This was a delicious place to stop and glad someone from the local Elks club told us about the restaurant. The waitress Marcie was perfect, very friendly and attentive. The thick bbq sauce like a Sweet Baby Ray's style was great on the bbq chicken and ribs. The mashed with white gravy and mac and cheese were perfect. And we enjoyed the hush puppies even though we hate them but Marcie told us to try them and my wife and I agreed they were better then our first hushpuppy experience elsewhere. read more

The BBQ is good here but my review is for the pork tenderloin biscuit. I tried this based on a locals suggestion. The price seemed slightly more than most breakfast biscuits until I opened my purchase. The biscuits are large and the tenderloin hangs off both sides. It's an incredible value in terms of portion size. The tenderloin is tender and fried to perfection. The food is consistent on every visit. The perfect drink with this is their sweet tea. It is not overly sweet and always hits the spot. The only complaint is the large sweet tea is not nearly large enough....lol. Great restaurant and great service. These are the hardest reviews for me, and the most disappointing. If a place's food is horrible, then it just is. But when the food is really good, but the service makes you loathe going there, that's a conundrum. So, it's a snow day. I stop in for a to go order of a pound of 'cue. There are two couples seated and me , standing all alone at the counter. One young lady is on the phone taking a pickup order. Four others are standing around chatting with each other. I can make out another 5 employees in the back. So the ratio is 5 customers to (at least) 10 ee's. I stand there and stand there and stand there. I am not acknowledged at all. Girl on the phone takes two more pickup orders while I'm standing right in front of her with cash in my pocket. The other sorority sisters are still oblivious to anything other than their Diego war stories about 10" deep snow. So, I step back from the counter and ask pretty loudly, "Is there anyone here who would like to take an order from a guy who wants to buy some barbecue?" (Yeah, I'll be that guy if you make me). The response from the peanut gallery was "Just one minute, sir, we're very busy" as she disappeared to the kitchen. Phone girl finally took my order, I think she was embarrassed at the rest who just wanted to chat. I asked for a mix of inside/outside meat (or "brown", as they seem to call it here in NC). Got my order, got home, not a speck of charred outside meat in the entire container. Spite? Inattention? Kitchen ignoring the order? I dunno, but one of those experiences that just makes you swear you'll never go back. Ask for bbq sauce if you need more, don't be like this girl and squirt that hot sauce all over thinking it's thinned sauce because you will set your tongue on fire like I did. I love Country Barbeque and frequent the other locations often. This was my first time at this location and I was not impressed. The staff were not friendly at all, my food was cold when it came out and the waitress checked on every table but mine multiple times. I finally asked for a refill and she said to hold on, and still never came over. She had to pass my table to get to the others since mine was in the middle of the restaurant and she ignored us the entire time. If you want good food and a good experience, I suggest going to the location on Wendover. The staff are way nicer and the food actually comes out hot and you won't be waiting your entire dining experience for a refill on your drink that was filled up with ice in the first place. read more

This review is for the NEW place on North Main Street in High Point!! This restaurant is clean, wide open, friendly, modern atmosphere. The layout is great. You step to the counter and order your food, get a number sign, have a seat and in a short time your food arrives at your table. The BBQ is not to soaky, not to dry, just right. Fries were crisp, but not hard. BBQ slaw: delicious. Hush Puppies just right. Tea: just right ( not too sweet). keep up the good quality and THIS location will do great, even with Carter Brothers 1/2 mile away. Been all over SE eating BBQ. It's different from one region to the next. Even western NC and eastern NC are different. Some BBQ is wet & some is dry. So I dropped in not having any positive expectations I was just wanting to fill void. When waitress stated the chicken had sauce on it I felt this was different for Carolina BBQ. However, when it came out, it was vinegar based & not the sweet tomato based I wanted. But let me tell you, this was the BEST bbq I've ever had in Carolina's. Tender juicy chicken with some kick to their sauce. And the chopped pork was really good as well. Fries were hot & delicious Only complaint was the cole slaw was a little on sweet side. We flew in for the afternoon and we asked the counter agent at the local FBO for any recommendations on BBQ food in the area. This was her first recommendation and it was well worth going! The food was great and so was the service! The prices are also super reasonable as well. Two of us ate for under $20 with a good amount of food. Best Breakfast in Northern High Point! Great specials! You won't be disappointed, or hungry.

We were looking for someplace different to go and realized we hadn't been here in quite a while. I also realized that I had not done a review of this location, so off we were. We went about 6:00 pm on Saturday evening (1/21/17), which was a chilly and rainy evening, and when we arrived it was a very sparse crowd and figured the weather was the reason. But after we were seated the crowds started to come in a steady, but not crowded, flow so that by the time we left the place was about 3/4 full. As we looked over the menu we had a little trouble deciding but our server, Mariana T, was very patient with us. Mary finally decided on the Chopped BBQ Plate and since I couldn't make up my mind, I went with the 3 Meat Combo with Chopped Pork, BBQ Chicken, and Pork Ribs. Both plates came with Hushpuppies. As sides we both went with French Fries and Coleslaw, however, Mary went with the red slaw and I, remembering my Yankee roots, went with the white slaw. Next time I will go with the red slaw. Being that no one had placed an order recently before us, the wait time was only the time it took to cook the fries and we had our meals. As we tasted the food, we were both glad we decided to come here for dinner. Mary did make one comment though when our plates arrived. She exclaimed, "Wow, that's a lot of food!" And it was. I was able to finish my plate, and even help Mary with her hushpuppies. But she couldn't finish her fries or slaw, though the Chopped BBQ was gone. And throughout the time we were there, Mariana T kept an eye on my glass of Tea and kept it full. And, when appropriate, inquired if there was anything else that we needed. When I arrived, I had plans to have the Banana Pudding for dessert, but since I followed those ingrained childhood rules of finishing everything on my plate, I passed on this trip. But made plans for the next trip of just going for the 2-meat platter to save room for dessert. And it won't be as long a time spell in between visits. read more

