I come and drop off a prescription and the pharmacist takes it and walks away. After 2 minutes of standing there like Forest Gump staring into the sunset, I sit down. 30 MINUTES LATER I get up to check and she says, "oh hey we need your address to get started" I understand I was sitting 3.5 feet away which is super far, but I'm sure she could have shouted. I was then instructed to get back in line. Oh joy. At this point I my veins in my forehead and neck are about to burst from the anger. Then another pharmacist helps me at a pace that if was any slower we'd be going back in time. After an eternity she then says ok, come back in an hour! CVS Pharmacy is trash. I will be canceling all of my prescriptions and switching to a different pharmacy after my horrible experiences with 3 different cvs locations. So, CVS does this thing where you pay $30 and they can prescribe you birth control for a year without you having to see a doctor. When I was trying to get my next birth control pack at the sunset location, I was not able to because their system has been down for A WEEK. Seriously... how does a billion dollar company have a broken system for that long? Well, you would think that it would be simple to transfer my prescription to a different location, but no, it gets even more complicated... Next, I tried to get it refilled at the Melrose location. When I called them and explained what had happened, they told me I would need to pay the $30 annual fee again since I would be getting it at a new location? That is not true and even the manager at sunset confirmed that I wouldn't have to pay the fee again since I should still have refills for the next 6 months! I told them to call the sunset location to figure it out, and when they finally called me back they told me everything was fine and they would refill my prescription... but when I went in there to pick it up they had no idea what I was talking about and they wouldn't give me my prescription! Such a waste of time. Then, I went into the sunset location and told them that the Melrose location wouldn't give me my prescription and the manager gave me such an attitude. Oh also their system was STILL DOWN so they couldn't help me at all! I decided to try one last time, so I called the location on Santa Monica Blvd and the lady on the phone was so rude, and was telling me information that was completely different from what the sunset manager told me, and I am still unable to get my prescription. I can't believe the cvs workers have the audacity to give me an attitude when they are the ones who are incompetent, misinformed, and don't even have a computer system that works properly! There is a parking lot. So that helps. And it's large. There is also an elevator taking you from the top floor of the parking lot to the store level. But I wouldn't go in there on a dare. There is a "Minute Clinic" so if you have a minor illness (bladder infection, need a flu shot or vaccinations, etc...) you can see a nurse practitioner. The place is kind of a mess most of the time. It's always busy so it never feels "clean". Long lines almost always to fill a script. Prices are relatively high but get a CVS card to take advantage of deals - and bring your coupons! It's a very, um, interesting crowd in here. You're bound to see one or two things that make you say "only in LA". One thing I really dislike about this place is that the checkout is almost exclusively "self checkout". I hate that for many reasons - mainly it's anti-worker and is taking jobs from actual humans, so I avoid self checkout like the plague. But here that's usually your only option. They have a smallish food section with some limited "fresh" selections like fruit and sandwiches. They don't look very good but if you're desperate... maybe. read more

I have a lot of time on my hands right now because I have been on hold for over an hour trying to get ahold of the pharmacy. I was told yesterday that my prescription would be filled first thing this morning. It is almost 5pm and it is still saying "on hold" and instructing me to contact the pharmacy on the app to get it filled, which is what I did YESTERDAY. The medication that I am now behind on can cause SEIZURES if stopped abruptly. This location consistently causes issues similar to this and it's unacceptable. This is a very well stocked pharmacy. As a patient who is often prescribed Rx'd for a multitude of reasons, it's good to know they will likely have an item in stock, as well as anticipate monthly refills to ensure proper stock. Also, they are probably the best stocked CVS for all items health, food, cosmetic or otherwise. My problem is with the staff. They fall into three categories: 1. unqualified, underutilized technicians. 2. Over-worked, well-meaning Pharmacists, and 3. Jaded, judgmental,unsympathetic "everyone's an addict" Pharmacists. Today, I came in to pickup numerous meds. There were three CIII controlled medication out of six total that required prior authorization. Needless to say, it's for narcolepsy--a condition I wouldn't wish on anyone. Their indifference towards working out a solution, incessantly asking for identification and lying about not accepting drug discount cards was appalling. The pharmacy industry has a hard job. But it's easy to determine the problem patients/providers from the legitimate patients who happen to take a few controlled Rx's. These jokers need to learn to empathize and remember they are in the business of patient care. I wish I could go elsewhere, but My insurance plan has me locked into CVS. do not go here after any emergency surgery that you've been prescribed a controlled substance such as tylenol with codeine because they will accept the prescription and then tell you they are out of stock. they will not transfer the prescription to another location because it's a controlled substance, so in the meantime, you will have to wait 3-4 days for a restock and in other words live in pain. by the time they get it i won't need it!!! i hate these people. i bet they never run out of their deadly vaccines, though!!!!! read more

