We recently ate at the Crackin' Crab for the first time and loved it. You do pay by the pound for most items, but their seafood was reasonably priced. The spices were amazing and gave the food a great flavor with a little heat. We chose to get the family meal with extra corn and potatoes. There was plenty of food in that bag. We had exceptional service from Samantha who is a huge asset to the restaurant. Samantha made us feel welcomed and was able to answer any question we had. I used to live in the south where seafood boils were a regular and cultural event. Cracking' Crab hits the nail on the head. Sauce is really flavorful, seafood is always prepared correctly and it's just fun to eat. The scallops are little pillows of happiness soaking in the mouthwatering sauce waiting to be happily devoured. To properly devein you scrape off all of the seasoning and juices... We've ordered from here before and they were able to accommodate what we needed. We called there twice since then to see if they would be able to accommodate the order like last time which was crab only but to cook it in a fresh new pot of water (They cook all the seafood in the same pots) because I'm allergic to shrimp. They have refused twice. I wish they would accommodate like they did before. I even spoke to a manager and they said they were not be able to start a new pot of water because 1. It takes too long for the water to boil. 2. Covid. Not sure what has changed since the last time I ordered but a little disappointed in that. First time here and it was Awesome. Shared a family pack with our daughter and son in law and it was the right amount of food. We were all filled without feeling stuffed. Second time eating here and both times was an excellent experience! What sets it apart from other seafood restauraunts is in the sauce. The crackin sauce is great but the lemon pepper is bomb! On the first visit the waitress offered for us to sample the sauces and I was immediately sold. At first I was totally confused about the menu online but when we went in it was happily explained to us. My mom came with us on the second visit and she opted for the shrimp basket which she loved. Excellent seafood place, this location gave us fantastic customer service, the seafood was good to very good and the place is spotlessly clean. You should study the website or ask an experiences customer before you go, its a bit different from your average seafood restaurant. The seafood is ordered by the pound (keep in mind that the shells are very heavy so they make up a lot of the weight of the order, as an example, for us a one pound order of King Crab is only three crab legs), the tables are covered in butcher paper and the car is brought out in a plastic bag accompanied by a bucket. The idea is that this is like an authentic American Crab Boil where the shellfish is dumped on the table (hence the butcher paper covering the table) you then dig in with your hands (there are no utensils but there are two different tools for cracking the crab shells open) and then place the spent shells in the bucket that was placed on your table. Its a fun and authentic experience, the seafood tastes good and the ambiance is suitably accommodating. Their Cracking' Sauce is good but for some people its spicier than usual so ask for a taste before you decode on which one you want. The cocktail sauce is tasty and suits the batter on the shrimp quite well. I also suggest ordering the sauce on the side for any order. Usually the entire bag of shellfish is covered in the sauce which is pretty and is the authentic way to serve a proper crab boil but if the sauce is a bit much for you then you're stuck with it for the entire meal. You're better off with it on the side so you an dip as you go. The only downsides are that: the sauces a bit too spicy (order one level down from what you typically order or ask for a sample to be sure), its expensive to very expensive (but thats the cost of decent seafood since global warming has dramatically reduced the crab catch each year) and there is just a little too much old time music (Big Band, Frank Sinatra, etc.) that rotates through their playlist which is a bit distracting the the place is otherwise quiet. The staff is friendly, professional and helpful, to both newcomers as well old timers, it was like being greeted to a family gathering. If you like shellfish, definitely try this place out, its quite good and satisfies the seafood craving in you. read more

The only reason it gets one star is because of the service. The guy was nice. This place is terrible. I am a business owner and never would I expect to be treated this way. The picture in the bucket is what we ate, the bottom of the bucket is barely touched. The second picture is the food we had left over... why??? Because the shrimp was over cooked, the scallops were super squishy, the whole meal had NO FLAVOR. The crab legs had no meat in them. We ordered hot and it had no spice what so ever!!!! When I confronted the owner, she said I'm sorry I guess it just wasn't what you were expecting! Definitely wasn't!!! Yet, No discount was applied. I had to call her over again, she then gave me 5 dollars off. I'm not looking for a free meal, but come on.. if you leave that much food something is wrong. I work in the industry and have for a long time. I had to call her over a third time. At that point, she brought her other manager, I explained to them that I didn't like it. The manager said, "Well I guess if you don't like it, you won't be coming back!" You are right, not being treated like this I wont. She said, "Good, we don't want you to come back!" I even offered to pay half when I shouldn't have paid anything.... Really, I am a restaurant owner and I would be doing anything to get the customer to come back. So I said, "Wow. Really?? This is how you treat someone? She said, I don't need your business, we do pretty good!" Hmmmm that explains why your restaurant is empty! They told me I'm making them lose money by asking for a discount. Wow!!!!! Stay far far away from this establishment, do not spend your money here!!!! I was not impressed. Expensive for buying a pound. The shrimp was bland, crumbled into nothing when taking a bite. The crab did not look or taste clean. I've had way better at other places. On a good note the server was nice. And did gave a refund for the shrimp that was left. Hope they make a few changes and improve the quality of the food. Maybe hire a new cook. read more

