My husband and I go to cracker barrel all the time, usually a different location though. This Location was horrendous. Let's start with the service. We were sat at 9:14am, our server was Candy R. She did not come and get our drink order until 9:40am. Over 15 minutes to get your drink order taken is unacceptable even if the restaurant is busy, which it was not. Then came our food (after another long wait). It was all undercooked. The eggs were slimy and watery. My husbands country fried steak was chewy not crispy. And my sirloin was so tough I could not even stick a fork through it, not to mention it was incredibly raw. My husband got one refill, I did not get any refills or straws like I had requested. Not bad at all for a late-night delivery order. Given the time of the order, I didn't expect it to be the best, but also wasn't disappointed with the quality! Everything was quite accurate, and nicely packaged. I did appreciate the packaging, as it kept things from being smashed or soggy upon delivery/arrival- plus, they did opt to throw in the suggested condiments & cutlery- much appreciated!! Late night eats are popular, so I was quite thrilled to see Cracker Barrel was offered on Postmates- it's been a while since I've indulged in their comfort food. And, you just can't go wrong with breakfast for dinner! While they didn't really have the full menu or options, there was still the staples to pick from, and my absolute favorite [biscuits & gravy] that is relatively difficult to find as a single item order anywhere else! So, they kinda won me over with that one. I can't say the food was mind-blowing fantastic. It is more your standard, basic fare. Eggs were done over-medium, and they included the little slices removed to form the hole in the toast for the eggs! The gravy portion was a little on the skimp side for 3 entire biscuits, so I wish they would fill the entire container instead of only 1/2 full. The sausage patties are nothing special, but they weren't overdone or underdone. And the potato casserole is decent (not nearly as good as the classic recipe I use at home) just a little weak on flavor. I didn't expect the pecan pie slice to be nearly 1/4 of an entire pie! So, that is quite nice, being able to split it into several servings (and the scoop of vanilla ice cream to compliment was unexpected but much appreciated!). Overall- not bad at all! On par for what is expected doing delivery orders. But, I just wish they offered more of their menu on the platform I used. Besides a handful of their breakfast items, there wasn't much else to choose from but sides, drinks & family size portions to feed a crowd. It's kind of weird they even offer some of their store products (games, candy cars, coffee packages, etc...) but not the full menu like you'd get dining in? SO DISAPPOINTED - and a bit irked - with this Mesa location of Cracker Barrel! *** In the past, I've heard folks RAVE about this place - so, when AJ's Fine Foods ran out of turkey dinner meals 5 days before their 'deadline' for ordering pick up, [which was our first preference] We looked elsewhere, and THIS was our second choice. BUT even as that - it was NOT a good one! We ordered the dinner for 4-6 people; IF we were having 4-6 people for the dinner we picked up - TWO FOLKS would've gone home still HUNGRY! It had only ONE-HALF of a turkey breast!!! - with small side dishes [yams and cornbread 'dressing'] with some strange-looking gravy! The only thing we ordered, that was included in the box - was the apple side dish; and we returned those! Once we got home and saw what the 'contactless' employee put in our trunk, we ended up taking it back to the store and getting a refund! Our total was ALMOST $115 and it MIGHT have served 4 - but DEFINITELY NOT SIX people! [if TWO breasts, were ordered, plus an extra side and a pie] - THAT dinner was priced at more than $140!! I'm a little surprised at 2 star reviews. When I visit a restaurant I try to evaluate the whole experience. We were seated immediately with warm attitude. Had menus and water at same time. Waitress responded for our to take orders perfectly. Rarely do we order same entrees but did in this case. Ordered fried chicken dinner. Food arrived quickly and hot. When we saw amount of food we were surprised at amount of food. Literally each got half a chicken fresh rolls mashed potatoes with gravy and Mac and cheese. Price total 13.99 $. Service. Poor service is as bad to me as bad food. In the last 6 months I've gone twice to this location on Gilbert. Food was good but service would not rate the one star. First time, seated and then wait. I had to ask for someone to wait on me. It was obvious I was avoided. Once I got my food, I had to stop someone and ask for utensils. Second time. I went to host stand. Only one there. Asked for 1. She said they were cleaning a table off and I'd be seated. I moved to the side. Young man walks up, said 1, and was seated immediately. Last week, I worked w/ "Melissa" to place a to-go breakfast order for 20 people. Melissa came up w/ the perfect menu! All items were individually packaged for our crew so they could "grab & go" Melissa was great to work with! We had their layered breakfast "layered" casserole, fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple) and right out of the oven biscuits! This is my first time eating at Cracker Barrel at this location, but my 3 or 4 time in general. We are in town for a surprise dinner for my best friend... and my mom has not been to a Cracker Barrel before. My younger son introduced me and my brother to Cracker Barrel when he was stationed at Fort Sill in OK. Anyway, as all Cracker Barrel's you walk into the gift shop. Filled with nostalgia candies and cute gift items to buy. Since this was breakfast I was prepared for a wait, also today was a marathon in Mesa this morning so I knew there was a possibility it might be busy. This was the closest one from our hotel. Hostess was super friendly, gave us a 10 min wait time, it was more like 5 mins. Our waiter was super attentive. Mom got the "old-timer's breakfast", I got "Grandpa's Fried Breakfast" (always a sucker for a good chicken fried steak." and my brother opted for the skillet steak w/shrimp.. no breakfast for him...lol.. I believe this is the second time in my life that I've been to a Cracker Barrel, not just this one but any of them. Today's experience reminds me why I've only been the one time. ohh.. where to start... the bathrooms, the food or the service?!? First off, don't try to be all *vegan eating here because there's basically nothing on the menu for you, but if you're ok with some dairy in your diet, you can do OK. The house salad was definitely a salad, it was OK, just not great. They currently have a limited time