Inside with a great American flag

We stopped into this place for breakfast. The server was right on had a seated got our order and our meal came out pretty quickly. The food here is awesome. If you want a great breakfast this is the place to stop in at. The insides are kind of a throwback of an earlier and friendlier time. If you're looking for great breakfast, please check this place out. They are that good.

Pretty good breakfast! Healthy portions, price was average. Great customer service! The place was clean. The only complaint is they don't have Coke products. We will be back.

    Mushroom Cheeseburger

Best Mushroom Cheeseburger ever!! Wow! The bun was light and airy, generous portions of mushrooms and pickles, freshly sliced tomato and lettuce was very crisp, generous amount of onions. This was a burger I would've made at home, delicious I've never seen portions like this since the 1980s!!Awesome! Of course the burger itself was big(1/3lb) delicious and juicy, and served with so many fries- cooked to perfection!! Diners Do Not do that these days! Prices very affordable , this plate was $13.95 most diners charge over $20 and give you half the amount that was served here -with less quality as well--not this place!! I travel through this area maybe twice a year --I will now always stop here to eat, A must go to!!

Pastrami Burger - Good size and juicy.

The ambiance in the Cowgirl Cafe is easy going. Warmth and at-home is what the restaurant seems to want their guests to feel upon entering and enjoying a good meal. Everywhere one looks, there are photos and historical articles & items, from rustic to modern country - incorporating the past and present country life. The service was a little slow, but cordial and attentive. The restaurant is very clean with table or booth seating options. Pastrami Burger - moist hamburger with tender pastrami on a fresh bun. Really enjoyed this selection. Turkey Avocado Bacon Club Sandwich - good size sandwich with fresh, crisp ingredients. Delicious. We were impressed with our food selections as the portions were generous and flavorful. We would return when in the area.

We wanted to go somewhere different for breakfast and have gone to cowgirl cafe in Nipomo numerous times, so we decided to try the Atascadero location out. The service was great and the food was good. Even though it was super busy, the service did not fail. Great customer service which lacks in most places these days. I really like the ambience at those location. It is also a lot bigger than it looks from the outside.

This was our first time at this location. We moved here during Covid from South County. This cute western style restaurant never disappoints. Friendly staff and great food. We've been coming to this cafe for almost 30 years first in Pismo Beach and then Nipomo. The food is always delicious and no shrinkage (portion size) like everywhere else. The price is more than reasonable. We even came in about 45 minutes before close and we were never rushed. So happy to have this here!

Located on El Camino, in the Food 4 Less shopping center, is Cowgirl Cafe. When we were in South County, we went to the Nipomo location a lot. This was the first time to this location. There was plenty of parking and the restaurant is huge! Very deceiving. It's got that down home, country vibe. The staff was running around and making sure people were good. I ordered the OJ, Veggie Omelette w/home fries, sourdough toast, and homemade salsa. I also, partaken in a short stack. Everything was good. The Oj came in a Mason Jar, was sweet and tart. The veggie omelette was cheesy and every bite had vibrance from the different veggies. The home fries were big chunked, crispy outside and fluffy inside. The toast was toast. The homemade salsa reminded me of Jacko's in Nipomo. Chunky Tomato forward type. The pancakes were nicely cooked with great fluff. Overall, very good and everyone enjoyed themselves in my party.

    Western theme restaurant.

We had time for dinner so off we went. Hum whats nearby the theatre, alot of places to eat really...we'd liked the A town diner before, the menu covers it all practically so...We parked seven o'clock the dinner tush had passed and in we went. We were seated at a small booth, perfect. Drink orders taken now we needed to decide what to eat. M went with a light breakfast offering a pancake, a scrambled egg and bacon. Hum it was dinner time dear, I needed more time. The fish & chips were the special and it was Good Friday but I went big with the hot pastrami sandwich. Fries are extra so I ordered the onion rings to accompany the sammie. Pretty quick the food was out of the kitchen and on the table in front of us, wow M dove right into that 7" pancake as soon as she finished pouring on the syrup. My sandwich was a hood size on a very soft french roll a good six inches Very tasty but I always think there should be more meat than bread, there was alot of bread in that roll. Where's the beef, right... Onion rings, nothing special your average frozen beer battered Moores onion ring served late but freshly hot. We had a good meal, good service and a fair price. Was it five star, no it was a good four star, we didn't need or want anything special. Now dessert was a calling from behind that glass display when we walked in the door but tonight the stomach and the wallet forgave. We were gonna need reason for movie concessions, right? I ordered the beef ribs with mashed potatoes and gravy, chili, and bread. The ribs had less flavor than the menu and were mostly fat and gristle. I spent more time excavating edible meat than actually eating it. The mashed potatoes were so chunky they could have qualified as landscaping material, and the gravy had the consistency of train-car axle grease. As for the chili, I'm about 99% sure it was straight out of a can of Dennison's. If you're going to serve canned chili, at least don't make it obvious. By the end of the meal, I felt like I'd paid for a first-class ticket and ended up riding in the baggage car. Save yourself the fare and steer clear of this train wreck. In response to Mario. Thank you for proving to everyone reading the reviews that I wasn't the problem. I criticized the food. You attacked the customer. Reviews help people decide where to spend their money. Your response probably helped more people than my review ever could.

