Food allergens were clearly marked on the menu board. I got chips and salsa on the side, which ended up being too spicy for me but I could tell it was a good quality. I have always stopped in on a regular basis to buy the chocolate chip cookies. I hadn't ordered food in some time. Today I did, and completely regretted it. As I watched the bowl being made I couldn't help but acknowledge the frugality of everything. I asked the cashier if they were watching food costs and she acknowledged, "yes, they are always watching food costs!" I guess that's why this bowl is under portioned. This isn't the revelation I was hoping for when I heard curry burritos, but it's a pretty good lunch spot on a college campus. The food is pretty healthy and clean feeling, so you don't feel gross after eating it, like many other fast food places. We tried the Tikka burrito with chicken and the Bangkok burrito with steak. My biggest complaint is that the burritos were like 70% rice, but the flavors still come through. The Tikka burrito had good tikka masala sauce and curried chickpeas, but it also came with cilantro lime rice and cucumber, which made for a pretty confusing flavor palette. Formerly known as Boloco, Inspired Burritos, Currito is located in the new and improved commercial strip near UC on Calhoun Street. According to management, the name change will hopefully evoke a connection in consumers with the word "burritos." I was so used to going to other national burrito establishments in the area and having to walk away with a burrito that lacked substantial flair, but Currito offers such a good variety of flavors to keep me interested. You have two options when ordering burritos, small or regular, or if you are carb conscious, you can skip the tortillas and order all the fixings into a bowl. If you're on the run and don't have time to think too hard, you can choose from seven offerings: the Classic, Summer, Bangkok, Teriyaki, Cajun, Mediterranean, Buffalo or you can build your own, by choosing fresh and healthy ingredients from the assembly station. Carnivores have their choice of grilled chicken and steak, while vegans can choose organic tofu. Picks: I always end up getting a regular burrito and build my own, with tofu of course ($5.49). The Bangkok flavoring is really a treat with Thai-style peanut sauce, Asian slaw, cucumbers, rice and flour tortilla. Also try the Soy Smoothie, made with soymilk, strawberries, bananas. Just ask that the honey be omitted. Highlights: The fact that Currito offers flavorful and unique tofu burritos and soy smoothies for under $10, is a plus in itself. A couple of weeks ago I tried a burrito from Currito for the first time. We arrived at the location near the University of Cincinnati campus for a late lunch. The restaurant was mostly empty so service was lightning quick. If you've been in a Chipotle (or other burrito shop) before, the concept will be very familiar. You can order either a burrito or a bowl starting at one end of the counter and then move along while it is being assembled to customize your meal just the way you like. Where Currito is different is that they specialize in ingredients and flavors other than that traditional Mexican ones, while still offering a "classic" burrito as well. For my lunch I decided to try one of the signatures burritos, the Mediterranean. This fills a whole wheat tortilla with house made hummus, tomato salsa, cucumber, feta cheese, brown rice, and balsamic vinaigrette. You then have your option of protein: grilled chicken, grilled steak, organic tofu, carnitas pork, or barbacoa. I went with the chicken and also added on the meal option to include chips and salsa as well as a drink for $2.49 more. The burrito was of normal size compare to other burrito shops. The taste was like something I have never had before though, and I really enjoyed it. The hummus and feta combination worked especially well with the tang from the balsamic vinaigrette. I would definitely order this burrito again, but with so many other signature burritos to choose from I would have a hard time repeating the same order. My wife ordered the Bangkok burrito with Thai-style peanut sauce, Asian slaw, cucumbers, and cilantro lime rice in a flour tortilla. Another nice thing about Currito is that you can order a smaller sized burrito, which was right up her alley. I stole a quick bite from this burrito and it was equally as good as the Mediterranean. When you grow tired of eating the same old burrito, Currito has four Cincinnati area locations to mix up something different to eat. With over 40 ingredients that can be added to your burrito, the options are nearly endless. read more

