Not sure what's with the bad reviews but this Korean spa is one of the cleanest spas I've gone to. There's no funny business here everyone seemed chill minding their own business. Wish it was a little bit bigger for the hot sauna pool. I liked the icy cool room and the salt room for relaxing. They also provide massage chairs for $1 for 3 minutes and I heard the food was good. Compared to the Korean spa where I am this one is just way nicer, highly recommend. read more

Checking yet another Korean Spa off my list! Having been to Wii Spa twice and Natura Spa twice, Crystal Spa is my third Korean Spa. And now I'm torn between favorites... Natura and Crystal. What did I love? - Super friendly helpful staff. Way friendlier than the other two spas. - Super clean, neat, and tidy. - Spacious crystal salt room - Charcoal & Wood room - Yellow Sand room - Something about the dry sauna felt more relaxing. I think it had to do with the design. - Free parking for 6 hours - No kids! ...which means it's not excessively noisy What could've been beter: - The Ice room could have been colder - The sign exiting the women's area could've been bigger. Glad I saw it though! Would've been super embarrassing walking out into the co-ed area all naked :/ What I it lacks that I wish they had: - Clay room (I'm a fan of laying in the balls) - A Warm Pool. (There's only hot and cold and I'm too wimpy for the hot) - I forgot my scrubby cloth thingies at home and they didn't have any for me to purchase that day :( Let's talk about the cafe. I have been to several Korean spas now and have an idea of what to expect. General highlights: Their shampoos, body washes and lotions are better quality as they carry only Aveeno products. Co-ed in the common rooms so that you can enjoy with your friends. Their food area was close when I went but they do serve food if you are hungry. I would rank this higher than Wi Spa as it is cleaner and smaller so that it's not as crowded. Overall, I didn't see people sleeping here as it doesn't open 24/7 so it is also more hygienic. Crystal Spa is also conveniently located inside a shopping plaza so you can get groceries/breads at the grocery store on your way out. Downsides: The spa is generally clean (but their tubs are chlorinated). If you are looking for pure alkaline water (free of chlorine), Spa LA is probably your best bet. The downside of spa la is that it is women's only. Parking: Free and validated for your visit. Customer service: Friendly and courteous. I had a good experience overall and would come back some time in the future. Your first visit is also 20% off. Entrance is also cheaper on Wednesdays (around $20) read more

Really decent spa hidden inside the mall! There certainly aren't a lot of rooms since the place is not so big. The jimjilbang is clean, but quite close to the kitchen so it's not very quiet. However, the rooms are large and spacious. The cold room was very pretty and I really like how new it looks in there. I do have to say the shower area is quite old and is not as clean as other spas like Hugh Spa, Wispa, Olympic, and Spa LA. That's my only complaint with this place. But, the admission price is relatively cheaper than the other places! read more

I somehow ended up at this place on several occasions when my regular places were not available or convenient, and always has a good experience. I have been able to get service when I dropped by that it was well done. I also appreciate that they have a written menu so you can select your service and that when I had a mani and pedi done at the same time, my service providers did not chatter incessantly between them, which can be very stressful, even thought I had headphones on and was listening to a book. Groups of men came together today and conversed in Korean, while Korean television shows played in the background... which, of course, is the vibe and the clientele, but as an English speaker, not really a lot to entertain me, so got a little bit bored quickly. More intimate and quiet than the other Korean spa in LA that starts with a W. It's very clean and well-maintained with just enough rooms and amenities to get your k-spa fix. The spa is on the 3rd floor of the mall and validates parking in the lower level (P2) of the H-mart parking for up to 6 hours. Regular entry fee is $30 per adult. If you get another service like massage or body scrub, the entry fee goes down to $15, and if you spend over $100 on services then they waive the entry fee. Each person gets a bracelet with an RFID tag that unlocks your locker. My locker contained one large and two small towels along with a clothes hanger. Each of the gender separated areas have a hot tub, cold tub, dry sauna, and steam sauna. All of the temperatures were appropriate and felt great. There are three communal "sauna" rooms: charcoal room, salt room, and clay/mud room, listed in order of increasing heat. There was also the cold room, which could have been colder. My favorite was the salt room, which I thought had the nicest environment with