I am a medical provider. I have never experienced such unprofessional behavior by a pharmacist. I prescribed a long existing, safe, well studied medication for my patient. The medication was specific to my specialty and indicated for what I prescribed for. The pharmacist told my patient she was using her best clinical judgement and would not fill the prescription. This not only showed complete lack of understanding of the medications mechanism of action and many studies over the past 2 decades, it showed disregard and disrespect for a fellow medical provider. Pharmacists routinely call providers if there is any concern. This allows for a secure collaborative system of checks, balances, and growth in understanding. This pharmacist has no regard for patients or colleagues. A simple google search would yield a plethora of studies and decades of information on this drug for exactly what I prescribed it for. If she used a drug app or book which describes mechanism of action, she would be able to conclude it is appropriate and safe. If she called me, I would have happily shared as much info as she was interested in listening to as I know all of the studies and data. I am concerned for the safety of patients this pharmacist serves. She has proved she is not interested in learning or respecting patients or providers. I contacted corporate cvs and filed a complaint to shed light on her deficiencies. I have yet to receive a call back which is concerning as well. Patients, please advocate for yourself. Contact your provider if you are denied your prescription, given unsatisfactory patient education, or have any questions/concerns. Medical personnel are servants of their patients, not the other way around. CVS, I hope to hear back from you and learn you rectified this situation. read more

The main store manager should no longer work there... they lied to me about HIPAA, which I knew was a blatant lie because I know a lot about the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. The store manager passed on the lie to the cashier. I asked to speak to the manager, so they put me on hold. They left me on hold for 12 minutes before I hung up. I called back afterwards 3 times and they didn't answer. Clearly they were trying to avoid talking to me. I also did end up coming in and asked to speak to the store manager. He declined talking to me and sent a minion. You're really that busy, bro? I would be willing to wait to talk to you. But now I gotta write a yelp review. Fire that person, please. Good experience here with Minute Clinic; they should do more to promote it. You can see a nurse practitioner for a minor illness and they take most insurance. I also called my insurance company ahead of time to confirm it would be accepted here. It's great they are open until 7 pm to make it convenient for working people. If you time it right you may not have to wait long. Was here 5:30pm on a weekday and I was first in line though more people started trickling in before 6pm. The thing that took 'long' was filling out my info in the sign-in kiosk because it was my first time. I also got my prescription in about 20 minutes. It would be really cool if they let you fill out all that info in advance online before you show up in person. I spent less than an hour here and that's less time I've spent at a doctor's visit so that's a plus. I parked first level without any problem though I initially skipped the elevator due to previous reader comments. I don't feel it's that bad. It's strange to not have locks on the bathrooms. Yes, they're a chain that has swallowed up a lot of smaller drugstores/pharmacies lately, but they have just about anything you could want if you don't feel like going to Target or a bigger supermarket/store. There's a CVS parking garage next door (entrance on Santa Monica) so you don't need to try and find street parking. In times like this where everything has gone up from gas price, groceries, even fast food all the way up to our stress levels...it seems like everybody is in a rat race, constantly chased and always in a rush just to barely make it through the day..these things push our limits, trigger our minds, spark our boiling point and ultimately testing our character and strength.. but then again, there are angels. And in this CVS branch, Darwin (manager) is my angel. He was very helpful, knew everything from sugarscrubs down to diapers, answered all my questions, breezed me through the entire process with a dash of wit and a doze of laughter and to top it all, I saved so much money considering all the things that i got. Every time I called this pharmacy the hold time goes for at least 40 minutes and often over one hour. Very frustrating as no one comes back on the phone to answer you call. After waiting for more than one hour one has to hang up... it really sucks. read more

I come to this CVS, merely because it is the closest drug store to where I live. Convenient, is not how I would label it. It is so inconvenient to get in and out of their parking, then either make use of their spooky, aging elevator or walk the smelly stairs to get to the store. Once you finally enter the store, you then begin the maze to find what you came for, if you still remember. And since they have just finished remodeling and are still changing the store around, there is a good chance that everything will be rearranged each time you come to shop. Though I must add that they are very helpful in assisting lost customers and the store is becoming more welcoming and easier to shop each time that I come back. read more

