Not the best food nor service. I had to flag down a waiter twice before getting my order in, and when I got her she wasn't very nice nor welcoming. Plus she got my order wrong and didn't put in the free drink from check in like I asked. I ordered the waffle and eggs dish, the potatoes were way too salty, the sausage was barely edible, eggs were too runny though I asked for well done, the waffle was good though. I actually ordered from this place on Grubhub without realizing that this is the restaurant I always pass by while taking the 8 east freeway - WELL - glad I ordered from them because their veggie omelette (added bacon, which there was abundant amount of candied deliciousness included). Me and my friend were doing a little shopping in mission valley and wanted to grab something quick while we were out, and we stumbled upon this place. Our waiter Luke was super friendly and very attentive. I got a club sandwich, and it was LOADED with turkey and bacon- great value. My friend ordered the calamari and enjoyed it a lot also. They put black olives and artichokes in my breakfast burrito even though it's clearly not in the menu description for the veggie breakfast burrito. When I tried to get the wrong item situation resolved they definitely didn't handle it well and took zero responsibility. Really frustrating. We've been meaning to give this a try since it opened after a lengthy re-model and new name from Adam's Steak 'n Eggs and finally had the opportunity to stop in. meh........ they're missing the mark on multiple levels. It looks bright and inviting from the outside for breakfast and the sign guy on Hotel Circle South at the Taylor St off-ramp was a reminder to stop in. Our waitress was the first to greet us as we walked in with a "sit anywhere and a smile" welcome! We chose a corner table that was set up and didn't notice until we actually sat that it wasn't wiped off and was pretty dirty with coffee spills, crumbs, food, etc.. The waitress gave us menus and hurried back with coffee and water and wiped it clean-er. I then went to the bathroom and it was tidy but didn't smell clean and the stench was nauseating. It really needs a deep sudsy, bleach and scrub down right now! The restrooms are in the back corner but it looks like the storage room since you have to navigate past the high chairs all stacked here. Our menu choices didn't include any "senior items" for lighter appetites so we just ordered the simple breakfast of 2 eggs, toast, potatoes (blah), and toast for $10. The poached eggs were delivered in the typical cup but without the water drained off. Where are you supposed to drain the water? Coffee was good and they provided real half 'n half which was a plus. After the bathroom experience we noticed that the floor of the dining room wasn't really maintained to a A-rating either. Considering this was a walls in total remodel in recent time, cleaning doesn't seem to be a high priority here. When we factor in the multiple idle cook's distracting loud chatter all the way from the other side of the restaurant the result was that we won't be back or recommend it. First impressions do matter. Hopefully they get the message. I don't like to seem like I'm trying to get a freebie so we waited until the bill was paid to mention a few of my concerns with the manager. He was having breakfast near the kitchen and he immediately went to inspect the restrooms. Maybe there's hope? Update: The owner read my review and has invited me back to try it again! Went here for my nephew's birthday Sunday and had a wonderful experience. When we arrived there wasn't a table big enough to seat us all together so we had a small wait. The manager/owner Alex and all the wait staff were amazing. They checked in on us often, let us know they were working on a table for us, and got us seated with drinks ordered as soon as they could. Now onto the food....if their customer service is a 10 their food is a 20!! The menu is big and diverse with great prices for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We all got breakfast and were all extremely happy with our selections. The 2 year old birthday boy decoured the strawberry pancakes, strawberry sauce was clearly made in house not store bought. I got a breakfast burrito bigger than my forearm filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese, and sausage. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the salsa served on the side had great flavor that accompanied the eggs beautifully. Their gravy and hollandais sause is also made expertly. And most importantly their coffee was really good, brewed perfectly and good quality (also huge cups) We will be back because there are too many thing I have to try. We were there for the San Diego Surf Cup. The service was so awesome and Chris our server was very nice. we were well taken care of. The food was very delicious that we went back again for more . We had a long day and very hungry, I called to ask if there was any available seating for 6 and Luke was very confident he was going to have us taken care of. Do not go here if you want really good food. The food tasted like hotel food and the quality of the food is pretty terrible. The potatoes are straight out of a freezer bag and weren't seasoned at all and the chicken was extremely dry and lacked flavor. Crust Kitchen offers a wide variety on its menu. My family had two different pizzas, which weren't bad, but they also weren't anything fabulous. The kids chicken tenders looked delicious, and the were enjoyed with well seasoned fries. The tomato basil soup was very tasty too. Overall, the food was underwhelming, especially for the price. Service was almost non existent even though it was totally dead. The server was just busy chatting with the other workers. Also, it took a really long time to get food for 3 pm in the afternoon on a Friday. I wouldn't return personally. read more

Don't let the name detract you...It should just be called "Casual Kitchen". This is really a casual diner/cafe with updated, fresh and some locally sourcing American fare. The food here was good. I got an XL pizza which was indeed XL and my friend got their tomato basil soup. What was disappointing though was the service. The waiter was friendly and nice, but he didnt seem very well-versed on the menu items. Friend asked for croutons with her soup and he said they didn't serve croutons, but can provide pieces of small bread. Croutons with soup is pretty standard right? And when she got her soup, voila, croutons appeared with it. Then what really got me was when I got my pizza, I asked for ranch dressing (I like to dip my crust into the ranch). That's standard right? He said OK and came back with a cup of ranch. I don't know what they put in the ranch but it was the best ranch dressing ever! Epic! Then when I received the bill, they charged me $1.75 for that small cup of ranch -___- when I asked for ranch the waiter did not inform me there was an extra charge. Second, a pizza place called CRUST should not be charging customers for ranch, especially $1.75! Ranch is a standard for pizza lovers, to charge for a small cup of ranch dressing is an abomination in a pizza establishment! I'd come back for the food...but would not order any extra condiments or croutons. read more

Ordered delivery while staying at the hotel next door. I had the meatloaf dinner and got the XL pepperoni pizza for the kiddos. Some reviews are irritated by the fact that they run out of some menu items but I'm pretty sure it's because they have fresh ingredients daily and when it's gone - that's it for the day. The meatloaf was tasty. It came with 3 big slices of meat and generous servings of mashed potatoes and fresh veggies. Yummy comfort food. I also had a slice of pizza because it looked really good. The crust was nice and thin and all ingredients tasted fresh. Delivery was very fast and all of the staff I spoke with were nice. I highly recommend trying this place out. read more
