We are new to Texas and wanted to try Cotton Patch Cafe. I was hesitant to try this restaurant based on some poor service reviews but the food sounded good so we took a chance. Let me begin by saying I'm not sure about other's experiences but we had a very good experience at the restaurant. Hailey was a great server! She had great knowledge of the food. We wanted to try everything and she was very accommodating with kindness the entire time. We will definitely be back. Meh,i really only came here for the fried green tomatoes as Potatoe Patch was too far. Chicken and dumplings was cold and my boyfriends steak was like a sailsbury steak. i ordered delivery, specifically a caesar salad with salmon for the protein. once it got here they totally skipped out on the $9 salmon.. i tried calling once but they picked up and then hung up the phone.. rude. i called again and this time the manager was pleasant, told me they were actually closed so i couldn't come pick up the fish and that i should keep the ticket and retrieve the salmon when they're open. i'm totally gonna do that because you're not about to rob me for $9 i ordered 30 min before closing, i get that it's annoying to serve customers before closing but i work hospitality too. there should be no excuse, and you should serve food right until closing. maybe double check orders next time, if it was something small i would've let it slide but this was the main part of the meal!! cmon read more

Little bitches work up here Saturday at close. They gave us some nasty ass salad and didn't give us our 6$ gallon of sweet tea. Every single person up there answered and hung up on us and acted like they couldn't hear us. I'll be reporting them to corporate! Very good fresh food. My shrimps were moist and tender, fish was fried perfectly . Salad and chicken dumplings soup was very tasty. My husband love their meatloaf and potato soup . Ashley was very nice and checking on us all the time. We were there for lunch on 10-31-2022 The only thing I would like to suggest , to add less salt to the fish batter and shrimp , also if you can add a couple of lemon wedges to the fish platter will help in case fish is a little too salty ( it might be me , I tend not too add too much salt to my food) . I really love the atmosphere and I have a favorite server I'm pretty sure her name is Victoria (Vicky) She is awesome and always takes care of my family. We eat here several days a week when we want to get away from eating fast food. They have specials every day of the week that are affordable and also kids eat free on certain days. My favorite meal as you can see is the ribeye. The chicken fried chicken is also a great deal and you get a big portion especially the kids size portions they are super big. Last time I was in there I was kind of disappointed because Vickys coworkers were being rude and disrespectful towards her and while guest were in the restaurant. A Tall blonde and a tall man had a ugly disrespectful attitude. They were loud and rude shouting out things about the company policy because Vicky was new and apparently she wasn't doing good in their eyes but Vicky your awesome and did a great respectful job while ignoring the rude comments. Your definitely a very professional and great waitress can't wait to see you next week. One a Serious note they never know who's in that restaurant and need to learn how to have better manners and Learn how to help a coworker instead of putting her down and trying to threaten her out loud in front of customers. But besides that I love the restaurant and the food is so good and has great flavor. I hesitate to post this review as I know everyone is adapting to the pandemic and my order was made around 8 p.m so perhaps my experience was an anomaly. Take out/delivery may not be their thing. We ordered two chicken fried steak dinners, one with white gravy and one with brown and the gravies both were abysmal. Thick, and gelatinous they never rendered into a liquid form even with reheating. It appeared they had sat on a container all day. Frankly the brown gravy resembled the lonely container of chocolate pudding someone left in the refrigerator uncovered a week ago. The steak was ok and the sides had that end of the day, scrape the bottom of the pan feel. And while best describes as mediocre both the sides and gravy were very small portions. Before the pandemic I visited the brick and mortar and had a decidedly better experience but takeout? Don't bother or try early in the day before everything congeals. read more

We come here quite a bit and enjoy the country cooking! Usually we have issues with service but today we were lucky enough to get Ashley as our server. She made our experience enjoyable and made sure we had everything we needed. The good quality was excellent today as well. The General Manager stopped by our table to check on us and asked how everything was going. We shared our past experience and told her we understood how hard to must be find good employees. I am updating this review because I thought I would try getting food delivered from Cotton Patch again on 11/29/2020. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Finger plate, Fried Bacon, Grilled Pork Chops, and Onion Rings and Black-Eyed peas. (I wasn't the only one eating) Pros: 1. The Chicken Fried Steak fingers were very good. They are always tender and have a good flavor. 2. Fried Bacon was very good and even crunchy hours later. 3. Grilled Pork Chops were very good and full of flavor and moist. 4, Onion Rings were very good. Good batter and sweet onions. Cons: 1. Only con was a small one. The Black-Eyed Peas could have been cooked longer to a little mushy stage, but their flavor was still good. They seemed to be out of a can and warmed up with bacon and more flavor added. read more

