Unfortunately we went there for breakfast. ALL 3 orders came with crunchy under cook hash brown potatoes, when we told the waitress she offered to replace him with home fries, or if you wanted hashbrowns we explained that we prefer the hashbrowns, the order was placed for the hashbrowns. 30 minutes later, no hashbrowns when we asked on the status, two orders of hashbrowns were brought to the table versus three. All we're still undercooked. She also mentioned she would discount our bill, but that didn't happen. read more

This is not a frittata. A frittata is an Italian quiche. Kinda like a egg pie. What I received was a scramble egg with toppings and unmelted cheese. I asked the waitress what happened to my frittata and she said no that's how we make it. Then don't have frittata on the menu. I would have gotten a sandwich instead. Also the wait time for anyone to acknowledge us was ridiculous. It took 20 minutes for someone to ask us what we wanted to drink and Another 30 for the waitress to take our order. This place is really nice but it lack service skills. Manager is not so open and friendly. The place looked so busy but they could use some retraining on customer service. So I assumed she got the other because why else would you leave... needless to say she got it wrong 2 times. it took about 30 mins to have them take our food order and Another 40 mins to get our food. Before starting to eat my burger I cut it down the middle. So I take one half...As I'm making my way to way to eat the second portion I find a hair in my burger which I pulled out. To some a hair may be no big deal, but.. that just means who ever is prepping and handling food may not be wearing a hair net. Server did offer to remove it from my bill and make me another burger which I declined simply because I was disgusted. Would I try them again?yes. Overall, they use a lot more butter than I thought necessary. Their tastes were very pronounced and I found them too busy to really care. Also, everything was quite greasy. If I could put 0 stars I would. I definitely don't recommend this place at all! I typically don't write reviews but I had to. We got there at 10:30, we got our coffees, we waited another 30 mins for our waiter to get our order and about 45 mins or more to get our food. Our waitress not once did she come to us asking if we wanted more coffee or if we were doing okay. The place was not busy at all and they had plenty of employees to attend us well but that was not the case. When we finally got our food, everything was cold!!! Wth! As I was eating my food there was a hair! Just everything from the get go was horrible and ridiculous! We were very upset how we were getting treated. never again will we go to this restaurant. I just had breakfast there this morning and couldn't enjoy the meal because I was getting attacked under the table with these mosquitoes. I finally had to cut my breakfast sort and ask for the check. This is the only place to get a MEXICAN PIZZA around here now. It's not on the menu anymore but if you ask nicely they'll make it on special request. It's the size of an entire plate and LOADED with meat, topped with guac and sour cream, and there's Cholula at the table. I highly suggest the carnitas for it. My wife prefers chicken. I'm a bit of a food snob, and I honestly feel the Mexican Pizzas from here are somewhere in a nebulous Top 10 Dishes I've ever eaten. Well if you dine at Crest Cafe, you'll get just that. Kimberly is by far the BEST team member at Crest Cafe, however, her teammates offer great service as well; Kimberly's is exemplary! So many people walk by and never poke their head in, they simply go next door to Pepetoe's which isn't all that but I digress; if you choose to dine at Canyon Crest, the portions here are quite filling. You'll most certainly need a box to take home left overs unless you don't mind stuffing yourself to the gills. Kimberly makes a mean cocktail, very tasty and she is full of recommendations; she remembers frequent diners which is a nice touch whether you're a local or not. Dishes can be altered and made spicer or milder to your liking, they have a full bar including wine, they offer take out which is nice during covid, their busboy hustles and you notice them cleaning after every diner, the restaurant is clean with no odors, when dining you never feel rushed, the staff is very patient and accommodating; its as if you're at home then when dinner is ready everyone goes to the table. There's outdoor seating available as well as indoor dining. The restaurant is spacious so you're not sitting on top of other diners and you're able to have an actual conversation. We have never had a bad meal here, nor bad service. I've dined here several times and each time I get that warm and fuzzy feeling of "I like coming here" its a place you don't mind recommending to friends, family or colleagues and that you wouldn't mind taking a date or when someone poses the question, any ideas where we should go, this place will most certainly come to mind. read more

