Spent a few nights here on a solo trip. The room had everything I needed and the location was perfect to get around. You could easily walk on or hop on public transportation. Staff was super helpful and the gentleman at the front desk (can't remember his name but it started with a J) had some good local recommendations. As a Platinum Elite member, I expected far better treatment than what I received. My reservation was canceled before I even arrived, without any warning or attempt to contact me. I was told there was no credit card on file, which simply wasn't true. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue, the hotel refused to honor my original reservation rate. It became very clear that because demand was high, the hotel chose to cancel my reservation so they could resell the room at a higher price. That is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of integrity and respect for loyal Marriott members. After reading other reviews, I realized this is not an isolated incident. It appears multiple guests have experienced similar situations under the management of Justin McToal, which makes this seem like a recurring pattern rather than an honest mistake. Loyalty should mean something. Being a Platinum Elite member and being treated this way is incredibly disappointing. I would strongly caution anyone booking here to double-check their reservation because it seems your room is only guaranteed until the hotel decides it can make more money by giving it to someone else. read more

We had an absolutely lovely day in Boston and this hotel made a big contribution to that. We had an appointment in Boston to get vaccines for an upcoming trip but classically, it was cancelled due to weather. We didn't have much time to reschedule so we booked it for the morning that concludes our three-consecutive-night-shift working stretch. Instead of schlepping to and from Boston back to the Worcester area, we decided to just book a hotel to crash after our appointment. Once our appointment was complete, we arrived to check in at around 11am. Our room was ready, which was very much appreciated. I will say that the person at the desk was not nice or welcoming in any way shape or form. I walked up to the desk and said, "checking in" followed by spelling out my last name. She then, rudely, said "WHAT'S THE LAST NAME?" as if she wasn't inconveniencing me by having me repeat myself. It would be completely fine if she didn't hear, but she didn't have to be a bitch. I'm sure this doesn't come as a surprise but she definitely didn't suck my D at all about my loyalty status with Marriott. The building ostensibly is an old, charming structure. There is just one small elevator but fit the two of us and our carry on, one-night-only belongings just fine. If I was going for a weekend or more with my packing history, we may have had some issues. The room was absolutely stunning. It was on the bigger side and the windows provided a beautiful view of the city and provided a ton of natural light. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and nice-sized. The shower, once I figured out how to use the faucet, was hot with a nice pressure. The towels were soft. The bed was, literally, one of the softest and most heavenly beds I have ever slept in. I actually woke up in the middle of my sleep with terrible anxiety and had difficulty falling back to sleep but once I focused on how comfortable I was, I immediately passed back out. Other than the sound of our neighbor entering and leaving a few times, the room was very quiet. Regarding the climate control, we both became pretty warm during our slumber. I went to adjust the temperature and saw that the temperature of the room, 73, was much higher than the temperature already selected, 65, and I gave up all hope of having a cooler room. Either I'm retarded or the AC doesn't work properly. We checked out shortly after midnight and there was nobody at the desk. It would have been nice to be able to verbalize that I was checking out, but I left the keys at the desk and received a receipt email by 1am. I would definitely stay here again and hope they have a different concierge and a room with working AC. read more

Located in a very nice location in Boston. Next to the Boston Public Library, very upscale shopping areas, super market, coffee stores, great food and local rail transportation. Near a Marriott, Westin and Copley Hotel. Seemed like a safe area. The Courtyard is an older hotel. Very small and cozy. Easy to get to the rooms and nice friendly staff. Easy to get in and out of the Hotel. Main issue: Room needed remodeling. Built in furniture was falling apart and peeling. Original shower caulk was dirty and moldy, with attempt to cover the mold with new cosmetic caulking. The new cosmetic caulking that was peeling off and house keeping just pushed it back in place. After using the shower the cosmetic caulking just peeled off again, exposing the mold. Note: rooms were not service daily. Would recommend that the room be taken out of service and remodeled. read more

I made the reservations online for a 4-night college visit/moving my son into the dorm. I was not sure what to expect for $105/night in Copley Square. I was not disappointed, as the hotel being in an older building was upgraded appropriately and nicely. We were upgraded to a double room and must admit the room was a nice size, clean and sparkling bathroom. There is a coffee maker in each room as well. Each room is stocked with all necessities. The staff was super friendly, accommodating, remembered when I was leaving and expected to see me at night retiring, engaging with conversation about my day and if I asked for anything (extra teabag), they would be so responsive. Honestly, being so close to Prudential Center and shopping mall and being centrally located, you cannot go wrong by staying here during your visit to Boston. read more

