We came here a few weeks ago during the wine and food festival. The wines were amazing, I don't usually like reds, but we left with a few bottle. The pours were a bit stingy, but with the wine and food festival going on I could understand. The music, view and ambiance were really nice, but the 5 stars is for the wines themselves. Croad Vineyards continues to impress with their amazing wines, a must stop on the West 46!

Croad Winery is set on a beautiful hill overlooking vineyards with views for miles and miles. We joined their wine club a few years ago and have enjoyed every trip to Croad since then. The people are great, the wines are great, and the atmosphere is perfect. Today was perfect as they had a barbeque with tri tip and sausages, a live band, and beautiful weather. Thank you to Martin, Nichole, and all of the staff at Croad. We appreciate that you welcome our dog as much as us. Our dog appreciates the bites of tri tip and also rates this winery 5 stars. Croad was a more or less random stop for us toward the end of the day. Beautiful tasting room on the top of a hill with absolutely spectacular views of the surrounding country. The famously Kiwi owner was there while we tasted & was happy to tell us all about the wine & how he got started in the business. I don't remember everything that we tasted, but most of it was quite good, with good fruit & excellent structure. I do remember that my favorite was the Atua cab blend (which we bought a few bottles of), and that I thought one of the two GSM blends (can't remember which) was really nice as well. My boyfriend and I just stayed at the Inn at Croad Vineyards last weekend. From the second we pulled up to the private Wine tasting room we were greatly warmly by Rosie. She poured us a glass of wine as soon as we walked in. She then took us on a tour of the Inn. OMG, it was more spectacular than I could have imaged. We lucked out and got entire inn to ourselves for the night. The view is amazing. Looks over vineyards. Martin the owner and winemaker greeted us later in the evening and showed us how to use the fireplace. What a fantastic guy. We loved the place so much we didn't even leave for dinner. Rosie made us a cheese plate and we enjoyed wine by the fireplace. The bed was awesome and super comfortable as well. When we woke up, the kitchen was fully stocked with a wonderful breakfast. What an amazing place. We will be back as soon as we can. This place rocks! read more

While touring the Paso Robles wineries yesterday my brother said we should check out some wineries that are off the main roads. So we turned up one of the side roads and I think we discovered a hidden jewel. What other winery serves you "bangers" that the owner, a Kiwi from New Zealand, is grilling on the BBQ during your tasting? The wines are excellent, we really enjoyed the 2006 Zinfandel and the 08 Grenache. The view from the winery is unmatched in Paso Robles. I highly recommend bringing a picnic lunch to eat out on the veranda while enjoying a glass of one of their wines. read more

We stayed at the inn next door to the winery and loved it. The room was absolutely beautiful and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was quite good in a beautiful common room. The views are spectacular. They gave us a complimentary tasting session plus a glass of our chosen wine with a cheese plate. Very nice. I have one suggestion. Since as a guest you are on top of the hill and far from town, it would be nice if they provided snacks and even fruit in the common room. read more

Great spot to take a day ride to the 200 other vineyard in Paso Robles, up the coast to Hearst Castle, Big Sur, Monterey and all the beauty of the Central coast. Have dinner at McPhee's Grill in Templeton; Martin will give you directions. The pork chop was outstanding and huge. Everything was delightful. We stayed over New Year's for a wedding. It was a wonderful place. Beautiful views. Excellent wine. Clean and lovely on the inside. It was like staying at a really nice home. Each room has its own bath. We really enjoyed the breakfast. Aida served us continental breakfast the first day (yummy waffles) and the second day for New Year's she served us meatball soup. It was so good! Aida was so pleasant and helpful, just really enjoyed the hospitality. Martin came and gave a toast for the bride and groom, it was all very nice and personal. Enjoyed our trip and we will definitely be back. read more

