Service - 5 stars Food - 4 stars Value - 4 1/2 stars OK first of all, I'm a tourist and totally not a native of Michigan, so you'll have to excuse me for being all excited about Cracker Barrel. :) Went in during peak lunchtime Saturday and only had to wait 10 minutes. It gave everyone plenty of time to browse around the front of the shop for miscellaneous candy and assorted goodies for the family. Was in Michigan visiting the in-laws. After only a short wait (must've been less than 10 min, but you get lost looking at all the stuff) we got seated. The waitress was nice, brought us fresh cornbread and biscuits. I personally thought the cornbread was a little bit dry, but it wasn't bad. We ordered our food and got the food in less than 10 minutes. The order was right, very tasty, and fast! I personally ordered the Sampler with the Chicken and Biscuits, Meatloaf, and Country ham. It also came with 3 sides. The food was good, the sides were even better, and for a party of 4, it cost us about $50 total. Try getting that amount of food for that price anywhere in Los Angeles. Afterwards, we went back to the front of the store, bought a bunch of snacks (spending almost more than the meal), and sat outside for a few in their rocking chairs until it was time to head out. :) read more

we waited 45 minutes before someone even got our drink order (at this point they were closing in like 25 minutes. and in order for someone to even come get our drink order we had to find someone and it was actually someone from the retail side. then we finally got our food and it was absolutely disgusting. nothing was cooked right. and the minute we stepped outside we both started feeling super sick. i am so so disappointed. never have i been there and not taken left overs home. this time? i left everything on the table. nothing was worth even taking home to my dog. 0/10. i guess our server went home, no one told the hostess, and she didnt tell us to move to a different section or have someone else wait on us. we get our bill and not even a sorry for your wait, sorry for poor service nothin. absolutely terrible read more

The only thing missing is the Pecan Log...LOL An over-priced tourist trap, with few items on the menu worth eating. The exception would be the (turnip) greens with hocks and a corn muffin. The antiques are all fakes and the "general store" junk is a real waste of time and money. Seating is uncomfortable and the floor-plan gives a crowded feel to the atmosphere. The huge fireplace could be nice, but not in the summer. Comparing prices in Michigan with those in Los Angeles is daft. I can't believe people wait in line to be seated at this place. read more

Cracker Barrel is one of my favorite places for a good meal that is similar to what I would cook at home. My 6 year old loves the chicken and dumplings and that is what he gets every time we go, wife likes the chicken and rice. I love it here for breakfast. I have rarely ever had a bad meal when I go to a Cracker Barrel. My only gripe it that it is always busy and I have to fight the kids to get them out of the store, but I can live with this. I have noticed that they are starting to change some of their food such as the biscuits and cornbread are different. Please don't change what makes me come back again and again. Your food is better that most chains and if I have to pay a little for a good meal I am more than willing. I have paid more for far worse food. Bonuses about this location is it's right across the road from Heck Park where they have two real Vietnam era choppers on display. If you go farther down the road you are at the River Raisin National Battlefield Park, which is the only national battle field park from the War of 1812. read more

Never had a bad experience in all my years of going to CB across the country but tonight was iffy. Everyone is short staffed. We're SUPER understanding. Really. We were seated and sat for 20 minutes as multiple waitresses walked right past us, and walked out of the kitchen and made eye contact then turned around and went back in. The first 10 minutes were ok. But... just stop, even if it's not your table, and say hey someone will be with you! We know you're here! And we could've sat there another 20 minutes if we'd been acknowledged. That's big. I used to serve and I know that after a table has been sitting nobody wants to take it because they don't want to be held responsible for leaving them sitting for so long... so, just help each other out. Even if it's not your table and you see someone sitting (and sitting and sitting) with menus and no drinks, it only takes a second in passing to say to colleagues hey, there's a table waiting! Definitely feel like asitting. (If there is one on staff at the moment) should've been making an appearance. Not for complaints, just to keep an eye and make that mental note to say hey staff, we've got a table sitting. When we saw 3 other tables get drinks and orders taken I had to ask one of the girls if she could find out who our server was and she was super polite, even though she knew we'd been waiting roo. I could see the friction between the servers when she mentioned it to them like nobody wanted to take on another table and that's when it gets weird. Like I said, not meant to be a complaint so much as it is a shoutout to the servers.. we all know you're short staffed and we REALLY sympathize! Just.. don't ignore tables, even if they aren't yours, a quick 'hey folks, someone will be over soon!' can change the whole experience for everyone. read more

