So. Much. Fun. What a cool place! This is an absolute must try. The 50s music was infectious. The decor was just perfect. One half of the restaurant had a few rooms/areas each with a different theme. I wish I got more pictures. We were in a room that was playing clips of old movies and TV shows. The other half of the restaurant had an arcade. I only got a peek, but it looked like there was a little something for everyone there. The servers just perfectly played the part for this diner. Our server was named Chachi. Isn't that the coolest? He was great and took the time to answer questions about the menu. I wish we were celebrating a birthday because the birthday guests got a song (no, not the happy birthday song) and it looked like a blast. They also had a balloon guy that works on tips going around making balloon animals for the kids. I enjoyed the food, although it wasn't the real highlight. The potato skins were fantastic! Gone in 60 seconds. I got a chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun. It was good. I was just thrilled they had a gf bun. I got tater tots and they were a bit soggy. But I honestly don't care. It was all so well worth the experience. I hear the shakes and desserts are what's really good there, but I was just too full to try them. If you get the chance to go there, GO! I was not planning to say anything until I was looking at other reviews and not too long ago a guest also left review on the same topic to confirm what I thought. I'm genuinely shocked by what I experienced during my visit to Corvette Diner recently. I've been coming here with family for years--birthdays, celebrations, casual lunches--you name it. But after what I witnessed during my last visit, I don't feel safe or comfortable coming back. Our server Harvey was amazing and food was good per usual. unfortunately, none of that could outweigh the incredibly inappropriate behavior of the general manager on duty. I noticed her walking around the dining area, and immediately something seemed very off. Her name tag said "Donna." She wasn't just stumbling slightly--she was visibly disoriented, walking sideways at times, and slurring her words when she spoke to staff. And worst of all, when she passed our table, there was a very strong smell of alcohol on her. It was overwhelming. This is a FAMILY restaurant. There were kids everywhere. Parents. Tourists. And yet the general manager is wandering the restaurant drunk in full view of customers? I don't care if it was a one-time thing--this is unacceptable and absolutely crosses a line. I didn't want to cause a scene, but I also didn't feel comfortable staying any longer than I had to. It's one thing to have a bad meal or slow service. This was something entirely different. It made me feel uneasy, and frankly, unsafe. Who is really running the place if the person in charge can't even stay sober during their shift? I sincerely hope the owners or upper-level management see this and take action. There's no way I'll be returning unless I know this issue has been addressed. The staff and customers deserve better. This is a fun little cafe that caters to the whole family. They have a huge private lot that you can park in and and large dining area divided between a couple of sections. Their menu is packed with all of you diner favorites including burgers, salads, sandwiches, meatloaf, chicken and fish. They also have shakes, deserts and signature cocktails. There is also a full bar with seating here. On thing that this place has that I have not seen in any other dinner is a DJ. Not only do they play upbeat music throughout the place, they have someone actually playing it. There is a huge arcade here with tons of games that you can play to get tickets that you can redeem toward prizes. Some of the games include pinball, Dance, Dance, a pop-a shot, air hockey, and video games.The arcade could actually stand alone by itself. Off of the game room is a party room. that can be reserved to host a private event such as a birthday party, or shower. I saw a man going from table to table making ballon animals for kids, which I thought was pretty neat. He even stopped by my table and offered to make me one, which I declined. The staff here was not overly friendly. They did their job and did not go too much beyond that. They were not overly friendly and it took a while to get my order in. Some were warmer than others. I ordered the Macho Nacho Burger with onion rings. It took about 12 minutes for me to get my meal. It was pretty good. The burger was unique and fresh. It had a taco kind of feel. I haven't been here in over a decade. Of course it's a little different than the original location but still a fun time. I do miss when they'd throw bubble gum and straws at you. I remember my first time here, they curled my hair around a bunch of straws! Decent food and drinks. The Shirley Temple was delicious and came with a bunch of cherries. Good