My friends love Cracker Barrell's breakfast. I told myself I would check this place out someday, somehow. Fastforward 7 years later... I bookmarked Cracker Barrel when I planned my trip to Scottsdale for Christmas. What a cute restaurant. The restaurant looks so cozy and it has adorable store. Holiday sampler n' cinnamon biscuit breakfast ($8.49): basically sunrise sampler with no additional charge for the cinnamon drop biscuit. It came with 2 eggs, hashbrown casserole, thick cut Hickory-smoked bacon, country ham & smoked sausage, coarse-ground grits, fried apples, buttermilk biscuit & gravy and double-glazed cinnamon drop biscuit. I am seriously full just thinking about it. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the sausage and hashbrown casserole were delicious. I liked both my biscuit with gravy and cinnamon drop biscuit. You have the choice of country style ham or sugar cured ham. We got both of them and I honestly can't remember which one I liked more. The service was great, friendly and helpful! My daughter and I came in lastnight. Cracker barrel has always been a favorite. It has definitely gone downhill. Our last experience wasn't good but I thought I'd try again. Bad choice. I never got my salad before my meal. My meal came not as ordered. When it came back from kitchen it was burnt but cold. I couldn't eat it. Had to ask multiple times to other staff for more dressing to eat atleast the salad. Ranch was watery and flavor was different. My daughter bit into something hard in her chicken breast. The waitress got upset with us because we told her what was wrong. She didn't offer us something else. And didn't have a manager even come to the table. Never came for refills and again got upset because I asked her for refills. At the register she asked how our meal was. Although I was honest. Nobody wanted to get a manager. Absolutely worst Thanksgiving meal I have ever had. My son and I ordered 2 thanksgiving meals since I don't have friends or family here. spent over 30 bucks, and what we got was literally prison food if not worse!! This place is THE worst. I went to pick up a to-go order in the afternoon and I literally had to stand there and wait for 45 minutes, while they repeatedly lied to me, starting around 15 minutes in, telling me that it would be ready in around another "5 more minutes". Friday dinner- we had the strangest experience. We didn't see our favorite greeter- Jeanette (hope I spelled her name correctly). She is always so happy, friendly, nice. Though- once at the table; had a strange experience. Waitress only continued to fill my husband's ice tea. Never once asked me if I wanted more hot tea. Had a different worker take back a mini syrup bottle; when it could have been used. Just for asking for Sugar-Free syrup bottle. While ordering- asked for crispy bacon & the cheese to be exchanged. Waitress told me: "I already put in for the bacon to be crispy & they're not going to be happy about that. They don't/won't do the change of cheese too." Then asked for a spoon. It was brought. The waitress surprised us; reaching across & put it into the bowl for us. WOW- never had that. The only warmest item of food brought to us; was the loaded fries. We use to eat there often. First of all we got there and the food is disappointing. There burgers suck all they taste like is salt and they are over cooked and the bun is very ripped. And when I asked them for just pickles on the burger all they gave me was mayonnaise. Next on to the mac and cheese it is disgusting and It tastes like the ikea one and the cheese sause is not even sticking to the macaroni. as a long haul driver went to all location in USA.All about the same,the store is the draw.But no oatmeal,no blueberrie muffins,stingy with jelly.I say they are just lazy,but convienent.The staff is ok,the cook needs to be replaced.They use tiny eggs, all potato items and toast are hard or over cooked. Have at least 20 fans going,say they can't control temperature.They had a tree bent over one space,broke my van rear window,they didn't even come outside to look at it.But Mom likes this place so I put up with it.Shows the trend to just no care about service,customers,food quality,etc. Nostalgia in store items also a draw.Seems like we are grasping for anything to give us a little pleasure.I don't need the ritz,but really always leave grumbling. read more

I haven't had a sit-down meal at Cracker Barrel for years so can't comment about an in-house experience. However I did get Holiday Meal to take home for Thankgiving. Have to say, no thanks will be given. The two turkey breasts were okay if a little dry. The mashed potatoes were bland and under cooked. The yam casserole was too sweet and had the texture of baby food. The cornbread stuffing was the worst - a grayish glop over flavored with basil powder as the only seasoning. Now I'm stuck with a bunch of leftovers (guests weren't gobbling it down either) that will probably end up in the garbage bin. Beware! read more