Tried this place a couple of different times now hoping it would get better but it didn't. The seafood is not fresh! Got the peel and eat shrimp and snow crab legs on two different occasions. The shrimp were mushy and hard to peel and the crab legs tasted old and fishy. Also the sauce is too oily and less flavorful compared to other chains that this place mimics. I love crab; I love shrimp; I love scallops. In fact, I don't think there is a seafood that I don't like. But, the prices here are out of sight. We were seated promptly (at 3:30 p.m., it wasn't hard to get a table), and the server was Johnny-on-the-spot. We were looking at the prices and I was having heart palpitations, but saw that we could order a pre-priced combo for $44.00 with shrimp, scallops, and crab. The server talked me into Dungeness crab rather than snow crab, which apparently changed the pricing structure to individual items rather than the combo. We also ordered one extra potato and one extra corn (two people, you know). The fried calamari appetizer was huge, and the calamari were delicious, but I don't think that it was worth $10.00. Daughter took half of it home with her. The "lightest" spicy boil - the mild lemon-pepper, was extremely spicy. Be warned: if you can't abide very spicy food, just ask for butter. I do not understand why the shrimp can't be peeled and deveined before they are placed in the boil--sitting at the table attempting to devein hot (temperature-wise) shrimp, while the other food is getting cold, is not very pleasant, nor is it conducive to a pleasant experience. If I can buy peeled and deveined shrimp at the grocery, I should be able to get them here. All that said, the shrimp, Dungeness crab, and scallops were delicious. Since we ate so much calamari, I managed to bring a bunch of the seafood home - shrimp and scallops were on my home menu the next night, and I served them over white rice. Warning: IF you take a portion of your dinner home, know that when you take it from the fridge, there will be a THICK layer of fat on top of the sauce. The service was good, the food was good. It is just too darned expensive. We've done that once, and MIGHT do it again for a special occasion. I don't anticipate that this place will last very long. read more

Went to Crackin' Crab for an early dinner. Was our first time going so we did not know what to expect. Our server Noy was very knowledgeable and gave us time to decide what to order. We ordered lobster, mussels and clams, with the special house sauce which was delicious! Noy also let us try the lemon pepper sauce which was good too. Our bag of goodness also came with corn, potato and sausage. We just dug in as everything was marinated in the bag. Well worth the price. Hadn't had yummy seafood like that in a long time read more

I'm sad to say this place was a big disappointment. For starters, the wait time for the meal was ridiculous. We came on a Sunday at lunch time and were one of the only people there at first. It's seemed unreasonable for the other tables to get served before us when we were there first. Yes we had a party of 10, but it only involved 3 family bags. Not that complicated. On top of that, 2 of the 3 bags were supposed to be seasoned with lemon pepper instead of the Cajun spices and you had to pick between mild, medium, or hot. We picked mild and there was nothing mild about it. It was so hot! And definitely didn't taste like lemon. I saw one small quarter of a lemon in the bag. It was so over seasoned and covered in grease that you couldn't even enjoy the seafood. And I paid $45 for that? Oh boy. A side note: The family bag comes with 1 half of a corn cob (terribly overcooked), 1 miniature red potato, and 1 small sausage. If you want more corn or potatoes it's 75 cents per item. The sausage was about $2, but at least it did taste good. I know it's a seafood boil concept, but I really wished they would have had better napkins and real silverware. We were all a mess afterward. I saw some smart customers bring their over gloves to wear during the meal. Not a bad idea. They do have sinks to wash up with afterwards so I guess that was thoughtful. FYI the bathrooms don't have a baby changing table and there were lots of families with little ones there and I know we had to get creative on the floor for our daughter. Yuck! The only thing that I can say was good was our waitress. She was very attentive and kept up with drinks. They don't have their liquor license yet, but at least they will at some point. I was always planning to visit but other location was far from where I live. This one opened pretty recently and was only about 10 min drive away from our home so I visited with my mom who really like seafoods. We got oysters and Combination (crabs, corn, sausage, etc.) with their sauce and gotta say we loved it. It was mildly spicy - just how I asked, seafoods were all cooked properly which is very important thing especially during summer to prevent any food related health complication. Corn was delicious but sauce didn't really get into potato, however, in some ways it helped my tongue dealing with salty spicy goodness so I didn't mind much. They also offer to switch it to corn if customers ask which I think is considerate. The overall size was bit smaller than I expected (I used to go to Boiling Crab when I lived at California so the size comparison is when compared to Boiling Crab) for the price but it was just enough for two adult (and it's New Mexico not East/West Coast so...). I think the combination menus are designed for about two adults, three at max if side dished are ordered. Oysters were also very fresh when we visited compared to the other seafood restaurants we visited before. They had some extra things added to Oyster so it boosted the flavor. Interior was clean, server was enthusiastic :) they also have separate sink just for washing hands- very convenient. Overall, absolutely recommended and we will visit again! read more

It was good but not what I expected. This restaurant is "hands on". You don't have a plate as you use your hands to eat. I had blue crab and Wendy had shrimp with the heads. You get the whole fish delivered in plastic bags. We got crackers to break open the shell and with a tool to scoop the meat out, you eat. Same with the shrimp. I was not prepared for that! I ordered crab legs and calamari to go. I ordered medium heat, it was hot! The service was excellent. I received a text when my order was ready. I was able to pick it up safely on the patio. The staff went over my order before I left and offered napkins, etc. That was a nice change. Nothing is worse than getting home and your to go order is wrong. We enjoyed our dinner and would definitely order again. But, we will get mild spice, lol. Please don't forget to tip, even on a to go order. read more