I really wanted to like Croad because it had a Kiwi thing going on with most of the wines named after New Zealand areas or Maori culture however I wasn't actually that keen on the wine. Friendly staff and beautiful grounds. $10 tasting that is waived with the purchase of two bottles however nothing really stood out as something we wanted to take home. read more

My friends and I came here on a recommendation from Eberle Winery as we were looking for Malbecs. They didn't have a malbec here however their Haka wine is bold and tasty, close enough for me! One of the prettiest wineries I've been to with a sprawling estate with a beautiful tasting room/ lobby, patio and fountain. I loved their New Zealand kiwi theme and the owner provided us with little take away kiwi temporary tattoos. Super cute! Inside the tasting room they had comfy large leather couches and high vaulted ceilings; a great airy place to relax in. The staff was friendly and not super invasive. They kinda just let us do our own thing and helped when needed. This was especially great since this was our last winery stop of the day and we were pooped! I would come back. read more

Martin the wine maker and Inn keeper could not have been more warm and inviting. Amazing views a little off the main road but the PERFECT location for dead heading from to go wine tasting. Wine and cheese in the evening and a sweet breakfast from 8-10 every day. Big rooms with private baths. We will go back agian. read more

We loved our stay at Croad, we were introduced to this beautiful place by our friends who have stayed there twice before. When we arrived, we were greeted by Marina, who poured wines for our tasting pleasure and made us a cheese platter to enjoy while sitting on their lovely patio facing a killer view. Marina helped us navigate to some of her favorite local wineries for a wonderful day of wine tasting ! We loved Croads blends, especially the cab Sauvignon/Syrah blend! Every morning at the inn you are greeted by cheerful and warm Aida, serving the best coffee, homemade bread and fresh fruit with yogurt, along with her amazing hospitality and fancy aprons! We were able to watch Martin, the owner, help another local winemaker crush their grapes using their equipment at Croad. Martin is a wonderful host and storyteller, he sat with us drinking wine together one evening telling us his story and letting us better understand his winery. Aida made a fire for us on two chilly evenings which we enjoyed after some epic dining in Templeton and Paso Robles, both a short drive from Croad. We met a lovely couple from San Diego, and others from Pennsylvania.. All in all a wonderful stay at Croad! read more

This place was kind of weird to me, can't really put my finger on it. Wine is drinkable.

Wow! We've done the B and B thing in Sonoma and this was just incredible. Let's start with the greeting. Glad you're here...have a cheese plate and a glass of wine. But since you got here after the tasting room closed, we'll just give it to you in 2/3 of a bottle of amazing "pure" zin. Then we met Martin and Brix. The proprietor/winemaker and cat (outside only) of this 4 room inn who couldn't be more friendly. Just made us feel at home and made sure we were having a great time. Breakfast--wow! Rosie puts out a spread with fruit yogurt cereal hard boiled eggs waffles cheese. It just goes on and is amazing! Got back from tasting (and kayaking--did I mention that Martin offered to lend us kayaks but we couldn't fit them on the car) the next day and Martin remembered that we were going to grill that night and we liked fish. Husband was going to drive to Trader Joe's and fish monger for dinner so we again deferred the wine glass (bottle this time was the silver fern zin) when Martin mentioned that one of his friends had just gotten back from fishing and had some extra rock fish--would we like some. Absolutely! And so we sat on the patio outside our ground level room eating fresh fish (with asparagus and avocados procured from Trader Joe's) sipping wine as the sun set over the Central Valley. Wine club has been joined (because the wine is as good as the inn) and we are planning our next trip. read more

