Great place if you are looking to get some deli meat and various cheeses! I am big on knowing what is in my food, and they have a booklet explaining all the nutrition facts about MOST of what they carry. The sandwiches to order are fine, but nothing special in my opinion, I mainly go here for my fresh deli meats and cheeses. Skip the grocery stores with packaged cold cuts, and opt in for a place like this where you can ACTUALLY see them cut each slice of meat, and know what is in your food. $13 for the smallest sandwich ever!!! This was our first time (and last time) coming here. Ordered a turkey sandwich, asked if they had roast beef, the counter girl said yes, so added that. Was not asked what bread, toppings, condiments we wanted, so partially our fault that we were so disappointed. After realizing we had waited over 10 min, we figured they probably assumed we wanted a hot sandwich (which we didn't, but again wasn't asked). Sandwich was in fact made hot. And wow, what a disappointment!!!! How has this place been in business for so long??? Are we missing something. There was about 7 people that came in to order while we were there. Did we order the wrong thing??? If you look at the pictures, and look VERY CLOSELY, you can play I spy for the lettuce and the tomato, lol. A normal turkey sandwich is $9.75, so we paid an extra 3.50+ for the roast beef. To be honest the amount of meat was not ok especially if it should've been double meat!!!! We ordered turkey AND roast beef, not 1/2 turkey 1/2 roast beef. Will we return? Absolutely not!!! We are all about supporting local and small businesses but I would much rather go to the competitor in the same shopping center. Customer service: very friendly. Every one was hustling. Love this traditional feeling of deli shop and they offer so many kinds of sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. I'm surprised I haven't written a review for this place yet. I have lived nearby for almost a decade, and haven't really gotten to appreciate this place. I have previously only visited once or twice to try some of their sandwiches, but I was finally able to give their other food a try, and its amazing! If you have not tried their Broasted Chicken, or in house potato salad or cole slaw, give it a try! I guess before talking about the food, I do also want to say that this business has also adapted to the pandemic of COVID, and it feels safe to visit here with the 6 foot distance in the line, and the staff wearing masks. Food Like i said before, I have tried their sandwich before, particularly the hot meatball sub. I would say the meatball itself was pretty good, but i believe there just wasn't enough sauce. I could also understand that if they were to put too much, the sandwich may get quite soggy by the time you are able to eat it. Maybe I could ask for a side of the marinara in the future? What i want to cover is these items! Broasted Chicken - wow the fried chicken I usually order from KFC, Popeyes, Churches feel so oily and unhealthy compared to this. Not only did it feel less "unhealthy" but it was packed with flavor and great contrast of the crisp of the skin. Just writing this makes me want to order another batch!\ This comes usually with some sides like the cole slaw, the broasted potato's as well as the rolls. You could swap it out for the potato salad if you wish. They have different sizes and you can choose from as small as 8 pieces to as much as 24 pieces for the order. I had a business lunch in the Upland area and decided to check Yelp for nearby options. I was pleased to find an "Old World Deli" nearby and decided to go there. As expected, the deli was very clean and I was impressed by the presentation when we walked in. Since it was lunchtime, it was busy, but it cleared out quickly after the lunch rush, so we were served promptly. We ordered the Broasted Chicken and Eggplant Sandwich, and both were fantastic! The wedges were delightfully crispy, and the chicken was outstanding. It's definitely the best place to get Broasted Chicken - juicy, tender, crispy, and incredibly delicious. The portions were generous, so we were quite full by the end. I did miss the salad bar, which used to be epic, fresh, and worth the price, but unfortunately, it's no longer available due to Covid. I'm sad to say that a deli that me and my extended family have been shoppping at since 1972 has taken basically all Italian pantry items off the shelves. They didn't have ANY fresh Italian staple cheese. No Parmesan, no Parmigiano Reggiano, no Pecorino Romano. I spent a minimum of 100.00 a month in this deli. This place has been hiding from me all these years. It is