Local dive bar done right. I did not eat, but I enjoyed this place for what it is. The cool stair stepped bar, the dollar bills covering walls and ceiling, the friendly and fast bar tender. I was there waiting for my hubby who had an interview across the street. During my wait I saw a people in hoodies, and people in suits. Every one seemed comfortable. No one looked out of place. So, this part of town feels like the middle of nowhere but I'm glad I trekked over there! (They have a parking lot for you drivers) Was over at the Alliance Francaise for an event that got canceled. And nothing says 'substitute for classy French movie' like a dive bar with dollar bills all over the walls. Ordered a burger to split with my buddy (don't judge me) :) and when it came out there were two plates with 2 burgers.... Me: Oh, sorry, we didn't actually order 2 burgers, we only ordered 1 to split. Server: Oh I know, we just split it for you on two plates. Me: This is half a burger? Server: Yep! Me: srsly? Server: Yep! So, things I learned: The servers are SO NICE (who ever splits an entree for you without even asking?), burgers are delicious, and ginormous w/ 1/2 a burger being plenty for dinner, tots are yummy. I was lured in by the ghost stories. I am a sucker for a good dose of interesting. Still haven't seen the ghost, but I did find the interesting. Great little neighborhood bar! Yummy tots. Good beer selection. Fun trivia. I can sit and read the dollar bills hanging off of the walls for hours. What really makes the place for me though is Danny, the bartender. He attracts a fun group of people who grab their barstools and settle in for some conversation and socializing. I always meet interesting and nice folks at that bar. Ultra dive. It kinda looks like the Triple Rock and First Ave came together and gave birth to a basement rec room....or something. I definitely liked it....popped in for a drink or two during a pub crawl. The 'decor' is really dingy and bizarre, but in a good way. Decorated dollar bills are everywhere and there's a lot of weird crap to look at. I could certainly see coming back before or after a game, or just while in the area. Cute little dive bar with dollars all over the wall! The bathroom stalls are a tight squeeze, so if you are claustrophobic - you might want to avoid this! They have decent beers on tap and besides the dollars, the decorations are a little sparse. We didn't eat here, but would like to come back and try it - the menu looks awesome! One of the most comfortable and tasty spots in downtown. Going here is like putting on a comfortable pair of sweats. I love the low-key, pretense-free atmosphere. And free parking. The tatchos are to be loved. The burgers are simple and good. No frills, but also not $14. Their breakfasts are perfectly greasy and tasty. Try the pancake. Yes, singular. It's as big as a dinner plate and can be made with blueberries or chocolate chips. Both are guaranteed to satisfy. The wait staff is friendly, attentive and pretty quick to refill drinks. Great place! Very decent beer selection, reasonable prices, and a really great staff. What surprisingly sets this place apart though is the food! Crab legs on Wednesday are definitely worth it. Menu is fairly typical bar fare but everything I've had is way above average! So beer, food, friendly staff...what more could this guy want? Cuzzy's is the best bar in the North Loop. Breakfast and Lunch foods are both well above average for a bar, price is reasonable for the neighborhood, and has a good vibe. Back patio during the warmer days is recommended. The grilled cheese with bacon and the cajun cheese curds are probably the best food items they have. Don't leave without ordering a shot of polish or playing Africa by Toto on the TouchTunes. read more

The cajun chicken pasta was really a treat. Had an excellent flavor and just the right amount of spice. The bar tender was super sweet super nice and very attentive i believe she was from Seattle (Rachael). Recommended a local beer that complinted my food just right. The portions were big and for 9.99 it was a killer deal. I would recommend a more diverse local beer selection but overall I was glad i stumbled into this place. read more

I consider myself somewhat of a dive bar connoisseur and I love Cuzzy's; the bartenders, the surprisingly good food (including the all-you-can-eat crab legs Wednesdays), and the dollar bills with enough character to keep a person entertained for an entire evening. Most of all, I thoroughly enjoy the randomness of the "salt of the earth" clientele. I appreciate the fact that I could get piss drunk and make all sorts of new friends. This particular dive bar has yet to become the "hip" location for suburbanites (ie Liquor Lyle's). And I hear the mushroom Swiss burger is fabulous. If you want bumping music, frat boy antics and scantily clad women - this is NOT the place. Enjoy! read more

Cuzzy's is my other home. The staff is great and the drinkers are fantastic. Many a nights have I stumbled here for a last call before heading home. There is no excuse to go home hungry during breakfast, lunch or dinner. Taco Tuesday is my favorite day of the week. Good taco's go down even better with a cold beer. Call some friends and turn it into a regular thing. Sure people call it a dive bar but being from northern Wisconsin it's just like home. read more

I had the corned beef hash, two eggs over easy and toast. Wife had chorizo hash. We both thought it was very good. Pretty decent bloody mary as well. I brought the issue up and the response was an indifferent "yea, we've been dealing with this for years" there's a difference in dive bars and flat unclean bars. I like tots. My tots like tots. My tots like to stick to other tots. I like to pop them in my mouth this way. This way I get a two-fer. Kind of like a Menage a tot. Cuzzy's has the hottest tots around. They also have pretty good nacho's, burgers and daily specials. Add any one of these to a stiff drink and a dark dive atmosphere, and you have the best place to go in the north loop. Let's hope they do not spit shine the place too much for the new Twins crowds. It's a total dive bar. I haven't eaten here, just stopped in for a drink before a Twins game. My drink was a $3 PBR tall boy (score!). There's a decent patio out back, but I'm guessing there are better spots to pre-game. Didn't love it, but don't hate it. The history of the place is really cool though. read more

Cuzzy's is the perfect neighborhood booze joint. A little kitschy, good sized "patio" in the back, good pours, decent food, and good bartenders. I avoid it on Twins game days - just like everywhere in the North Loop - but otherwise it's a great place to hit up any night of the week. read more

Downtown can be a little too pricey for me and a little too high-heeled, so having Cuzzy's as an option is like my happy thought that can send me flying into their doors for a cheap rum and coke. Checked out this place before the Twins game the other night, had a great time. The servers are friendly, but not the annoying friendly, just the efficient friendly. Despite it being a total dive bar, the food is very good! Great atmosphere before Twins game, crowded but not to the point where you are fighting for a drink. Just a laid back people, plus it's close to the 6 gate at Target Field which is considerably less busy than the main entrance off the plaza. I can totally see this becoming my new favorite pre-Twins game destination. read more