the pink salt rocks lit up. It was also thoughtful of them to lay out blankets on the rocks so that you wouldn't burn your feet. Perfect for amateurs like me. I also got the body scrub, which is a unique experience that you can really only get at a korean spa. It's not for the faint of heart though, as it involves you lying butt naked on a wet table as someone scrubs you down from head to toe, getting into all the nooks and crevices of your most intimate areas. I was called in to shower and soak in a hot tub for about 15 minutes followed by steam sauna for another 5-10 minutes. Then, a Korean Ajumma (Auntie) thoroughly scrubbed me down with some exfoliating mitts for about 30 minutes. Every inch of my body was exfoliated, from toe to neck and fingertip to fingertip. First the back, then the front, then the left, then the right, and then the back and front again. My face was covered with a towel the whole time, but could feel pieces of dead skin on the table. At the end, she also cleansed my body and face, washed my hair, and gave me a mini back, face, and scalp massage. It was great for blood circulation, and I slept like a baby afterwards. Used to love this place but new management has really failed to maintain the quality. There is visible mold in the ceilings a around the men's shower and steam room area. They claim they use Aveda products but all I saw was a body lotion and some toner that was a brand I had never seen up until that point in my life. Previously they provided a toner, a face lotion, and a body lotion which were all great. Heartbreaking as this place was one of the best in LA where I was happy to pay premium prices. This place is amazing. It's so clean and very modern looking. I love that when I walked in they give me a tour of the facility, explain the rules and etiquette of the spa. I do like that they have a great selection of Aveda products available for purchase. They also validate parking for their guest. I signed up for my usual body scrub yesterday and was told that my appointment was changed to an earlier time, I thought it was odd but thought nothing of it. I was hastily met by MiMi for my 5:10 earlier appointment and instructed to lie face down on the table, I did so and began to close my eyes and relax. As she started scrubbing me, she started to complain to me that "i was so dirty" how I needed to come in more so she wouldn't have to work so hard. I was shocked but continued to try and relax. She then abruptly turned my face and made me look at her and shouted "see see you make me work so hard I'm sweating!" I was shocked and appalled and muttered "I'm sorry" and turned my head back down. The whole time she was grumbling and began scrubbing me more aggressively. I was praying for this nightmare to end. But, she kept going, all the time muttering under her breath how "dirty" and "you make me work so hard" Finally it was over (or so I thought). She asked it If I was ok, I mumbled "I'm fine" and walked away embarrassed and humiliated by her. I proceeded to walk to my locker, sat down and began to cry. I couldn't believe this lady, if she didn't want to continue with the scrub, then say so And I'll gladly go somewhere else. She then passed by me and screamed "what's wrong with you? I spent 20 extra minutes to scrub you cause you so dirty!" I politely told her to please leave me alone. She then proceeded to try and apologize, but calling me a crazy person the whole time? Wtf? I again told her "I get it you're sorry, but please leave me alone", she then tried to hug me, I again told her thank you for your apology but please leave me alone, she then left screaming "crazy, crazy girl". I began to cry even harder. Afraid that she would return to aggravate me further I changed into the JJB uniform And proceeded to "hide" from Her in the cold room, crying the whole time. I began to get cold so I proceeded to go to the restroom, she stopped me just short of the restroom, blocking the restroom door saying "you need to understand, I do this for you, I scrub you extra time because you are dirty!" I then told her, yes I am "dirty" that's why I am getting a scrub, I was getting very impatient and I can feel my bladder so full, I told her politely to move because I had to use the restroom, she then said "what's the matter with you?" I told her "please stop, leave me alone, go away". She then walked away grumbling again. I used the restroom quickly and ran back to the JJB to hide and wait for my friend and sister to finish with their scrubs and massages. My friend then told me that during this time, MiMi went over to where she was having her massage and rudely interrupted her and was saying "you need to talk to your friend, you need to talk to your friend, I take extra 20 minutes! She is sooo dirty". After my sister and my friend were done with their scrubs, they met me in the water dispenser area, as I was telling them about this experience, MiMi has the audacity to come to me again, I then told her "our personalities do not mesh, please never do my scrub and go away from me", she then said "well you so dirty" and walked away from me. I realize this may have been a language barrier between MiMi and I, but this is the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD HERE! I felt belittled and shamed and I am mortified that someone like this works here. I have a strong inkling that my appointment was moved because I am not the only person MiMi has harassed at this spa, take it from me: if you book an appointment DO NOT BOOK MiMi, she is a nightmare and you will regret it! read more

