I would not recommend going to Damir and letting him work on your car. I wouldn't even let him do an oil change. He did exten work on my car and I have had to pay for a new mechanic to re-do al the work. I'm now going to have to have the timing chain redone. I have oil leak and coolant leaking because of his shabby work. The brakes and rotors were the first thing to be replaced less than a year after he did the work. He cbarged me several thousand dollars for the work. He doesn't know what he's doing and has no ethics. Save your money and get a reputable mechanic. This guy is an absolute joke!! read more

I got a rapid leak in my tire and I came racing over late Friday night. It was almost 2 hours after close and I was planning on just leaving it there and having them look at it when they were open the next day, but when I called the number Damir was in the back and popped out to look at it quick right then. He found the issue before I even parked the car, and fixed it in less than 5 minutes. Even more incredibly he only charged me $10 and basically said it would be criminal to charge more for such a basic fix. I can't tell you what a hassle it would have been, and how much he saved by bacon. I can't imagine any other shop opening 2 hours after close to fix such a small thing for you. I wish I could rate 10 stars... I am blown away by this mechanic. I needed a place to take my BMW 328i for emergency service, 'Engine Malfunction' error shutting down cylinders, as my previous most beloved German Car Specialist in Sunnyvale (Ralph at European Auto Works) retired. On a lark I tried D&S because I liked the fact that previous reviews spoke about trust and honesty. I live like 6 blocks away so it was convenient for me to try. Initially I was skeptical because I didn't want to go to a gas station, but I was there, so I met with Damir. Immediately I could tell he's a sincere guy. He diagnosed the error codes, and quickly determined that it was the gas pedal sensor causing the malfunction... 4 hours later, and $300 bucks, I had my BMW back driving good as new! I thought it was going to be thousands, and it probably would have.... if. So after this great experience, I decided to trust him with my Honda Pilot 2016. HE did the A1 service, and also worked diligently to replace the cracked windshield wiper. His price was competitive, and he even dropped his price to make sure he was the lowest, but also wanted to make sure that I was getting a quality windshield. I appreciated that, and decided to take his original price, I liked his honesty. Last detail... I had no car, since the wife was picking up the kids and I had an emergency errand to run for my business. I asked him if he had any loaner cars, and he said he did not, but he offered his personal car. I borrowed his car for about an hour, no questions asked by Damir. This reminds me back when I was young, when I was smashing up my parents cars, when we had a local in town family mechanic servicing all our cars needs. I've taken about 4 different cars to Damir for various reasons over the past 5-6 years. This shop is convenient for me since it's within walking distance, I can drop off the car and then walk home, this is a major win for my particular situation. I consider myself a car guy and capable of doing certain maintenance and repairs on my own, what I lack most of the time is tools and time to do the work myself. I also do a decent job of tracking labor prices and getting adequate estimates from other places. I would say that the work Damir does is about all of the quality you would get from another reputable shop for about 70-80% of the price. It's also not a nice shop where you get free coffee and wifi while you wait as well so take that into account. As an example I had to get my rear wheel bearings on my E46 M3 changed. This is one of those jobs that is very labor intensive and could require lots of effort to put the new bearing back in. Damir scheduled me in, did the work in about 1-2 days and charged a fair price. I would recommend him to anyone and there is a reason why I still go back to him for quality work required over the past few years. read more

It's a messy, crowded shop, but he did a great job in diagnosing a problem on my wife's BMW X3 and getting it fixed. I am reviewing this shop based on my one experience. Your experience may vary, but for me it was excellent. Had a drive belt break (fray and break completely). Got the car into this shop (they were close and it's VERY hard to drive the car when no power is getting generated to steering, etc) and Rob told me "no problem." He went online, got the quote for the belt, told me he'd get it within an hour and it would probably take 3 hours to complete since he had to get the old frayed belt out (which was probably a real pain). He called me in a few hours, told me the car was done, and charged me what I considered to be a reasonable price (and I verified the price range online). So, all in all, he did a great job and saved me a tow to the dealer. If it matters, it looks like they rent the garage from the Shell station. The station looks like it rents one of the stalls to a smog check and another one to these guys. Didn't matter to me as long as they got the job done. read more

I have a 2003 BMW 325ci (We all know BMW'S love to have expensive hiccups) that I always take to them if it has the flu or needs a check up. They always AFFORDABLE...Y and with QUALITY bring it back to life, so I don't have to borrow cars or waste all my money on sketchy Uber drivers that won't stop talking to me. LAST TIME I FIXED MY CAR HERE: My girlfriend accidentally destroyed the front of my car by crashing it into the back of some jerk who suddenly slammed on his breaks in front of her. I did not have liability, so I had to pay out of pocket. They helped me out a lot by finding affordable parts for me and sparing the ones that could be reused. MY BABY IS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN with no problems at all and I still had a couple extra dollars to buy a Big Mac. P.S. They also always wash and leave an awesome air freshener in my car. read more

BE WARNED! THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH OR CHECK HERE!! My car broke down suddenly one morning and I was in need of a mechanic ASAP. Although most shops opened at 9am, D&S Auto opened at 8am. I called and was told I could bring my car in. Within 2 hours of drop off, my car was diagnosed and repairs began. He got the necessary part and finished the work by 5pm. I was really impressed until I was told (last minute) that I could only pay by cash or check. The bill was more than $500. I was pretty upset and didn't have that much cash in my bank account at the time. He assured me that we could work something out, and we did. But I find this sentiment irritating. When a transaction is over $100, it seems reasonable to charge it to your credit card. Most people won't have the cash to cover an unexpected car repair. And so I've decided that even though they provide excellent service, I will not be returning to this shop until they allow credit card payments. read more