I think I found the worst barbecue spot in Greensboro area. My ribs were straight out of the refrigerator and still cold and dried out. I couldn't cut through them with the plastic knife and what I did attempt to eat was like chewing wood. It wasn't memorable; same today. The staff was extremely friendly & the BBQ was ready instantly. I really liked the layout of the restaurant. The BBQ wasn't bad, just not great. The Q was a little dry & without the smokey flavor that defines NC BBQ. It had sweet flavor. There was little or no sauce on the meat. It wasn't a true Lexington style or Eastern style. I've only been to this location maybe 3 times, the last time was a couple years ago. I've never dined inside, always through the drive-thru for one of those Country BBQ monster biscuits at breakfast. The breakfast biscuits here are awesome and gigantic just like the Wendover Ave location. The tenderloin is the superstar, but you can't go wrong with whatever kind of biscuit you get. The T'loin or Ham, Egg & Cheese are my go-to favorites at either Country BBQ...so I was pretty stoked when a co-worker stopped here the other morning and rolled into the office with a sack full of tenderloin biscuits. Swung thru here to grab a bbq sandwich for lunch, but got a roast pork sandwich splashed with bbq sauce instead. Should have known when I saw no wood, but I know they have another spot, so I thought maybe they made it there like Stamey's. No such luck, awful "bbq" sandwich. NC should pass a law banning using the word "barbecue" for roast pork, it's false advertising at a minimum and fraud really. I used to love coming to Country Barbeque, growing up in Greensboro. My dad would take me to the one off of Wendover Road, when I was younger. However, while visiting home, my Dad took me to the one in High Point. The food was really good, and tasted as I remembered. Also, it was the day before Fourth of July and it was really busy, and the waitstaff was able to handle the crowd! Our waitress was, Crystal and she was excellent! She was all over the place serving the crowd! I have to give her major kudos because, she was really a trooper! I know that it had to be tough, but she kept her cool and was pleasant and friendly! I also, loved the support of the other waitstaff. They worked together to serve each other's customers and no one (customers) was upset or complained! Everyone was patient, and that was awesome! They're portions are nice size, and I was full! I will definitely return when I come home and I highly recommend this restaurant, for NC style BBQ! read more

I have never seen a bbq restaurant with a drive-thru before. I ordered their 2 meat create your own plate option. I opted for the ribs, which they have been recognized for, and the chopped pork bbq. I chose mac & cheese and sweet potatoes for my sides. I also grabbed some peach cobbler for dessert. Let me start by saying that the portion sizes are generous. The ribs were very tender and the chopped bbq was very flavorful. I couldn't eat it all and I can usually put away a good amount. I hit the drive through here on a regular basis. Generally speaking I love the food. But dang, the drive through order is messed up one out of every three visits. I hate my first review to be negative but the fact is this place isn't good; and this is after multiple visits because my coworkers love the place The people are generally friendly. You can normally get in and out pretty quick. Drinks stay filled, etc. I'm not going to bash the business at all The food, to be clear, is NOT barbecue. As another reviewer stated, getting the pork, you will not get a smokey flavor in the meat nor will the meat be moist. Initially I thought maybe they smoked it to a safe temperature but not up to the temps needed to really get flavor and break down the connective tissues. The fact is the pork is dry, tough and lacking flavor. Like the other reviewer said, it seems most likely they just roast pork and call it BBQ because it's pulled or chopped afterward and sauced The chicken is very white on the inside. Poultry tends to turn pink when smoked, so again, this is just roasted meat with some salt, pepper and sauce If you want something quick and don't mind basic roasted food, have at it. Just ate here for the first time. Loved it. Loved that the Barbecue was "Fresh". Didn't taste reheated like other places. We loved that the pork didn't have Barbeque Sauce mixed in it. To start this review I will tell you that I was in the area and hungry around 8pm, this place closes at 9pm so I thought this would be quiet and relaxing while filling up at the same time. There was hardly anyone inside the restaurant, staff or patrons which should have been a sign. I couldn't sit down because all the tables were dirty and sticky and needed wiping down. I had to find someone to wipe my table down and she literally wiped all the debris into the seat.... This person was also my waitress. That is my only complaint about the waitress, the service was actually great.....I just hate she has to serve a bad product. I ordered a 1/4 chicken (White meat) and FF. When it came out the chicken looked as if it had been sitting all day long. SO DRY! I might have gotten 10 FF on my plate. The amount and taste of the food was ridiculous.
