    3 Item Combo Special
    Alex Y.

D&A Cafe is a HK style cafe that has been serving the Richmond district for decades now. Their menu seems to have changed recently as my mom and I used to order their happy hour specials (dishes were priced between $4 to $8 depending on its size), however this was no longer an option. We opted for the 3 item combo which came out to $39.99 + tax for three very large entree dishes, a tub of rice, and 2 soups. The portion was very generous and the food tasted great as well. It's a good bang for your buck!

Best Hong Kong Milk Tea in the Bay Area I've been coming to D and A Cafe every day for over 10 years now , and it's my go-to spot for authentic Hong Kong-style milk tea. I feel like I'm back to Asia. After picking up my kids from school every weekdays , I stop by and the staff already know my order, especially the owner. She always brews it just right: strong tea with a smooth, silky texture, I love sweetened and unsweetened condensed milk that they add to the drink. Their iced lemon tea (dong ling cha) is excellent too. It's my wife's favorite. The way the owner crushes the lemon before making it gives the drink a fresh, balanced flavor, not too sweet, just perfect. The staff is friendly, I highly recommend D and A Cafe to anyone looking for quality milk tea and great service

This really is a hidden gem! One day my husband and I were looking for a place to eat after work and we stumbled upon this mom and pop shop. Prior reviews were the service was lacking, but the food is on point! I highly agree! The food is amazingly delicious and authentic. The service is just ok, but that is because the owners are busy talking. To each guest and the food comes out quick! They have this special deal where you can get 3 dishes for $39 or 4 dishes for $45. By far the best deal is the 4 dishes for $45. They also have happy hour between 3-5pm (not sure on the hours). All of the food was made fresh to order and just like how I remember eating it growing up! It is really like eating at my grand mother's house for a family gathering! I was blown away by the affordable prices and mouth watering food! The best part of having left overs for the next day! If you have not been here you have to check this place out and give it a chance! The inside is very colorful and looks like this restaurant has been around for a long time! If you ever are in San Francisco on Clement street please come! I highly recommend this place!!!!!! They do not charge for tea either !

We've been coming here for probably well over thirty years! This restaurant has been consistently fantastic every time we come here. I remember when we ordered items that they ran out of, the owner actually went to a supermarket and got the items to cook it for us. We normally order takeout but actually had time to din in this time. We ordered A new item for us, Singapore chow fun, every bit as good as the Singapore rice noodles but using fun instead. And a side note, they used the proper shirmps, the smaller ones not the big honkers most restaurants use nowadays to impress people that are not familiar with the proper size shrimp to use, the flavor profile is much different and does not overpower the dish using the proper size shrimps. The second dish we ordered was the curry beef stew pan fried noodles. I wasn't paying attention until my sis pointed out both dishes employed curry, whoopsie, I do love my curry. The pan fried noodles or Hong Kong style noodles were cooked wonderfully, crispy pan fried noodles with a topping of the curry beef stew. They've changed the interior color from a clubby intimate black color to a off white color, I kinda really preferred the older interior look, but that's me.

Came here on a Friday night because I saw they have a special where you can get four dishes for $45 and it comes with rice and soup for up to four people. The restaurant itself is a mix of funky and traditional Chinese decor. The food was good and tasted as expected for Cantonese food, except the bean curd stick with pea leaves dish was lacking flavor. My favorite dish we had was the Peking spareribs. Now the reason for my two star rating: the entire time we were sitting inside the restaurant, there were flies flying around us and the food. And there were dead flies on the ledge next to the booth we were sitting at. It grossed me out so much, I would never eat here again. If you want to try the food, my recommendation is to get take out.

We were expecting affordable chinese food. They kept the Chinese name of the restaurant, however once you walked in, you would notice that ownership has changed and the ambiance was different. Service was actually quite quick. We ordered the meal combo: which was very good price for food nowadays. We loved all the 4 dishes especially the sour pork ribs, they were very delicious. However, we wished there were even more choices of meat dishes in the meal combo menu.

