We stopped into this place for breakfast. The server was right on had a seated got our order and our meal came out pretty quickly. The food here is awesome. If you want a great breakfast this is the place to stop in at. The insides are kind of a throwback of an earlier and friendlier time. If you're looking for great breakfast, please check this place out. They are that good.

Best Mushroom Cheeseburger ever!! Wow! The bun was light and airy, generous portions of mushrooms and pickles, freshly sliced tomato and lettuce was very crisp, generous amount of onions. This was a burger I would've made at home, delicious I've never seen portions like this since the 1980s!!Awesome! Of course the burger itself was big(1/3lb) delicious and juicy, and served with so many fries- cooked to perfection!! Diners Do Not do that these days! Prices very affordable , this plate was $13.95 most diners charge over $20 and give you half the amount that was served here -with less quality as well--not this place!! I travel through this area maybe twice a year --I will now always stop here to eat, A must go to!!

The ambiance in the Cowgirl Cafe is easy going. Warmth and at-home is what the restaurant seems to want their guests to feel upon entering and enjoying a good meal. Everywhere one looks, there are photos and historical articles & items, from rustic to modern country - incorporating the past and present country life. The service was a little slow, but cordial and attentive. The restaurant is very clean with table or booth seating options. Pastrami Burger - moist hamburger with tender pastrami on a fresh bun. Really enjoyed this selection. Turkey Avocado Bacon Club Sandwich - good size sandwich with fresh, crisp ingredients. Delicious. We were impressed with our food selections as the portions were generous and flavorful. We would return when in the area.

The service was great and the food was good. Even though it was super busy, the service did not fail. Great customer service which lacks in most places these days. I really like the ambience at those location. It is also a lot bigger than it looks from the outside.

This was our first time at this location. We moved here during Covid from South County. This cute western style restaurant never disappoints. Friendly staff and great food. We've been coming to this cafe for almost 30 years first in Pismo Beach and then Nipomo. The food is always delicious and no shrinkage (portion size) like everywhere else. The price is more than reasonable. We even came in about 45 minutes before close and we were never rushed. So happy to have this here!

Located on El Camino, in the Food 4 Less shopping center, is Cowgirl Cafe. When we were in South County, we went to the Nipomo location a lot. This was the first time to this location. There was plenty of parking and the restaurant is huge! Very deceiving. It's got that down home, country vibe. The staff was running around and making sure people were good. I ordered the OJ, Veggie Omelette w/home fries, sourdough toast, and homemade salsa. I also, partaken in a short stack. Everything was good. The Oj came in a Mason Jar, was sweet and tart. The veggie omelette was cheesy and every bite had vibrance from the different veggies. The home fries were big chunked, crispy outside and fluffy inside. The toast was toast. The homemade salsa reminded me of Jacko's in Nipomo. Chunky Tomato forward type. The pancakes were nicely cooked with great fluff. Overall, very good and everyone enjoyed themselves in my party.

I dropped in for Brunch the other day. The outward appearance looked super cute with a Western motif. I ordered the 2+2 (2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon & 2 sausage) plenty of food for a hungry tummy. Overall the food was hot and delicious although I will honestly say the pancakes were as big as my head. read more

I hate giving bad reviews because I don't know what it is like to walk in someone else's shoes, but... Fairly crowded lunch on Tuesday. Only one server (who was also the cashier). I don't know how she did it. But everyone felt just cringe for her. Meals were ok but lackluster. Service was understandably "strained." My first (and last) time here. Sad. (PS: the toilets reeked of raw sewage. Dangerous!). Avoid this one folks. read more

Hubby and I had an event rental drop off this weekend in Atascadero. We were recommended this place for breakfast. I didn't take any pictures but the food was really good. I got eggs, home fries, and toast. The potatoes here were SO good! Crispy outside, soft on the inside. Hubby had pork chops and eggs, home fries, and toast. He also loved the potatoes. The portions of the pork chops were huge! He could only eat one and we needed a box for the remaining pork chop and potatoes. The service was also great. We were seated right away, they promptly took our drink order. The waitress was very friendly. Food came out at a decent time. The price was pretty decent too. Our bill for the two of us was $45. Where we eat breakfast at home in Santa Maria, we normally spend $60. I would definitely go here again if I'm in Atascadero again. read more

Came here cause we were craving a chicken fried steak. We were greeted right away. After sitting down, We ordered a Bloody Mary with our meal. The Bloody Mary was great and just what we needed after a night out. The chicken fried steak came out hot, crispy with just the right amount of gravy. I also ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. All of it was good and hit the spot. Needless to say we were satisfied with our meal. Will come back when the cravings come back. read more