I went to Currito for the first time today with a friend. The food was fine, but the service was terrible. At first, the person at the register asked if it was our first time, we said yes, and then she nodded. She stood there as we waited for someone to take our order, without explaining that we needed to pay for our food before ordering. She then made a comment about how we didn't need to be wearing masks. Not that this matters, but I am a cancer survivor and need to wear a mask because of my weakened immune system. We could clearly see that we didn't need to be wearing masks; we were the only masked people in the restaurant. It put a sour taste in our mouths for the rest of the day. The person at the front desk said that Currito was better than Chipotle, but at Chipotle I don't feel demoralized after leaving. read more

My coworker had been telling me to try this place for awhile. He swore it was better than Chipotle as I am a Chipotle addict. I finally went and was VERY impressed! The variety of toppings and fillings is amazing. Chicken, steak and tofu. Also, a ton of sauces. The workers are very nice too! They not only have bowls, burritos or salads...they've got smoothies and cookies. Haven't tried either one. The only thing that I don't like about this location is the parking! You can park on the street...if there's a spot and if you're great at parallel parking (lol!) or you can park in the parking garage across the street. From the outside looking in you think "Oh, this is just another Chipotle" but woah baby was I wrong. With a diverse variety of flavors, from teriyaki to middle eastern, Currito is it's own thing. Though a bit out of my price range (about 8 dollars) it's so delicious. I chose to build my own bowl, with quinoa, lentils, tofu, veggies, hummus, making my own vegan dish. I was blown away by the flavors! Seriously I fell in love. It is a casual restaurant and was really quick to get through on a Thursday afternoon. It is set up like a bar where you walk down and pick what all goes in your bowl/burrito. The employees were fairly nice, not super welcoming but nice. I'd come back in a flash, if I had the moneys to spend. But for now we will just make it a once in a while place. read more

I just got back from eating lunch at Currito, a burrito place in Clifton. I must say that I love what Clifton and UC have done with that new area with all the restaurants on Calhoun Street. Anyway, we decided to go to Currito after a long debate on whether to go there over Five Guys or even B-dubs (Buffalo Wild Wings). Since none of us had been to Currito and we hadn't had burritos in awhile, we went with it, and I'm glad that we did. It reminded me a lot of the "Chipotle experience", but I figured it would be pretty similar. It is hard to do a burrito place like this and not be compared to Chipotle at this point. I did the same thing when I went to Qdoba and most "Americanized" Mexican places. The thing I liked about Currito over Chipotle was the selection. They had three different kinds of rice and I was able to get some caramelized onions and buffalo sauce on my normal chicken burrito. It was very flavorful and it had a sweet taste from the onions that I enjoyed, but I think I would do without them and try more of the buffalo sauce next time to try and get more of the spice. The portions were huge and they could barely fold my burrito, which broke half way through. I did go with the regular size burrito, but they offer a small size for $1 less. I also got the wheat tortilla instead of the flour since I know it is better for me and Chipotle doesn't offer it. With the burrito having so much flavor on its own, I didn't notice the wheat tortilla at all and would stick with the healthy choice. I also split some chips and salsa with the group which were good, but not as good as Chipotle's. I did like that they offered a sort of "combo" type deal if you get chips, salsa and a drink with your burrito for only an additional $2.49 more. So with the combo, you could get a small burrito, chips, salsa and a drink for around $8, which isn't too bad for the amount of food you get. After going into a food coma, we sat and talked for awhile, letting the food digest itself. Me and one of my co-workers had noticed when we ordered that they had giant chocolate chip cookies for only $.99! So we both were waiting for our stomachs to make some room for dessert and we both knew we wouldn't be able to tackle the whole cookie by ourselves. So at the last possible second while we were walking out the door, we decided to go in on one together and ate it on the car ride home. I would definitely recommend it to people if they are tired of the same old Chipotle burrito, and I hope to go back myself to try something else and maybe just get a small burrito so I have room for the cookie at the end. :D read more