I had such a great experience at the pharmacy today. The younger gentleman with great hair working the Consultation station today (11/21/19) was super polite, attentive, and fast! I was in and out in 15 minutes, and I was a walk-in! He recognized my name from when I was on hold earlier and the call got dropped. There is a pharmacist there that is so incredibly rude each time I go in. I smile, ask her how her day is going and she just rolls her eyes. She is the only one who doesn't wear a name tag. I had to get a prescription filled but the doctor didn't mark an exact quantity, so she said they had to call the doctor. This was on a Friday evening. I asked if they would call on Monday and she literally said "MAYBE." Maybe? Dude, this is a prescription I need. Maybe is not a good answer. I have no clue what her name is but last time I was in, she had henna tattoos all over her hands and wrists. Plus they never even call when my prescriptions are ready half the time. I have been coming to this store for years and can not believe how it has steadily gone down hill. The customer service is atrocious and they never have anything in stock. When you have a question you are lucky if you find someone and when you do they act like you are imposing on their day. I completely understand why everyone buys online now. Today was definitely the tipping point for me. I have been buying a specific schedule planner from them for the last 12 years and today I was given the most absurd excuse for why it is no longer carried. We needed more space. But you still carry all the other products from this company and replaced this one item with a much more inferior product. Uh... I... I'm not sure. Insanely long waits. Pharmacists (not pharmacy workers or cashiers -- they do their best and work hard) are rude, careless, and openly judgmental of patients with tattoos, piercings, and important, life-saving psychiatric medications. Illegal privacy violations in re: asking for private session notes from doctors in order to fill certain prescriptions, an unofficial policy enforced haphazardly and inconsistently with certain patients only, clearly profiling & baseless judgment being used. Pharmacies are allowed to call and verify prescription information with doctors, but session notes are over and above normal procedure. CVS corporate has confirmed this is not official policy; staff at this location (including and especially pharmacists) are unable to explain the policy and fumble incoherently through examples that do not pertain in any way to your case & still do not explain rationale for "policy," all while staring at your tattoos and rolling their eyes at you. Whether your meds are in the psychiatric category or not, do not waste your money, energy, or time at this place. Unethical, spectacularly rude, and disrespectful. Finally had enough of the abuse, reported them to corporate, the state pharmacy board, and a consumer privacy advocacy group, and have switched to Walgreens, who treat me like a human being who deserves respect, and even though I'm a first time customer, as a patron who deserves to be taken care of and thanked for my business. CVS, thanks for the disrespect and abuse. You're welcome for the thousands of dollars I spent there in the hours I wasted waiting for prescriptions in your filthy stores. read more

YELLED and SCREAMED AT! I hate to feel compelled to write when I have horrible experiences but today I couldn't ignore. I've been a customer of CVS for years and years. It's my preferred pharmacy and nick knack go to! A lot know that CVS has a relatively new Self Checkout area. Tonight at 8 pm, Aug 14th (CVS REVIEW THE SELF CHECKOUT FOOTAGE), I wasn't feeling well, just got out of the ER and was waiting for my prescription to be filled. I grabbed a handful of items and took to self-checkout, before then however I stopped by the coupon machine to print out my available coupons. I went on to the self-checkout​, started ringing myself up, no one around. Suddenly a woman appeared that worked for CVS at the end of my checkout process and acknowledged me, as I had scanned a couple of coupons and it told me to put them into the slot. First time I had ever scanned coupons myself but everyone knows about the famous overwhelming amount CVS gives to you. At first,​ I thought I had completed it correctly and as I was finishing it asked me if I wanted a bag, I said yes. Then I clicked Pay, and that's when it said:​ "Wait for Attendant". The lady was nowhere around so I decided to grab the 1 bag, and then after standing there for a few minutes I started putting the items in the bag. The lady finally arrived very upset and said, "What Happened?", Me: I have no idea, I assume that's why it called you over? CVS LADY: with a loud and upset voice, "Why did you put these items in the bag? YOU HAVE TO WAIT TO PAY FOR THE ITEMS AT THE END BEFORE THEY GO IN THE BAG!", ME: "okay, no where does it say this. Nobody was around, I already added the bag to my checkout, I assumed it was safe to place the items in the bag?." CVS LADY: (with a loud voice) No you have to put them in at the end after you pay! ME: Got it. Okay! CVS LADY: You only get a discount for one coupon, why did you scan all the coupons? ME: Because they're coupons, they were given to me, and it rejected all but two of them. CVS LADY: Very huffy and puffy "Now I need to pull the coupons out that you put in the slot. ME: Okay. CVS LADY: You should have Gotten more discounts with that many coupons. ME: okay CVS LADY: NOW ITS ALL MESSED UP. I WISH YOU WOULD HAVE NOT PLACED THE ITEMS IN THE BAG AND SCANNED ALL THESE COUPONS!!!! ME: How am I to know if I did it right? It said rejected with the rejected coupons and told me to place the ones that it accepted in the slot in the slot. Which I did. I don't know how I could have done it any different. CVS LADY: IM CANCELLING AND STARTING THIS ALL OVER! She continues on and cancels it out, re-rings everything. Then goes through my coupons and asks me if the coupon can be applied. I said I have no idea, there's literally 10 of them and she's yelling at me with a loud voice. I told her I didn't appreciate her yelling at me, and she said she wasn't yelling. I said, you are yelling I'm talking with a calm quiet voice and you're clearly yelling. Everyone around us can hear you! She then says: I'm just upset you're​ doing this all wrong and aren't listening! I say​ I'm only standing here and allowing you to process this. I'm listening and being respectful. She then stops and says okay you checkout yourself then. I was trying to help you, but you know what you're doing so YOU CAN DO IT. I'm a bit shocked and extremely disappointed in CVS for employing someone like this.... Not feeling well, standing at this self checkout for 20 minutes. (NOT JOKING) I finally say, "I no longer want your help, and I will go to a regular checkout at the other side of the store." I finally did. The checkout at a regular checkout took 3 minutes. This lady shouldn't be helping anyone in customer service. I'll never allow her to help me again. read more