customer service. Fun and lively ambiance. However, it is very loud so it is difficult to engage in conversation with others at your table. Perfect for birthday parties, especially kids. What a fun place for a visit and party near pt loma which reminds me of a Mel's in LA on steroids. This place has a huge. The neon lights the outfits and staff all play that fun old role. It might be slightly cheesy but it's honestly just good old fun to feel like you are in a different time zone. They have normal soda and drinks and shakes and an ok appetizer and entire menu. They shine in their Sammie's and burgers. We split the buffalo chicken bleu which was ok for me but I'm not a fan of buffalo burgers or bleu cheese. The Brenda with bacon medium rare was essentially a flawless classic diner burger with great fries. I almost ordered up the meat and glad I didn't because I was stuffed. I probably could have cut it and been fine. They even take pics if you request and have a balloon man that the kids loved. A little extra pricey but at this point when you have fast food places charging 10$ just for a horrible whopper or Big Mac it was worth it. Bit of a wait but worth it. They won't seat you until entire party is there. We were split into two booths. 4 moms and a bunch of kids. We sat separately from the kids but next to them. Sherry was our server, she was the best. If you can request her, definitely recommend. Setting is an old school diner with funny/rude service. Sherry told us to just yell out her name if we need anything. The children enjoyed this very much. Don't forget to request the paper hats. We half jokingly said we were celebrating my gf's bach as our husbands were out of town for the bachelor party. Sherry made a special hat for the bachelorette complete with personalize comments and a train. This place is so much fun. We were staying in San Diego and I knew I wanted to visit Liberty Station. I have seen so many pics of everything there. I was flipping through Yelp reading reviews and stumbled upon this place and decided to try it out. As soon as we walked in, we were transported to the Happy Days era, the 50s. There was a vintage car behind hostess desk, there were disco balls, and a DJ spinning your favorite 50s tunes. People were dancing and overall just a joying their day. We got seated in the black light section which was pretty cool. It was a hippies dream come true. There were posters on the walls and ceilings which were pretty psychedelic. For our lunch, we ordered the Gigantic Chicken Strips with fries and the Breakfast at Tiffany's burger. There was nothing gigantic about the chicken strips but they were still good. But the burger, was a hit and I am glad we ordered it. Everything tasted fresh and the food was quality. I have my eye on a few other menu items so I am sure we will be back. read more

Where do I begin?? We popped in with a party of 5, we spent our 30 minute weight in the arcade, which was a blast! An employee was going around the arcade, giving us free plays on games as well so the money we spent in the arcade was worth it. When our table was called, it was perfect timing and we headed in to sit down in the really cool groovy decorated room. Decided to take our sailor here for lunch last week. We were actually searching for a place like Jack Rabbit Slims, from Pulp Fiction and decided to give it a go. We were seated immedately and the bar tender was our server. He took a few minutes to get to us, but we enjoyed the ambiance while waiting. We ordered our food, along with salads and the main course arrived before we were done with the salads. Further, I could not get the server's attention for refills, which I shouldn't have had to in the first place. They offered free postcard pictures and had a DeeJay. The music was excellent and they do take requests. The food was okay, but my meal had blackened chicken, which to me was way too spicy. Hands down one of my favorite kids dinner spots in San Diego! They don't take reservations and can have a long wait but there is plenty to do nearby- such as the large food cafeteria with some little shops to walk through or grab a drink and a small bite OR the arcade that's right inside!? They cater to all ages really. They play only music from the 50's and do take requests from the live DJ, then roughly every hour in the evenings primarily the staff will bust out in some dance moves! For kids they have a balloon artist who comes around each table to make something they request- if they forget- just ask a waiter and they'll come by! For birthday kids they also provide free delicious milkshakes+ and shoutout from the dj and staff who sing to you! It's such a vibe in this place. The food itself it good- maybe a 4 star? Friday evening 7pm The place is busy! But organized if that makes sense. You walk in and absolutely feel like you walked into an 80's dinner. We were sat in the room that dark and glow in the