This review is long overdue as I've been biting my tongue for the past two years about this place. Crystal Spa was my go to spa for ultimate relaxation, my urban haven - a place for peace and quiet but not anymore. This place has become a smaller version of Wi Spa or Spa Palace where people lack proper etiquette in spa culture. This is for the patrons: I can't comprehend those who yap their mouths in the jacuzzi, sauna and the relaxation/nap rooms. Where is your common sense?! This is a spa! If you want to laugh your ass off and have loud and annoying conversations with your girlfriends, that's what brunch or your living room is for. Secondly, selfies in the womens area. Really??!! There are naked women walking around behind you as you take those selfies. Moreover, going to the spa is not some kind of ground breaking event that you just have to show your friends on social media how high class you are. Third, shoes in the locker room area and flip flops in the sauna area. If everyone just followed the rules, it wouldn't be as disgusting walking around with your bare feet. Those flip flops you bring from home, that you use to run your errands in this dirty city, well, those that abide by the no flip flops rule end with that grime on our feet. This is the same reason why Asians explicitly tell you to take off your shoes before coming in to their house. If this custom doesn't make sense to you, you're beyond help. Fourth, as soon as you enter the sauna area, hit the shower. I don't care if you've showered already. I need proof that you're clean when you wade around the jacuzzi. If you decide to leave the jacuzzi to go to the sauna then go back to the jacuzzi, rinse yourself off. I or the rest of us don't want any part of your sweat. Lastly, clean up after yourself. If you're going to brush your teeth in the shower area, do all of us a favor and don't let us see a trace of your archaic ways and dispose your toothbrush in the trash can. Plan on using the cloth scrubber? Great! When you're done put it in the designated receptacle where it will be washed and recycled again for use. If you're not sure what to do, ask someone at the front desk or any of the ladies in there that look like they know what they're doing. And if you're told to keep the noise down or be quiet, don't get offended... remember it's a spa!! Management, please make the correct steps to get this establishment back in order. I visited Crystal Spa because I was able to snag a deal on Groupon. My entry was $12. For those who have been to other spas, this place is much smaller. It's located in a shopping mall, the same as Zion market. As a spa patron, you are allowed to park underground for 6 hours with validation. During the monday Labor day weekend, there weren't too many people at the spa, which was nice. The gym is located outside of the spa, which is totally weird. You have to get out of the shop (of the cashier) and it's located on the right. The locker system is also weird. You have to tap your wristband to open, but also tap to lock, where as other spas, they lock the moment you close it. Their selling point is that they feature Aveda products, but not all the products are Aveda, just the body lotions and soaps. The other stuff is like suave quality. read more

I've been coming to Crystal Spa since it opened and really enjoyed it in the beginning and popped a lot of my friends' Korean spa cherries at the place. Unfortunate, there have been several disappointing occurrences that I brushed off during my more recent visits but now I'm starting to think they have a serial problem. My husband and mom have been complaining as well so I know they definitely have some problems they need to kink out. I had written off all the masseuses here (literally, I have a list of people on my phone I make sure I never get a massage from at this place) until I met Lily. She's amazing. You can tell she is massaging with purpose and knows how to find and work out your problem areas. Only problem is that she works only two days here so it's hard for me to make an appointment. Other spas try to create a peaceful quiet environment while you get a massage. For some reason, this place is void of any music and you have to listen to the other masseuses talking. I don't mind when there's a little chatter between other customers and masseuses. I get what I'm paying for, but it's counterproductive during a massage when you have to listen to loud disruptive conversations between the