Not bad for the price we paid. We were a table of 7 people. Service is not great here but given the price and food quality its not bad. Big portion size. Prices are at the lower end. Best thing is no tea fee. I would say my favorite is still the shrimp dumpling or har gow. Food came at a reasonable time. The sticky rice was really good. The rice roll was not bad. We ordered several dishes and all of them tasted good. There was nothing that I didn't like. Each person paid around $20 after tip and taxes which was a very good price per person. Decor was ok. Nothing fancy. The washroom is the worse given that it is downstairs and many of the seniors customers are not able to walk down the stairs. Worst attitude from a server. Ever. We used to love this place for its fresh, delicious food and reasonable prices. I even brought my family after raving about it, but this visit was a huge disappointment due to terrible service. We were fine waiting for our since it was busy, but one dish never arrived. When we followed up, our server immediately said, "the kitchen is steaming it right now," without checking. Twenty minutes later, we still hadn't received the dish, so we followed up again -- that's when he finally went to check and came back saying the kitchen never received the order. It was printed right on our ticket. His only offer was to cancel it, then when we asked how long we would have to wait if we wanted it, he said at least 15-20min, but it was obvious he would rather us cancel it. We'd already waited long enough and added money to our parking while waiting the first time and the dismissive attitude we got when we'd been polite and patient was infuriating. When we paid, the cashier admitted it was their fault but barely apologized. I don't expect perfect service at a dim sum restaurant, but being lied to and brushed off is unacceptable. The food is great, but after this experience, it's hard to want to come back or even recommend it to others. Very disappointing. read more

Food was good and in huge portion for a good price. But the service was absymal. Some items never arrived and we checked in with the server to check on them. He told us the kitchen is on it. 20 minutes later he came back saying the kitchen never got our order. Well, then why tell us the kitchen is on it 20 minutes ago when we followed up? We expressed our disappointment to them but they did not seem to care. I was looking forward to this spot as I love dim sum! Unfortunately my siblings and I found it underwhelming. The service was really slow when we arrived and we had to flag down our server quite abit just to get in our order. We ordered a lot and everything was just a bit bland and also huge in terms of girth on the dim sum which I didn't love. The restaurant itself is quite bright and lacks in overall decor. Last minute dimsum decision on a weekend. We found Corner 29 on Yelp. Didn't sound like a dimsum restaurant but the photos showed tasty looking dimsum so we gave them a try. Restaurant was packed around 12pm but we got a table within 5 minutes. Ordered the standard dimsum (cha siu bao, har gow, ham siu gwok, etc). Large portion sizes and tasty ingredients. Only dish that didn't meet our expectation was the Shredded Pork and Century Egg Congee which was under-seasoned. They have a back room with additional tables. Less lively ambience here. Plastic table covering had holes in it. Otherwise was clean-ish. Service was slow like many others said. Asked for ice water that never came. We weren't in a rush so didn't mind and my kid didn't bug me for the water so we left it alone, but some people might mind being ignored. Easy street parking. Food coma afterwards. Bonus: No tea charge like other dimsums which can add up when you go in a big group (and not worth it when you're going with kids). So pretty affordable dimsum by nowaday standards. read more

This was a hidden gem on Main Street and my friend told me to try this if we wanted quality dimsum at a relatively economical price! We got there early before 11 am so we got a table without reservations needed. The service was pretty decent and the food was tasty and portions very generous! We went to this place for early lunch Dim Sum on Saturday morning. This place is a typical Asian restaurant with minimum decors. On that day, we ordered a few Dim Sum dishes and beef rice noodle roll. All the dishes tasted great and it reminded me the traditional style available in Chinatown back 10 years ago. Corner 29 is packed for Mother's Day for good reason - solid dim sum that is fresh (not frozen then reheated), generous portions and reasonably priced. Most items are still under $10. It's New Year Day (Jan 1, 2024) and wondering where to have lunch. We though how about Corner 29 for dim sum. Thank goodness I called for reservation for 1:30pm. We arrived right now time and we were skeptical to get our reservation with a large crowd at the lobby and out the door. Well, the reservation worked wonders and we were seated within 5 mins. Now to the food. The staff running clearing tables and reseting for next guest like there was no tomorrow! The first dish came out 12 mins but the rest came out about 5-10mins. The service was a bit slow but it's Jan 1, I had nowhere to go anyways. The size of the siu mah and beef balls were gigantic! The rest of the items were good except the Chinese donut with rice roll, the donut was crispy and fried more than I would like. Otherwise, I would come back again. This location used to be King's Chinese Restaurant for dim sum when I frequently went weekly with my mom (before it was MeetRice Noodles). The interior is updated since King's Chinese Restaurant. Go there for lunch quite often. Not always easy to get a table. I'll start with everything before the food. Service is 5/10. Ambiance is meh.....but the food....is amazing. You know when the culture is different to western culture, you should ignore the bullshit and look at the food. The dim sum is really special. 10/10. I'm old, so food is the most important. Discovered this GEM on IG - and decided to make a reservation for New Years Day. And I'm so glad I made the reservation, as this place got packed like crazy - groups waiting for tables inside and outside. And bonus points for a Dim sum restaurant actually honoring a reservation and having the table ready at the agreed time! Restaurant can be found very easily as it's on the corner of Main & 29th! Hence the name corner 29 made a lot of sense! Plenty of paid street parking in the surrounding area! And since it's on a main road, easily accessible by transit!~ Service was slightly on the slower side. However the place is packed so I would let it slide! We ordered a bunch of the well known favorite Dim Sum picks. And honestly I have 0 complaints. Everything was quite delicious! I also was able to taste each dish as it's own thing, so happy to not have a mouthful full of salt and oil! Portions for price was extremely fair! Pieces were pretty gigantic! Corner 29 is my new favourite place for dim sum. Scored high on location (middle of Vancouver), easy to get to by car or transit, free street parking, good portion size, delicious food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. No food cart. Order by paper check list. They make the best hand scraped rice rolls with beef and cilantro - just melts in your mouth. Offers the classic Cantonese dishes but their Har Gow and Sui Mai were huge! Dim sum dishes were $7.20-$9.70 so pretty good prices for Vancouver. For three people, and ordering about 6-7 dishes, our total was about $65 without tips. Definitely recommend and have been spreading the word to other family and friends. For large group, best to make reservations. Been many times without reservations and managed to get a table with little waiting time before 10:30am. read more