So I came here with my girlfriend pretty early I ordered a dip with beef meat pretty good overall the bread got soggy after 5 min!! My girlfriend got the budget breakfast the eggs were undercooked bacon was okay bread was okay aswell the worst thing that happened to me was that there were lipstick stains all over the rim of my cup absolutely disgusting! Quick breakfast stop with my brother. Service outstanding. Food cooled perfectly and the best gravy I've had in awhile at a breakfast spot. Kind of an ever so slight chicken flavor and good seasonings. I had corned beef hash and eggs. Eggs over medium. Over all, always a good choice for quick and tasty food. Superb. Went in around 9am and was seated right away. Said we wanted a booth and we got a booth. Took our order and food was out in about 5 to 6 minutes, super quick. Kept coming by to fill our coffees and make sure everything was okay. Food was delicious, could not believe it. Every bite was amazing. Good work chefs. I'd advise you to stay in your own lane, which might be hard for you to do. April is one of the hardest working ,most considerate and courteous people I've met. Used to be great. Subpar now. I ordered egg white bacon mushroom cheese omelet with swiss and added spinach, homefries, dry english muffin - crispy. I received no swiss, almost untoasted english muffin, homefries not cooked. I've never done a yelp interview, but this was so bad that it warrants one. Salt and pepper shakers were GROSSLY dirty. Must miss. I am a local who will never go back. read more

I'm a regular at Cowgirl Cafe. This is my local quiet spot for me and breakfast time. Started going here when I found out they served mimosas and Bloody Mary's. Then found out they had some Bomb home style breakfasts. Always great food. Friendly service and good portions. Outdated decor but then again it transports you back to when times were simpler. read more

Cowgirl Cafe could have turned us down when my family of four walked in on 9/22/15 about 15 minutes until closing, but they didn't. We were here as a via point during our road trip from Sequoia National Park down to Ocean Mesa in Goleta. Not only was the staff extremely nice, but they didn't get upset when BOTH of our children had separate meltdowns. We were the only patrons in there, but still our 1 & 2-year-olds no longer wanted to be confined to a chair any longer! And yes, they have high chairs! There was no baby changing station to speak of in the women's restroom, but it was a really clean one. FOOD - breakfast, brunch, & lunch comfort food - dinner is offered only half of the week - mostly affordable, typical American diner food - portions are large - daily specials are available - the turkey, avocado and bacon omelette was decent... it was a ton of food. Their take on an omelette is egg on bottom, the rest on top. Came with toast and hash browns. - crisp, bubbly soda fountain drinks - ice cold milk for our babes WHAT ELSE? Casual atmosphere. Cowgirl/boy memorabilia everywhere. The bronze cowgirl statue on wheels was really cool to our kiddos. TV with news on in the back. Tables & booths are available. Cowgirl Cafe is a chain with three others in California. Parking is a breeze as there is a shared lot out front. HOURS As of 9/22/15 their hours are as follows: Open daily 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. Dinner is Wednesday - Saturday 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. It's worthy of a comfort meal if you're in the area, but it's not somewhere you should rush to right away. We came here on Friday and the food and service was so good when we were leaving we said, "see you tomorrow" and then came back. When we showed up on Saturday morning and everyone was saying hello and welcome back. We got the same good service from the same waitress, who I wish I had gotten her name because she really took care of us and made sure she came back to the table a lot. Got the French toast combo....sausage was to die for. Coffee was always filled or checked on. I will be coming back here for breakfast since Hoovers is now no longer open. read more

Specialties

The country breakfast menu offers eggs, omelettes, large pancakes described as "cowgirl size," French toast and, for the real down-home eater, biscuits and gravy. Cinnamon rolls are served warm and drizzled with cream cheese frosting. Don't forget about the famous sausage patty, made to Cowgirl's proprietary recipe. But Cowgirl Café offers much more than just breakfast! Salad choices include a Cobb salad, served on an extra-large plate with crisp romaine lettuce, chunks of chilled turkey breast, crisp bacon, soft avocado and blue cheese crumbles, all mixed with ranch dressing. Sandwich selections, such as the Country-style beef dip on French roll, are also plentiful in portion like the rest of the meals on the menu. And if that isn't enough, baked goods are a specialty at Cowgirl Café. The Atascadero Cafe's resident baker makes an assortment of cookies, cream and fruit pies, muffins, strawberry shortcake and cinnamon rolls daily.

History

Established in 2004.