only bread crumb crusted squash dish which I ordered with my salad. It came out more breadcrumb than squash and the squash it did have was cooked to death. I wouldn't have known the difference between these squash and a bowl of mashed potatoes from a box to be honest, they were sooo mushy and overcooked. Bathrooms were horrible, like to the level that I would have preferred to be inside a porta potty at country thunder music festival after having been used a few hundred times already. There was paper on the floor, number twos in the toilets, disgusting sinks covered in gross dirty water from every person before me, sticky floors and a horrid smell that permeated through the door and outside into the hallway before you even stepped foot. I, unfortunately have a 5 year old who doesn't know how to hold their s--t. Here I was, wiping the toilet seat clear of the last guys excrement, while gagging and praying I didn't catch something. The things we do for our children, he better remember this cracker barrel experience when I'm old and don't know how to change my own adult diaper... After finishing his own business, again, here I am wiping and cleaning the counter off on behalf of the restaurant because, 5 year olds are short and if I didn't clean the counter, all that gross water and grime would end up on his shirt, arms, elbows and hands. This was certainly a bathroom that I stopped the manager to tell them about; their reply, "so sorry, we're just waiting for the dishwasher to get here". People can be super disgusting, but a restaurant bathroom needs to be attended to more than what appears to be once per week. Service, well, service was mostly good, we had a friendly server, but they definitely forgot about us after dropping the check. After waiting for 15 minutes for them to come back, I had to go flag down another server who was wiping up tables in another section to wrap up this *fine dining experience. If anyone ever hears the words Cracker Barrel come out of my mouth, please remind me of that one time I went and would have rather eaten directly from the rim of Satan's b**hole, because I'm 100% trying to erase this from my memory. read more

Southern comfort food done alright with some unique offerings and a fun environment. We like the entrance store probably more than we should, it is maybe better than the food. Fish Fry Friday was pretty good, good crisp and tasty bites. The cheesy potato casserole is always a favorite but can be dry sometimes. Green beans are delicious and they do mac n cheese well. Meatloaf is just one of those foods that brings back memories, it's a good place to get that fix, be sure to get your side of catchup. The grits were watery and hard to eat. We waited close to an hour for a table. We watched as folks came in after my family, and got seated before my family. Same size party and all. When I spoke with the hostess and let her know that we have been waiting for almost an hour (53 minutes) when the wait time was only 30 minutes, we got sat in a table of four. Then they tell us that those people maybe checked in online. Is that even a thing???? Anyways, they may need better customer service training. I love Cracker Barrel. Regardless of what location you go to, it'll always be the same experience quality food and great customer service. If you've never been I highly suggest their breakfast. It's a good old country style breakfast. Which also means big portions! An added bonus is the little bottle of syrup that come with your meal. The syrup is served warmed for a nice home kitchen feel. If you're not in a breakfast mood that's ok too. There are plenty of lunch and diner options. My new favorite being their frIed chicken! You get so much food for such a great price. The waitress did not know any of this and had to come back and tell me each time because not only does management not know how to properly stock food but they also do not know how to communicate and 86 item to the very people who take orders. My kid spilled his drink and the manager brought a few napkins instead of a mop. Had to ask for our biscuts and cornbread. Had to ask for my salad and did not get it until almost done with my entree. Everything including the salad was roomtemperature. Waitress brought our check without asking if we wanted dessert and we did. After waiting and realizing she aint coming back I had to order at the checkout counter. The To Go girl came back 5 minutes later to tell me... they are out of every pie. All 4 pie flavors. So I went to Cracker Barrel for a birthday as a nice celebration. we ordered our food as we normally would and at first the kids meals came out. we thought ok the adults meals will come out next. Nope. We waited until the kids finished eating and then we told them they forgot about our order and they said they are working on it and it should be out soon. so we waited. and 40 minutes later still no food. so we talk to our waiter. I ordered one of the grilled chicken dishes, the one with maple and bacon. The first time I had it, it was good. The next time they skimped on the maple sauce and barely gave me any, but was still descent. This last time I got it, (today) not only did they barely give any sauce but the chicken was not edible. It was disgusting. Very fatty where you can't even chew it. Generally speaking Cracker Barrel are known for having terrible sides but main courses are usually good. For example you almost need a knife and fork to eat the mashed potatoes. Their sides are as bad you can get. Before these few occasions going here I haven't been here for many years. Only went here because a friend was on his way out of town and wanted to meet in the middle. For some reason our service was super slow. And we ended up having two waitresses which didn't make sense. We were sat In a section with no one else in it but an individual who was almost done with his meal. I say this because when we ordered, other tables got sat next to us and then they ended up (both tables) getting their food before we did. Maybe I'm expecting too much. The food was fine. I think it's basic and yes country food. No excitement for me. I got the double meat option. I specifically asked for extra crispy bacon, that didn't happen, I asked for extra crispy hash browns, that didn't happen that is not our servers problems or maybe depending on how they took the order. The sausage was fine but tasted ummm like it was frozen. Eggs were medium and I should have got soft but it was fine. I figured out the pinhole game and ended up having one tee remaining which was the most exciting part of the breakfast experience. The country secretly gave me anxiety with all the nicknacks and "junk" in it. People buy this stuff and I don't understand, to each their own.
