini split units on our building for our company, and is about to install a new ductless mini split system on my house. I called John over to check my AC unit, and fix some rattling noises in the vents. He was able to fix the noises very quickly, and thoroughly cleaned out my whole HVAC system. He vacuumed the air intake, and washed and dryed the AC unit. He found that the fuses were the wrong size and was able to replace the whole unit immediately to address the issue. What is even more outstanding is that he was that he was able to fix a leak in my main water line and one of my water valves as well. Completely above and beyond in terms of service quality, attention to detail, knowledge, and his friendly demeanor. Would recommend to anyone. read more

My floor furnace was making a loud noise so I decided to have it checked out. I called John Salus from CORE heating and air conditioning. He came the next day and had to crawl under the house to check it out. After cleaning it, he informed me it's just getting older and makes louder sounds, but nothing is wrong with it. I also have a smaller furnace upstairs that quit working many years ago but the estimate was too expensive to fix. He looked at it and fixed it for a very reasonable price. It is refreshing to meet and be served by an honest man. I had a previous quote for $17,000 to replace my furnace and air conditioner. As it turned out, all I needed was a fuse! He fixed my air conditioner and cleaned it up and it is like new and runs perfectly! He was fast and efficient. There also is nothing wrong with my furnace and it does not need replacing, even though I was told by the other company that I should replace it and they would "give me a reduced rate if I replaced both units at the same time". John inspected the wall furnaces and explained what he was looking for and what he found. One of the furnaces had not been used in years and was full of cob webs, he didn't tell me to buy a new one, he took the unit apart and cleaned it all out, including the vent to the roof and the vent cap on the roof. It was so hot, but John wasn't going to leave without making sure the unit and vent was 100% clean and safe. He went above and beyond and offered outstanding service.