I had gone to Horton & Converse for 4 years. Then CVS bought Horton & Converse. I was hoping they would try to do better with their service. That unfortunately is not the case. I went in to fill my first prescription on Saturday, May 4th, and the on call pharmacist was very nice to me and said "we're doing our best to make the transition go smoothly. Don't worry about your medications being in stock, we should have everything." Well one of my prescriptions was not transferred. The bottle clearly is clearly dated 3/30/19 and said "2 prescriptions." I had that prescription filled at CVS a year before when I couldn't get to my regular Horton & Converse. So they kept saying "no you haven't refilled that one for a year." It took a good 5 minutes for them to actually have a look at the bottle. They said they would call my doctor and clear it up. Well, it's Tuesday and I still don't have it filled and I'm having to go off my antidepressant medication tomorrow because CVS won't answer their d-mn phone. ON TOP of that. I have a controlled substance prescription that can only be filled via paper prescription and it was dated May 7th. This is a prescription I have to take every day or I'll fall asleep at work. I brought it in when they opened at 8am on May 7th. The pharmacist on call says "we don't have this in stock, it's coming in the afternoon." I said nicely that the woman who was there on Saturday had assured me they don't have stocking issues at this location - remember, "we usually have everything in stock here?" Well the pharmacist says "I don't know who told you that but they're wrong. Sorry." Then she preceded to say that the person who had told me the medication would be in stock was not the pharmacy manager and didn't have the authority to say that. I asked if she could do a partial fill of the prescription until I pick up the rest later in the day. She said "No, that's against the law." No, it's not against the law. I know it. I asked her to find the exact law that made it illegal. She said she'd get back to me. Then she didn't bring up being against the law, she said it was CVS policy. I asked her which one it was because she just told me it was against the law but now it's just their policy. She again said she'd have to get back to me on it. I have the exact law text from my doctor explaining that they can in fact fill a partial prescription for a controlled substance and pick up the balance later, and CVS just doesn't want to do it. I'm planning on returning this week to inform her that their policy is incorrect. So now as a result, my prescription is ready at the location near my home while I'm falling asleep at work, all because the wonderful attitude and policy of CVS which might not be in accordance with state or federal laws. Just because they feel like it. I am so appalled with their service that I'm writing a letter to the CEO of CVS and complaining that they have completely ruined my pharmacy experience by buying Horton & Converse and making us deal with some pretty horrible attitudes. They should be ashamed of how they treat their customers. I'm making it my mission to have the woman fired who works there Tuesday mornings. She has no business dispensing prescriptions to anyone. I was shocked when I went to that CVS to fill a prescription where I fill at THAT location on a monthly basis, and was told since some were (light weight) triplicates, they could not be prescribed together. Then without any discussion with me about why I might be on this medicine (and how it was thoroughly explained to me by my doctor... Including how to take it safely)....the woman decided to take it upon herself to call my doctor and try to change my prescription. (He did, TG) My family are all doctors and the medication that she decided ON HER OWN ....that I shouldn't be on (since when did pharmacists go to medical school? I know they have a lot of specialized training but they are not medical doctors!!) - anyway, T The medication she wanted to change would be dangerous for me personally but for anybody to suddenly stop taking. I removed the prescription from her and took it somewhere else where they did fill it with no problem. The "pharmacist" - a pretty Asian lady with a very judgmental, rude attitude. I've taken his medication since a horrible car accident (100% not my fault, I feel the need to add, LOL)....she does not know what medication works for me. If they really should not have filled it, I would think they would be opening themselves to a lawsuit. read more

