It upsets me to have to write this but the importance of allergies being taken seriously is beyond important not just for my child, myself but many many others that look to my reviews for confirmation that a place is safe. I've heard great things about this restaurant. Tonight we had a showing on our home and decided to enjoy a place (semi) close to home (aka 40 min). I did my due diligence and spoke over the phone to a manager before we traveled. We were assured of vegan, gluten free & dairy free options. We chose the pappadum for my youngest (dairy allergic & vegetarian) and myself. We enjoyed the cilantro sauce a lot. When the chicken wings came my hubby asked for me if they were also dairy free. She said yes. But then she said "but not the chicken tikka." Which my oldest son had ordered. I said "oh no they asked for me" (which I told her I needed gf/df). Then she said "oh well that (aka the cilantro sauce with the pappdum) has a tiny bit of dairy". What??? The menu said vegan and gluten free. Why would you serve a sauce with a vegan and gf item if it didn't fit that criteria???? People can die from being exposed to an allergen. Our daughter has a prescribed epi-pen. I feel it's my responsibility to share this info. It's scary this can still happen in this day and age. We got free pappadum and 10% off which wasn't what we expected. We didn't ask for it. Wow, what amazing flavors of India! We love Indian food but have to drive out to get the good stuff. We're so happy to get a great place like this to the neighborhood (GVR). We've ordered take-out a couple times after we found out they were finally open. The Chai is almost as good as I make at home. My wife and I enjoyed it very much while waiting for our order with the Indian music playing in the background. It's a great atmosphere and can't wait to eat there ;-) The Coriander Naan is stuffed with serrano pepper, garlic, and fresh coriander. That sounded different so I wanted to try it... OMG Aye Caliente! They are not kidding about stuffed with serrano, every bite had some bits of serrano pepper. If you like it hot, this is for you. After a few bites I switched to the regular naan to save my taste buds for the rest of the wonderful dishes. Ye have been warned. The Coconut Shrimp appetizer was so good that every last drop of the Korma with coconut sauce was devoured and had us wanting more. I love a good Dal and the Makhni did not disappoint. Dal Makhni is one of my favorite dishes so I'll be ordering this one a lot. My wife's fav dish is of course the Chicken Tikka Masala like many others, so we tried that first to get a baseline. The Masala is milder than I prefer but perfect for my wifey and quite tasty. Some places over-crank the heat so milder but tastier is preferred and Coriander pulls it off well. We next tried Lamb in both Korma and Curry. Both sauces where flavorful. The Lamb was more tender and juicy in the Korma compared to the Curry where it was a little on the dry side but we'll get them both again. All the food so far has been as wifey says "amazingly delicious" and we can't wait to try the rest. Update 5/3/2018 ~ They've only been open a week and ordered take-out twice for the above. We decided to come in for dinner after a tough day. Tried and loved the Achari Wings which were tender, juicy and full of flavor with the pickle spices. The Tandoori Shrimp were fantastic, especially with a splash of lime and a side of Masala because that's how we roll B-) We finished the meal off with Kulfi for dessert which hit the spot with yummi pistachios on top. I ordered the Tikka Masala with chicken and the suggested Garlic Cheese Naan... and my husband ordered the Bharta Makhni (vegetarian eggplant dish). First, I was surprised by the portion size because it was a normal one person portion, I mean, we ate every bite... usually with Indian food I am eating for days afterwards. So since we were traveling it was nice that the portions were smaller TBH and the prices were moderate. My Chicken Tikka Masala was good but not super rich in flavor or heat. I ordered between medium heat (I actually asked for a little hotter than medium) and it was mild, same with my husbands. So it kinda missed the mark for me, but it wasn't bad by any means. The Bharta Makhni was really good, and I don't really love eggplant! I would recommend this dish for sure. Very frustrated with my experience this evening. I am vegan and the menu has a V next to options that are meant to be vegan. However, we ordered two appetizers that were marked vegan and half way through eating a server came over to let us know that the sauce served with each of the appetizers were not vegan. The roti also was marked vegan but our waiter asked if I would like it without butter. Meaning that without asking the roti would not be vegan. I understand that the mistakes were not intentional and most of the food was good (which is why I'm giving 4 stars). That being said if you are marking something as VEGAN on your menu it should either BE VEGAN or be marked as VEGAN OPTION AVAILABLE. I am in town for work and stumbled upon this place. They do a good amount of lunch business, no buffet, they have lunch specials and happy hour is from 11a-6pm. The samosas were so tasty, 2 in the lunch order. The food is easy to share with tablemates . . . get two lunch entrees would easily feed 3-4 ppl and it comes with rice. Naan is extra, but they bring a good amount. Everything was very flavorful. I also got a to go meal and the service all around was wonderful. If I am back in this area I would go again. So I have driven past this place quite a few times never knowing it was there. However, a friend invited me for lunch and I am so glad she chose this place! The atmosphere is medium sized, however the feel is very quaint. We had excellent service and were able to sit and have a lunch meeting with no interruptions and very low noise. The naan was also very flat and dough-like unlike what's supposed to be very fluffy and airy. Perhaps I got a batch that wasn't fresh but I just wasn't impressed. I also ordered a Marsala chai, and once again it just didn't pack that flavor that I was hoping for. It was basically just milk and no spice. The chicken korma was good, not the best I've ever had. I don't do a ton of reviews unless a place really impresses or disappoints me. As a former chef and restaurant owner I know how important it is to receive feedback on how the restaurant is doing and try to show respect when a place knocks it out of the park. Coriander REALLY impressed me! Let me start out by saying I love Indian cuisine. I've been to several places around town and would put Coriander at the top of my list. We arrived for lunch and ordered Chicken Korma and Lamb Vindaloo extra spicy with some garlic Naan bread. I wasn't sure what to expect because this was our first time here. The servers were very friendly and accommodating and the food arrived quickly. When I put the first bite of of food in my mouth, I knew I found a new regular spot. Everything we ordered was fantastic and I mean FANTASTIC! They served a big pile of perfectly cooked basmati rice with the dishes and it was one of the best lunches I've had in a long time. After finishing every last drop, my friends and I were stuffed, but the food was so good I wanted order more. I cant wait to go back and explore more of the menu because these guys are going to see me often! Hats off Coriander... wonderful job!