A lovely place, in a great location. Not too large, nice bathroom amenities (I appreciated the shoe shine sponge), and importantly everything was straightforward and simple. Comfortable bed, good desk to work at, enough towels, nice room darkening shades, etc. And the computer & printer. A small thing but I was grateful that getting online and printing a shipping label was completely no hassle. The really good part was the staff. Both the Saturday evening and Sunday morning receptionists were friendly, helpful, and engaging. They make you feel welcome. Also of course the location is great. The heart of Boylston and Newbury Streets literally 5 minutes away. It's a neat historic building too. All in all a great choice for a Back Bay Boston stay. read more

The Sox won the World Series, so I had to visit my favorite city to take part in the parade. Within one minute of hearing the parade date confirmation, I made sure to book this hotel on my SPG app. I know Boston well, and while I didn't specifically remember this hotel, I knew the location (a block from Boylston and less than five minutes to The Copley mall and the Pru, so I knew it was the perfect location. Google maps had a hard time getting here - you have been warned. It's on Exeter Street next to the side of the library and across from Luke's lobster. If you know where the Lenox is, you can find this hotel. They offer valet parking, but we choose to self-park, and that's across the street in the Prudential parking garage. $42 will cover you for up to 24-hours, not too expensive for an overnight in Boston. The receptionist was lovely and got us a room on the 10th floor, which is also the top. The room was massive. Two full/queen beds with a ton of space and a decent view of the city. You can adjust the temperature down to 60 on your own - score! There are a ton of outlets that accommodated all of my portable chargers, the tv is a decent size, and the desk was a bonus. I didn't hear a sound all night from other rooms or any hallway noise, either the entire floor was empty, or the walls are well-insulated. The bathroom is also large with enough counter space, and the shower temperature and pressure are just right. Ice machines aren't on every floor but were easy to locate after we called the front desk. I spent 20 hours in this hotel and enjoyed it. The building has a lot of history, and I loved the book in the room explaining the building's past and restoration throughout the years. If I ever traveled back up to this area of Boston, I would stay here again. read more

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Copley Square for the Boston Marathon. It was close to the finish line, as well as to the Hynes Convention Center for packet pick up, and to many restaurants and shops. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but they did have a coffee maker in the room. There was a small dining area on the main level in an area with a counter where you can order coffee and a few menu items. The front desk people were nice and the room was clean. Due to Covid, there was no daily housekeeping service, which was understandable. Star Market is a short walk for any food/beverages you might need. The location is the best feature, especially if you're running the marathon! read more

Great location, very close to the Back Bay shops and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room 305 with 2 queens was more spacious than the king in 306 so I would recommend that floor plan. The bath shower in rm 306 really needed a good scrubbing to the grouting but other than that, both rooms were clean. read more

we had a lovely stay here last week. All the staff were so accommodating and friendly, from supplying extra pillows to giving helpful suggestions about restaurants. And everyone had a cheerful smile and welcome for us. Our room was spacious, with a large walk in shower and a rather nice view. Everything was very clean. The location is perfect for all the usual sightseeing destinations, and there are very good restaurants nearby on Boylston and Newburyport streets. This was a great hotel close to several other large hotels. I stayed here for an event I was attending at the Westin across the street from this hotel. The hotel room was clean and spacious. I was worried that we would hear a lot of noise but I slept fine. The staff was very nice and offered me recommendations around the area since I had never been here before. They always greeted me when I came and went and offered an umbrella to take when it was raining. They were even nice enough to ship me my electric toothbrush that I left at check out. There is no on-site parking, but you can park at the Copley Place Mall across the street for 40 dollars per day. I would definitely stay here again as I plan on coming back to Boston. read more

Stayed at the Courtyard for a conference. I did not expect much knowing how hotels near conference centers are like factories. I was pleasantly surprised when we were warmly greeted and were offered a bottle of water. Our check in process what quick and easy. I got a king room and it was spacious, efficient, and there even was a mini fridge in the room! I had my room cleaned during my stay and the staff did a wonderful job. An adorable lamb name Exeter (#exterthesheep)was sitting on my bed with a card inviting me to complete a scavenger hunt. If you complete it, you get to keep him! If you don't have time but want him, you can purchase him for $20. I thought it was so fun and most of the attractions were within walking distance or a quick T ride away. The hotel was super close to the convention center and Back Bay Amtrak stop. There are also plenty of food options close by. Make sure to check your bill to verify all charges, I was charged for a bottle of Life Water ($5 a bottle and they have one in the bathroom and one by the coffee machine) and Exeter the Sheep. I take it that the cleaning lady saw my liter bottle of Poland Spring in the recycling and thought it was one of the waters provided by Courtyard and charged me. The front desk person also charged for me Exeter even though I completed the scavenger hunt and it was featured on the instastories. A quick call, because I did not take my own advice, got all the charges taken off. If I visit Boston again, I would stay at the Courtyard Copley again. read more

