Cuzzy's is amazing. If a small hole in the wall joint that serves awesome drinks is your jam you should check it out. Went here the other night before a show at Acme Comedy Club. Order the usual Long Island. It was served tall and strong just like God intended. Ordered the Rachel with tots and seasoned sour cream to accompany the Long Island. Sandwich had the perfect amount of turkey and sauerkraut. Could have used a bit more thousand island dressing but what can I say, I like it juicy. Tots were perfectly crispy and the seasoned sour cream was nice and thick and actually seasoned. The place is bare bones basic with a small parking lot that holds maybe about a dozen vehicles. We did not park there but I believe parking is free. The decor is original. Thousands upon thousands of dollar bills take up every speck of space. They do not supply dollar bills but they do have markers and tape at the bar to use if you do not happen to have those items with you. :) I was happy with everything about the experience. Payed for and played an iconic song and it was swiftly skipped even though they allowed the same song to play 2/3 times in addition to some reps Also the staff seems more interested in talking with each other than any clients. I've been wanting to bring more people here but after dozens of meetings and intros to the place I've given up hope. Stopped here before a concert. Has an appetizer sampler : Wings , fries, chicken wings , onion rings , and chicken strips. All of it was good. Chicken fingers were exceptionally good. Just a perfect neighborhood bar, albeit it's a half hour walk for us. Cheap food, good tap list, and a willingness to put the Boston Celtics on a TV for a couple of immigrants. (And put up with us during a double overtime heartbreaker, and then a drawn-out regulation impossible victory.) Great friendly service, just what we needed. Can we say dive bar... because that's what this place is. It looks almost too divey from the outside, but the inside is fantastic...in that dive bar kind of way. My friends and I came because...well, we were in the area and it was on our list. Walking in, it did not disappoint. It was better. There's more than just the bar. There are long tables too that look like they'll probably be sticky, but it's just what it is. And the other thing you notice are all the decorated dollar bills that adorn the walls. This will make you want to add a piece of you and join the fray. And thus, you casually mention this and BAM markers show up in front of you so you can decorate your own dollar bill! The service is simple because...what are you expecting? The bartender was nice. We got to try some beer and then we drank some beer. we just hung out and took it all in. it's a dive with a slope :) You walk in and you walk a little down hill! They were very accommodating for our group of 8 people randomly on a Saturday brunch. They gave us our own coffee pot and water jugs to help the process along. The cheese curds were delicious, we had two rounds of them. I had a very simple eggs and toast which turned out exactly how I wanted! I hear they have free parking but I did not use their lot. All my breakfast buddies really seemed to enjoy their brunch items. I would go back again for some cheapish good eats, great service and to see if out dollar bills are still up! read more

What a gem this place is. You'll notice the dollar bills covering every inch of the bar as soon as you walk in which is the sign that you're in a total dive bar. We spent a solid 5 minutes debating how many thousands of dollars were on the wall, we guessed about 10K. I am not the girl who has approximately 37 BFF's (OMG WTF!!!111!1!1!!!) so my "bachelorette" party was probably lame by most people's standards, especially since my favorite part of the night was spent in a dirty dive bar. Ahhh, they are my people. This is what we did: We went out for enchiladas. Then we went to Gluek's and had a beer because I hadn't been there since 2003 and remembered having fun there when I was an under 25-er. Then we sat at Shout House for an hour or so and watched some obese bachelorettes heave themselves on top of the pianos to be serenaded by the employees. Then I put my foot down and said I couldn't handle downtown anymore and we headed straight for Cuzzy's. We spent the rest of the night sitting on the back patio drinking Surly in a haze of cigarette smoke and cracking jokes at the expense of the The Loop patrons. This is what we didn't do: There was no screaming. There was no flashing. There were no penis napkins, necklaces or straws. I didn't kiss any strange men. Great little neighborhood dive bar. The kind of place that has some character. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. Great place to turn up late the night before Easter, and rattle on loudly about Zombie Jesus. Yeah, I love Cuzzy's. Their drinks are strong and very well priced. The servers are sweet and on their game. They serve Fulton and Bender. I'm more of a pitcher of Coors kind of girl, though, when I'm drinking here. The food: I can't say enough. Their bleu cheese and mushroom burger rocks my world, as do their tots. And honestly? You're not going to find a place with better bar food. A personal favorite is their skinny dip-basically taco dip...in a bar. I love it. They also have a sizeable Tex-Mex section to their menu, and it includes their quesadilla, which is about the size of the Hulk's forearm, but a whole lot more delicious. uh, how haven't i written a review of Cuzzy's? Possibly bc I've always had so much fun there that I'd forgotten about even being there. ;) Cuzzy's is decieving. On the surface, it appears to be a quintessential dive bar. It's got just the type of divey ambiance that I look for on my hunt for a contender to replace my long lost beloved Al's. But then it throws you a curve ball because it has amazing food! Seriously, the best "upscale" bar food in town. There's even a daily special board! Seriously! Cuzzy's is like another dimension of bar. You'll notice what looks like a Fazoli's sign. You enter this Cuzzy's dimension under that sign. There are dollar bills padding the whole windowless interior, the servers are typically awesome and their bar food (tater tots!) is surprisingly excellent. Especially when you've spent your afternoon day-drinking. