Was craving pancakes and just so happened to be in the area. Always a peaceful atmosphere with friendly staff. Ordered the pancake combo with bacon and eggs. No complaints, it was all good. Update from a year ago. I had the chopped salad entree-sized with balsamic dressing. This is what made me decide to to do an update. It came with 2 dressings at extra charge. The salad was big and a meal. The dressing was perfect, sweet and not to vinegary. My wife had the soup and and the chef salad. The salad was almost a full meal itself. I went to this corner bakery trying to get the special 2 for $6.99. It did not disappoint. The service was top notch. A young lady by the name of Laynia and Gabe are the ones who took care of me. I thought Gabe was one of the people who assisted with your order, only to find out he was the manager. He assisted Laynia in preparing the orders and then he brought my order to me and said Thank you have a good day. A lot of places the manager does not participate but Gabe served with a smile. I haven't been to CB in a while. Thought I'd take advantage of a promotion going on. I ordered the shrimp scampi which had absolutely no taste whatsoever. If I was blindfolded, I wouldn't have been able to identify the dish. Noodles were dry as well. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich, which used to be my family's favorite. It was also disappointing. Decided to give Corner Bakery a shot since its right across from Staples where I had been shopping and we needed breakfast. Nice sized place with booths and tables and outside seating. There were only a few people seated on a Saturday at 9:30am. No crowds. Lovely! Menu includes both breakfast and lunch options. The breakfast menu is short and to the point and includes pancakes and gluten free toast. Orders are placed at the register and then brought to your table if you are dining in. I enjoyed the veggie scrambler: scrambled eggs, peppers, onions, mushrooms and cheese, toast (GF for me), potatoes or fresh fruit and bacon. The food was pretty good, cooked well and I really don't have any complaints. The food was fresh, hot and served pretty quickly. Never been to corner bakery before so I didn't know what to expect. My friend had been talking about this place and I had been thinking about trying them out because of her. Just so happen I ended up getting a certificate to use here, so it was a great opportunity to finally try them out. I didn't know what to expect but upon walking in, it reminded me of Panera bread. When I walked in, it was a bit crowded. The place really didn't have an aroma, as most food places do but the place seemed clean upon my first look around. There was a pretty long line when I went in but the line went pretty fast. The people at the registers seem to work pretty fast. I ended up getting the 'Choose Two'. They always seem to have some sort of promotion going on, which is cool. I ended up getting a panini sandwich and salad. I was kind of afraid of getting a panini based on my past experience at other places but corner bakery seems to have a good handle on panini's. The panini I ordered was delicious and the salad wasn't bad. Overall I had an ok experience. I would go back here again, their prices seem a bit high but I guess they make up for it with their constant specials. My young daughter introduced me to Corner Bakery, and I just can't stay away. I usually go to the Oaklawn store. In my opinion, this store makes the best spinach crisp salad and turkey sandwiches. There is always a buy one gets one coupon, which customers receive when providing an email. The lemon cake and fudge brownie are to die for. I do not recommend and will not be ordering again for these reasons: food was sent out at 11am for a 12:30pm delivery time when its 20 degrees outside, one of the salads that I ordered wasn't included which I had ordered for non-meat eaters, they also ran out of chicken noodle soup, the bread on the sandwiches is soggy. Upon entering this establishment on 11/1/2023 at approximately 9:15am I was greeted in a friendly and pleasant manner by the cashier, Destiny. However, the visit took at turn with the "Manager" Michelle intervened in the transaction. When I first saw her when entered, she had a permanent frown on her face. If nothing else, I would think you should be happy that you woke up to a new day, some wasn't afforded that opportunity. When talking to me her tone was as if what she says goes, and there is no room for discussion. Michelle trying to convince me that she was relaying accurate information to me. I advised her that I did not originally place an order for my salad due to that menu not being displayed. I advised her that is when I asked Destiny for the salad menu so that I can place an order for a salad for my elderly mother. Michelle stated it an angry tone that the menu up is breakfast because it is breakfast time. This is not the issue Michelle. Michelle was trying to enforce a rule that was not stipulated on my email coupon. I originally came into this location to utilize my emailed coupon which has no bearing on my