We came here on a Friday night around 8, the night before Halloween, and I expected the place to be packed. Surprisingly, we got a table almost immediately and in the back area too (away from the street). I recommend everyone to request the back seating area -- less crowded and no cars. We tried Mermaid Sphinx, Mango Margarita slushy, Banshee, and Chupacabra. There was so much ice in all the drinks so we did ask them to chill out on that. We also got the potato string fries and the chicken strips. The fries were so addicting -- they were thin and crispy. The chicken strips portion was smaller than I expected, but it was fine, I wasn't planning to get a dinner portion. It was just expensive for what we got. read more

My husband and I made reservations here for dinner prior to a show at The Chapel (the connected venue). I was having a really bad day and honestly, our service was so awesome that it really helped to make me feel better. Jenae D. was super attentive and friendly. Give this woman a raise, please! We were a party of 5 and came around 11:30 on a Sunday as a walk in, no wait! The restaurant quickly filled up in the next half hour. They have both indoor and "outdoor" seating (it's a covered patio-like space). I did not drink but my friends ordered bloody Mary's and the mezcal margarita and raves about them! We then ordered fried pickles and hush puppies to share. For mains, my friend and I shared the biscuit Benedict and the breakfast Sando. I preferred the breakfast sando. The biscuit Benedict was good but the collard greens were overpoweringly sweet. Overall, very heavy and filling food but good! We were here for a Sunday brunch. The vibe was very easy going and food service was really quick. We got the eggs Benedict and the hang over combo. Yes the combo was for me and yes it revived my body to continue the day. But the real hero was the jazz band playing. These guys were talented and lifted my spirits. This was out first dining out experience since March . We decided to check out Valencia street with the new Fall schedule (Thur-Sun road closure to allow social distancing for eating out). There was a short wait and we got a nice seat distanced from others. The menu was accessible by scanning the QR code which was pretty neat. We got potato wedges, mushroom hot pockets, and the veggie sandwich - everything was great. We were glad to see so many vegetarian options. Curio has become one of my go to happy hour spots for these reasons: 1. close to Muni and BART 2. good food on the HH menu as I don't really drink much 3. $1 oysters. ONE DOLLAR OYSTERS. 4. indoor AND some spacious outdoor seating. Since I am not much of a drinker, I appreciate a happy hour with decent and affordable food. Will not come back here. Came here on a Friday night for happy hour; it was nearly empty. Ordered a dozen oysters which are each $1 for HH and 2 glasses of sauvignon blanc... It took about 10 mins to get the wine and an additional 20 to get the oysters. By the time the food arrived the place was packed. - Oysters: horrible! Extremely salty, what did they do?! We've been to curio on separate occasions- for both dinner and drinks, and it's honestly one of those few spots that do both well. I hear they even so brunch; that's my next stop... For drinks: We went on a Friday night, and it was surprisingly spacious with a really fun DJ spinning 80s beats. The cocktails were creative and well-made, not watered down at all. I recommend the nights they have live music- high quality tunes but also off the beaten path enough that you aren't packed into a sardine can of sweaty strangers. For dinner: The food was simple but delicious. I highly suggest the spring rolls- we ended up ordering a second helping :) The squash soup was also amazing - I've gotten it twice now. Finally, I want to make sure to give a special shoutout to management and staff at Curio. They honestly care about their patrons and want you to have a good time. It's a refreshing change of pace to some of the other (dehumanizing) mission bars I've been to. Highly recommend- weeknight or weekend! read more

We got in just 30 mins before they were closing the brunch because the hostess was being really nice. Our waiter was really friendly too even we were afraid that she might be pissed because the hostess let us in so late in the game, but she was totally the opposite and really worked with us to get our orders in before the kitchen would say no mas. GREAT SERVICE! My sister and husband were with me so they ordered the Deviled Eggs to start and we also got the Impossible Burgers. They were pretty good, but wish there was more fresh element added to it beside the bredded, fried onions. It was a hard one digest for sure LOL. Cocktails were good too! I had my company holiday party at Curio recently and they did a terrific job, so my partner and I decided to go back and try it out for Saturday brunch. The place was pretty full (definitely get a reservation) and the atmosphere was buzzy and fun, but not overly loud (unless you sit right next to the DJ table out on the patio). The service was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. My partner had one of their house special drinks, which tasted great but was fairly weak - the server gladly had the bartender drop in another shot of vodka. For appetizers we had yummy shrimp hush puppies with sweet chili butter, which struck a nice savory/sweet balance, and decadent fried sweet/sour pickles with blue cheese dipping sauce. For our main course we split the breakfast sandwich, which we loved -- egg, pork belly and pimento cheese, out of this world. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked good and there's lots of great looking stuff on the dinner menu to try, so we'll definitely be back. read more

