Martin the owner is hilarious and very friendly -- we both loved the story of the winery!

We came for pizza Saturdays and fell in love with it all. We loved the majority of the wines and walked away as members. The owner, Martin, chatted with us a bit and was very hospitable and funny. The pizza was delicious. The views were fabulous. A nature trail wraps around the property. There's an inn and other rental homes on the property - we met a couple as we were wine tasting that told us the breakfast at the Inn was AMAZING so it seems like we will have to be back to stay!

MUST STOP HERE!! This place is 10/10. We had the opportunity to stay at the inn for two nights and were already planning our return. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The wine at this boutique vineyard is delicious, bought some to take home. Last but not least we can't say enough about how friendly Martin (owner) and Julia (tasting room manager) were. Don't miss out, check this out.

This place was great! We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed our experience. We were able to drive just 30 minutes to the coast through the rolling hills. Our hosts were very kind, and the room was charming. We even had glasses of wine waiting for us upon arrival. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Prior to my wife booking our stay at Croad, I had never heard of it. You won't find their wines at any grocery store or wine store because they are a small boutique winery. Their grapes are dry-farmed (only subsisting on natural rainwater and ground water the vines can extract from their long roots). The result is a "stressed," smaller, grape that concentrates the juice which translates into a more flavor intense wine. Well it shows in their products. I have always loved a red blends and fuller wines and Croad is our first membership. They have a super cozy inn with 4 bedrooms near the tasting room (key location) and another ranch house at the entrance to the property that you can rent out for larger groups. Martin and Patty are welcoming hosts who make some pretty darn good wine. Check it out!

Ohhhh I love the wine here! So delicious and rich! What a treat to have this wine! The wine was so good that my friend signed up for the wine membership club. The view of this place is spectacular. You can sit indoors or out on the patio. One our 2nd visit, we ordered a bottle and sat on their outdoor patio. If you haven't tried Croad wine, it's worth a stop!

We stopped by during our day of wine tasting and this was our first stop. Everything was wonderful! We left with a couple bottles of vino. We will definitely be back when we visit Paso Robles again.

If I could pick my favorite wine and vineyard in Paso Robles it would have to be Croad Winery. The owner is a Kiwi from New Zealand and he does dry farming. The result is a very bold rich tasting wine unlike the others we have tried. You can make a reservation for a tasting and then get a cheese plate and enjoy the beautiful view. Martin and Patty have built beautiful grounds in the vineyard where you can sit and relax with a view of the vineyard and enjoy a tasty pizza for lunch which is made in an outdoor pizza oven. There are nature trails through the property that are nicely shaded. You can also play corn hole or bocce ball. We stayed over night in their bed and breakfast inn and had the best sleep ever in their comfy beds. Rosy took good care of us making sure we had fresh fruit and freshly brewed coffee. We joined their wine club so we will be back a lot. Thanks Martin, Patty, and Rosy for taking such good care of us on our vacation. This will be our home a way from home for many years to come. Happy Yelping!

What a great place!! First off the wine tasting is complimentary if you stay in one of their rooms!! The place is very clean and the owner Martin and his staff are amazing. Great relaxing place to stay!! Will be back down!! They have a ton of seating around the property it is great!!

Loved it! Plenty of seating, but still an intimate spot to have a sip and conversation. We were greeted when we came in, and she took us to a neat area in the back where they host weddings. Beautiful views, well maintained landscaping, tables and chairs were comfortable and clean, and she was super knowledgeable. We didn't try the cheese plate, but we brought our own food. Super cute small business-vibe with some rad wines! Will be coming back!

Accidentally found this winery while in Paso and really loved it. It's a bit of a drive to get to but the grounds are super cute and the views are spectacular. We enjoyed the wine as well. The hostess was welcoming and we just did a glass instead of a full tasting. Parking is free and easy. They also have a hotel attached in case you want to stay and relax here. Lovely spot in Paso!

We took a wine tour with Grapeline and this was by far our favorite stop. Every single wine we tasted was so good, but the Syrah and Zinfandel were incredibly delicious. We ended up ordering a glass of each to enjoy on top of our tastings. And yes, we ended up taking a few bottles home. The views at Croad are just beautiful. The service was friendly and we were helped by everyone working the day that we went. I highly recommend stopping here and trying what they have to offer.

Detracting half a star to the overall review for: confusion on check-in & overnight dog barking. Upon arrival, We walked in with another couple, and there wasn't anyone to greet us for about 5 to 10 minutes. The other couple texted, called without connection. There were no instructions on checking in either. So we were just confused together for a while until our host appeared. In addition, a dog was barking intermittently the whole night, for both nights that we stayed. So that detracted a little but overall a good experience and would recommend.

It's beautiful, modern and inviting with plenty of comfortable seating in the lobby , a fireplace and a gorgeous patio area just on the other side. There are little areas where you can sit and get some work done, relax with a drink or just hang out. I also believe they have live music on the patio on certain weekends, which makes the space even more inviting. After about a 3 1/2-hour drive this time, we decided we weren't going anywhere before getting something to eat, so we had lunch at Pine Street Bistro right in the lobby. We ordered the burger and fries, a salad with shrimp and fresh orange juice, and everything was really good. I love having a spot right downstairs where you can grab breakfast and coffee in the morning, have lunch during the day or come down for a drink later. The rooms are another reason I love this hotel. Everything feels new, fresh and thoughtfully designed. The rooms are modern and minimal without feeling cold, the beds are comfortable, and I especially love the bathroom design. It's just my style. But LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! This is probably one of the biggest reasons I would continue staying here. Once you're settled in, you can leave the car alone and walk. We walked to dinner, a speakeasy, tasting rooms, little shops and the General Store, and just wandered around discovering places along the way. There was even a farmers market nearby on Saturday. That's what I love about staying here. The hotel itself is beautiful, but you're also right in the middle of this charming little downtown where so much is within walking distance. Unfortunately, the price point suggests a true five-star experience, while the condition and maintenance of the hotel simply do not. During our stay, we experienced plumbing issues as well as problems with roof leaks. More concerning is that friends we recommended the hotel to also experienced plumbing problems during their stay. Their solution? They were handed a plunger. At a hotel charging luxury rates, that is simply not an acceptable response to a guest experiencing a plumbing problem. Hotel Cheval has so much going for it--the location is wonderful, the property is charming, and we genuinely wanted to continue loving it. But luxury is more than atmosphere and a premium room rate. It also means excellent maintenance, attention to detail, and service that resolves problems without making them the guest's responsibility. At this price point, the infrastructure and level of service need to match the promise. Right now, they don't. I hope management invests in the property because Hotel Cheval could absolutely live up to the experience its pricing suggests.