We tried to go to dinner here. We have been coming to this place for years. We got seated right away. Then nothing for 10 minutes. No one even acknowledged us. We saw many waitresses walk by. I went to the hostess stand to ask if we had a waitress. She stated she would get her. Then she came to our table to say the waitress would be right there. Nothing again. We finally asked a waitress if she was ours. She says no - pointing to someone else- that she was our waitress. The person was taking a drink order for people that had barely sat down. I especially like the chicken pot pie, because it is always big and hot and usually too much for me to eat. I have been there twice this past month. Both times were FABULOUS! It was a party of 7 and one of 8. Our waitresses did a great job with no errors. Food was especially tasty and hot and delivered quickly. We enjoyed the checkout and the shopping opportunities. Now I've only been to a Cracker Barrel a few different times in a few different states and I haven't been disappointed. So I figured I would write a review on this one since it's where I live. This location was full of friendly staff that were very sweet to my daughter from the first shop to the restaurant. The food was delicious and there were no complaints from my family except that the portions were very large (good thing in my book lol). But had some family out that has never been before and figured this was a great place to take them. They definitely will be back the next time they visit. Our server Savannah was so patient with us. I had to change my order twice and she patiently updated my order and guess what, she got everything right. She came check on us a few times but not excessive amount. So we were able to have dinner comfortably. Her tone of voice was very smoothing. Next time you go, ask for Savannah. She's great. We went there Friday night. Maybe that is when she works. Food is ok. Nothing exceptional. But great customer service always makes dinner experience better. read more

The worst experience I've ever had and absolutely disgusting french toast. I've eaten here many times and it's usually above amazing. However it's been a while almost a year and the french toast came out scrambled eggs and had the worst taste like sour taste and gross. And I had the chicken fried steak like I always get and the gravy tasted like raw flour.... Nothing else but raw flour.no salt, no pepper, no butter, not delicious grease fat, nothing but raw flour! The server never came back, (I guess no one teaches the 2 min or 2 bite rule anymore). So I had to flag the manager down explained the situation and she had the food remade.... Well when it came back it looked better she dropped off and left. It wasn't better it was absolutely disgusting. The manager never cr back either. So we got the checks paid and left. My wife loves this place, me not so much. The food is okay but nothing special. I have recently ordered food to go and each time the order was wrong or incomplete. This morning I ordered chicken fried steak, eggs over medium, crispy hash browns and grits. What I got was eggs over easy, they were so runny I almost threw up. They gave me 3 servings of gravy and no grits or hash browns. The server who gave me my order claimed she checked and everything was correct, what a lie. I will never eat here again. What a waste of money I should have went to McDonald's at least you can count on getting what you ordered. I guess takeout customers are lowest priority, why not they don't notice the problem until it's too late. I wish I could give negative star ratings. Why do I think things would change? I told the person who took my order that there is always a problem with my order. Ugh! I had 2 gift cards. They were more than 2 years old, so I went on line and checked to see if they were ok. My $10 gift card didn't have a pin, so I called the number for painless gift cards. The number said it was not acceptable. The website told me my $25 gift card with a 3 digit pin was good. I went to the restaurant and ate. Time to pay: they tell me I need a 4 digit pin, which it didn't have. So I paid $52 for the meal. Add insult to injury, the food was awful. read more

When I arrived 20 minutes early I checked in online. 10 minutes after food was supposed to be brought to my vehicle I had to call to have them bring out my food, that was COLD!!!! I have always enjoyed eating at Cracker Barrel. Their location in north Phoenix is near Interstate 17 and Loop 101 near the Castle. You need to drive around the freeway to access the large parking lot. This location is similar to most with a large country store and restaurant. Even on a busy Sunday morning, our party was seated fast. Very hot coffee came fast with a huge menu full of very reasonably priced Southern food. The dining room is very country and very loud. For breakfast I had biscuits and gravy with Bacon and fried apples. This large meal was on the "lighter appetites" menu and was very delicious and filling. My friends enjoyed their large breakfast plates. Service is fast and friendly even with several young and very picky eaters. You can buy a lot of country stuff in the gift shop, although most of it is pretty overpriced. They have a great selection of candy and soda too. Overall it's a great place for a meal on your trip or just after church. read more

