Husband and I decided to check this place out while passing it from the freeway. "Furniture, Fashion and Technology" products peaked our interest but upon entering the store we discovered we had no need for anything in this store. Lots of off brand merchandise and quite expensive compared to other department/retail stores. Mostly toys, electronics and furniture. I have a feeling that much of the appeal for this store is for people who want to establish credit and/or purchase things on a payment plan. I did see a nice Michael Kors handbag but here was no price on it. I asked the female associate who approached me and she called someone else over. That girl had to call another lady over and they started to discuss wether or not this purse was $387 or not. One of the girls claimed that the particular bag I was looking at was on sale and then was arguing with the other associate about that. I wondered if the bag was a knock-off or something. No thanks... I'll just keep buying my handbags direct or from more established department stores. The store was clean but pushy and argumentative sales associates and expensive off brand merchandise. Don't come here !!!! I've been a loyal customer with this store . I've gotten TV , tablets , speakers , straighteners, etc .. this last time I purchased a 85 Samsung TV Bundle came with an Xbox and a speaker bar on Sunday April 3rd I was only able to take home the speaker and the XBox that day. I Had to go back on Monday 4th for the TV because their warehouse was closed . I didn't open the TV untill Thursday 7th because I was moving rooms and had to clean to set up the Tv. When I opened it the Tv had a scratch on the bottom left and wouldn't turn on just flashed blue lights . I proceeded to call the insurance I purchased with them on Friday the 8th and said to call the store because it was within the 15 days of purchase. I called and they said to take pictures but it was guna take 2-3 business days for them to get back to me not including (Saturday-Sunday ) so I decided to take the TV back on my day off on Monday 11th. They said they'll take the pictures and send it in . That same night I get a call saying the serial number of the TV doesn't match with the box's serial number . I had to go in the next day Tuesday 12th to talk to the manager and they said they had to contact Samsung. That they'll contact me . I decided to call Samsung my self and they basically said they can't do anything . It's between me and the store . I've been calling customer support so many times and they've just been giving me the run around ! Nothing is happening and I already started paying for a TV I DONT HAVE !! I went in the store again today Sunday April 24th and the manager keeps telling me that it's a process and that I have to wait and see . It's almost been a month and still no TV !! read more

Be wary about the ads that end up in your mailbox!!!! They seem too good to be true for a reason..It ended up costing me a morning which I will never get back. The ad this week advertised a new blender, a toaster oven and a nice cookware set for $10 each. Great deals, right? What the ad says at the bottom (in spanish only) is that you need to sign up for *their* credit card. And as you all know, credit cards are the spawn of the devil. I've gone all my life without ever depending on a credit card and this is never going to change. The rest of the ad is both english/spanish (Such as the days the sale starts/ends) but that one part was spanish only. Imagine that! Ripping off good ol' gringos, how the tables have turned.. Looking on their website, it appears very sketchy: http://www.lacuracao.net/English/classicCard.htm No APR rates listed, no visa/mastercard logo..Nada, just fill out the form. I didn't find out about the caveat until a nice employee informed me of it. When I got around to it, I asked my spanish-speaking friend what the bottom fine print says. This is just more bait and switch bs. The store was pretty empty as far as people shopping. When I got there, I honestly thought it was still closed at 11am. Place is a big clusterf*ck too, its very disorganized and there's not much room to walk around in. I've also called their support line, its a nightmare, dont waste your time. Somebody should report this company to the AG for fraud, seriously this is a new low. read more

Let me preface this by saying that Boyfriend LOVES this place. I, however, am not feeling quite so generous. We were at Lowe's getting a key copied when we spotted the garishly lighted sign for Curacao on our way out of home-improvement land. Having no clue what it was, we decided we'd have a look. (yes, we are attracted to shiny, brightly colored things, aren't we?) We walked in, and it was like one of those damned Fingerhut catalogs brought to life. Everything you could need for the home was there, but overpriced, and quite a few things had no discernible brand name. Most things could be purchased with a down payment it seemed, and then you could make monthly payments "as low as $30!" I was anxious to take off, but Boyfriend was entranced. So many things to see, of course! The sales force is friendly, and all are well dressed, but you can't get through some of the aisles, choked with salespeople as they are. And .. they ALL want to 'help' you, naturally. Eventually, he got tired, and we got to leave, as long as I promised a future visit to walk around the damned place again! read more

