I went to Crystal Spa today after hiking up to the Wisdom Tree -- which is pretty much my usual Monday or weekend routine. And honestly, this place is PERFECT for that sweaty, tired, "I-need-to-reset-my-body-and-my-soul" feeling. It's a small Korean spa tucked inside a mall in Koreatown, and that's what I love about it. It's not chaotic. It's not crowded. Half the time when I'm here, the sauna is empty or there's just one quiet person inside. Same with the steam room -- sometimes it's just me. If you're the kind of person who wants silence, space to think, decompress, meditate, or just stare at a wall and breathe... this is the place. It's very clean. The water is always fresh. You can tell they maintain everything really well. And I love their cold plunge. My routine is simple: sauna cold plunge sauna cold plunge repeat. It hits my inflammation perfectly and I feel brand new afterward. But the BEST part -- and honestly the reason I keep coming back -- is the little cafeteria. I don't know what they officially call it, but to me it's like a Korean mom's kitchen. The lady who cooks there... she feels like her calling in life is to feed people with love. Everything she makes tastes like it was done with care. She's gentle, warm, and has that typical Korean mother energy -- comforting, precise, and full of heart. Today I got ramen and the banchan (I always look forward to their banchan). And the watermelon shake... that's my signature move. I get it every single time. After I sauna and cold plunge, I go straight there to eat, then lie down on the mat in the lounge area and watch whatever Korean singing contest show they have on the TV. It's simple but it's perfect. Every time I leave Crystal Spa, I feel refreshed. Reset. Worth it. It's honestly my little haven. The vibe is clean, peaceful, and very "take care of yourself." The reception staff are always smiling -- genuinely smiling -- which already puts you in a good mood. I highly recommend this place if you need quiet healing, solitude, and a break from the world. This is definitely one of my happy places.

Cant believe the price seemed to be the same as 10 years ago. $30 day, $20 with service. Sat 10a was pretty empty and chill. But then about noonish-1 a bunch of Korean people rushed in. I guess the kspa rage is over with young ppl. 10-15years ago it was so popular with young ppl. Today was full of normal old korean ladies. Workers here are totally Korean! English is minimal. And you think theyre yelling at you but they really arent. Haha I had a foot massage and friends had the scrub. They said they enjoyed it. I got kinda got yelled at (like the normal korean way) bc i wasnt where i was supposed to be. I was in the bathhouse but for the foot massage (and i assume other body massages) to be in the coed jjimjil room. The front desk should tell me this. Also someone NOT KOREAN walked into the coed naked during my foot massage. Korean lady workers yelled "you have to put clothes on" repeatedly. The front desk needs to do better esp with non korean guests. Other kspas hand you the t shirts and shorts and tell you that you must wear them in the coed place after a shower. Oh their clothes need a lil update imo. Some looked really worn out. I still got my foot massage.. which isnt like the typical chinese foot massage places. It was a bit boring and repetitive and they didnt massage my head shoulders or arms. Normally acupressure foot massages does a little. For scrub, they only recommend you do hot bath before. The standing showers need a little tlc. It was kinda looking gross. The hot and cold tubs were ok but could be nicer. Sauna rooms were fine. I dont recall seeing toothbrush with salt... wonder if they had it. They provide soaps but dont know if its really aveda. Body lotion seemed to be aveda. We decided to grab a quick lunch but it took longer for the food to come out. It was only 1 sweet lady working the food and she did tell me (later) that the chicken soup takes a while. It also wasnt too good. Id skip it next time. Get the egg and rice drink. That was good. Friends had bulgogi and mool neng myun. I dont think they were in love but it did the job. Wish i had more time to enjoy the rooms. It was so empty. Parking was 10 hrs free which was crazy and appreciated. Remember your car plates bc thats how they validate. Do glad they told me this over the phone.

Mixed experience at Cristal SPA Relaxation area with massage chair and floor mats is a nice touch for winding down. On-site cafe offers drinks and food with self-service options. Front desk staff were polite and check-in was quick and easy. No slippers provided to guests - which is surprising for a spa, especially with slippery floors. Some areas looked a bit messy and unorganized (shoes, baskets, rugs). Overall atmosphere felt a bit worn and not as well-maintained as expected. It's an okay spot if you're not looking for a high-end spa experience, but there's definitely room for improvement.