Cracker Barrel is one of those places that you really like or really hate... I'm in the former camp... A great selection of southern / comfort food with daily specials that change (I believe Thursdays is the turkey and dressing special). The sides are all very good, but the biscuits and cornbread aren't as good as you'd imagine for a place like this. It's a bit expensive, but you get quite a bit of food. I usually have to take half of my plate home with me. Plus, where else can you get dinner and then buy moon pies in the lobby? read more

Today I have a pretty good experience at this Cracker Barrel location. But I do have some complaints. The lemonade tasted like it was make with toilet water and was very chunky. But when we told the waitress she took it back with no hesitation. I can say they you do get quite a lot of food and it's not very expensive. When we were trying to enjoy our meal there were very loud and obnoxious boys who would not stay quite. I think it is very disrespectful they acted like complete dog and no one did anything about it. My mom chose this as her Mother's Day dinner, we had a party of four. They were busy but we were quickly seated, and were also served faster than I assumed. Menu has a decent variety, everything looked clean. My catfish (spicy grilled option) was melt-in-your-mouth tender, exceeded expectation. My fried apple were like the ones famous daves used to have, I will say I am still sad they don't have them anymore. Cole slaw was good and green beans were as well. Corn bread muffins were more bread than corn bread, not bad but just ok. My mom LOVED the apple cider BBQ chicken (as soon as I saw that on the menu I knew she would get it), she said the okra was ok but didn't taste like anything , but she really liked the greens. The cod was very good as well a good amount of batter and still tender,fries it came with were just ok. My niece got the grilled chicken salad, she did enjoy but said she wished the chicken was cut smaller. We all enjoyed the gift shop as well. Even though the sides were hit or miss, my mom was very happy. The rest of us wouldn't have picked a country type of restaurant but we all liked our food. read more

Cracker Barrel is great if you want homestyle cooking at a reasonable price. They offer breakfast all day, which is totally awesome! They also have a great gift store that takes up half the place, full of candy, old-fashioned memorabilia, and toys for the kids. Tip of advice: Don't go on a Sunday around the time most churches get out (noon or so). You'll be in line for quite a while; it always is packed! read more

Never know from day to day what it will be like here. My wife and I stopped here a couple weeks back and it was great. Not today. Ordered the same thing I had last time because it was quite good but like night and day no comparison. I ordered the half pound bacon cheeseburger because it was so juicy and good last time. This time the bun was cold and stale and hard. The hamburger patty itself was like a charred soul from the cooks shoe and cold. The steak fries were cold and barely cooked. The cup of cole slaw was quite good if that's any consolation. Also I don't know what that was they called bacon on it but was quite tough and totally tasteless. My wife on the other hand had the chicken and dumplings which she always orders here. She said it was tasty but again very cold. Can't see me coming back for a long time. read more

The Cracker Barrell has definitely gone down hill. First of all they cannot accommodate people with peanut allergies. My daughter wanted a grilled chicken sandwich. They said sorry we use pecans on the grill. Seriously, so many people have nut allergies now a days. So she did not order anything. I ordered what I always order. A grilled tenderloin chicken sandwich on grilled sourdough bread. The grilled sourdough used to be thick. But now, it looks like thin white bread that was toasted not grilled. read more