dark. I personally wasn't a fan of this room and rather have sat in the diner type rooms. The wait staff had big hair and crazy wigs. Their energy was top notch. Definitely in character. They had Someone walking around taking pictures of tables and a ballon animal guy walking around. The food was okay. Nothing I would jump up and down about. I order the Ruben and fries. My friend had their shrimp and spinach salad. We both really enjoyed it. The kids had the spaghetti and the burger. Decent port of food for the kids which was nice. The milkshakes are gigantic and definitely make sure you get one to share with the table. Staff was amazing and kind. But my daughter ordered sweet potato fries... only person in the group to order them. She made a funny face after eating some and didn't eat much after that. My daughter has special needs and struggles to communicate how she's feeling. By the next morning she was throwing up sweet potato fries and she had the runs. No flu or sickness this was from eating something icky. So sad to hate on this place because the staff was so sweet and before our food came they even danced and got my daughter up dancing with them. The restaurant is so busy that I doubt there's enough time to properly clean all surfaces between guests and I image hard to stay up on the quality of food and its freshness. In the 10+ years I've lived in San Diego, I've always seen and heard about Corvette Diner but never tried it. There's always a wait outside of the restaurant and my expectations were high. I mean, how can anyone mess up diner food? While the staff was great, the food and service didn't live up to the hype. Located inside Liberty Station, the parking is pretty bad, despite having a lot of spots. It's next to the Public Market so you'll have to compete with those people. And even coming early-ish for dinner, we still had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. The decor is pretty cool inside...we got seated in a semi-dark room with glow-in-the-dark paint on the walls. Unfortunately, the music was BLASTING, and it was so hard to even talk to each other. When we asked the workers if they could turn it down a bit, they said it was out of their control. Our waitress was great but man, was the service slow. I get why the food took awhile since there were a lot of people but our milkshakes came out so much later than the food. And it wasn't even cold at that point, it more tasted towards room temperature. So it seemed like they just forgot to bring it out to us. Garbage Platter: We had 7 people and though ordering two of these was a good idea. Trust me, if you're getting your own thing too, you don't need two of these! It comes with sliders, onion rings, potato skins, mozzarella wedges, chicken fingers, and french fries. The potato skins and onion rings were good and the chicken tenders slightly dry but that's fine. The sliders were trash, super dry and no flavor. The mozzarella wedges (not sticks??) had a really weird funky taste to it. I don't really recommend the platter, just stick to the potato skins and onion rings. Sid's Cowboy Western: It's a pretty big meal with the burger and tater tots. But the best part of this was just the tater tots. Very crispy! The burger itself...disappointing. The patty was dry and was only bearable because of the BBQ sauce. A burger shouldn't have to rely on the sauce to taste good. There were a lot of families here celebrating their kid's birthdays and what not. And with the arcade right next door, I can see it being pretty fun for children. But if you're trying to come here for good food and fast service, then you picked the wrong place. read more

Visited the Corvette Diner @ Liberty Station in San Diego CA. Free parking, but we had to circle the lot twice to find an open spot. This was our first time here. Group of 7 that included our three grandkids. 20 minute wait for a table where we were packed in tight. The restaurant didn't appear to be full, perhaps the delay being seated was to not overwhelm the kitchen staff. Waiter was A+ He knew the menu and answered all our questions and was very helpful and did his job. Food was prepared as requested and arrived within a reasonable time and was as advertised on the menu and was flavorful and filling. I paid by credit card and handed the waiter a 20% cash tip. When I got home, I realized the tip was already on the bill. My mistake, I should have looked at each line item. But ... I don't recall seeing on the menu that parties of X number of people the tip would automatically be added to the bill. Again, my bad for NOT checking the complete credit card slip before approving the charge. So the waiter got double tipped. OK Then I saw on the credit card copy a 5% convenience fee. OK I had to research what this charge is. OK, some restaurants are now passing to the customer the fee that the CC is charging them to process the transaction. OK. Long story. Sorry.