Their text system for prescriptions only works if you have the prescription number which means it's of no help on new prescriptions phoned to them by your doctor. Worse yet, to actually speak to a phamacist at this location means waiting on annoying hold (reminders about Covid and other stuff every minute or so) for 40 or more minutes; my experience more than a few times. And when you finally get through you get misinformation like today when I was told both of my prescriptions were ready for pickup only to have my wife wait 45 minutes for one of them when she went to get them two hours later.And on top of that, the people waiting on her were short, curt and just generally rude. She's vowed never to set foot in that store again. read more

I've had horrible experiences with the pharmacy staff here. Many (not all) of them are condescending, rude and obnoxious. It's as if that they feel having a pharmacy degree is above everybody or something. My most recent experience was with self-proclaimed Joanne (bad) and Rachel (worse). They got defensive when I asked for their names. There seems to be high turnover rate at the place, but the quality of the people has not gotten better unfortunately. After reading all the reviews here, I feel that at least I am not alone in feeling this way. It has become a decision of mentally preparing for abuse to get my prescriptions filled because the place is close to me or looking for a different pharmacy even though it will be out of my way.... I am afraid the answer is increasingly the latter. read more

Avoid this CVS at all costs as it is a total disaster. Starting from the parking lot to the disorganized pharmacists to the nonfunctional self checkout express lanes, I wasted 30 minutes at this awful CVS location and just ended up walking out in frustration. Save yourself the time and frustration and go ANYWHERE else. CVS Corporate how do you allow this location to exist?? read more

YUMMY SEALED SNACKS HERE!! But as for the pharmacy part and bathroom better to avoid as the cleanliness of the location and staff training level is not representative of the CVS brand yet. Remove the rugs they are gross and allow moneygram your full amount of hours and teach your cashiers to know how to use the cash register. read more

I can't get over how crappy the pharmacy staff are. I've called to ensure they have medication in stock multiple times, it's always a yes or no answer, if I get an answer at all. Today I was told "WE DON'T GIVE THAT INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE." Uh, yeah, you do, you're just feeling lazy today. So now I've gotta waste time going in when there's usually a 50/50 chance they don't even have it (hence me calling in the past). Waste of my life. Get a different job if you don't want to interact with patients. read more

This is the absolute worst PHARMACY of any cvs I've ever been to. Within the last year, they have not had my monthly prescription in stock a single time and I run out of medicstion. Largely because when my prescription gets sent in by my doctor 7-10 days before I need the meds, they don't notify me it's not in stock so by the time I go in it's a super stressful situation scrambling to find a 24 hour doctor to help get a whole new prescription in. Nearly all the pharmacy staff are useless and never change their behavior to help the customer. read more

This location is walking distance from my place but after last time I will never go again. I genuinely had time to kill and money to spend and wanted to look at each isle to see what products they have especially makeup bc they have a lot. I didn't even have a big bag or anything and they treated me like a criminal. Having every employee come up to me acting like I was stealing and looking suspicious of me. It was so annoying. This is West Hollywood.. have they never seen a person just wanting to spend money? When I was done and went to the self checkout which I always use they had an employee STAND RIGHT BEHIND ME and the "monitor in progress" camera view came up on my screen the whole time... Daytime pharmacist for Covid vaccine was rude and impossible. After nighttime pharmacist told me to go in at 9am next morning for shot, daytime pharmacist said they shouldn't have done it, was disbelieving, told me to wait and she'd talk to me about accommodation when more vaccines come in, I waited, then she was dismissive, said there was nothing she could do, said she didn't say things when I repeated them back moments later to confirm... it was like she was enjoying toying with me and creating confusion, a real piece of work. Don't go to 8491 Santa Monica Boulevard location. read more