We've been coming to Cracker Barrel for decades and today was our last visit. We've noticed the quality of food,portion size and service has been going down for years but today tops it all. First I ordered the yogurt & granola meal which I've ordered for years but waitress says we got rid of that we have a new menu. Ok that sucks but whatever....so I order and say plz add a blueberry muffin which everyone knows they have the best blueberry muffins in the world...waitress says we got rid of that too. Good lord now I'm annoyed and food comes and looked pathetic. The hash brown casserole literally looked like the cook took a measuring cup and flipped it on the plate and the scrambled eggs, or should i say scrambled EGG, looked pathetic. This location is especially busy, and the two visits we have had here there was a small wait. No more than 10 minutes. No big deal, we browsed all the sweet things that are bad for you in the lobby store. Once seated, we perused the old time country news menus. If you enjoy comfort food, this is the place for you. Grab a hand truck, because after eating here it helps to get me to the car! Last night I enjoyed the chicken tenderloins, which are essentially high end chicken nuggets. Well prepared (fried) with at least six plump chicken pieces, I received a small side of BBQ for dipping. Perfect. With each dinner entree you receive your choice of three sides, and tonight I chose mac n' cheese, sweet corn, and steamed broccoli. Everything was great, and my wife and dad had similar experiences with their entrees. The great menu item here is the lemon pepper trout...fresh and moist with just the right amount of spice. My wife enjoys this dish every time we visit, and it is consistently prepared well. And for my dad, the roast beef pot roast with gravy and mashed potatoes. Food coma engage for sure on this one! He loves eating here, as it reminds him of his late wife's cooking...so nice. Soft drink refills were spot on, and my dad's coffee received several warm ups as well. I was remiss in getting our servers name, but she was friendly and attentive. This seems to be the standard, as we have dined here twice and at the Yuma location at least a half dozen times. My husband and I usually come for lunch because until today, this was the best Cracker Barrel in the area. We rarely go out for breakfast because I am allergic to eggs. However, restaurants in the Midwest were good at working around my allergies. This morning my husband had a procedure and was groggy but hungry. First I couldn't understand the waitress and my husband usually translates for me either verbally or ASL. I tried to ask about substituting meat for eggs, protein for protein. They can't. But understood nothing else. My husband who's hearing is perfect didn't understand. She didn't repeat. She had a huge attitude. My husband ordered, I drank my soda. She would come back to the table and acknowledge him, but not me. I left the restaurant in tears and my husband finished his meal while I sat in the car and read. I came here for breakfast and ordered the Mommas French Toast. Seriously the best french toast I have ever had...even...SHHH don't tell grandma...but yes better than my grandmas! Headed here for a good old fashioned breakfast, since they are one of our go to places. Pretty standard location for the chain with the country store up front to look through if there is a wait. We were fortunate enough to get seated right away. Our waitress came over within a minute or two to take our order. Food came out within 7-10 minutes after, so not long to wait at all. Everything was made as requested. The only real complaint we have is the eggs. It seems that they probably cook them to order in the pan and that they continue to cook on the plate, which means they are going to overcook just a touch. Not really a big thing. There was a bit of the line at the cash register, but the place is always busy in the mornings, so this wasn't too surprising! After being in California way too long I'm really missing country cooking ...this was my first stop when I was heading east recently on an RV trip. Had a delicious meatloaf dinner with 3 delicious country vegetables and all the fixings. The next morning it was eggs & country ham for breakfast. Ruined my mothers day and many others. We put in an order and my husband sat there for 3 hours waiting after original pick up time.. Awful customer service.. nobody gave any idea when orders would be done. He and many others got tired of waiting and left without food in hand. They said either wait or call the 1-800 number for a refund... how nice. But all the door dash orders were ready to go. I guess their business is more valuable.