This was the early afternoon of 7/29/24. Absolutely lousy service, the attitude of the waitress serving us was lazy and passively rude. A different lady initially served us water and before she walked off just stared at my sister with a blank expression for a moment which was weird. Then when our server approached us her attitude was not friendly or warm it was like we were bothering her. I asked about a drink and she CUT ME OFF saying that they don't have a bartender and she shrugged like " oh well ". When our food came she dropped it and literally ran off did not ask if "everything looks okay? Can I get you anything else?" She didn't come back to our table I had to call her over for items we needed while she tried to ignore us. I don't know what we did from entering and sitting down to make her behave so rude. Aside from bitter server, the food was absolute crap as well, the atmosphere is cluttered and drab seems like everyone who works there is severely unhappy. From the outside it looks like it has great potential to be a cute neighborhood restaurant / bar but not with bitter attitudes like that. I've dined at the Crest Cafe a few times now and have decided it was about time I review this place! Located in the Canyon Crest Towne Centre, Crest Cafe gets good foot traffic especially on weekend mornings. I love going to this place for brunch as I live close-by since I go to UCR. I've never had to wait to be seated here, they also have outdoor seating, and they're also pet friendly! The service here is great! You are greeted and seated quickly and they don't forget about you even if you sit outside. I ordered a mimosa (cause I wasn't driving! Haha) and the biscuits and gravy, which also comes with eggs and potatoes. The food was great; nothing mind-blowing, but everything you would want out of your brunch. This is a great location for breakfast/brunch if you live in the local area, but nothing to drive 20+ miles for. I still love the place, the food, the service and its charm. The ambiance really needs updating. It looked like it had not changed in 15 or more years. There were like 4 waitresses serving our table and it was so slow! Only 1 other table of folks. The food was good! Fried zucchini was ok. Over cooked and dark brown. The breakfast burrito with red onions was terrific! And the chicken nachos were so huge and delicious! Service and food were on point. I probably should have asked zucchini to be recooked but was not in a Karen mood!! They were still good just over cooked but man the menu has everything, American, Mexican, breakfast, and more! Give this place a chance! I LOVE breakfast food, specifically French toast and biscuits and gravy. The French toast is good but not perfect. The platter is a great bargain because you get all of the breakfast essentials. The French toast itself has great flavor but is sometimes inconsistent. Some of the halves will be fluffy, some will be soggy and fall apart easily. While we are all loyal to maple syrup, I recommend trying the boysenberry syrup. IT'S LITERALLY A LIFE CHANGER!!! The biscuit and gravy I ordered was pretty good...just pretty good. The gravy had a good consistency but felt like it was missing some flavor. The buscuit it's self was a little tough rather than an easy crunch. Service is great. We took my grandmother here on Mother's Day. The restaurant itself is not being upheld. The booths are are falling apart and the ventilation is not very good. The hostess shoved us in the back corner, which would have been fine except it was Mother's Day... and we wanted it to be nice for my mother and grandmother. We politely asked if there was another place we could sit. From that point on, the waitstaff ultimately ignored us. They let us sit for 30 minutes without taking our order, it wasn't very busy in the joint yet either. It was 9am. They took 15 minutes to bring a coffee. My grandma chose to get up and flag the waitress down herself. The food itself was good; but the service, non-existent. It was a hard and uncomfortable thing for us not to tip. The waitresses took it upon THEMSELVES to add a tip of their very own. Put a 1 in front of the zero, AND changed the the total. Unbelievable behavior... that's theft. It wasn't an easy decision to not leave a tip, but after being ignored, when our orders DID get taken: The waitress was incredibly short and rude... I thanked her over and over, but she just seemed like she hated her job. I just can't believe they added their own tip in, in order to STEAL. Be wary of this place. read more

I've been here many times over the last few years, but I felt more inclined to write a review after my visit today! Outdoor dining is hit or miss nowadays. Crest Cafe has a nice setup with a fountain right next to the area, and they recently installed some shade covers because 100+ degree weather isn't for everyone. First and foremost, the area smelled and looked notably clean, which nowadays is a BIG plus. My boyfriend and I ordered what we typically do. I went with the grilled chicken and avocado sandwich and my boyfriend had a combination plate with two tacos and a chile relleno. The portions are generous, the service was pleasant, and the food is delicious! Hang in there Crest! You're a staple and doing a great job given the circumstances. No complaints here. read more

Came in on 4th of July for breakfast, not sure I'll ever come back. I get that it was a holiday but service was no bueno. Our waitress seemed less than enthused about being there or having to help us and while I appreciate her not coming to check in on us every 5 mins, it was a good thing we weren't in a hurry to get anywhere because we almost had to go find her when we did need help or the check. Service aside (could have been a off day), the food was bland, came to us lukewarm and not worth the prices. I ordered a veggie omelet, which I can only describe as wet....and I can't put my finger on why it would be wet..."juice" seeping from it but not in a pleasant way... almost like when they sautéed the spinach (possibly frozen?) or the tomatoes they didn't bother staining anything before they dumped it in? I can't even find a better way to describe it... in all the omelets I've ever ordered, I've never had one like that. The food was also bland... the omelet didn't seem to be seasoned at all. The breakfast potatoes were good though.... so there's that? For the price I wouldn't come back I don't think, least not for breakfast..may as well go to Denny's or iHop. read more