tucked away in the old Kohl's shopping center, next to Sally Beauty. I called ahead and ordered the broaster 8 piece chicken meal. It comes with giant and scrumptious potato wedges, dinner rolls and fried chicken. It's the best fried chicken I've ever had. It also comes with a side salad of your choosing: coleslaw, macaroni salad, garden salad, potato salad. They also have a variety of desserts. I had to get a slice of the tuxedo cheesecake. It is a very cute cozy little deli spot . I really liked how clean it was family oriented a lot of people were sitting down and enjoying their food. I really enjoy the Christian music it's a nice positive atmosphere. Everything looked fresh the salad bar looks great. I didn't see trash anywhere on the floor . They keep up with the place . You get what you pay for the prices are higher than your typical huge ginormous food chain corporation but it's a small mom and pop shop and the quality in the food and what you're going to be eating is worth the money. It's been over five years since my last review on Old World Deli, Broasted Chicken. Well here it is...now D'Ozona Old World Deli, I decided to drive down and place my order for the Broasted Chicken, wanted to see for myself if the establishment had changed drastically. It hasn't and so I ordered my chicken cuz there's not a restaurant anywhere that serves Broasted Chicken in the near by cities. To my surprise the chicken was very good and satisfied my taste buds! The crust was literally, crispy and not at all salty, chicken was hot and moist (like it should be) and the size of the chicken was grade A size which is normal chicken size, not this pigeon size portion chicken, in the past. I had ordered the broccoli salad, delicious with plenty of flavor. Potato's were cooked right except maybe one, which was odd, I thought. How can one potato not look like the other two. The gentleman taking my order was new to his position but did very well in asking me what I wanted on my order, cordial and patient. So, I'm sorry for not taking any pictures, but if anyone has been hesitating to go back to Old World Deli, I would say, PLEASE DO , you won't be disappointed and you will like the new owner/management of D'Ozona. What a terrible first experience for me. I don't mess with pickles. They make me sick. These folks wrote no pickles on the package but there were pickles. The most they are willing to do is write down my number for a future credit. We don't live near the place and I'm not willing to waste gas. I would this this deli a higher ranking, however, the amount of pastrami they put in the sandwich is minimal. A pastami sandwich should be full of meat. The good part, the sandwich is very tasty and they will make it the way you want it. The service is also very good. Everyine is usually kind and will take time to describe a menu item or explain/answer questions or concerns. Again, for $15.95, I wish there was more pastrami in the sandwich. Finally, the interior is quaint and cute! There are several deli items to choose from. They are one of the last places to have the old school pickle jar, and the pickles are bomb! Do overall, my only complaint is how much pastrami is in the sandwich. I'm sitting here now after I ordered a turkey sandwich. I assumed they would put either mustard or mayonnaise on it so I didn't tell them which one I wanted. The sandwich was made in less than 60 seconds. I was shocked that it was made so fast. I didn't have a chance to sit down and, bam, the sandwich was ready. I sat in the back to eat it. The sandwich had no mustard or mayonnaise, and the wheat bread was extremely dry and the bread started to fall apart immediately as I ate it. The dryness of the sandwich made it seem like it was just slapped together. Or even worse, like it was made from ingredients that had been sitting near something hot. Even the tomato didn't make the sandwich moist. I found one small pickle in it but quite a bit of lettuce. Definitely disappointed in the sandwich. The service was fast and the guy taking the order was very nice. If I do return it will not be for a sandwich. First timer. Went and spoke with the elders outside and asked how it was rhey all said rhey had been customers for 20 yrs. Super clean spot, friendly staff members all had smiles and jokes and answered all questions without any attitude like you see these days. Food was amazing. So my brother and I were craving some chicken after Christmas shopping so decided to get the 8 Piece family meal from Old World! I called ahead so there was almost no wait when I arrived and the server was very helpful and made sure I got everything I needed for the meal.