The restaurant becomes a dance floor on the right, with colorful lights and the ambiance is almost like a bar/club. The left and the outdoor seating is great for sit down restaurant. Curio has some live music and it's a nice tough on the busy street of Valencia. My friends and I go during the Happy Hour and it's presentation, service, and food are great. Brunch is new here and it is superb. From savory to sweet. Everything was on point. We started our meal with the hush puppies and deviled eggs. The pork rind on the deviled egg gave them a nice crunch and mouth feel. We tried three entrees. 1. Eggs benie, loved the 4505 sausage pattie paired with a nice sweet yet sour collard greens. 2. Cinnamon French toast, lots of mascarpone cream and fresh peaches 3. Bagel plate, no your usual bagel toppings. A very fine lox on one half of the bagel but I he other half covered in large red caviar. Yum! Over all wonderful service and food. Now we need to try diner. Almost forgot outdoor seating. Went here for the first time last night and definitely enjoyed the vibe of the place. I only went for drinks but the staff seems friendly, there are lots of places to sit down for drinks up at the bar or table seating. The place has a restaurant on one side and a bar on the other side. I had already ate so I just went for the bar. You can have a conversation with someone and not have to yell. The whole atmosphere of the place the lighting and all the seating make it great for groups to go for drinks. I will definitely return to this place and next time try the restaurant. read more

Yummy lunch and live music on a Sunday morning! I'd recommend the Breakfast Napoleon if you're looking to try a unique dish. It seems like a different take on biscuits and gravy with bacon and fried chicken sandwiched in between layers of eggs and puff pastry, all doused with a lemon hollandaise. This sauce, while delicious, is rich! I got a little tired of it by the end of the dish but that doesn't take away from how good it was leading up to that point. My fiance ordered the pork belly benedict which was also delicious, leaning on the tangy acidic side with the pickles. Came here on a Friday night. Got sat in the back which was a little more quiet (which I loved). All of the food and drinks were delish and our server Tere was great despite being visible busy. First the good stuff, service was very courteous and even brought us extra napkins and wipes due to our dishes being the more messy eating variety. Wish they brought back an extra carafe of water though, someone took ours and we never saw it again. Unfortunately, the food left me wanting that evening. The papaya salad was splintered between too many directions, seemingly having an internal battle of savory vs sweet, but remaining undecided. The tuna tartare was probably one of the better dishes. I had the smoked pork sandwich and was a bit disappointed in how a la carte it was given the price, something accompanying it would have been nice. The taste was decent but nothing to write home about. Plus there was an excessive amount of sauce that spilled out when i took a bite, which resulted in scalding hot sauce drenching my hand and giving me a few burns. I was walking down Valencia St this evening, heard some amazing live jazz playing through the open windows, saw the sign saying that it was currently happy hour ($2 off all drinks!), and decided to stop in to check the place out. Boy, am I glad that I did! The Interior Ambience (5/5) I was seated inside right near the trio of jazz musicians and fell in love with the mood. Each table had real candles, which complimented the dim interior lighting perfectly. The lighting paired with the live jazz made for an awesome, intimate experience. The tables are also spaced well enough apart where you can enjoy some privacy with whomever is accompanying you. I came here by myself on the way home from work, but can't wait to bring someone along. The Service (5/5) My waitress was extraordinarily kind as I explained to her that I was was waiting for friends to arrive before ordering my food. My friends couldn't make it, and she was even more understanding as I handed back the menu and ordered just a beer. I was hesitant about sticking around at the dining table after only ordering just one drink, but she was very congenial and we struck up a conversation about the group we were listening to. The whole staff made me feel very welcome. Highly recommend the ribs! So delicious, fall off the bone, melt in your mouth goodness. I'd skip the slaw, it wasn't doing anything for me.