This place checks all the boxes when we're in the mood for tasty-good, fast, affordable, Chinese food. Their Mongolian beef in particular is a stand out. Super savory, tender, wonderfully prepared, this dish easily rivals higher priced versions we've had in SF, AND the serving portions are significantly more (beef) than any others we've had in the City. The 3 of us order 3 entrees, comes with soup, and a big family bowl of rice and at the time of this review, can all be had for under $59 WITH tip. Bravo Zulu.

The food is so nostalgic and yummy! Had the pea sprouts with garlic (dou miu), salt and pepper spareribs (siu yum ju pa), and wonton with noodles. I'll be back!

I am a fan!!! In SF where every other restaurant has turned into an upscale, more modern version of what it should have been, it is so rare to find an actual comfort food restaurant. Ambiance is extremely casual- wooden decor, booths and tables. The waitstaff are some of the nicest people I've met. Service is quick and the food just hits the spot. There are deals for order 3 or 4 dishes off one side of the menu. And it all comes with soup and enough rice to feed a family of 10. Had a wonderful experience, will definitely be back again.

Aside from just a few dishes we didn't like due to our personal taste, almost everything was pretty delicious and very affordable. We tried 85% of their menu at this point. Since this is more of a HK Cafe, I definitely prefer the more traditional HK / Cantonese fares at this restaurant. The choose your own 3 items, rice and soup continues to be superb value. Lately we have been venturing towards the more Western-style part of their menu, particularly the Portuguese-style baked rice/spaghetti type dishes. Service was very nice as well. The owner is very gracious. Sometimes we do have to flag the staff down for things, but mostly because they are short-staffed.

$11.95 lunch special with soup of the day and tea and milk tea
    Priscilla L.

    * Tasty $11.95 lunch special entree w/tea, milk tea, and soup of the day *Extra $1 charge to use card unless you meet a minimum charge requirement *Hit or miss when it comes to having a clean table to eat at if you dine-in Service & food comes fast and fresh! I've eaten here twice so far and gotten take out once. I've been enjoying the Hong Kong food here. Each day there is a $11.95 lunch special with soup of the day with tea and even a milk tea. Its a bit much for me so I ask for the milk tea in a to go cup. It's affordable and tastes great. There is a separate menu for the lunch specials. Each day of the week there is a specific dish they serve so it's not much of a choice if you want the lunch special but I don't mind the lack of choice for the price. To be honest, it's not the cleanest restaurant though. Some tables are not wiped down immediately. The first time I came, my table was clean. The second time it was not even wiped down so I avoided certain parts of the table during the meal. The third time I came for takeout and noticed the tables were still unclean. Either way, their lunch specials are great.

Yes, was there on 7/14 for takeout. They were quite busy with their takeout business. No dine-in.

Do they work with any of the food delivery apps?

I've personally never seen this restaurant on delivery apps. I usually just call in my order and pick it up.

When I saw it was $9 on the not very descriptive menu I figured it must be a small portion so I also ordered a pork stomach dish because I love offal. (By the way, the current menu is much shorter than what is shown on many Yelp photos.) The noodle soup serving was enormous, as it turned out, with a very generous amount of very meaty duck which I happily gnawed my way through. Anyway, the food overall was good, but definitely on the pricey side. We got two items off the seasonal menu - a spicy shrimp wonton starter, and the country fried rice. The wontons were good, but not spicy, and the fried rice was really good. It definitely could have used some chili oil on top, but was still good as it was served. The food also came out pretty quickly and was a great temperature. We also got the spicy string beans. They were alright, but not much better than any other dim sum restaurant's. Our total after tax & tip was about $100 for two people, with just two starters, one main dish, and a single beer. This definitely feels high for the quality/quantity of the food, but the great service helps makes up for this. I would say if this place got a redesign and lowered the prices a bit, it would be booked up every day.