We had an excellent stay here. Our room was small but very clean. We did find ourselves bumping into stuff, seriously, the room was tiny. But the location is great, right by shopping an only a couple blocks from the subway station. We were really impressed with the customer service. They always greeted us as we came and went. We were offered an umbrella to take when it was raining. The coolest part was when someone at the front desk observed my toddler patiently waiting while my husband ran back to the room to get something. She was just chilling, behaving herself. I'm not sure if that is an anomaly here or she just charmed the front desk woman, but next thing I know, she asks us how long we are staying (3 days) and produces SIX breakfast vouchers so Lizzie can "pay" for breakfast for us the next two mornings. The woman told her that she earned them by being such a polite kid. Aw!!! The restaurant is pretty limited in its choices. But the service more than makes up for it. The first day, I ordered iced tea and mentioned I don't care for coffee. The second day, as soon as he saw me, our server from the day before started making a pitcher of tea! He also asked if we wanted the same breakfast as the day before or something new. Wow. He also let us turn the TV from the news to cartoons. I think Lizzie had an even better stay than we did! read more

If you peruse some of the poor reviews about this hotel, you will find a trend with the horrific customer service offered by their staff. My experience with this hotel has been a headache as they incorrectly charge me TWICE for a one night stay on separate credit cards. Despite my attempts to resolve this issue with their staff, I have been given the run-around and my calls have been postponed. Essentially all has been done on their part to avoid fixing the charges. BEWARE of this hotel, and if you are brave enough to book it, ask for a PRINTED RECEIPT upon checkout. Don't let them tell you, "you're all set" and have you leave unsuspectingly as I did, only to later realize I have been wrongfully charged and have yet to be refunded. Update: nearly 2 weeks later, I finally got refunded on the incorrect charge. It took countless phone calls and emails (I eventually had to seek help from the overarching Marriott company) to help resolve a simple billing error. The reply I received today from the hotel associate at Courtyard was one sentence: "The corrections have been made to the payment info and a your card was refunded by the hotel." No apologies, no "thanks for your patience", no attempt to save any kind of face in response to my lengthy complaint. What a joke. They hold absolutely no value in customer satisfaction. In sum, my experience with this hotel has been unnecessarily painful and it is unfortunate to confirm the poor experiences of others that were shared in the reviews. read more

Comfortable rooms, great location but... Not the best hospitality. We were 1 of 2 bachelor parties, and they kept getting our parties confused. People from the other bachelor party entered 2 of the rooms reserved while we were sleeping twice, (I assumed the dudes drunkenly forgot their keys and the front desk just issued them new ones), and they had the other party's email address listed on my invoice. Also, we had 1 noise complaint on 1 room, and they charged us a $100 fee. Not just for this one room, but for ALL 4 ROOMS WHICH WERE ALL ON SEPARATE FLOORS. I tried to handle this issue calmly with the front desk reps, and all they did was give me the manager's email address. I have had great experiences with Courtyard, and I won't let one bad experience completely tarnish an otherwise great reputation, but it's certainly a step backwards. read more

On a recent quickie getaway to Boston for a weekend, I needed to find a hotel room and was a bit dismayed to see that Copley Square hotel rooms could go as high as $400+ a night (matching Manhattan rates!). When Priceline offered a deal for $129/night, I jumped on it and wound up at the Courtyard Boston Copley Square. Set up in a gigantic older building in the area, the hotel has a gorgeous exterior. It has impressive towers, moldings and detailing. The interior is much more modern and takes most of its design cues from other Marriots. Inside it's a much smaller space and I would call this a much reduced down version of other bigger Marriots. They have a nice lounge area and small restaurant on the first floor. They provide free coffee and tea in the mornings and then iced tea and water in the afternoon. Much to my surprise the hotel actually provided free wired and wireless internet which managed to give me good speed on both my iPad and laptop at the same time. We stayed on the second floor in a room off in a corner. The room itself is probably the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, but like the lobby it has a modern decor, clean lines, bold patterns on the walls and new-ish furniture. The King Sized bed was really comfortable and I slept wonderfully on it. They carried Paul Mitchell brad shampoo and conditioner with some nice smelling lotion to go along with it. The room was clean and room service did a great job making the room welcoming and comfortable. The customer service was really friendly and welcoming. For the rate we got and the gorgeous area nearby it made this stay more than worth it. This is not a hotel to stay in all day, it's a good place to rest, hang up your hat and sleep while focusing on touring around the area. read more