rewards account. In face, I did not have to give any information pertaining to my rewards account to utilize the emailed coupon. In addition, that coupon that was emailed has a code that the cashier would enter as one time use. When I decided to purchase (different transaction), a salad for my elderly mom, I asked Destiny if I may give her my rewards number to see if I have a $0.99 beverage available. Destiny happily checked and stated, yes, you do have a beverage of any kind for $0.99. Michelle then came over and intervened, speaking to Destiny as if I wasn't standing there, "She cannot use the beverage reward". That is when I addressed my concerns to Michelle regarding the email and the rewards. She then stated, "I am the Manager and that's how it works". I advised her that the coupon on my email had no bearing on my rewards account, as the coupon was NOT attached to my rewards. In fact, my rewards number was NOT used to retrieve the free sweet coupon. I asked her what was the number to corporate and she said, its on your receipt. That too was wrong information. There is no number for corporate listed on the receipt, only the website information. If you are going to have unprofessional, angry at the world, mad because it may be too early for them to be at work, as the face of your business and in a management position, I wish not to patronize the business. I have never had an experience such as this when I visited the Downtown and Oakbrook location. Hence, I can only assume that if you want GOOD, FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL service, visit those far out locations. This is not the location you would want to come to, especially if Michelle is on Management duty. Her management skills are less than SUBPAR! She definitely can benefit from more trainings, in addition to how to speak with customers. People need to understand that it's not what you say, it is how you say it. I used to love this Corner Bakery. My go- to is the Tomato Mozzarella sandwich. It used to have big hunks of mozzarella cheese and overflowed with Arugula. There was little of either on today's sandwich. The other order - pancakes - was missing the topping, which I didn't notice until I was home. Finally, the place was empty on a Saturday afternoon and I saw my order sitting there and everyone ignored me. I had to point and ask - is that my order? I'm unlikely to return. read more

It took 30 min for two small, mediocre sandwiches to come out (the place wasn't THAT busy). And another 30 to get my iced coffee. Which we had to remind them of 3x before they made it. But recently, we had a craving for cinnamon buns and it was the only place that had them. We were surprised how good everything was! My wife ordered the panini club sandwich. Whole sandwich, not a half sandwich and soup. She received one half sandwich with turkey, mayo, lettuce and tomato. No bacon. Bad gets worse. She sees bacon sticking out of the other half of the sandwich, takes a bite and discovers the second half of her sandwich is a rustic italian sandwich WITH bacon that doesn't belong on the rustic italian. Other than that service was adequate. A person brought a tray out from the kitchen area and delivered what was on it. The dining room was fairly busy but as usual was kept very cool. I know restaurants like to keep the dining rooms cool so as people don't get too comfortable, but this place could use the extra patrons sitting around and it is always too cold in there. I'm only giving 2 stars because I like Corner Bakery as a whole. I'd give zero stars to this location after tonight's visit. They weren't terribly busy yet there were quite a few tables with dirty dishes on them. We wanted a booth so we had to move the dirty dishes ourselves. We requested having our table wiped down... twice... and no one ever came to do it. Then our food arrived. We were given plastic utensils. When dining in, every Corner Bakery I've ever been to has served food with actual silverware. As we ate, I noticed tables still hadn't been bused. When we were leaving, there was a puddle of water near us. Also, someone had spilled a drink near the walkway by the front door... cup, liquid, ice... all on the floor being ignored. I haven't been to this location in well over a year. It certainly wasn't like this before. Based on tonight's visit, don't think I'll be by again any time soon. read more

Another one of the casual chain restaurants I like to go to...the food is great (their panini, soup, and desserts are fantastic) and the place in general is a great place to have a bite to eat. They are a bit pricey but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Tonight when I went I had a soup (tomato basil) and a half sandwich (club panini). They serve this with a pickle and kettle cooked potato chips. Add a drink to it and you have yourself a meal. To top it off I had a slice of pumpkin pound cake...although a bit dry, it was tasty. Definitely recommend this place for a break from the burger rut....and its a suitable alternative to Panera Bread (although this is a smaller "chain" than Panera is).