This was my first visit to the Crystal Spa, and unfortunately, I was disappointed. The place was very dirty, which might have been because it was a Saturday and overly crowded. However, I also noticed that the equipment and facilities were quite old. The shirts and shorts provided for guests were in poor condition, looking so old and worn that they should really be replaced.

Got a skin infection from the spa. Had to get medicine from urgent care.

Acupressure massage is very rough and causes injury. Locker rooms are maintained but the rest of the place is dirty. Sanitation is not happening. Went home with a neck injury and a skin infection for $145. Still having major neck pain 4 weeks after brutal massage. Highly recommend Century Day Spa, it's much cleaner and friendlier and the treatments are nice, not painful. Manager was supposed to refund me but now has stopped responding.

Ask the Community - Crystal Spa

Is the use of robes and bathing suits permitted?

No, the ladies aquatic facilities are separate from men and swimming suits are not allowed. You could probably bring a robe.

If I arrive before 8:30 am and receive the "early bird" admission of $20, what will happen if I stay more than four (4) hours?

From my past experience at other places, nothing will happen. When I visited a few days ago I didn't observe any signs regarding a time limit to my visit, however I did not visit during the early bird special. I recommend giving them a call.

    Is there parking?

    it's in a mall, there's parking.

Gender rules? Can women go into the men's side?

No, women cannot go into the men's side where they shower. However, there is a common area with heated floor, TV, and a restaurant. Both genders are allowed in this area.

    When they open?

They've been open for over a week and maybe longer but that's when I started. Open 7am-10pm.

    Are they open?

    Yes, during business hours.

Is Crystal permanently closed? Their website is no longer available.

They've been open for over a week and maybe longer but that's when I started. Open 7am-10pm.

Is it safe to stay overnight?

    No, it's not open 24/7.

Is a kid allowed to enter this place? I read somewhere that this place is no-kid zone.

    yes

Is there a place to store my luggage/baggage?

They have cubbies for your personal belongings during your visit, but I don't know about luggage, you need to call them and ask.

Are there coed areas? If so how many?

    Yes, the main ones

Is this spa inside a shopping mall?

    Yes, upstairs

How much is admissions entering by 3 pm on Tuesday?

I would call to confirm the price, but as of a few days ago admission was $30.

So the steam room is coed area?

No. They're gender specific. Coed is common area.

This spa is the same like most spa for men and women separate?

Like most Korean spas, yes there's a separate men's and women's spa. The common area is where both are welcomed.

The very friendly girl at the Moxy front desk recommended Silver Lake Spa and casually dropped the words "mid-week special." $55 for one hour. Sign. Me. Up. No questions asked. Between my moaning, grunting, and aggressively pointing at my neck and shoulders (note to self: don't lift weights the day before a six-hour flight), we agreed on a relaxing Thai/Swedish combo. Friends... JJ knew exactly what she was doing. She found knots in my skull. My actual skull. Then proceeded to perform some kind of kung-fu Thai magic where I felt what used to be my brain turn back into mush--in the best way. She moved to my shoulders and back, mixing deep Thai stretches with light kneading, locating muscle kinks like five-carat diamonds and polishing them until they no longer existed. At one point I'm fairly certain I was purring. HR would not approve. Then came the oil and relaxation portion. Pure bliss. She was gentle, focused, and so intentional that I may or may not have teared up slightly. One hour was simply not enough. I could've moved in. If you live in LA--go see JJ. It seems to have downsized --probably an effect of the pandemic, but also the overall feel of the business has changed drastically. There is no receptionist to greet you when you come in. They ask for payment up front. An electronic voice greeting goes off TWICE every time the door is opened, which you can hear from the massage room EVERY TIME. The same four minutes of music playing on repeat was honestly a little distracting/annoying. Weird fluorescent lighting in the massage room doesn't help. Overall, I really wanted to overlook all this stuff and just enjoy the massage, but it was not a relaxing experience. My masseuse seemed nice but spent most of the time on my back when I specifically asked her to focus on my legs. I realize how whiny and privileged this sounds, but it was so disappointing and felt like a waste of money. Do yourself a favor and just go to Yolo instead.