Currito is a great change of pace for those that enjoy Burrito's or Burrito Bowls. Instead of traditional Mexican flavors, Currito has an international flavor that really hits the spot. As you walk up to the counter to place your order, look through the list of international delights to fill your burrito or bowl with. I have tried most of them and they truly are all good, but I have a few favorites. The Bangkok is my absolute favorite with check or steak along with Thai Peanut sauce, Asian slaw, cucumbers and rice - I also get Siracha put on mine. It is absolutely delicious in a bowl or a bowl. They also have one with Indian flavors that is very, very good - It is great in a burrito with Indian spices yogurt sauce and chickpeas as well as a few other things stuffed in there. Also, their smoothies are great! the Limeade one is my favorite! They only get a slight downgrade because I have had them forget to make my smoothies a number of times (I don't think many people order them). They could have had everything ready at the same time, but I seem to always have to wait for my smoothie because they forget. Oh well, it is worth the wait. read more

So the idea here is that Mediterranean, Mexican, Asian, and other ethnic foods all taste good wrapped up in a tortilla. It's a pretty good concept, really. I like their's Thai peanut burrito with tofu. It has a nice asian slaw in it that's cool and refreshing next to the rich, warm peanut sauce. My only complaint is that the staff is often a bit of a downer. They're not exactly rude, but they certainly aren't friendly. read more

Remember that episode of Family Guy in which Peter marries a slice of blueberry pie, then attempts to name said pie as the beneficiary of his life insurance policy? That's my relationship with Currito. I want to marry Currito. I want to have its delicious burrito babies. Then I want to devour those burrito babies. Currito is really the only restaurant on Calhoun whose food I regularly crave. This craving is only intensified by the fact that it appears only sporadically throughout the rest of the country, occasionally under the guise of Boloco, meaning I can only indulge every other quarter when I'm in school. Although I've tried most of the specialty burritos (I think they're preferable to the build your own), I usually cycle through the Buffalo Burrito and the Bangkok Burrito, and when I start tipping the scales a little too much for my liking, the Chinese Chicken Salad is pretty good as well. Bonus: they have decent smoothies-the Strawbana is my favorite-and cheap chocolate chip cookies too. Currito tends to get a bad rap from the Chipotle crowd, which distresses me given my unnatural obsession with the place. It's true that Currito is nowhere near authentic Mexican food, so if you're a die-hard Mexican or Chipotle fan, it probably won't compare. If you're not, give it a try, and who knows? Maybe one day you'll love it as much as me. But if you're planning on proposing, just remember-Currito's mine. read more

Without a doubt, my favorite of the Chipotle competitors. Currito offers a wide array of new toppings and goodness unfamiliar to Chipotle, one being the brown rice that Chipotle has finally adopted. But enough about Chipotle, this is all about Currito. Currito offers new and exciting flavors that one just isn't going to find elsewhere, and they're just about all on the healthy side as well! These include mango salsa, almonds, caramelized onions, feta cheese, wheat wraps, tofu, and more! In addition to making the burrito/bowl more exciting, they also offer some bangin' smoothies to keep you going. Every single one of these (yes, I've had them all) is delicious and each offer different "boosts" (i.e.: energy shot, fat burner) to give them that extra kick! I'm already a Chipotle fan, but there is always room in my life for another solid burrito joint. The idea of strange ingredients brought me in. I've heard a lot of good things about this place, but when I got there, I thought - let's find out if I'd like it more than Chipotle. So, I got the same thing I would've gotten there. It was excellent. However, there were two stand-out things that I got because I couldn't get them at Chipotle - carmelized onions and the grill press. Oh yeah, well worth it. Also, I was surprised that the place doesn't have any curry on the menu. I mean, it IS called "Curri"to. Anyways, I would say it was slightly better than Chipotle and also a little different, but the real winner is me because I can eat at either. A few of my colleagues put in an order the other day but as I wasn't sure what would or wouldn't have cilantro (I'm allergic) I passed even though the menu sounded really good. Luckily another colleague and I were in Clifton last week so we popped in to grab lunch. I was right in thinking all the Mexican style options would have cilantro, but luckily the Thai style Bangkok burrito did not. I love Thai food and I love burritos so it seemed like a natural combination to me. I had to go for brown rice (white has cilantro) and chose to have mine with chicken. My colleague went for the same but with tofu. They were SO good! The peanut sauce definitely had a kick to it and was spicier than I'd expected but not too spicy. My colleague also got the Jimmy Carter smoothie with soy instead of dairy and said it was the nicest smoothie she'd had in a long time. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying some of the other options. It's a nice twist on the typical burrito! read more