We recently visited Croad Vineyards and were given the VIP treatment from owners, Martin & Patty Croad. Martin was kind enough to cook our group some tasty sausages while tasting their fabulous wines. He then went the extra mile by giving us a winery tour complete with barrel tastings. We had such a blast, we decided to book their 4 guest rooms to celebrate a special occasion coming up in August. The 661 red blend is an exceptional value and the hospitality is off the charts. We've been going to Paso Robles every year for the past 12 years, so it was a surprise that we had not discovered this jewel before returning this year. The property is beautiful and the view is one of the best on the west side, but the wine is really amazing. Winemaker/owner Martin Croad, who is from New Zealand, was in the tasting room and poured for us. I enjoyed the two red blends and their Zin the best. What you should know is that they were pouring wine that was actually ready to drink - all were 2010 vintages - and all would have been called "library wines" at any other winery. Amazing! He even signed the bottles we purchased. As a bonus, they also have a small Inn on the property. This venue would accommodate large parties as well as more intimate affairs and would be a beautiful place for a wedding. Basically, we can't wait to go back & picnic there. I was there last Saturday and had a very good experience. I agree the view is beautiful but I also found the wines to be very good. We were treated to a tour of the facilities and to a barrel tasting that was the best I can remember, and I've tasting wine for 32 years...So, I anxiously await coming vintages! btw- I joined the wine club for 6 bottles...an indication of the quality of wine. read more

I stayed at the Vineyard's Inn and it was amazing. You are enjoying staying at a Inn in the middle of a vineyard with the Inn keeper/Owners Martin and Patty. They make you feel like friends. The wines are delicious, the winery is beautiful and the INN is fantastic! Next time you are in Paso stop by but even better STAY at the: INN at Croad Vineyards! you will not be disappointed. Wow - my husband and I did a day of wine tasting and stopped at Croad so we could picnic there. We had the entire private patio downstairs to ourselves, and they insisted we take a glass of wine down to drink while we ate. The girl pouring our wine was really sweet and then the owner, Martin, came down with some freshly BBQ'd sausages for us to try while we were picnicking. Very nice guy, and was very appreciative of our business. We bought some wine, as we really liked what they had, especially since it was an ALL RED tasting - our favorite! And our favorite bottle was the Towhenua - really nice blend of a few varietals. All in all, a GREAT winery, beautiful views, building and patio, and really nice people there. And Great wine! Wow, a hidden gem!! My husband and I both agreed - of the many (too many!) wineries we visited while in Paso Robles, this was the only one where we loved every single wine we tried, top to bottom. This winery has a beautiful view, and I loved the fact that they do dry farming, but the staff was not very personable. They poured our wines and went on to the next customer. Would have been nice to hear a little description about each wine. The first wine (sav blanc, I think), was not very good. The rest (reds) were pretty good. Go here if you like spicy, full bodied reds. read more

We had been told by several friends to come here and we live in Paso so we finally stopped by to check it out last weekend. The service was NOT good! There were two tasting room attendants behind the bar and about 6-8 people in the tasting room. The young server (female) would pour a VERY small amount of wine and just walk away, not volunteer any info on the wine and when we tried to ask her questions it was like trying to squeeze water out of a lemon! Her boyfriend came in and she leaned across the bar to kiss him (unprofessional) and then she only wanted to talk to him. Another customer came in and stood next to us and he started commenting to us about how terrible the service was, he had to go outside to get someone to come in to help him pick up a shipment. The owner was also on the premises and came behind the bar at one point but didn't notice or seem concerned about the poor customer service. Beautiful property, good wines, but we will not return or recommend to our local friends and out of town guests. read more

At $5 per tasting, this is the best deal in the area. The views alone are worth $5. Whoever was guilty of the small pours is no longer working the bar - the pours were exactly the same as other wineries in the area. Great wine. Sangiovese is awesome. Their Zins just started winning awards. Don't skip this place. read more

The wines are okay here. They tend to be more acidic and not as well rounded. Just not my style of wines.

I stayed there with my wife for 2 nights (March 24-26). This is one of the rare cases, when you can't say anything negative about the stay, everything was top notch five star, including the location, the receptionist, the friendly and accommodating owners of this small family run inn, the nitty gritty aspects of the interior design - everything! This is definitely the place you want to get away for a couple of nights. We're definitely looking forward to visit that place once again any time soon. read more