This was our 2nd time at the Spring, TX location. First time we had awesome service and good food. This time was different. The food was still good, but we received the worst service. The young server clearly was new and didn't have proper training. He sits us at our table takes our drink order and asked if we wanted an appetizer. We didn't order an appetizer. We assumed that like our first visit, we would be getting a basket of rolls while waiting for our food. No rolls were brought, even though other tables had rolls while waiting for their food. The package of silverware we were given apparently was supposed to have our napkin in it as well. My husband had one but, my package was missing the napkin. When the server brought our food I asked about the rolls, and had to ask for a napkin. While at our table server looked down at our plates and realized he forgot to ask us about gravy when he took our order. A few minutes later he comes back with a small container of gravy and two rolls, one for each of us I guess. We were about halfway finished with our food when he appears at our table asking if we wanted dessert. When we replied no, he laid our bill down. After we finished our food I noticed he had charged us for a pepsi $3.29 and a tea $3.29. We actually had a water and a tea. I had to get him to correct our bill to remove the pepsi we did not order. I also asked for a cup so I could take my tea with me. He comes back with the corrected check and a cup with no lid. I asked for a lid and he replied I will have to go to the back to get one. I'm not sure why I needed to know where he had to go to get it. There really is no excuse for the service received. They were not busy. There were only about 5 tables in the whole place being served by 3 servers. The servers were all huddled together near the kitchen talking. I don't appreciate her body language and her facial expressions and then hiding it with a fake apology and a fake have a nice day I could see right through it.. and she thought her free appetizer was going to fix everything! I rip that thing in half and left it with her she can have it! She should have taken it off my bill! I've been in customer service for seven years that's the right thing to do.. you don't just give somebody a free appetizer and a fake personality. I expect them to be happy with that.. Not what I expected, ordered a family meatloaf and several sides and got a half meatloaf cut like garbage. All the sides are half way empty if not more I haven't even tasted the food yet. They act like it was a donation and it has to be rationed. Don't order to go or you will not get what you pay for, but if you like getting bent over than this is the place for you. It was my first time, and I really enjoyed myself. My daughter and I atmosphere was friendly. The service was prompt, and the waiter was very helpful . I had the chicken fried steak and my daughter had chicken, fried chicken, garlic, potatoes, okra, a frozen , lemonade, drink . We went around one lunchtime and went straight to our tables. I can't wait to go again the yeast rolls were so delicious and fresh. This will easily be my home cooking spot! I can't wait to try the desserts. read more

We had dinner there on Nov.6 2023 and will not be going back. We ordered the pork medallions which had zero flavor and the mashed potatoes tasted like the instant kind from a box with no milk or butter added. Gravy tasted as though it was made with water from a mix with an unpleasant after-taste. We were also given cocktail size napkins to use as dinner napkins and iced tea was flavorless. We were not offered dessert or coffee and even had to ask for straws for our drinks. We've dined here a couple of​ times now and while there have been a few hiccups and issues with an order the ​(first experience was via delivery from Door Dash), it's nothing worth dismissing the restaurant in its entirety, although - I've noticed here lately the service is starting to go down-hill. No crayons, spotty silverware, and really, REALLY slow service - without even being super busy. The first couple of times were great. The food was good, was piping hot, and definitely tasted "fresh." The last two times, we've had to repeatedly send back food for either being a) undercooked or b) coming out cold since service was quite slow on those visits. I really, really want to like this place. Working around the Spring area, good food and good service is kind of hard to find. This place is a bit of a drive for me but for good food and service, I'm willing, especially with only a hour for lunch. My coworkers and I tried this place three times and today will be last time we go there for lunch. With only a few tables in the restaurant, I was surprised that we had to wait to be seated. Service was slow and it took us about 20 mins to finally have our order placed. After another 20-30 mins, I've notify our waitress to have our food packed for to go because we have to leave. She told us the food was coming out and she would bring us boxed to pack them ourselves. After we got our food and we were waiting for our check, it took so long that we were able to finish majority of our food. At no point the servicer was ever apologetic with the situation. Like I said in the beginning, I really, really want to like this place. All the food that I have tried, it was awesome. But the service, was very lack luster. If you have time to kill, by all means, go there to eat. Food is excellent. But if you don't, find somewhere else. read more