Prices were not that great but its the kind of place you can walk around in for hours and not get bored. Heard the return policy isn't that great but they have a big sales force with nicely dressed people asking if you need help with anything. These chains are so expensive!! You could find a name brand fridge or any other sort of appliance somewhere else at a reasonable price. Whenever they have "sales", the sales are almost the same price as other similar stores. Sales employees either don't want to be there or they try to push the sale as much as possible. A couples of years ago, we tried their internet service and it was just terrible. Cell phone, cable, and internet service employees are extremely pushy. Curacao offers credit to people who either have poor or little to no credit. I'm pretty sure that's why their prices are so high for such poor quality. My family had a credit card with them for about a year because we bought a furniture set. Even though the credit we had was almost perfect, we still had a terrible interest rate. We finished paying off our furniture in about a year and our furniture only lasted for about 3 years. Poor quality. read more

As a teenager starting out with no credit history and or job, this place gave my husband his first open line of credit to start building his credit score. 12 years later he still keeps this account open because it's his longest standing line of credit which looks good on a credit report, but that's the ONLY reason why. Negatives: The associates try to trick you into adding "extras" to your purchases. Not cool. Once they asked if we wanted some silly protection plan and after saying no, we found that they had put it on there anyway. We immediately had them take it off but that is so shady. Their tricks have never worked on us, but what is sad is that It seems like most people that shop here are recently immigrated families and it is so sad to see that they are probably taken advantage of in this way. They offer financing on everything in the store. Depending on your account, you may have 0% financing, but the way they trick you is that their items are either overpriced or can always be found for cheaper elsewhere, so in reality you aren't really paying 0% percent because you just paid more in the original price of the product anyway. If you buy something in one department and you want to exchange it, you have to return/exchange it from something in that exact department and spend the exact amount or more. My husband bought me some $300 sunglasses and I didn't really like the way they looked on me and also felt bad that he spent so much on me so when we returned they said I had to pick from only the sunglasses section and spend the same amount!! (I was hoping to return them for something much cheaper). After talking to managers we finally got them to let me choose from either the perfume department or sunglasses department and I was able to get some cheaper sunglasses as well as some perfume but still had to make it add up to $300. Oh and this was about three months after having my baby and the girl at the counter asked if I was pregnant. That was nice....not, lol. Not in the best area. Pro: Every once in a great while you can find one deal. Today we went in to make a payment and my husband bought the Beats Executive Headphones on sale for $150 and they are normally sold elsewhere for $200. Overall, I'd rather shop somewhere else so once we use our great credit scores to buy a home, this is the first account we can't wait to close! read more

We had gone to purchase a washer, dryer, refrigerator, and sofa set but were told they were not available at their warehouse at that time. They said we could pay and they would notify us when everything was in the warehouse, so we Paid in full they called us 3 weeks later to notify us that everything had arrived except for the dryer. Then the lady Carmen from the furniture department told me that if I wanted to wait until the dryer arrived so everything could be delivered together NEVER did she tell me or informed me that not everything else that was already there would be available. So on October 12 she gave me a call to tell me that not only didn't they have the dryer yet, but also the fridge was not available now. Very unprofessional. I have purchased from Curacao in the past (washer and dryer) and recently needed to buy a refrigerator. We keep a line of credit there as a back up plan in case of emergency. This was one of those times. The interest rate is SUPER high but it is there in a pinch and I usually pay it off ASAP. The sales person was on the pushier side showing us the latest and greatest in refrigerators and not what we needed. He really wanted us to buy now but I told him this was our first stop and wanted to shop around. He then said don't worry we do price matching....even with CostCo. So with that I did my homework and we were able to find what we wanted on CostCo's website and they did match the price...$900 off! That was great! Here is where it goes down hill...they wanted to sell us some super duper filter system (only $199). Why?? Doesn't the filter in the refrigerator work well enough? Also a 3 year warranty for over $600!! REALLY ON A NEW LG APPLIANCE! No thank you. So here is the kicker....we gave them their credit card and they said ok this transaction will require a $300 deposit. What do you mean?? She said because of the amount...so we have a credit line of $3800 and we are making a purchase of $2200 and we need to make a deposit!?!@?!?! I said I wasn't prepared to make a deposit. Then she said....are you ready...."you can just give the cash to the delivery guy"!! Ha ha not happening. So I said hold the order I will be back in a few days. So I was pissed! I spent an HOUR there for nothing!! Then my husband said "they are just mad we made them lower the price $900, didn't by any additional items except delivery and they won't get interest on the $300." OK that made me feel better hence the 3 stars. Maybe this is how they do business. Maybe this is normal for their store and usual clients. The delivery guys were great! Nice, clean, quick which also saved them at 3 stars. Will I go back? Probably because of the price matching and great delivery service. As for the way they do transactions...not good.
