This is my third time grabbing takeout at the Alexandria location within the past six months. Today, was not good. I don't know what happened, but my catfish was bland, shrimp undercooked (how do you do that?), and everything was super greasy. Prior to this last visit, I would give it a 5. But I don't have any plans of going back anytime soon. read more

Boom!!!!! This place is dynamite! I came here about a week ago and am still daydreaming about the delicious meal I had. I had ordered the 1lb of steamed shrimp with Boom Sauce, along with two side dishes. They arrived in an inflated bag to my table. The flavor is as amazing as all the hype. Huge good quality fresh shrimp in the best sauce. Reasonable prices. I came in around mid afternoon. Very satisfying and filling meal. I had key lime pie for dessert- the slice is on the small side. The only place that compares to this in the area that I know of is Shrimp Lovers in Sterling (which has higher prices). Sadly, we were the only diners here. First of all they parking is a shit show. I got towed when I left the restaurant pining up food. It took awhile to get our food so we went ahead and preferred the food as soon as possible and no parking at the garage so I parked across the street just to pick up/ take out. Come out and car is gone. There is no where to park for pick up. By the time of getting an Uber and getting to the tow yard to pick up the car. From $340 worth of food and $160 for the tow. As a native Marylander, I am picky with my seafood. Unfortunately my experiences here have never been consistent - sometimes stellar and sometimes downright disappointing. Tonight tipped the scale to the point where I'm not sure if we will return. The flavour was great but unfortunately my bag was mostly shell with little meat and my partner's bag only had one set of legs with the same issue. I get that the portions are done by weight, but I felt we were mostly charged for the shell. I saw the sign on the door saying to check the order before you left, but it was raining and I was in a rush. The sign makes me think skimping is a consistent issue. So although I've had a few great experiences to sate my seafood mood, the majority haven't been up to par. I recommend Quarterdeck or Hook and Reel (which is further from me but I've found has better service and portion). read more

took our server 16 min to greet us, only after we said something about it to the host stand. after waiting that long, our server came over and said "it's been 3 minutes" .. 20 minutes later, we finally got drinks. took 30 min for 3 beers. servers name was derrick. he was trying to crack jokes the entire time as if he wasn't rude to begin with and didn't take forever to get to us. we arrived at 7:16(time i joined the waitlist) and didn't leave until after 9pm because everything took so long. sure he didn't care considering gratuity is added automatically for 6+, nothing was comped from the check, we'd asked for 1 more beer and he rang in 2, brought them as we packed up so they didn't get drank and one was spilled into my boyfriends seafood boil so he didn't take it with us. coming from a table of servers and bartenders, a 2 hour dinner was insane and it was mostly because of lack of service. service is bad every time we go, but this was 100% the worst experience and we go 1-2 times a month. his name was DERRICK in case anybody gets him. :) read more

Now it"s 15 minutes. and we will haven't gotten any type of service or water. CELL phone on a cell phone they kept on going at it. Then one of them got on their phone chatting away. Like seriously I don't care if you are busy or something important. If it is important, don't even bother coming to work at all. You can do that on your own time. If you are at a restaurant working. You are supposed to do your job. To earn tips is to make sure your guests are happy. Then finally I got the food after 25-35 minutes of waiting. Wait... but how did I order? I had to call the restaurant that IM sitting in the store! Then finally flagged down a server to go get to us. How embarrassing is that? so I ordered and the server who was on their phone was knowledgeable on the menu, but still... she could've greeted us before doing something else. and isn't it common sense to not use your phone at work or in front of your guests? When the food came out. I was very happy. I was originally going to give 1-2 stars but ill give it 3 because of the quality and how awesome the sauce was. I hope now the management or owner changed the service and team to gain more But note this was about 4-5 months ago. so I'm posting this to at least ensure the owners are aware of this and please keep it consistent with the food quality and sauce. Horrible service and sub par food. Waitress was awful. We ordered the largest platter on the menu with mild spice and recieved medium (even said so on the receipt). Half of group weren't able to eat, and the half of us that did were never given a water refill after our food was delivered. For 30 mins we tried to get her attention but we were ignorned. Took another 15 mins to get a check and that was only because we flagged a hostess down. As a former waitress I am usually understanding, but this was just awful. They ignored me and tried to help another black lady- I'm not one who gives a F about race, but I will stand up for myself when I get skipped in line. So I told them, hey- I was here first. Customer service: front of house was quick and easy. They take your temperature on your hand which was the best part. After that it seems the experience went downhill. We waited for like 15mins just get someone to take our order and get basic hydration. No one should have to wait 15 minutes just to get water. Our server who ended up being our bartender (Alexis) to take our order which seem to put her behind with her other duties. Taking care of the bar and tables is no easy task and should be left to one person. Shoutout to Alexis who did her best, but expected better service from the reviews. We just about to get ready to leave an go elsewhere when she came around. Alexis made our drinks and they were delicious, she was friendly, but extremely busy at the same time (forgetful at times). Side note took the same amount of time to get the check and leave the restaurant. Overall a bad taste left in my mouth from the service and not the food. This is an excellent place for lunch. I ordered from them recently on Grubhub. I got a fried catfish basket ($15.99), a crawfish platter ($14.50), and some Dr. Pepper ($2.99). The sales tax was $3.68, the delivery fee was $2.49, the service fee was $1.76, and the tip for the driver was $8.28. The meal was excellent. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The fried catfish (with tartar sauce and hush puppies) was very good if you are into southern cooking. The crawfish (medium spicy, Cajun seasoning, tartar sauce) was a spicy boil you would find in places like Georgia. I do not like paying all the Grubhub fees. I am on Franconia about a mile west of Telegraph, and the meal was here in a reasonable time. No complaints. read more

I was so excited to try Crafty Crab tonight. I placed my order through Uber Eats. I know it's NYE and busy, but three drivers came and went because the food was t ready. Luckily I called, and the person I spoke with said she told the driver they couldn't fulfill my order. Not sure which of the three drivers she told, but this is unacceptable that the restaurant didn't call me or UberEats and instead let me waste an hour thinking my food was being prepared. Don't visit this place. My girlfriend was in line- trying to get a table for us. Several people came in after us and people were asking if I was in line? I said, no, go ahead, waiting on my gf in line. I noticed that we were the only whites in this place (which I don't give a shit about), but the 'fake' security guard seemed to think so.