A group of us went for dinner and I had the Western Burger and fries. The burger had good flavor with the ingredients tasting very fresh. The conversation was good, so I didn't pay that much attention to what others ordered, but everyone said their dishes tasted good. Our food arrived quickly and I would definitely come back again to try one of the other sandwiches or burgers, if we are in the neighborhood. The only drawback to this restaurant was that they close at 7:30pm daily, a bit early for my dining habits. The location is conveniently located on Grand Avenue, not far from the Hwy 101 off-ramps and on-ramps, and they have a large parking lot that is easy to pull in to.

Lots of bussers running around but seemed like only 1 waitress. From the time we ordered our food it seemed like eternity till we ate. I quickly realized that our food probably sat on the ready counter for a significant length isn't time. I ordered biscuits and gravy with bacon and two eggs over easy. The biscuits were ok at best, Gravy lacked flavor and my eggs were as cold as the weather outside. My GF ordered a sandwich, that did not come with fries. That was discovered once the order arrived. We were told they're playing with the menu. ‍, sounded weird but ok. She also god a side of mozzarella sticks. Those two were cold. Like they took a string cheese and rolled it in breading and heated in the microwave for about 15 seconds. So disappointing. I hope they figure out their staffing issues and lock in the menu. Seems like a decent spot but I'll find another breakfast place. Don't waste your money, plus I heard the tips are automatically added to the bill. I didn't look that closely because there was only 3 of us eating and I'm not used to auto tipping unless you have a large party. If they do auto tipping, my waitress hit well more than deserved because I tipped on my own as well. The table we were sat, was out of little jam packets. Seems like a trivial thing to bring up but details matter. What else are they skipping...? Do they even wipe down a table when it's reset first the next guests? McDonalds is down the street. At least their food is hot!

If you've been following along on the journey, you know I was trying to keep this trip cheap. At least I was. Now, I'm just trying to salvage it with one last attempt at a reasonably priced restaurant. I suggested 2 places that didn't look too bad, one of which was The Hungry Fisherman. For whatever reason, my wife wasn't interested in either. A third option was a place at the end of Embarcadero that we first went to during covid. My thing was, we have a dog and I don't want to eat outside. It's cold and one place only seats people with pets outside. But since we've been there and my wife was mistaking it for another, she wanted to go there anyways. I guess we will leave the dog in the car? Idk. I come inside and we are looking at 30+ min. What if we take it to go? 20 min. What if we call it in? 20 min. Apparently, if you want to make a to-go order, you have to wait for the 2 servers to find the time to take your order in between waiting their tables. But I'm ranting about another restaurant that we didn't even stay at. But that's how we ended up here. I feel like when I parked, others were arriving at the same time, so I rushed in and grabbed a table. The sign says seat yourself, so we got the largest table there. It seated 8 and while I waited for my family to come in, I was hoping I didn't look odd sitting there by myself. Fortunately my family came quick and we got started. Looking at everything, the menu isn't expansive, but there were a lot of good looking options. I was split between the chicken fried steak and the chile verde burrito. I'm a little picky about my chile verde since it can either be too spicy or bland. Morro Bay isn't known for its Mexican population as far as I can tell, and I've been seriously disappointed in chile verde when it isn't cooked by natives. But since there is a page dedicated just to Mexican food, and the waitresses are off Latin descent, I give the chile verde burrito a go. Especially after I ask our waitress for her opinion. I'm glad I did because it exceeded all expectations. The avocado, the salsa, sour cream, it all just worked so well together. I got about 3/4 of the way with it and my daughter finished the rest. She also agreed it was good. My wife got the French toast, which was a bad idea. Not because it wasn't good, she loved it. But because bread makes her sugar spike, and the consequences came strong less than an hour later. To give you perspective, the tortilla on a burrito makes it spike. She knows what it does to her but she does it anyways. No fault of the restaurant. This one was on her. It must have been worth it because she finished her leftovers after her sugar crashed soon after. Everyone else loved their food as well. One thing I wasn't aware of is that they serve cinnamon coffee. When I got my first refill, she asked if I wanted cinnamon. You can be excused for not knowing since I don't even see coffee on the menu, let alone cinnamon. I must have had at least 3 cups in the less than 40 min we were there. Looking around the inside, it's very nice inside. It's not ritzy by any means, but I did enjoy looking around inside. We also discovered a now binge-worthy show to watch that was playing behind us-Worse Cooks In America. I hooked that out was on so patrons would appreciate the good food in front of them. Also on the way out, looking inside the cooking area -all Mexicans. So it makes sense that the food was so authentic. Like I said, we will be back. I ordered my soda to be delivered with my meal so I got my refill while I was still eating. Not much ice, had to move more from my water. Also soda a bit flat (might be because it is Pepso?) Fries were great, hot and crispy. I salted them myself and ate with Ranch. The burger was warm but a bit thinner than I have had here before. The bun was nice. Definitely will return here again and pay cash, just won't order the chicken strips!!
