This spot has been on my radar for quite some time now. So I made my way to them and I'm glad I did...REALLY! I saw the size of the sandwiches on various social media outlets, and I wanted to believe the hype...well...the hype is real!! So @crackedeggery is a food truck, and on this day their location was on 8th, and Florida Ave., N.W. Washington DC. This truck moves daily but they post their movement on social media, so if you decide to go, you'll know exactly where, and when they'll...BE!! OK let's get to it,this truck specializes in breakfast sandwiches with egg on it. They have items like "The Bubby"(With smoked salmon, fried egg, capers onions, cream cheese, and everything seasoning $12), and their vegetarian "Green Eggs No Ham"(with Scrambled eggs, tomatillo salsa, chives, and goat cheese $10). They have burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, a slew of different flavored tater tots, even fried pimento cheese rounds. But on this day I copped; their "The Mayor" sandwich (pictured-Cracked bacon, scrambled eggs with American & cheddar cheese, and their Cracked sauce $10), their "Abe Froman" sandwich (pictured-with Double sausage, scrambled egg, American and cheddar cheeses,and cracked sauce $12 because I got 2 patty's), and their "Mr. Brigg's Stuff" (pictured-I have smoked sausage,fried egg,American & cheddar cheese,onions, and mustard $10). I also copped their Garlic Parmesan truffle tots for $4 bucks...let me tell you...I STAMPED these off the break!! Yes!! Ok so the sandwiches are HUGE!! The bacon joint...GET IT!! STAMP!! With that Cracked sauce...YES!! The Halfsmoke...HITTIN!! STAMP!! These sandwiches are just bursting with flavor, they are good!! The sausage sandwich was definitely delicious, I just think I went overboard with the double meat. Customer service was decent, parking was rough, the truck was clean, and online ordering was easy. It's a great food truck with fantastic sandwiches. My personal favorite is the Iñigo Montoya. For bowls, the Seoul Mate pork belly was so good. They also make very good Old Bay tots. If you get a chance to order from them, highly recommend it. read more

Yum! This food truck was in my apartment complex so I had to take full advantage. I was able to place an order online for quick pick up and it was ready by when I showed up. I ordered the indigo Montoya (chorizo, fried egg, pepper jack, arugula, lemon aioli) with a side of garlic parm tots. After reading the many reviews saying this sandwich was delicious but heavy, I was expecting to feel food coma-y after I ate. But I think the arugula on the sandwich made it taste lighter - it was delicious! The egg yolk in the sandwich was perfect, and the challah bun was so fluffy. I've been wanting to try this place and was able to go earlier this week for takeout. There were so many options to choose from!! I ultimately decided to get the Mr. Briggs sandwich and a side of garlic parmesan tots. My friend also got the loaded tots for himself. The Mr. Briggs was soo good! The runny egg worked really well with the half smoke. I was a bit worried about how the shape of the sausage would fit on the buns, but I ended up not minding it at all because all the toppings blended together perfectly. I also highly recommend getting the garlic parm tots too! They were a nice accompaniment to the sandwich and I thought there was a good generous amount of parm. I was also able to try a bite of the loaded tots too, which I didn't like as much. It was a bit sweet for me, I think because of the bacon? But I can definitely see someone being into that. For now, I'll stick to the garlic parm tots though! Overall, my experience was very good! read more

As a self-professed breakfast sandwich connoisseur, this is an amazing one! I went to go treat myself to a post-vaccine breakfast, and I got The Animal, which has egg, cheese, bacon, sausage, tater tots, and cracked sauce. I did not finish it in one sitting, but it also didn't feel crazy heavy or greasy. The brioche is perfect, and the flavors balance really well. Excited for their brick and mortar location to open, although it's across the street from the amazing Union Kitchen breakfast sandwiches and the Butter Me Up pop up in Half Smoke, so the competition at this corner will be steep! read more

Pros: the challah buns are excellent and sandwiches are generously sized (lots of bacon on mine!) Cons: longish wait time (25 min or so) and they ran out of pimento cheese for the sandwich I ordered (southern charm). After waiting for so long (and being a huge pimento cheese fan!), this was a bit of a bummer...they asked if they could replace it with cheddar and it tasted okay but not great. Cracked Eggery is what you need after a night of drinking. Bread is on point, eggs are fluffy, cheese is melty, and meat is super flavorful. Not to mention, these things are huge and pair perfectly with a side of their seasoned tots (both garlic/parm and old bay are delish). This might not be my every day breakfast sandwich due to it's size and the fact I need to lay down afterwards, but it certainly serves me well on the weekends and I can't wait for their brick and mortar to open. read more

Holy Jesus. This place is incredible. Actually had a religious experience while eating my sandwich. Ordered "The Bubby" - smoked salmon, fried egg, red onions, caper tapenade, cream cheese, and everything seasoning. I am a salmon lox lover. I have had plenty of lox in my time. This beats it all. It was the most delicious sandwich I have probably ever eaten. I will dream about The Bubby. Delicious, soft bread and smoked salmon. The capers were a dream. The egg was perfectly runny and complimented it incredibly. I also got the Old Bay Cracked Tots and those were magnificent as well. I would recommend Cracked Eggery like no other. The bread was the most amazing part (it was simply delightful!), followed by the tenderness of the scrambled egg. From there things go south. My bacon seemed like the remnants from the bottom of the basket/pan. And as you can see, there wasn't really very much of it (despite what their ads show). I don't think my real-life pics look like anything you'd pay $10 for. The potatoes were ok... But so are Chick-fil-A's and they are 1/4 of the price. I'd driven 40 minutes to get there, too. I would say the food is pretty good. I like the cracked tots. Not a lot to say: it's nothing special really. When this place opened in my neighborhood I was excited but it's disappointing as anything. They don't take cash, which is inaccessible and inconvenient for any DC resident, but specifically for the homeless population, it's just disrespectful and embarrassing. Additionally, they're "not allowed" to hand out cups for water. Especially in the DC heat, this seems ridiculous and rude. A bottle of water is $3. For pretty average food this place has no business charging so much, being cash-free, and not even offering water. read more

Used to like this place until today, when I attempted to order but was denied service because I only had cash. I was told by the cashier that Cracked was contactless payment only, and I was not given my food. However, if you look this up, you'll find that banning the use of cash in DC is a discriminatory practice. Not sure if it was COVID related, but even if they did this because of COVID, it makes no sense when people are dining inside this place, and you can see more than a few folks in the kitchen not wearing masks. I have eaten here before and the food is AMAZING, but they did not communicate to customers that they would be closed due to winter weather. They could have used their social media account to communicate this to their customers. I placed an order for delivery to the hospital because their website allowed me to place the order. I have been requesting a refund for my $45 order for two days and I have not been able to get in contact with anyone. Their phone number does not allow you to call the store. It just gives a bunch of information and then it hangs up. When you send an email to them you also do not get an automated email back saying that your email was received. Boy was I wrong! This place is much better than any egg place has any right to be. I got the Mr. Brigg's Stuff, and the runny egg yolk goes along perfectly with the mustard, onions, and half-smoke. This is a great place to come if you want a simple, yet very delicious meal to eat in or on the go! I'm visiting DC and my hotel is about a mile walking distance each way, and well worth it. They have healthy options other nearby places do not offer, and they get it out rather quickly even though they get busy. I definitely recommend the "Everyday I'm brussel'n" bowl.