I stayed in Monroe for a week. I had three breakfasts and three dinners at CK. the apple cinnamon oatmeal is very good. I was sad that CK had replaced their former oatmeal dish with the apple oatmeal, but the new one is outstanding. Don't forget to have the turkey bacon. For dinner i had the 4 vegetable dish, and country dish (pork chop). The baby carrots and turnip greens taste good. I also recommend sweet potato. Service was outstanding. read more

The food is always excellent. I recommend going on Thursdays when they have their turkey special. You get turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberries. You just can't go wrong at a Cracker Barrel. We've stopped here a few times after spending time in Ohio and have never been disappointed. First off the Chicken and Dumplings are the closest thing to home made I've ever had. They are delicious and you can add a side order too with almost every meal they offer. Their Fried Chicken, Country Fried Steak, Pork Chops are just good home style cooking'. The green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits and cornbread are all really good eating. My only complaint is they sometimes don't fill the side items to overflowing and have to be reminded to fill er up with Countrified goodness. Five stars and I'll definitely be back... read more

This has always been my favorite place to go, ever since I was a little kid. The staff are all very kind! Once my mom had gotten sick while we there (not because of the food, but just plain ole ill) and our waitress at the time (I unfortunately don't remember her name) got us boxes to go, and a to-go water for my mother cause she could tell we were ready to go. I just thought that was very kind and she didn't have to do as much as she did. The food has always been good, my favorite is the chicken and dumplings...I always get the platter and make all my sides chicken and dumplings as well, and also a thing of fried apples of course. I had the grilled rainbow trout with a baked sweet potato and rice pilaf; it was really good- the fish was flavorful as well as the potato. My kids got chicken fingers with fries and a burger with fries; both kids ate everything on their plates. Our waitress was very attentive, and our food took about 10 minutes to come out. Stopped for lunch while on vacation. We frequent Cracker Barrel in Florida so we figured we couldn't go wrong! A little disappointed with this one. Service was fast but food was subpar. Portions were not what they used to be and the hamburgers didn't look much better than fast food. Also the waitress was rushing us, I kept asking for a min to look at the menu as I had to take care of the kids first, after coming back 3 times within 5 minutes asking if we were ready I finally got so frustrated I ended up just having a coffee! read more

I come here every Thursday for lunch and it is usually a no doubt 5 star! Typically it is a full house on Thursday for the lunch rush and the staff and management handle the crowd very well. We just ate here on a Friday night, And it was awful! None of us got refills, we asked for our bread about 5 times, our food took about 45 mins to come out, everything was cold with small portions. The waitress we had was young and yes, she was struggling. BUT this falls 100% on the management... the manager sat there and watched her struggle. Not once did he attempt to help. Someone at our table ordered a Grilled Chicken Salad (Dinner Portion) she got her salad 15 minutes after everyone's meals came out and it was a small house salad. We finally called the manager over, when we explained everything that happened his response was "ok, would you like me to bring out chicken for your salad?"... Not once did we receive an apology or an option to make things right... Long story short, Terrible management and a ton of opportunity to turn these situations around.... read more

I worked here for almost two years. If that causes a "conflict of interest," so what? I last worked there in 2009, but I go there maybe once every two months or so to eat since their food is so good! You can fully gorge yourself and spend less than $12 for a full meal (under $10 for some meals including drink). The service with your server can be hit-or-miss, and if you get a server with no or few stars on his/her apron, they are newer but still efficiently trained. If you get a four-star server, you will get experienced and prompt service. Some of the older servers have been there for over 10 years, and if a young server sucks, they won't be there long. A manager will always be around if needed All of their food is fresh and of high quality and quantity. Their macaroni and cheese, chicken dumplings, and mashed potatoes are much favored items. And, the food IS fresh everyday. Nothing comes out of the box, and everything is made from scratch throughout the day. They have a wide menu that includes everything from chicken, burgers, steak, ham, fish, pork, and a ton of side items. It would be nice if they served alcohol, because if they did, I'd probably still be working there. But, it's a quaint family restaurant... not really a place you and the guys would go to have a loud meal. read more