My original plan was to become a professional chef. I obtained formal training at California Culinary Academy, but my "real" training took place in my Grand Mom and Mom's Kitchen. Many of the recipes we use today at Cowgirl Café are from my Great Grand Mom's trail cooking in Texas and Oklahoma. Our biscuits, gravy and sausage originated from my Grandma Dodd's "covered wagon" style cooking. In 1978, I started my own catering company, and over the course of the next fifteen years until 1993 my wife, Meredith and I built "Maddy's Catering". We custom catered shows, events, weddings and horse clubs for many years while making great friends who still patronize our Cowgirl Café restaurants today. Meredith and I were very thankful for all the support we received from our family and friends. In 1994 we incorporated our catering business into our first Cowgirl Café restaurant located in Mira Loma. In 1978, I started my own catering company, and over the course of the next fifteen years until 1993 my wife, Meredith and I built "Maddy's Catering". We custom catered shows, events, weddings and horse clubs for many years while making great friends who still patronize our Cowgirl Café restaurants today. Meredith and I were very thankful for all the support we received from our family and friends. In 1994 we incorporated our catering business into our first Cowgirl Café restaurant located in Mira Loma. We converted a seventy year old house that was only 800 square feet, decorated it with all the western items we had collected from customers and friends, bought some equipment and jumped into the restaurant business. From the very first day, we were a big hit in the neighborhood. Norco Cowgirl Café #2 opened in 1998 and our Pismo Beach and Paso Robles restaurants opened in 2000. Soon thereafter we opened our Nipomo Café in 2001 and Atascadero in 2004. We added a bakery to our Atascader

As for the chili, I'm about 99% sure it was straight out of a can of Dennison's. If you're going to serve canned chili, at least don't make it obvious. By the end of the meal, I felt like I'd paid for a first-class ticket and ended up riding in the baggage car. Save yourself the fare and steer clear of this train wreck. In response to Mario. I feel like when I parked, others were arriving at the same time, so I rushed in and grabbed a table. The sign says seat yourself, so we got the largest table there. She knows what it does to her but she does it anyways. No fault of the restaurant. This one was on her. It must have been worth it because she finished her leftovers after her sugar crashed soon after. Everyone else loved their food as well. One thing I wasn't aware of is that they serve cinnamon coffee. When I got my first refill, she asked if I wanted cinnamon. You can be excused for not knowing since I don't even see coffee on the menu, let alone cinnamon. I must have had at least 3 cups in the less than 40 min we were there. Looking around the inside, it's very nice inside. It's not ritzy by any means, but I did enjoy looking around inside. We also discovered a now binge-worthy show to watch that was playing behind us-Worse Cooks In America. I hooked that out was on so patrons would appreciate the good food in front of them. I had the maple Old Fashioned, and it was amazing -- smooth, flavorful, and definitely something I would come back for. My girlfriend had the Sauvignon Blanc and really enjoyed it as well. One of the best parts of the night was Anna coming over to talk with us toward the end of our visit. That personal touch made the experience feel even more welcoming and memorable. I also didn't catch the bartenders' names, but they were both super accommodating and helpful when I approached the bar with questions. Great drinks, great atmosphere, and great people. We'll definitely be back.

The brand new Nana's has gluten free pastries, coffee beverages featuring local brews and a truly kind staff. We tried their Mexican mocha and vanilla latte. Both were very good with a rich coffee flavor that we like. We also had their chocolate chip scone which was very good as well. They also have gluten free pastry options. Overall, a great coffee house. If we are in the area next time, we will definitely stop by for some more good coffee and pastries! Happy Nom Nom!

In this case the satisfaction definitely did not meet the price that was paid.

They also had a ticketed comedy show, which we stayed for after the official closing time on a Saturday. It was fun and totally worth it. With their strong local connections and family atmosphere, Wild Fields in Atascadero is worth the detour from SLO and Paso destinations, especially for families.

I ended up getting an iced coffee with honey lavender syrup and 2%. Forgot to take a pic of it but it was delicious. I also got the chicken apple sausage breakfast burrito which was the perfect size and not too heavy. If you're ever in Atascadero, give Joebella a try.

Joebella's takes it down easily. A bit out of the way, but worth the visit. Friendly staff and a clean upbeat atmosphere. Certainly will return.

I use to come here all the time when they were located behind Rite Aid. Now I don't go at all. I tried this place out once (in the new location) and the staff was not nice at all. They placed us in the middle of the room when we specifically asked for a booth and we would have waited if they needed us too. Instead they just sat us down and we had to deal with it. The waitress was rude and the food was alright. Plus, the hours are so random. Sometimes they are open sometimes they aren't. Weird. read more

Shitty service. The waitresses are rude and cocky when they actually suck at waiting tables. The worse thing this establishment did was letting his old waitress go they are the ones that made the dining experience worth coming back. read more