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner 'til relatively late and Fulton on tap. I've also been known to enjoy the patio out back, which ('nother surprise) comes with a skyline view. It's really the last vestige of dive in the North Loop. This "dive" bar kind of snuck up on me! I live in the North Loop/Warehouse District and just a short walk away from Cuzzy's. I'd never really given much thought to going inside for close to a year but decided to check it out since I could walk over. My cousin and I ordered burgers -- I had the S.O.B. burger. I really enjoyed the burger. My cousin liked it too, which is high praise because he is picky and tougher to please than me. I actually fell in love with Cuzzy's when I returned for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I ordered a Mushroom omlette! OMG! Seriously? The cuisine wasn't anything I expected to be served at a "dive" bar! The decor is probably what one would expect of a dive bar. It's cool to see all of the dollar bills that people have decorated and left on the walls (and ceiling). I've been three times now, twice with friends visiting from out of town. The wait staff is friendly and attentive! This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities and I think that's high praise! :) I heart Cuzzy's! read more

Cuzzy's has kind of lost its allure. I used to live a block away and came in all the time for fried bar food and the casual atmosphere. The bartenders and waitresses were friendly, knew their stuff, and knew us. Admittedly, I'm the one who moved. But when I came in last night, everything was just off. There were no daily specials (maybe that's a Saturday thing, but I thought they always had specials). We had to ask them to turn the sound on for the game. The games at the back of the bar were gone. Our $100 pesos weren't hanging near the kitchen anymore. And our waitress was, well, kind of a bitch despite the fact that our table spent around $200. She was attentive though - for the most part, our drinks were always full. I don't know. Maybe it's still the same on weekdays, or maybe our waitress was having a bad night... but I kind of doubt it. The best dive bar in Minneapolis with thousands of dollars and a few pesos taped to the walls. It is the sort of place you feel like a regular at even if you're not. The staff is really friendly and does an awesome job. The food is really good. My favorites are the nachos (minus the lettuce), crab wednesdays, sloppy joe specials and the quesadilla is delicious and huge. Really dig Cuzzys. There's a lot to love here-- the divey vibe, the fact that you can stop in here post-fancy cocktails at a North Loop hotspot for a good ol' beer, the dollar bills all over the walls, the relatively cheap for North Loop prices. They have some really good burgers (one time I sat at the bar and watched the Crossfit Games, enjoying burgers and wings in an act of self pity #becauseimworthit). I really enjoy going here as a stop before we head somewhere crazy like Club Jäger (thumbs up) or The Loop (thumbs down), because you can actually find a seat and carry a conversation. Service is always really friendly, even on the busy weekends. Every time I'm drunk here I feel the need to order the tater tots, which are like five bucks and could probably feed a family of five. Seriously, this is a mountain of MN spud goodness. If you haven't been to Cuzzy's yet, I would definitely recommend it. This is a good little downtown dive and adds some variety to the more higher-end North Loop. You'll immediately notice the diversity of clientele from blue-collar to white and everything in between. The $1 decor is basically there to cover the drab walls and is fun to look at: I even found a Spongebob dollar bill. I was surprised there was no Grainbelt of any kind on draught and beer prices (outside of happy hour) weren't all that divey: $5 for a Summit EPA. I found it interesting that on either side of me at the bar that patrons were digging into crab legs legs: didn't expect to see that scene outside of New England, that's for sure. I wasn't that hungry and just got a half order of tots, which were OK but a bit too salty, but whatever, they're tots. Everyone was eating an entree of some kind, so I'll probably give the real food a try sometime. Then there was the conversation between a regular and one of the bartenders about living forever in a computer chip when we have the technology, but when to finally pull the plug. Well, I think this has to say something about the quality of the bar and locals who frequent it for this to be my first random visit on an early weeknight evening. Cuzzy's has to be one of the more unusual bars we've seen in quite awhile. But actually it was a fun place. Very much a sports bar with lots of TV's going with anything to do with NHL/NCAA hockey & NBA/NCAA basketball. The really great thing tho was that the hype we'd heard about their hamburgers & fries was well deserved. And the service was great. Never saw the bottom of