Been needing an oil change for some time now and decided to bring my car to this place as its conveniently located near my house and my boyfriend has had work done on his car here before and has always left happy with his services. I came here at 9 am and was told I could get an oil change, but I would need to leave my car here for a few hours. Although this is not a problem for me, it may be for others so I would call to see if you can make an appointment before heading over here unless you will be okay without a car for a few hours. The guys are really nice and are not pushy. They only take cash which I didn't know, but there is an ATM located inside the gas station store. Amir is the best Benz specialist!! I had purchased a 1997 Mercedes-Benz that had low miles and just needed a repair, problem was even though the car was an automatic the gears from 2nd to 3rd weren't automatically adjusting. And sometimes it would stay in 2nd and rev high. After I bought the car I took it to one other place to look at it and they couldn't detect the problem at all. I then took it here, after it being in the shop for only a couple of days, Amir found out that it was the wiring. The company that installed the Bluetooth radio didn't connect a wire from the truck to the engine, sounds complicated but I can't believe he found the problem! He fixed the wiring and I was on my way. I am not a customer. However I would avoid this place completely. My friend just bought her new (used) car, drove it home and left the lights on overnight. They came accross the street and jump-started the car to take it to their garage - they get full marks for that. She called later and they said, "The battery won't accept any charge. You'll need a new one." I told her I'd drive her there, give her a jump if needed, and test the battery myself for free (I have the equipment). When we came unexpectedly, the car had it's lights on, but the engine off (draining the battery). He was surprised to see her (and myself). When he (the mechanic) started the car, it turned right over. The battery has been fine ever since. The cherry on the cake was that he charged her $45 dollars - the only real item on the list was charging the battery (which Autozone will do for free). In my opinion, this place is highly unethical. read more

Update from early 2016, adding a 4th round of praise for D&S. I'm still driving a 27 year old Toyota pickup, and predictably it needed semi-major work for oil leaks -- many new gaskets. D&S referred me to an engine steam-cleaner down town (great guy also), had me drive a day to let the leaks flow on the clean enginer so they could identify and prioritize. Bought me the set and replaced the ones most urgent. They let me balance need vs. cost. For this, cost was largely labor. But the price is always fair, and I trust their work. My garage floor is grateful and I have the remaining gaskets in the set for future maintenance. My prior review follows. ----- This auto shop has saved my bacon on 3 occasions, and I am long overdue for writing a review. This is what a neighborhood gas station/auto shop should be like. First, I managed to get my car hood stuck - the latch wouldn't operate. It was necessary because I had to drive to a windshield repair shop on a rainy day to get the cracked windshield replaced - but first I had to repair my wipers, which had blown apart on Hwy 101 during a downpour the day before. In the attempt to fix my wipers, I managed to screw up the latch. My other car had problems as well, and I was at the end of my vehicle rope, so to speak. I live near Winchester and Williams and went to the Shell station on a Sunday morning, expecting it to be closed, and the mechanic fixed the latch, got the wipers functional, and lowered my blood pressure for no charge. Perhaps my car distress was plain to see. Eternally grateful. Second, on the day before a month-long work trip, I realized I had 3 days to get my son's car smogged. Again, I run to the closest smog station, Winchester Shell, about 6 pm on a Saturday. Almost closing time. He asked me if I brought a coupon. Ever the bargain hunter, I offered to drive back home and print the on line coupon. No worries, he said, I'll give you the $20 coupon. My 1987 truck passed the smog, no problems, and no late fees. Third, I was almost home in the Winchester exit lane of Hwy 280 and a car in distress, attempting to exit quickly, sideswiped me and slammed me into the wall. I drove away with significant body damage. D&S checked my car mechanically for damage, and gave it the thumbs up. In the aftermath they did my brakes, and installed new shocks and tires - overdue. Total cost about what I would pay elsewhere, but I'm close to home and they give me higher quality parts. The mechanics are trustworthy and the smog shop is dependable and competitive. A one-stop shop. These guys are just nice. Give them your business. You won't regret it. read more

Amir and Rob, definitely know there shit when it comes to cars. I had a clutch and flywheel replacement done on my 1999 Mercury Cougar V6 manual and they nailed the job. It runs great and smooth. It definitely felt like a new car. My only qualm, as with most auto shops, is that their pricing per part is always more expensive than if you bought the part yourself. I spoke to Robert on the phone a few weeks ago. I didn't get any work done here but after this conversation I am pretty sure all my future auto needs will be done here. I had been calling around to lots of shops to see if they can give me a quote on some work I needed done. I had it diagnosed at Subaru and since my car was dead, not looking to tow it to every shop in town. However, every shop was telling me that they can definitely beat Subaru's price just tow it on over. Knowing that I wont want to tow it everywhere. It's really hard to call shops and get an honest answer when you're a female trying to get some auto work done. However, when I spoke to Robert he was very straight forward and honest with me. He told me the price of the parts of everything I needed and told me I had a fair price and no one could really beat their price by much. Apparently one of the parts I needed was ridiculously priced and only Subaru makes it which is why the work I needed done was so pricey.