This place was one of our favorites and since the Covid outbreak we have not been back, so we decided to give it a go on Saturday the 7th of December, the young lady that served us was naive to say the least, not very well trained and she said she was there a year when we asked her how long she was working at this place. ALSO... The restaurant was not busy it was 3PM. First, problem they switched from Coke Products to Pepsi, so this is a showstopper, so its water for the wife. Next, I said I can get through a diet Pepsi and asked her to put a lime in the Pepsi. She said they do not offer limes, but she had lemons. I pointed out that they have a full bar so how can there be no limes? She replied we have limes but not cut up, we're not that type of bar. So, if someone orders a drink from the bar that requires a lime what do you do? She said she would have to go to the walk-in refrigerator & get one. She then asked do you want me to do that, it will take some time though. You can't make this up, she was that simple. I said no I can deal with no lime. When the rolls came we had no silverware to butter the rolls. After asking twice and watching her pass us by, we realized there another server behind us that was doing the napkin folding thing (who had to hear us) with the silverware inside, but we waited to see how long it was going to take for her to realize we still had no silverware. BTW the rolls were fresh & hot when we finally got them. NEXT, we order the 23-dollar 2-fer special & asked a few questions, but she replied that this was new & did not know much about it when confronted with other menu questions saying "The Menu was new" she was not that familiar with it and the new items. I asked her about the Fish & Chips & she replied that they no longer offer that item, my favorite. So, you see where this is going. We were about ready to leave but hung in there to see if the quality of the food was going to make up for bad management by the GM of this location. Her not being familiar with the menu is whose fault? BTW The Maple Chicken was grilled chicken with a maple sauce poured over it & it was not bad to be honest. The rice & fries were cold & the fries were so soggy I left most, not palatable. We left her 6 bucks' cash on a 28.00 tab; about 20% (We felt pity for the young lady; felt that the inexperience after a year doomed her to this place or maybe Burger King) after all she was pleasant. Needless to say, we will not be going back at the moment, there is no value for the money, a poorly trained staff and most important... no Coke Products!!! read more

*UPDATE* so I have come back to Cotton Patch a couple of time. The last two times I ordered the Cobb salad. The first time they forgot the avocado. Not a huge deal but getting something to go and it being wrong is disappointing. The second time I went back I ordered the Cobb salad again. Only this time I was completely grossed out! It was like they cleaned out the grease trap to get my bacon. I could not believe they would serve that to someone. I have been waiting for a good comfort food restaurant in this area. We finally have one. My boyfriend and I went during their "soft opening" service was smooth as butter. We arrived at 7:15 prime dinner time and they're new and only had to wait 30 minutes. We ordered the small fried green tomatoes to start. The tomatoes were cut nice and thick, the batter was a perfect crisp and not over done so that you could enjoy the taste of the tomato. I ordered the veggies plate (3 veggies and a side salad). Loved the salad was nice and cold, homemade croutons, diced tomatoes and cucumber. Mega bonus their ranch is awesome! I also got the baked squash that reminded me of my family's recipe, broccoli cheese rice casserole and the mashed potatoes. Everything was really good and still had plenty to bring home. I've ordered by Uber the first time snd it was very good , better then I expected. 2nd order was in person and it was just as good. 3rd order was in person but I was not satisfied with the portion that was given on a $9 item. We decided to try this place after church because we had heard they have southern cooking. Well, if you are looking to raise your blood pressure, this is it! Brought my family here for dinner after having a great first visit. Bad idea! Service was horrible, 2 tables were seated after we placed our order, and both had food come out before us! Asked for the manager, and she stopped at the 2 tables to check on them before coming to ask me "what's going on tonight?" After explaining the situation she advised our order was put in wrong, but had no sense of empathy, didn't take ownership of the issue, or even apologize. As we were leaving, 3 older white men did a dine and dash, and the manager had the nerve to ask us did we see where those guys went or wha car they were in! Absolutely the worst experience. If it was possible for negative stars, they earned it tonight. Ordered 3 Togo meals, waited for a hour before received our food. We had the pleasure of listening to the manager complain about all of the customers that came in to order the entire time of our wait. When we finally got our food, we were missing a meal, and the meals that we did receive were incorrect and there were no lids on any of the butters or dressing. 10/10 do NOT recommend. It was that bad. * No host to greet party, once available attempted to seat a party of 5 at a square 4 top table and were bothered we wanted more room to eat. * Salads came with pasta sauce smeared on the bottom of the bowls, as if they'd been sitting on dirty counters. * Food ordered consisted of a burger, steak, kids chicken and fish basket. This took 30 min to arrive and the waiter stated it was bc of the fries. * Med rare steak ordered arrived medium well and was sent back * Asked to sub hush puppies as opposed to a baked potato, which arrived with exactly 2 hush puppies, at a $2 up charge... $1 per hush puppy?? To replace a fully loaded baked potato??? * Refills never offered and asked for 3 times at which tea came for portion of party with a quarter inch of sugar settled at the bottom of glasses. Daughter and I never received our refills. * Gravy requested never came the entirety of meal * Was told the dishwasher was broke so everyone was given plastic silverware until the waiter realized I had a steak coming so he brought me one of the knives the chefs use in the kitchen, which then prompted the manager to come tell me he should've never brought it, but still told me to keep it. There were other minor issues, but overall the meal was a complete catastrophe, the restaurant is not in operational shape to be hosting crowds (with the bar freezer and dishwasher both out per our waiter) and even great waiters are struggling in this environment with limited control over the food or appliances needed to adequately service guests. read more