This hotel is just large enough to be perfect, just small enough to be family. Clean, comfortable and very convenient to all of the Back Bay. We travel the Mass Pike to get her, from the Hudson Valley. The road is easy to drive, and at Exit 22 we get off and 3 blocks later our car is being parked. You can't ask for more. One small point, after the clean rooms and all that, is that the breakfast here is outstanding. read more

No concierge lounge for Platinum members and the gym contained 2 treadmills and a small amount of free weights. Location was decent, located near Boylston street and next to Shaw's grocery market. This is the first review I've ever done BEFORE my experience with a buisness. I am beside my self so help me. We decided to splurge and stay the night at Marriot Copley for our anniversary. I booked online and called to ask if we could park early and explore before our 4pm check in. The very polite young man who answered the call explained the parking is $52 or $62 a NIGHT!!! This hotel offers no free parking for hotel guests. He also said that even the employees are forced to pay the rate as well. I am a Marriot Bonvoy member and called to complain but the wait time is over 30min(at leat the computer told me that) and who has time for that? BE AWARE and BEWARE. What a scam. Had a room issue regarding electrical- bathroom light not working. Contacted the front desk, spoke to a rude desk clerk Jason Davis - extremely unprofessional and didn't know the "Spirit To Serve" guidelines (2 1/2 year employee). Asked to speak with his boss - Justin McToal and was told that he arrived but was getting dressed in his office and never heard back from him - Jason didn't leave message with him and Justin never contacted us. To be honest, as both a business and vacation traveler I am choosing to not move away from Marriott based on my stay at the Boston Copley Square Courtyard Marriott. It's the little things that matter like communicating charges on bill the first time around. Or asking customers questions versus surprising them with charges after their stay as what happened to me. And too boot, I left a shirt in the hanging which no one informed me of in any communications are had any idea as to what I was talking about when I called back. Petty? Maybe. Update: Since staying here, I have had a fraudulent reservation booked for a hotel in a completely different state. Marriott advised changing my password, which I did. Now, I have 2 fraudulent charges from a Marriott in Berlin on my credit card. No coincidence that all of this is happening for the first time in my Marriott career after such a horrible experience with this manager/property.. Not shocked at all if management here had something to do with my information suddenly being used in two different ways.... If you enjoy identity theft and casual $400 fraudulent charges - then boy, is this the place for you. This place is a nightmare as is the manager, Mr. McToal. STAY AWAY, I repeat, stay away from this property. I am a titanium elite Marriott guest with around 400 lifetime nights. I checked in and got to my room, and noticed the dated, ugly rooms for starters with very poor bathroom amenities. If only that was all. I was then called by the front desk AFTER checking in and arriving to my room that I had to produce a valid ID to prove my rate or else I had to pay the full rate. Again, AFTER I had already checked in. The manager, Mr. McToal, and staff here are very unfriendly, if not downright rude. Charged a full nights stay even though the hotel cancelled the stay I had because I did not have an ID that specified my company for the rate I am staying at. I have stayed at Boston Marriott Long Wharf, AC Hotel Downtown Boston, AC Hotel North Boston, Courtyard North Station all in Boston, with the same rate, without issue. I arrive at 10 pm local time to the courtyard Copley square to be told that I HAVE to pay the full rate ($700 after taxes) or else I could not stay there. This is being told to someone who has spent over $100,000 USD at Marriott's in the past 5 years. Never seen such rude management with 0 compassion or common sense. I will likely never stay at another courtyard again if I can avoid it. I have cancelled my 4 future reservations here as well as having all of my coworkers cancel theirs here. So many other options that don't hassle their loyal customers. read more

This hotel gets 5 stars. It is clean. Everything is recently updated. The rooms are spacious with lots of light. The windows have both functioning sheets and blackout curtains. The beds are comfortable. And they are queen-sized which means you can comfortably sleep 3 or 4 in one room. The towels are new and soft. The heating/cooling system is so quiet - no loud blower fan clanging on and off. I applaud the "boxed" water that comes in cartons instead of plastic, and the real glasses and china mugs in the rooms. The reception desk was very helpful and responsive with our staggered check-in. Did not avail myself of the electronic room key it is possible to have e-mailed, but that is an interesting option. The cafe downstairs sells wine by the half and full bottle, and offers Starbucks coffee drinks. The location is excellent, with plenty of good restaurants within two blocks. The parking has been an issue for some guests in the past. It is not free, not even for Bonavoy members, and it is not cheap. At the hotel, the valet parking is $65 a night. And parking at the Prudential Center directly across the street is $45 a night. When I chose this hotel for our stay I did notice that the other hotels in Boston also charge for parking, and the Prudential center parking was the best available option. read more