Walking up Main Street and noted Corner 29 replaced the previous Chinese establishment, Meet Rice Noodle, that was here for the past 3 yrs. Happy to see that this is a dim sum establishment as Kings (also dim sum) was at this location for many years before it was replaced by Meet Rice Noodle. I checked out the menu and prices are in line with dim sum establishments in the area. I will be back to sample the fare and provide an updated review on the food and service. read more

We came on a Saturday and we were there right at 10am. By around 10:30am the restaurant was pretty full. There are probably only 14 tables in total. Mostly small tables We ordered chicken feet, siu Mai, ham sui gok fried pork, cheong fun rice rolls with fried fish paste and egg tarts The chicken feet was delicious. They cut it into 6 pieces. Very soft and flavourful. I would this again The siu mai pork shrimp dumplings were hearty and well seasoned. I felt like the skin of the dumpling was too soft. It kind of just melted. Wouldn't order this again The ham siu gok was really crispy and chewy. The skin wasn't too thick. The inside wasn't overly salty and there was quite a bit of filling. I would order this again The rice rolls with fish paste on the inside was not bad. I felt like the rice roll didn't have much rice fragrance to it but it was indeed very thin. The inside fish paste was crispy but it didn't have fish flavour. I liked the crunch though. I wouldn't order this one again but maybe the beef rice rolls because the portions for that one looked huge. The egg tarts were not memorable. The tart itself had lots of layers but no butter flavour. Inside has no egg flavour Wouldn't order again Overall the menu is not huge but enough that you'd be satisfied with the options. The dessert menu is way too small. They need to add some more sweets. The food doesn't come out super fast and they don't have a lot of waiters but they are attentive. The manager who is in charge of the phones has a great sense of humor and tell is as it is. Overall I would go back to try other items. The price point is good and the quality is not bad read more

We got there at 10:10 am and the restaurant was starting to fill up. The service is quite slow and food takes a while to come out . I really liked the beef steamed rolls. It was good and the portion was substantial. The spring roll was good but not a lot for the price. It was full of prawns and tasty though. The shrimp dumplings and siu mai were huge and really good. Can't say I like the pan fried buns. It was soggy and not great. The juicy buns were a rip off cause you only get 4 for almost $9. I would say that some dishes are a good deal but others not so great. Like that the food in general is pretty good. Might be a new regular. Waiving the tea fee is good but no 10% off like other dim sum places. read more

7 dinner dishes for a table of 7. Took at least 30 min for our first fish to arrive which was pork chops in capital (Peking) sauce, so much vinegar in it. Beef tenderloin in gourmet sauce was basically in the same sauce as the pork dish with much less vinegar but a little salty, one piece was actually almost too rare, with only 5 pieces for 7 ppl. Another long pause, about 15 min, before pea tips in garlic sauce arrived which was the only really good dish out of the 7 we ordered. Shrimp with gai lan was oily. Chicken hotpot was very oily & was far the saltiest of all the dishes. Beef brisket & daikon hotpot (not pictured) was ok but the daikon tasted a little old & undercooked. House special chow mein came in this huge deep bowl, at first we thought oh look how big this is, and once set down, the size of it was almost laughable. Also, we noticed most of the tables received dishes that were heaping, yet all of ours were lacking. Big thumbs down. We went for dim sum on a weekday; our timing wasn't great--arrived just before noon and it was packed, with a very full waiting area and a 30- to 45-minute wait. Prices are good, compared to other dim sum restaurants and the food is okay but you have to shout to be heard by your dining partner. The noise level is like a train station at rush hour. Even half an hour after we were seated and the dining room was less crowded, the noise was unbearable. There were two waitresses and two busboys serving the whole restaurant, so service was what was to be expected. read more

The dim sum food was pretty standard for quality, however the prices for the dim sum are a bit on the high side. The EXTREMELY BAD thing about this place is the PATHETIC service. I was put in a seat on a big shared table for dim sum. The other people sharing the table were friendly and kind so that made the experience tolerable. The table could accommodate 8 people but there were only 5 of us for the whole morning sitting. If they switched to smaller tables, it would have been a better for all of us. When I left, the staff could not "clean" my spot as there were still 4 other guests. The orders for the 3 different groups at the table were mixed up several times. This meant not everything that was ordered was brought to the table in a timely fashion, some items did not arrive at all, and two items were delivered twice. The management needs to get someone who knows how to run a restaurant to get in there and set things up. I will not be going back. read more