employees or of them on their phone. I've complained about this to the front desk and the lady said they must've forgotten to put he music on. Well, they forgot EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The loudest people at this spa tend to be the korean ajummas who work here. I wish they would focus all their energy on their craft rather than gossiping the whole time. The front desk could use some time getting properly trained as well. And by front desk, I mean the dude in glasses. He has booked the masseuse, type of massage, my name and time incorrectly 75% of the times I've called. I've seen him be reprimanded by other employees. Worst part is, there's always some made up excuse. Just tell me you f@cked up and we're all good. I'm confused to how the front desk is poorly managed. Are they all related? The AVEDA products were a big reason why I came here. My husband noticed that the men's products were different. I asked the front desk if they changed brands and they gave me a definitive no. Seems like another Yelper and my nose completely disagree. I hope they didn't start using the Costco products that I usually see in Korean spas. Lastly, I went and got the worst scrub of my life today. I've been getting scrubbed for 30+ years. For the most part, it's always been the same technique. They gently scrub your body TWICE. Slightly firmer the first time, and a second time to get whatever they might've missed. Today I learned why they do it this way. I got scrubbed by Jenny, who scrubbed around my body just once and painfully rough that parts of my body look like they were scraped against a rough surface. My mom had the same complaint of another lady. I'm not sure if this is a common technique now but I'll take my chances elsewhere from now on. Absolutely love this spa! It's the first one I've ever been to that I've enjoyed the whole experience. I always try to visit when I can, it's my go to place either by myself or with friends. The products they offer in the locker rooms are great, the showers are clean, hot tubs/saunas great, and the staff are nice and attentive. Shout out to the staff who helped me one time look for money I accidentally left in a pocket of the clothing the spa loans you and returned it to me. I am so appreciative for the help. Also the fact that visitors are naked in the private locker rooms I've always felt it was a safe environment walking around. If you're a fan of acupressure massages, be sure to book one here. They are amazing. I have terrible muscle pains sometimes from my job and they always work out the kinks and the masseuse are very attentive to your needs. I have yet to try any of their other treatments, but have heard great things from friends regarding the acupunctures and facials. The communal area is a very chilled and laid back. I've been to this spa in the past and it was meh. I came back recently because a friend of mine who stayed thru the previous ownership indicated that the new ownership really made a difference. I can see that they are more attentive and making improvements to staff and cleanliness. I spoke to the management and they plan to renovate, improve food menu and are busy fixing fixtures. I absolutely love this place! I come here by myself most of the time since my friends aren't willing to get naked with me. My best friend keeps promising that she will come with me but even she refuses every time I ask her! Maybe I am just a true grandma at heart since all the grandmas love spas and they don't care who sees them naked lol! The only time I talk to people here is the ajummas who help scrub my body, my guy friends who are willing to get a bite to eat with me here since men and women are separated at the entry point, etc. I see a few girls my age frequent the place by themselves but most of the time if there are girls my age they are in pairs, which makes me jealous (and more inclined to ask my friend to come with me via text for the millionth time). Maybe I just have no shame... I am a frequent spa goer so I have the entry tickets since they are more affordable than buying regular entry every day. Although I have entry tickets to both Wi spa and crystal spa, I prefer crystal spa because of the smaller feel. Wi spa can get overwhelming, especially on Fridays. It can get really packed in there! Last time I had the kimchi stew and it was really good, although I found it odd that they served everything in Styrofoam rather than clay pots. I usually get kimchi stew since I am a OG Korean. You buy kimchi stew in korea, it is like 5 dollars. Here it is more expensive, but worth it to me. Should try it out! Also the watermelon drink is reeeeally good. I swear she must have been sore after the massage she gave me. My neck had been hurting and she massaged the pain right out. I went with three other friends and they all had great massages. The saunas are amazing, they even have a relaxation room where you can chill with no heat, they do have heat pads on the floor. I didn't eat there, but I will try next time.