anything we were drinking. But the burgers, those were REALLY good. All kinds of clever names for a big selection of different burgers to choose from. Ours were excellent. They were good sized but my wife and I both finished ours off which is unusual for us. We're long past woofing our food down in world record time. These burgers were well worth going slow with. The best burger I've ever had was at a posh restaurant in Chicago for $22 bucks. Hadn't come across any burger in the States or abroad in my travels as delicous as that one...until now. The SOB burger at Cuzzy's is the BEST burger in Minneapolis. Period. So many taverns, beer halls, and divey places in Minneapolis charge $12 and up for burgers nowadays...which is absolutely insane. But, Cuzzy's charges $7-$8 for their burgers(which includes plentiful sides)! How about that? A more than reasonable price. Can I get an, Hallelujah?! The exception is the $23 burger -but you get a whole lot for what you pay for. That burger is supposedly huge, the size of your head I imagine?! Have not yet been brave enough to order that one, I'm in the North Loop daily so I often frequent Cuzzy's for lunch. The ladies there always take great care of their customers and do their job well! Never a wrong order, never a slow pace, and never a snafu to come up. The crowd is a mix of construction workers, cops, and the local creative professionals in the area. Their tap selection isn't anything to get excited about, but they have some good local crafts as well as the millers of the world. The foods good. What's a dive bar doing next to all these trendy condos? Maybe it's because there's only so much of The Loop than you can handle. Instead of a fancy, expensive bar you would expect to find in the North Loop, you get Cuzzy's. The place is entertainment for eye when you first walk in. The bar is composed of thousands of dollar bills plastered on its wall and local patrons that are of the young professional kind. The big TVs can be a distraction but is awesome if you come to watch a game or the latest reality TV series of your choice. Just ask for the remote! More often than not, you will find yourself in a conversation with someone at the bar than with the person you came with. Really though, if you hang out at the bar long enough you're likely to be the recipient of a shot from a tipsy neighbor. The bartenders here are the best! They're genuine, honest, and friendly. And you're likely to come across the same ones that might remember you! How often does that happen downtown? Don't expect too much for beer and liquor selection though. They have everything you would expect from any bar but that's why you went to a dive bar, right? But they do have a Happy Hour and drinks are generally cheaper than most downtown bars. PBR Tallboys are also always $3. The food is great if you're looking for some bar food. Better than most bars and they always have a daily special going on. Their crab dinner is very good and they have great burgers! The homemade tortilla chips are also awesome. The kitchen is also *usually* open until 11 p.m. which helps your drunk night go by more smoothly. As far as parking, they now are leasing the lot next to it, which is free! There's also free street parking after 6pm, weekdays. And the best for last, the patio. Perfect place for some drinks before or after a Twins game. What makes it great is its location - it's in north loop area, which has a bunch of trendy/hip places. Sometimes you need to escape from the dudes with cooler haircuts than you and hang with some normal guys in plain white tees. Definitely good for a relaxed hang out with friends, but if you're looking for something more rowdy, you're better off going somewhere like the Loop/Tangiers.. if you're looking for something more trendy/hip, you're better off going to some place like Marvel. read more

As I continue to search for a "me" place in Minneapolis, I made a stop at this place. It's one of those places that can easily become your neighborhood bar to go to on a Tuesday night. If I had to choose one word to describe the clientele, I wouldn't be able to do that. Every time I've been there, I've seen all types of people. It's very cozy and just perfect to hang out with friends and catch up. I hear the food is good, but I have not yet tried it, as my primary purpose when I go there is to kick back with friends, and the best way to do that is with a cold beer. I'll have to try the food though sometime to confirm the allegations that it is indeed good. Finally, don't let its outside appearance get to you. I actually like that it looks beat up from the outside, that way, the uppity snooty people turn their noses at it and stay out. The food is amazing- especially the sandwiches- and the appetizers are almost all deep friend and wildly delicious. Their onion rings are thicker than most and come with special dipping sauce. The ambiance of the place is pretty sweet as well. Very much a dive bar, it is completely decorated in colored dollar bills, and the service has always been very friendly. A friend and I were here a couple weeks ago for lunch on a Saturday. We were hungry and I said I wanted a "pub burger & fries." Unfortunately (although I didn't know it at the time) I was coming down with a cold, so I only wound up having a few bites of my burger before I felt full. On the plus side: our waitress was attentive, the food is reasonably priced, and you pay the same price if you order the curly fries! The only negative comment I would make is that the length of the bar runs on a slight downward incline, but most people probably don't notice it because the drop in grade is so slight..