I would not recommend staying at this hotel, especially if you need to cancel or make adjustments. Note I'm a Marriott platinum member. I booked a 2 night stay and had to cancel 2 days before when I tore my ACL. It was extremely stressful and the way this hotel handled it has only made it worse. They charged me because they have a 4 day cancellation policy - their assistant GM hasn't returned any of my calls and they sent me a curt email after 3 days misspelling my name and stating that they wouldn't give me a refund. Its a shame that they can't treat people well and lack sympathy. read more

We chose this hotel based on location. We wanted a Marriott hotel close to the T. Plus we liked that fact that this hotel is housed in a refurbished apartment building from the 1800's. The building is so beautiful. And it's a very small hotel, only 81 rooms. The route we chose driving over from Logan took us thru a couple quaint neighborhoods that gave us a nice taste of the area. And we were pleased to be near Newbury Street, which we equated to a New England Rodeo Drive. Since we had an early morning flight, we were hoping for an early check in. No rooms were available because we were told their cleaning staff doesn't start the day until 9 am and they were complete booked the night before. But they kindly stowed our car and luggage and took our number so they could call when a room was ready. We received a call around 10:30 am, while we were finishing up breakfast on Newbury Street. Our room wasn't overly huge, but felt somewhat spacious due to room planning. The room was very beautiful. Built ins made good use of space, everything well organized. Our bath was huge, really liked the size of the walk in shower. The staff here is first rate. As always, everyone was very courteous and friendly. Loved our valet. So nice to receive personalized attention. We felt very comfortable here and enjoyed our stay. read more

Worst hotel experience I've ever had. And I'm on the road for work at least 2 weeks a month, so I've seen some doozies. At the time of check in, I'd spent more nights (126 in fact - it's the end of June, do the math) in a Marriott this year than in my own home. Arrived at this Courtyard pretty late for check in, after a work event. For some reason, it took the clerk 40 minutes and three trips to the back room (to talk to a manager who never showed his/her face - more on that momentarily) to find the rooms that my colleague and I had reserved 2 months prior. No real explanation of why, but whatever, it was late. We eventually received keys and headed up. I got off at floor 10, put my key in the door...and opened it up to see A WOMAN LYING IN BED, who sat up terrified. (Pro tip - use the deadbolt! But seriously, I'm glad she wasn't armed.) I ran back to the elevator, which picked up my colleague on the 5th floor - her key didn't work. We get back downstairs and I'm ready to light this clerk up, but we can tell immediately that he's on the phone being chewed out already, for what sounded like an unrelated issue.) So we're civil, and we get new keys but no real apology, other than blaming his poor handwriting for giving my coworker the wrong key....We're tired (it's now been 1 hour and 10 minutes since we arrived), and decide to speak with a manager the next day. SO, we leave early for meetings the next day, and arrive back at the desk around noon, to ask to speak with a manager. The young woman at the desk goes behind the scenes to the mysterious back room, and comes back to inform us that 'the managers (plural!) are too busy right now.' I'm under no illusions that I'm special, but I do work in a customer-facing role, and the idea of refusing to talk to a frustrated customer, who happens to have Platinum Elite status with the hotel chain, is truly unbelievable. The girl takes our room numbers and says the manager will call up later to talk. Guess what?! Never happened. Aside from the miserable customer service experience, this hotel had water dripping out of the light fixtures at the front desk, and is limited to two slow, ill-placed elevators. There are at least five much better hotels within walking distance of this one. Save your money, and your time, and your sanity, and stay anywhere but the Courtyard Marriott in Copley Square, Boston. read more

I'd like to thank this hotel for ruining what was supposed to be an amazing night. They called a week yes only one week to cancel reservations that had been made in December saying that they have a Convention coming in and can no longer give us a room. I've searched for other hotels in the area and they want to charge an arm and a leg because it's so close to the date we need. So thank you for ruining a late Christmas gift. Be careful if you chose to make reservations here, because even if you do it months in advance if a large company comes in and says they want your room the hotel gladly gives it to them and will only tell you a week before. I wonder how many other people they have done this to. Horrible to do this to someone. read more
